I love how you portray Ruin in both Mer AU's, because I also have something that hinders my ability to walk (or move in Mer!Ruin's case)! Not to the extent of needing crutches, I can walk just fine, just mostly affects me if I'm on my feet for long periods. Rarely has it hurt as soon I start walking. Sometimes I could walk for an hour and feel nothing even! It's only temporary as long as I sit for a good bit. It might get worse as I get older though.. but oh well lmao. Pardon me for the long ask

Aww i'm glad you enjoy him!! Mer!Ruin can walk without crutches for the most part, but if his pain gets too much then his legs will just up and disappear because it's too painful to keep them out. He's not able to use a wheelchair either because he can't sit on his tail the way humans do. But Eclipse is quite comfortable to carry him when needed!

It would be a similar situation even if he was in the water too - if the pain becomes too much then he won't be able to swim. He could only drag himself around the seabed using his hands at best, not too unlike how he does on land. He'd spent a lot of days in his past curled up in a rocky cave or hidden in small kelp forests when he had those flares then. Presently if he had a flare come on while out swimming then Sols would help guide him back to shore or Eclipse's boat depending. So would Loon and the Peas when they're older and bigger!
