This doesn’t really need to be said but a Valyria spinoff show just Wouldn’t work I’m surprised I still see so many people asking for it. There’s such little detail about it in the texts that the show runners would have to build the entire empire’s history, arts, political and economic systems from scratch, all while marrying it in a satisfying way to the main ASOIAF plot. Besides a scant few Valyrians and dragons, the general culture doesn’t have enough/any presence in the main series for a show based in Valyria to feel familiar or gratifying at all.

Not to mention, I cant see a Valyrian-centered show having the confidence to unpack the politics and machinations of a slave-based empire, let alone frame the ruling Valyrians in any critical light

#not to say I think hotd or got were perfect let alone great in any class analysis #but the point still stands #given a lot of the people who are advocating for an old Valyria show are Targ fans #I don’t see how the show could critique the empire or suggest that the only reason the Targs were able to conquer Westeros was due to wealth #from slave profits or their familiarity with mass subjugation #without considerably alienating their core audience #re: the culture point - what I mean is there’s about 2 known Valyrian citizens #zero remaining poetry or art or religion which plays Any role in the books or the show #the only established trace of culture is the language + braids + dragons #the latter which isn’t even ubiquitous to the Valyrian race #whatever #asoiaf #asoiaf meta #Valyria
