the whole 'television's golden age began in 1998 with the sopranos' take is just kind of laughable to me. leaving aside how america-centric it is, it basically translates as 'I'm a film bro who only cares about tv when it's trying to be like movies'

#personal crap #I'm not saying the sopranos isn't good idc about arguing over that #I'm saying you can put the golden age of tv starting wayyyyy further back than that #like. is the simpsons not golden age tv? is tng not golden age tv? is the x files not golden age tv?#and that's just other american tv shows from earlier in the 90s #even looking as mainstream as british tv that has a golden age you can trace as far back as the 60s with stuff like tw3 or the prisoner #and there's some seriously prestigious anime like rov and gundam that far predates the 'golden age'#the one thing I'll give 'golden age of tv' people is that occasionally they acknowledge su lol
