There is one thing which is consistently wonderful to me, which is this whole study thing when nearly everything is online.
I still have memories of the gaps and difficulties when I was studying back in the early 2000s - our library flooded at one point and every book and journal on the lower two shelves were destroyed. The information techs did their best but that library held some one of a kind texts - and because it was fine arts and architecture, some of them were these almost A1 sized folios. Now it's like, 'citation, follow link; dead end?; search; find; use.' 'new citation of interest!; follow link; dead end? search; find; read!' all from my shitty 450mm wide Ikea desk in my upstairs bedroom.
I mean, I imagine this will be quite the inverse once I lose my academic institution's ability to access behind all paywalls, but at least it's there...
