“If you believe that then I have a bridge to sell you” is one of my favorite expressions specifically because every time I hear it I think of the one well known case of a guy actually buying a bridge
In 1968 Robert McCulloch bought the London Bridge from the City of London for 2.46 million dollars. He then had all the exterior bricks sent all the way across the ocean and across most of the US to Lake Havasu, Arizona, where it was reconstructed around a steel and concrete frame, which cost an additional 7 million dollars.

re: my last post also.
it has been. a Terrible few weeks. for the research-as-time-waster situation.
i did research for chapter 88 or 89 of cult au that i finally managed to use in the next chapter to post, chapter 96
at no point did the PURPOSE of this research rise above the level of "fun easter egg that means i don't have to name characters"

Beautiful Images, Part I
Today we are diving deep into the photo archives, to the original Beautiful Images collection created when the site when public in 1994. These are all images taken in the 1980's and 1990's using film cameras.
They were printed, then scanned at high resolution, but unfortunately when we moved from an (unofficial) site on a corporate server to https://theotherpages.org on a public server, images were highly compressed and reduced to save bandwidth. Here are some of those original images, (mostly) resurrected using Topaz Gigapixel and a few other tools. Not perfect, but surprisingly good all things considered. --Steve
- The Clematis is from my former home in Lexington, Kentucky
- The towers and steeples of Prague was taken by Amy Shipman
- The Snow Tunnel is one I took as my spouse and I escaped Yosemite after a HEAVY April snowfall (snow chains required)
- The eastern rim of the Grand Canyon in sunset, was taken by Teresa Bzdyk.
-Jama Masjid Mosque in Agra, India was taken by Jim Rioux.
