im not saying this in a "i want Leon as an RO" way, i just wanted to babble and i hope this doesnt feel pressuring bc that is not what i want to do. i just wanted to share

but yeah i do enjoy daydreaming about him and my MC being very affectionate towards each other. just Leon feeling generally misunderstood (at least thats the vibe he gives off to me), but feeling like at least MC tries to understand him and generally succeeds with the efforts, esp if she loaned him the book. just casually leaning on her, or being quietly obnoxious by shifting his legs to be in her lap; taking her with to museums; being, not upset with the band's hiatus, but by not getting the promise to see MC reguarly and work with her; promising to call or send post-cards, maybe them being a bit of a Daisy and Simone with that "map of the world" monolog from Daisy Jones & The Six. but also if he wrote some unrequited love songs about the MC, i wouldnt be surprised, gotta give the Leon simps something in this measly hc scenario of mine i guess lmao

i think part of it being (a) really ironic for Vince to potentially be in love with someone who is "like Leon's kid sister", or just being easily charmed by her platonically yet repelled be Leon if his affection is non-romantic. i like the idea that Vince and Leon can never agree on anything besides the MC being good company. i think part of the allure is that, knowing the murders coming up and i assume MC being targetted at one point, under that daydream's scenario, that thered be the potential for a Leon-Vince truce under the name of worrying about her and wanting to see if she's okay

and (b) is because it immediately sets up this assumption that MC is usually their mediator (personality depending, but my MC definitely would have been). therefore, giving more credit to the assumptions the MC is sleeping with the band/breaking them up, and also setting up further How Done with this Vincent must be if none of the MC's usual peacekeeping has worked. and the MC does kind of act, narratively, like "part of why the band broke up" if both Vincent and Leon are in any way clingy or jealous in a "no, she's MY best friend" manner

and (c) is in case Leon dies. idk if you ever watched the show, Fraggle Rock from Jim Henson, but there's an episode where all the Fraggles mistakenly think Mokey died. and Red is just in shock going "No! No, she can't be dead! She isn't! She can't be dead because she's my best friend! She's my best friend!" before she found out Mokey is actually okay. and i think thatd be my MC's reaction to Leon dying due to all these hcs i do

for the record, i am also trying to come with hcs around my MC and Shiloh too, but im having more trouble with him, idk why though

Hi! I got the impulse to respond, but I don't know where to start.

Leon is tricky and it's hard to truly grasp an understanding of who he is in the Prologue and that was entirely my intention. Even though I want you guys to recognise a sense of familiarity with the band, I don't want you to know them yet. So I do find the different interpretations of Leon--that I have seen so far--really interesting. They haven't been insanely different, but they haven't been the same.

As for Leon's opinion of the hiatus, you will find out in Chapter 1! That conversation is had and was BREWING, believe me. I won't spoil a lot of it but it's not directly had between MC and Leon, there are different characters you'll hear from too. This scene is currently where I am in the writing process for Chapter 1 coincidentally.

I want to say more but everything I want to say is essentially spoiling what will come up in the story. I need to finish Chapter 1 soon, because keeping things to myself is excruciating--I don't even give my best friends spoilers because I don't want to ruin the immersion for them when they're beta testing my first drafts. I'm unwell

Jercy AU in which Jason looks like Kronos, a Percy - Rhea.

So this is a really interesting idea here and i love it!!

(Unrelated, but at first glance, i miss read this and thought of an old favorite fic called Confused By Time by Dragonswoe on AO3 (its percy x kronos))

For this au my brain immediately goes to heavy animosity between Jason and Percy

But first there are a few changes that legally must be set up

1) kronos does not use Luke as a host to rise, Luke is more like a pet or a general for the demigod portion of the army.

Something like that just as long as they are physically separate entities.

2) during the titan war, chb and cj have to meet and work together before tlo (this'll be for the war effort or something)

3) i feel like the titan war would be way expanded in the long run with older characters.

4) Jason is respected, feared, and generally disliked. But the people at Camp Jupiter generally trust him and follow his command.

5) Rhea would likely be on the titan's side for the extra punch i want

But anyway

Percy meets Jason the same time Annabeth and Reyna meet

Each camp sent their big powerhouse (percy & jason) + the person they trust most to lead them (annabeth & reyna)

It goes about how you'd expect.

No one likes each other.

Jason and Reyna are fine since they've built that trust, Annabeth and Percy are the same way, but any other combination is just bad.

Objectively, they all know they have to get along for the sake of everyone's survival. But dont count on them being civil in private

Essentially they are all forced to fake friendship up until its literally just the 4 of them

Annabeth and reyna realize they've actually become friends over time first.

Percy and Jason are both distraught at this news.

They still high key hate each other

Circumstances force these two into close proximity. They fight. They calm down. They still can't leave. Someone breaks the exhausted silence.

Idk how they get out, but that is the start of them realizing the other person isnt horrible.

Bla bla bla, something something

percy and jason get closer. Romantic feelings develop

Percy realizes his feeling at the curse of Achilles but he 100% thinks he's gonna die by the end of the war.

Debating if Jason knows about the prophecy.

He probably does.

I legally need a scene where it looks like Percy is about to die. (Im thinking crushed by rubble and trapped (he should also pass out around here))

Jason hopes Percy is still alive and literally tries to dig him out. Annabeth stops him because the structure itself is unstable, and if Percy is still alive they could kill him if further collapse hits his Achilles spot.

Jason leaves to go feral on the battlefield. (This stresses out Annabeth and Reyna further by default)

Reyna takes on leading the battlefield as Annabeth creates a team to get Percy (or his body).

The war ends somewhere after that (im thinking that's like the big final battle grounds)

Not sure if Luke dies by backbitter or if Jason will die by backbitter. (Hero's soul cursed blade shall reap.) It 100% depends on if Luke has a change of heart and uses the last battle for sabotage and as his own personal grave.

Then the war ends kronos is defeated (dont ask me how cause idk), everyone has the party up on olympus

Annabeth and reyna share a kiss like its new years and the ball just dropped (this is not their first kiss but perhaps the first public kiss)

I want jason and Percy to share a kiss, but thats really difficult when theres a chance Jason is dead.

Side note, if jason had died, percy was 100% by his side. Or another outcome would be they both died, and saved their happy ending for elysium.

The named character death count stands between 1 and 3: luke is always gonna die, while jason and percy both have a chance but its slim

Also im thinking about what would happen if jercy got zombified afterwards because of the one big wish. But this is a scenario where only 1 half of Jercy died/survived.

Most of the end id dependant on who lives, who dies, and the surrounding circumstances

honest to god. i think lightning was completely valid in how he acted in cars 2 😭 AND I HAVE A REASONING. HEAR ME OUT.

first of all, im personally not a huge fan of this movie. i think all of it is extremely out of character (for every character involved), but i have a specific spot in my heart for lightning in this film because really, i understand where hes coming from. if you went to a foreign country with your best friend, and instead of being respectful, they acted like a total douche the entire time - as well as screwing you up during the event THEY SIGNED YOU UP FOR (with knowledge that mater could have simply turned off his headset instead of ignoring lightnings multiple requests to clear the line) i would be angry too! and i think that the moral of the story being “act like youre at home Everywhere” is such a harmful thing to tell people 😭

also strongly dislike how mater pushed a romantic relationship onto holley, who is quite literally decades younger than he is and was very Not into it ..

💛 - unpopular opinion about a main character

i think that the concept of cruz’s grandfather being a race fan should have stayed in. this probably isnt unpopular, but genuinely it would have made her as a character so much less.. flat.. it would have given her REASON to wanna be a racer - to make her grandfather proud. giving her a reason would have been much better than the just Out of Nowhere fight, and in that concept lightning and her make up right then and there (plus, instead of him being an ass and debating whether he was right or not like he did in the movie, his anger in the concept comes from a place of just.. genuine stress, adrenaline, and probably being overwhelmed in the moment.)

💚 - unpopular opinion about a side/background character

i dont really understand the hype around the wgp racers? like this isnt a jab at anyone but i just cannot grasp it 😭 my ooh ooh ah ah brain cant understand enjoying characters with no lines or screen time. i applaud the people who do love them though i cannot fault u for having silly little guy brainrot

Ok, so the thing is, I have a very strange relationship with him.

He's so silly, right? He so fun, he's adorable, so caring and well meaning, but I'm scared of him. I wouldn't want to meet him. I'm terrified even though he's so nice 😭. So I'd rather observe from a distance (hence the drawing ^ but I'd definitely set off his senses a lot.)

(What does it say about me that I'm scared of Shin/Cone but not Kaito? I'm working on overcoming my fear of Conan/Shin, I promise *on my hands and knees* I REALLY AM)

(My irl friend understands why I'm so terrified, I've explained the crazy stunts he's done and his very illegal spy equipment to them... they actually got a nightmare about Conan that night. He's such a law breaking little gremlin (affectionate)) So...no kisses for you, detective... only because I'm too intimidated 😭 But I'll gladly make content dedicated to you and fawn over you <3

If it's not already obvious, Kai > Shin/Cone for me. But he's definitely a close second.

Shin's/Cone's aesthetic? So peak. His detective work and general vibes with the series is so banging. That clean formal attire - I love wearing more formal stuff out. Being judged for it? At this point I don't really care hahaha. His mismatching outfits are so endearing, but I don't really vibe with them.

Sammy used his connection to the ink demon to recieve messages and learn more on how to survive in this new situation and Grant made sure the lost ones acted accordingly. [A role not so far off from the one he was forced to take when the studio started facing troubles before his death] Grant also took the job of dealing with sacrificing souls and sending them back to the dark puddles, which sometimes was members of the following chosen at random and sometimes whatever poor soul found themselves captured by them.

However when Malice rose from the puddles and made a deal with the Projectionist to seize a considerable amount of the studio as theirs, the cult was split up, Sammy and Jack forced to flee to the music department and Grant with the rest of the following being down in the area of Chapter 4. This put Grant in a very bad spot, the lost ones were very shaken by this event and since then Grant worries their faith in him has wavered.

An important thing with the ink demon cult was that it is meant to be a more realistic take on how a cult works. The Ink Demon runs the cult, he is the most powerful figure in it and yet the hardest to contact, so Grant and Sammy are little more than middlemen tasked with keeping things running or else they face the ink demon's wrath. Sammy is sadly very aware that the ink demon is not as benevolent as he or the lost ones would like the believe. Grant likes to think being the Priest will at the very least protect him if things go wrong, but he is sadly mistaken.

Grant is in a very dangerous spot, he knows the lost ones beneath him are getting angsty and worried about just how truthfully safe the cult is or if they should believe in the power of the ink demon. But he also knows if things fall apart the lost ones will come to tear him apart long before they go for the ink demon. Despite him merely being a puppet for their lord. A role Grant is not ready to acknowledge, not because he isn't smart enough to see he is just a pawn, but because he chooses not to think about it, less his paranoia eat him alive yet again... A very important thing to keep in mind with Grants character.

Grant did in fact play this role in life as well however, when things started going wrong in the studio, Joey was very quick to turn away from what was going on and continue asserting everything would be fine. Which while a lie he himself believed was a lie nonetheless. However Grant quickly became his right hand man as people like Thomas and Wally started noticing cracks forming all through out the studio. Staff going missing, the ink changing in the way it behaved and an eerie feeling the machine created in both of them.

Grant despite deep down being smart enough to know things were going poorly, parroted Joey's words, hanging off of them himself and doing whatever he could to shut down any attempts to bring to light the things going wrong. Of course, him and Joey both ended up paying the price for their lies, but so did everyone else around them. But unlike Sammy, Grant barely even seemed shaken to see that, like a conspiracy theorist seeing evidence their theory isn't true only makes them double down harder, Grant only seemed to double down on the idea that if he followed every order he was given. Surely things would turn out better this time.

So that's canon to the story of Showtime, but I do want to take a second to get some AU non canon ideas out of my brain centering around Grant and his relationship to both Joey n Sammy. In canon Grant's only romantic interest is Thomas, his literal husband and there is a lot of interesting conflict there, but I fucking love shipping so of course I have a million aus merely indulging in ships I think would also be interesting to explore in their own contexts. In this case, I'm gonna ramble a bit about Sammy x Grant and Grant x Joey and the interesting things I think there are to explore in their relationships in Showtime.

So you might've noticed that while not literally [as saying the ink demon is Joey in Showtime, while somewhat true, is not the entire truth of the situation and simplifies it quite a bit] Grant did end up following Joey to the grave... And then kept following him beyond it. Something that is objectively~ very queer of him.

There's just something so compelling about the idea of Grant yearning for Joey so much, being so close yet so far as his right hand man but not being brave enough to become his lover eventually drove Grant's love for Joey to become an outright obsession. The idea that Grant's feelings for Joey became so intense from how hard he pushed them down it blinded him from seeing the truth of the situation outside of the way Joey painted it. Then dying and his obsession turning into an outright worship of him.

The idea of Grant settling for just being Joey's favorite lackey, his most loyal pet and knowing that's his role but not caring bc at least it makes him stay by Joey's side. Ohh it's an interesting one to say the least. I even did a few sketches of them u can see-

However when it comes to Sammy and Grant, I think there is a lot of interesting potential between them too. After all they share being the Ink Demon's henchmen in all of this and to see them both come to terms with that and try to find comfort in each other is such a fun idea to me.

An au where they both decide to ditch the cult and the ink demon and on their own try to figure out what happened to Joey and how to fix things is very compelling to me. I could see their relationship starting out as doing all these things for each other under the excuse they just need comfort until it starts to turn to actual feelings for each other. Both of them coming to terms with the fact Joey was not in fact a perfect person and maybe didn't even know how bad things were getting deep down himself but also finally letting themselves hold him accountable for the lies he told... It's a very fun healing narrative and very in line with a lot of the themes It's Showtime deals with.

Either way, I just really love what I've done with Grant's character in It's Showtime, he's for sure one of the most fascinating to me and the themes his story explores are ones that are important to the story as a whole and by extension me. Ive seen so many arguments for the shipping things in poppys playtime. I kinda get where all of you are coming from, but let me lay down some facts that we know from chapter 1,2, 3 and all the lore we've as a whole collected. So yes toys were made but the people in them didnt technically die, lived bc poppys typically contain opium, and then their memories were mostly wiped as they were immortalized as toys. Their organs? Intact and growing, as well as bones as we can clearly see with catnap. Not to mention we know they lived because if they died it would be a failed experiment. We see this when dead mice dont live in a failed experiment before. (Or at least from what i can remember i will probably go on a deep dive soon to find all of the lore once more.) The death dates are so the playtime co doesnt get idk sued or something. Better to say "We couldn't save him/her/them 🥺👉👈" then to say "We turned this kid from a kid to A CAT TOY!! 😎😎😎" 😭😭😭 Things we dont know are if their brains develop more as time goes by, personally i think they do because they went insane. (Dont stop reading here it gets better) Thats also why they can eat, and they need protein to grow probably, which is why i think catnap is also the way he is and dogday and poppy didnt get much, if any, substance. Now what we really should be thinking of isnt what age are they so we can ship them but more is it morally okay to ship the monsters?

Personally no, no its not. I agree that theyre 10 years older sure but i dont think they have the mental processing for a deep romantic relationship. Im not trying to be rude but they were stuck in a factory underground for practically their whole lifes. I just want them to be free and happy or to die peacefully because they obviously didnt get either no matter how you read the games. Not to mention the lack of health lessons for any of those things. If the experiments were done pre cartoon. In the cartoon its safe to assume that theyre all adults due to having their own houses with no parents in sight. Ughhh from what I’ve seen of the avengers academy comics I think I’m gonna have to rethink my Nate plot….lol not a bad thing…I just wanna make this thing good lol…is avengers academy in 616? If so that makes bringing Nate back into the young avengers fold so much easier, but then does he go back to iron lad or stay kid immortus? Can he be a young avenger as kid immortus? I mean Carol knows he’s back in some way shape or form why hasn’t she told the other young avengers? Is it reductive to have him rejoin the team as they take over being the avengers of earth whilst the mainline avengers are in the impossible city in space, do I rename the young avengers the new avengers like that one team billy and Teddy were on…do Cassie and Nate get back together or do I let them go their seperate ways romantically (I kinda like Cassie and Kate because of volume 1)…my current idea is Carol does indeed inform either Cassie or Kate or both that he’s back and they both storm over like hey tf when were you gonna tell us you’re ok?! *grabs* we all missed you so much you’ve missed so much from over the years we’re catching up! ok wow hi i am late to this sorry; there is a LOT to unpack here so let me just dissect this ask by its points:

1) yes avengers academy is in 616

2) “can he be a young avenger as kid immortus” i don’t see why not! despite going by that now nate seems to be chilling with the rest of the school which implies his role as kid immortus is not inherently villainous

3) i… do not think carol recognizes him 😭 straight up she doesn’t even know who he is lol

while they both appeared in children’s crusade i don’t think carol and nate ever interacted (if they did it isnt memorable enough for me, #1 nate richards guy, to recall) and her main point of reference for nathaniel richards is the older evil versions of him that she’s more familiar with going up against, so i don’t blame carol for immediately going “NATE RICHARDS?!?!” at the sight of him. also important to note that the entirety of children’s crusade nate NEVER takes his helmet off, so carol wouldn’t have a distinct face to recognize as well. maybe when nate starts mentioning more time travel stuff around her she’ll put the pieces together, or if he just straight up talks to her about it lmao.

4) i don’t think him rejoining the team would be reductive, no — if anything him rejoining the team would be good for nate, i think. it shouldn’t happen immediately because he did just get to the academy and i’d like to see him form relationships outside of the ya, god knows the guy needs more friends and a fresh start, but i do want him to ultimately reunite with the team. there’s a lot of stuff that they haven’t fully resolved with each other in regards to nate and him being back gives the perfect opportunity for that

5) these story beats for your au(?) like names and relationships are up to you tbh, just take the ideas you like & go with what feels right instead of trying to force it all to directly follow canon. at least that’s how i’d usually approach it lmao

wrt to cassnate: i ship cassnate so i am biased to them getting together officially BUT i also wouldn’t mind if they never got romantically involved again. there’s clearly still feelings there based on their interactions in children’s crusade (cassie literally introduced nate to her dad before her OWN BOYFRIEND 😭😭) and paradox lost so i think they deserve to be able to properly explore them but it really just depends on a lot of stuff. also cassie is with kristoff so uh that’d be awkward unless she broke things off with him lmao. no matter what, though, i do want some sort of resolution for all the stuff that’s transpired with both of them involved and for the two to be able to properly sit down and talk about it all. they have both witnessed each other die at the hands of doom and that has to do something to them trauma-wise

6) YES I LOVE THE JAMMIES!! those panels are so special to me, mainly because we rarely ever get nate in casual wear 🥹 in a majority of his appearances he’s just worn the armor, and the only non-armor outfits he was shown in were his school uniform and tanktop + underwear in v1. i’m hoping that with nate officially at the academy that we’ll see more of him in different everyday outfits and be able to learn what exactly his fashion sense is

7) funny you mention natebilly because i LOVE that crackship lmao. you definitely don’t have to worry about being judged for liking it because that pairing (albeit rare compared to b&t) has been around for a while thanks to that children’s crusade oneshot lol, i’ve even known some people in the past who were into it. ship or not, nate and billy definitely had a bond, platonic or otherwise, that i wish had the chance to be explored more.

i do wonder what billy thinks of nate now, after what he did in children’s crusade. if the years and distance apart means that they can never go back to being the friends they once were. or perhaps that old spark could still be rekindled. it’s stuff like this that makes me yearn for a proper reunion, if only to get answers to my burning questions about nate’s relationships, which are so sadly under-explored at the moment. maybe with him back we’ll get to see, who knows…

Because i saw someone mention an au for Miguel where AI marriage was legalized and accepted, maybe to make it more palatable, i dunno. AI relationships, i feel, are romantic but ultimately tragic, a reflection on humans fearing rejection so they turn to partners that would never (and unable to) abandon them

I like holofang because its intrinsically sad. Lyla is may have or gain enough sentience to love Miguel back, which is a fun concept to explore. But the way an AI loves you will never be same as a real human loving you back

So he's unable to love himself, right? He isnt naturally in love with Lyla, how do we even define it, but he may be in love with the fact that she loves him? He feels loved because of her and she is empty of personal wants and desires, so its all about him. He can get all the love of being with someone without the pain.

Like he is just trying to love himself through a mimicry of person that knows all this flaws, imperfections, and loves him anyway, because she's not human enough to have a line to cross. She'll sass him, she'll tease him, she'll give just enough resistance in their interactions to feel real with no real threat of disagreement.

She will love him no matter what, because only an AI can truly love unconditionally. I dont think Miguel has anyone that will do that for him.

Even his own mother looked happy to have a good reason to love him after finding out he was Spider-Man in the comics haha
