Having to explain that you don't particularly enjoy sci-fi, but also being willing the throw hands with people who call one of your favorite series fantasy when it is actually sci-fi.
#Look Dragon Riders of Pern is Sci-fi#it reads like fantasy#but it is absolutely sci-fi#I too was confused by this as a child#but like Pern is an acronym (Parallel Earth; Resources Negligible)#the dragons are genetically engineered from a species native to the planet (Fire Lizards; mini-dragons)#the people who live on Pern are the descendants of colonizers from Earth
