Opinions on Jason Todd being the multiversal equivalent to Uncle Ben 👀

i see the appeal, but i don't like it personally. they're just two fundamentally different characters now that i can't equivalate them with each other. maybe i could see the tie in with the both of them dying tragically? furthering the plot for another character? but at the same time, that'd make universal equivalents for millions of characters

I give you one better, I invite you to avoid the negativity and tell us. What would be the perfect DP/SP cannon comic for you? Like that topics and motivations and even silly jokes would make you fill with joy and happiness and fun reading it?

Also if you could choose any writer to do it, who would it be?

for real the spideypool book of all time is avenging spider-man #12-#13, for wade and peter's ridiculous dynamic where - unlike most of deadpool and spider-man's team-ups, spider-man is honestly in good spirits and good humour, and is rolling with the punches.

i think that's the big reason why i love this particular team-up so much - it's not as mean-spirited as literally every other spider-man and deadpool routine, where spider-man is kind of excessively mean to deadpool. like sure, wade and peter aren't friends, exactly, but peter's not excessively mean, and they just have this delightful little dynamic where - like, peter's disappointed, but i don't know, it doesn't feel belittling to me. even when peter's disappointed.

it's the most likeable peter's ever been in any spider-man and deadpool team-up. he really really has a likability issue in every single spider-man/deadpool team-up. in every single one, save for this one, peter is just... really unlikeable in the spider-man/deadpool dynamic. he's always holier-than-thou, and i really can't stand it.

so if there were a spider-man and deadpool book i'd want to read - it would have to have wade and peter on equal footing. none of this holier-than-thou stuff - peter doesn't see himself as superior. he probably will still see deadpool as a nuisance, but he doesn't think he's better than wade. i'd want it to stay street-level. i'd want a lot of opportunities for each of them to surprise each other with their abilities - i'd want wade to constantly be taken aback by peter's brilliance, and i'd want peter to be taken aback by how sharp wade is. i'd want that respect between them to grow, over time. equal footing. a balance of powers. i really don't think it's fair that, kind of consistently, peter's always held the power in the dynamic and wade's kind of always a bit of a doormat with peter. so - i want them to dismantle that hero-worship dynamic, and put them on equal footing.

god. and the series has to be funny. dear god let it be funny. the sm/dp series was just - not funny. i can't remember a single joke that landed, for me. if there's anything a spider-man and deadpool book has to be, it's funny. please. deeeeaaaar god please.

being back in their childhood bodies feels like wearing a quickly rotting corpse, lucy thinks not for the first time.

everything feels stiff, their adult death locking every joint with keys forever lost to them. peter's shoulders knock into every doorframe and corner no matter how much he presses his thumbs into the resulting bruises whispering curses. susan's hands violently shake around any object she dares to hold as though all muscles have long atrophied in this grave that calls itself england. for weeks, edmund falls down the stairs each morning, his feet uncoordinated and legs never long enough for the proud strides he tries to take.

lucy can't spin without getting dizzy. her body moves nothing like the years of grace she'd grown into. it tastes like decay, every time she lands on the floor, robbed of a living, worn-in self and caged in something that should have died decades ago; decomposing around their souls as though to mark their loss with the biggest insult this world could give.

she has half a mind to bury her siblings and herself beneath the sprawling green of the professor's lands—so that they might cease to drag their undead feet beneath their mourning minds and perhaps even finally find rest. she's tired of the sleepless nights, truly. tired of seeing edmund writing missives to politicians that would never be read, tired of watching susan bite her lip when yet another cup of tea spills down her dress, tired of watching peter sob over his bruises when he thinks they cannot hear.

lucy is tired of it all. she'd rather be dead, she thinks not once or twice but many times, even as she knows that burying themselves in english soil won't make their long-dead bodies bloom with narnian flowers.

she can hope, anyhow.

I want to point out a scene I really love from Young Justice #43. Not only is it a really good scene, I think it shows how much Cassie grew up over the course of Young Justice.

Ellen, a classmate of Cissie’s, just lost her parents in a bombing. She left the school, and everyone is worried she might attempt suicide. In the middle of telling Cassie about Ellen, Cissie and Traya are jumped by their racist classmates.

Superboy breaks the sound barrier going to protect them, but unexpectedly, Cassie is not right on his heels. Her best friend and the girl who is basically a younger sister to the entire team are in trouble, but she doesn’t go barging in as redundant backup. Cassie trusts Superboy to handle it. While he saves Cissie and Traya, Cassie handles an equally pressing matter.

She doesn’t crowd Ellen, or yank her off the ledge to “get her to safety”. She approaches carefully, calling out to Ellen so she doesn’t startle her. She talks to her, giving standard reassurances at first but quickly realizing the situation is not what she thought and adjusting accordingly.

Cassie is quiet. She patiently listens as Ellen pours her heart out, offering only quiet acknowledgement of Ellen’s feelings, until Ellen directly addresses her.

I could never picture Cassie from the first arc of YJ doing this, let alone the Cassie from her first appearances in Wonder Woman. Early Cassie is brash and loud, constantly rushing into things fists first. She is absolutely sincere, but she lacks the finesse to handle delicate situations. I wouldn’t even expect her to go find Ellen — she would have been right on Kon’s heels to go save Cissie and Traya. Instead she splits duties, trusting Kon to handle things while handling a potentially delicate matter herself with empathy and grace. It demonstrates trust, teamwork, and emotional maturity. We also get a really touching conversation out of it.

Idk, I just really like this scene.

(Come to think of it, this is exactly how Cassie approaches Tim in Red Robin shut up I’m not crying you’re crying)

Fuck Regulus Black - Barty/Regulus : rivals to… sort of lovers. I got the shits with every HC that they’re friends and wrote a fic where they aren’t.

Monster - Remus Fest fic (no pairing) : totally gen. I wrote this for @wanderingdonut to fulfil a prompt they were gutted to not have the time to work on. I think it’s hilarious. I really enjoyed writing this.

Dance Little Liar - Remus/Sirius, Sirius/Barty : I’m fucking long term obsessed with this fic. It’s an FBI AU and it completely went off the rails. It’s on hiatus at the moment but I’ll come back to it when I’m finished with the other nonsense Im working on and it’s gonna be cooked.

Nightmare Summer Camp - I’m not going to lie this is like. The crown jewel of my accomplishments. It was written entirely with randomly generated prompts. It’s absolutely fucked. I was really proud that it came together as a semi cohesive fic. I love it. 10/10 vibes

I want you to know that Logan really does have sexual tension with most characters he comes across because even in Wolverine vs Predator by Benjamin Percy (It's an ok mini-series, i still don't really like Percys writing for Logan and some of the art is a miss considering it uses multiple artists for the multiple eras, but it's sorta fun, it DOES make the fact the predators helmet is used for the Weapon X helmet tho and i kinda don't like that) Logan ends this century long rivarly with this single Yauta with these thoughts:

...HOW DOES HE HAVE A POST-MORTEM ROMANTIC TENSION WITH A YAUTJA?! This single page from this at best avarage mini-series made me considering shipping Logan with this specific Yautja....Goddamn, Logan.
