Best era for each dreamcatcher member?

This was such a fun ask to answer! It was a bit hard for some of the girls, as I felt they had fit in multiple eras, but I went with my gut and picked what I thought fit best with each girl. I did provide a bit of reasoning and fun, no harm intended commentary on each of my choices, so I hope you got your questions answered!

Yoohyeon - Fly High (Prequel)

Gonna be honest, it was between Fly High and You and I, but I had to go with Fly High because I like Fly High more

Her stage presence is immaculate this era - as it is every era, but I think she shines most in brighter concepts than darker ones.

I think the styling fits her the best this era

I just really like her voice on Fly High. I couldn't exactly tell you why, but I do tend to really enjoy her vocal performances on brighter songs.

I'll never forget the first time I watched this MV and saw Yoohyeon kill the spider with the magnifying glass - it was both traumatizing and iconic.

Siyeon - What (Alone In The City)

The way she sings the chorus is so addicting, and the chorus itself is super catchy too.

Like, her voice starts to sing the chorus and then I'm fully immersed in the atmosphere of the song.

I really like how she was styled this era!

I think this was the era that I started to notice how fantastic Siyeon's stage presence is

Ms. Lee Siyeon is one of the main reasons why I enjoy Wonderland so much - her voice and energy perfectly match the song. It's so hard to take your eyes off of her whenever they perform this song!

JiU - Piri (The End Of Nightmare)

The dress they gave her was so pretty, like I don't even care that the styling was mostly that outfit in different colors, please give me more-

Dami - Scream (Dystopia: Tree of Language)

Ah, yes, the one everyone was waiting for LOL.

Her "Devil eyes come" part still has me in a firm chokehold, and I have to repeat that part multiple times before I can listen to the song like a normal person.

I also am being held in a chokehold by her Red Sun and Black or White raps, but I am not complain because those really are some of her best verses to date.

I really am in love with her hairstyle and hair color this era.

The styling for this era - for all of the promoted songs - really is some of the best styling for Dami in my opinion. I'm already a sucker for women in suits, but Dami's Red Sun dresses? Whew, that really helped place her in the ultimate bias spot. I'm not joking you - I have a picture of her in one of those Red Sun dresses as my home screen on my phone.

SuA - Boca (Dystopia: Lose Myself)

Okay, listen, I know I might get dragged for not putting Dami here but hear me out-

I love SuA's voice in the pre-chorus, it's so beautifully haunting - I love it!

Whoever decided that she should dance in the rain with wet hair and a soaked dress needs a raise ASAP-

The concept photos and outfits this era really play to SuA's visual strengths - her strong jawline really compliments the make-up and outfits they put her in.

'Too many angels dying now, I'm gonna change your mind~" Pure iconic-ness right there. Like the queen she is, SuA is lifted above all of us to show how good of a vocalist she really is. No further explanation needed, your honor, I rest my case-

Handong - Odd Eye (Dystopia: Road To Utopia)

My girl came back with a BANG, like my god-

Handong's chorus part plus her part in the bridge are some of the best parts in the song.

I liked the styling for Odd Eye, but whoever decided her outfits for Wind Blows also needs a big ol' raise

Iconic Handong Wind Blows Chorus + she sings part of the chorus and then leads part of the post-chorus dance break!

Hair color was immaculate on her - I hope she goes back to that color again, it so complimented her

Gahyeon - BEcause (Summer Holiday)

Facial expressions, stage presence, and acting was on POINT by Gahyeon

Styling complimented her visuals a lot - the space buns and the dresses are my favorite styling this era for her

Gahyeon chorus part is so good and catchy - I always sing along to it!

Is a major part of the iconic intro choreo, and the outro choreo has her as the center AS SHE SHOULD BE-

*BONUS!* OT7 - Maison (Apocalypse: Save Us)

Is it here because they got their first and second win because of this song? Yes, absolutely, but I still have more reasons as to why this is my favorite OT7 era.

Jokes aside, this is my favorite OT7 era in terms of styling and hair colors/styling - Yoohyeon's cookies 'n cream hair (I don't know how else to describe it, but it's cool as hell), Gahyeon's short hair, and the white goddess-styled dresses were some of my favorite parts.

DAMI CENTER INTRO I REPEAT DAMI CENTER IN THE INTRO THIS IS NOT A DRILL PEOPLE-

Despite what a lot of people say, I think Maison is a complete bop - it's such an earworm, the chorus is so catchy, and that song has one of the best outros I've ever heard.

Group B-sides are fantastic - Locked Inside A Door is like a classic DC b-side to a T which makes it so good, Starlight is the song I've been waiting for them to make since I got into them and oh my goodness did they exceed my expectations tenfold, Together is so fun and bouncy - I definitely get why people say it's club music, and Always is a beautiful ballad that shows off their fantastic voices.

The solo songs were excellently crafted and perfectly showed off their personalities! I don't think I could pick a favorite even if you forced me to - there's too many interesting, catchy, and excellent parts of each song that makes them incomparable to each other (at least to me)

Lost Fantasia recap

This is crazy long so i’ll put it under the cut!

Pre concert they play most of VIXX’s mvs on the big screens which is fun. (Super Hero and Rock Ur Body are suspiciously absent lol)

About 5 minutes before concert start time there’s this super loud count down...but after a few seconds it fades into a song? It scared me both nights tho lol!

1st Vcr - its all in black and white, people walking around in animal masks, and we see the members one by one, frozen in place seemingly?

The big curtain falls and the members are lowered from the raised platform while intense music plays

They’re wearing these sparkly Silver zigzag jackets and matching pants, they get into formation to perform and the first song is Odd Sense! It starts awesome with really cool lighting (all the lightsticks turn red) but a few seconds in the backing vocals totally cut so its just vixx singing live and the music is a bit quieter, they keep going a little longer but then suddenly the whole song cuts and Hakyeon apologizes and asks if they can start again. The lights go off and the members exit the stage.

We ended up waiting about a full hour for the technical issues to be resolved and the atmosphere was super tense; starlights were so upset and they were kind of cursing at jellyfish? At one point they chanted for an apology 😅I was seriously worried that if the problem wasn’t resolved something terrible would happen...

But the concert finally resumed and the members appeared exactly were they had been when the music cut; they performed Odd Sense, followed by Escape (during the the “run away” part starlights were even louder than ravi) and then Silence!

1st Talk session: first the members apologized again for the issues and Hakyeon asks for starlights to give them strength/energy by still cheering loudly. They go on to talk about hair colors; Hongbin has purple hair (at fans request!) Leo has blond instead of silver bc he couldn’t take any more bleach, Ravi dyed his hair to be the same color as Hyuk? Hakyeon pokes Ravi insistently waiting for Ravi to talk about his gray highlights (Ravi ignores him for a while but then finally they acknowledge Hakyeon^^)

The next song is Fantasy, after which the members disappear but Ravi stays (he took his jacket off and has the white shirt and black harness on) and does a mini solo performance (I’m calling these solos ‘mini’ bc they’re really not quite as long as the usual solo performances we see?) Ravi performs with female back up dancers and then at the end walks back upstage where the other members are waiting ( and also wearing the White shirts, black pants + harnesses)

They perform Into the void, while seated/standing with these two props shaped like some kind of rocks. After the song the members walk down stage (Leo, Ravi and Hakyeon go to the middle; Hyuk and Hongbin go all the way to the left side of the stage; and Ken goes all the way to the right) they perform Six feet under — its so hype live, I really loved it!!

2nd talk: Hakyeon complements Ravi’s performance, and asks Ravi shoot hearts to each floor/section of the audience. Then they ask what song starlights would like to see next, because the audience is not really in sync (some people are asking Leo to shoot hearts also)  Leo shoots a powerful heart before they start Trigger. This choreo oh my god!! Everything from running gun hands down their long legs, the members circling round Hakyeon poised to shoot + and the killer moment: Ravi grips Ken from behind and shoots towards the audience 👀

Then they do Beautiful killer (with even more gunhands) and descend into the stage

2nd Vcr: solo scenes!

Ravi is in the rain holding an umbrella, but the then he drops it and just lets the water soak through his jacket, then he takes of the jacket and his shirt is all wet and see though;; he throws the jacket at the audience/camera and disappears!

Hyuk has an aesthetic scene in a phone booth & with the ground covered in rose petals?? He steps out and holds a blue potion and disappears when the rose petals fall around him

At an aesthetically neon bar Hakyeon surveys the scene, looking #opulent. He considers different wines but then he snaps his fingers and a bottle of champagne appears. He pours a glass, holds it close to smell the aroma, and tosses it in our face, causing him to disappear.

Leo appears draped in sheer tapestry, wearing a blindfold(?) which he takes off. Then he just, rolls around pressing into the mattress and stuff, and disappears (I can’t describe this okay, he was a hoe and that’s all you need to know)

Ken walks into a room with bathtub & candles, he looks seductively at the candles and drips some wax into the bath water. Then he blows out one of the candles and disappears

Hongbin is in the forest at night, surrounded by mist, he disappears in the mist

Finally the screen says simply “What exists is the scent of the soul”

Hongbin appears in red and does a mini solo with female back up dancers,

The members appear in formation for Scentist, wearing red fringed jackets with no undershirts — also Ravi’s has a cut out in the back 👀

During Scentist lots of mist stuff came out, idk if it was actually scented but it looked cool!

Members descend into stage again, but Leo reappeared to do his mini solo with two male back up dancers, they grind on the floor and other things;; priming us for the next performance Circle. There are mic stands and the 6 people standing behind them are clearly intimately familiar with sin

3rd Talk: mostly they talk about the performances they just did, especially Hongbin and Leo’s solo parts, move on to the next song

They perform My Valentine (who knew chairs were actually the sexiest prop possible) Love Me Do is next, and the members disappear at the end, but Hyuk reappears to do mini solo reprise of Love Me Do with male back up dancers

3rd Vcr: all the members are together at a cute bar; eating drinking, reacting to vixx old stages and music videos. They talk about their memories and Hyuk gets emotional 😭

Ken rises from the stage, sings a beautiful mini solo ballad. He’s wearing all white with a long, sparkly blue coat

The VCR screens fill with constellations, and six boxes appear in the back. The members appear one by one to sing their parts of the ballad medley (which includes On A Cold Night, 닮아, 12345, Bad Bye, and maybe more?) wearing the same outfits as Ken. When members appear their box lights up and the screen behind them has their birthstone (Same as from Shangri-la birthstone version!)

The members reappear but sitting on the stage and this time they sing Us Now, near the end of the song Starlights on the second floor do their prepared event -- they hold up sheets of paper that are either yellow or blue. Together it spells out 우린 영원을 믿어 (We believe you forever) I think its especially powerful not only because it was unexpected but because of the difficulty starting the concert today. After all, isn’t that always how it’s been for VIXX? So many struggles since the beginning but they’ve worked so hard to prove themselves to us; I know I would never leave them for anything.

4th Talk: they talk about how surprising the event was, and after getting over the surprise joke around about how Starlights were bickering whenever someone was unsure/about to put their paper down. Hakyeon talks about how funny he thinks Starlights are when they accidentally make mistakes, the confusion over the fanchant for My Valentine is especially funny to him. He asks Starlights to keep confidently making mistakes ^^

They take off the jackets and perform Chained up (This is a song that I have so much fun seeing live? Its never my favorite to listen with headphones, but on a huge stage oh my god!!) The follow up with Black out, and then the members walk off but Hakyeon stays. When the lights go back on he is surrounded by female back up dancers and has blood dripping down his chest. He does a really intense dance to scary music with lots of creepy smiles and scary expressions throughout.

The members reappear and they perform Hyde altogether (it’s made even better by the fact that Hakyeon still has blood on his clothes!)

5th Talk: Hakyeon exits (to change) and 5VIXX discuss the previous performances, and how tired they are. Leo especially looks like he’s so tired ^^; Hyuk says something about being able to keep going and he does the leg popping part from the Hyde choreo; the stage directors give him some flames to go with his leg pops which encourages him to do a bunch; the other members scold him saying he’ll burn the whole place down. Hakyeon comes back freshly changed and talks about his performance -- he asks if it was scary (we all answer 네!!!! as always but slightly unsure lol bc we’re not sure if we should say that our beloved leader was scary lol) He says that means he succeeded ^^ Then he tells us it’s time for the last stage and we all whine but Hakyeon shushes us.

They perform Desperate (how we’re all feeling at this point lol) Then they disappear and male dancers appear in the outfits from the Wind of Starlight performance. The members enter wearing silk cloaks decorated with red flowers to perform Shangri-la. 

After the members disappear, Starlights cheer 사랑해 (while the overhead logo pulsates like its charging lol) until VIXX returns to perform Milky Way. They enter in the second floor carrying balloons with the letters of their stage names. Then they do Navy And Shining Gold, after which Hakyeon says its time to go but Starlights insist (One more time!) and they start doing Heaven (which of course means doing it a bunch of times lol) the boys were super cute, running, jumping, pouring water on each other lol. Hakyeon sat down and took some selfies with fans phones

After many runs, they finally said it was time to go and for everyone to go back safely, and lots of other sweet things

The end credits was a behind the scenes video with Good Day as the bgm (which means every song on EaudeVixx was featured ^^)

I’ll forever be jealous of Starlights on the second floor but ultimately I feel so grateful to have had this opportunity and I thank VIXX and Starlights both for making Lost Fantasia the best concert possible!

Discussing Louis Tomlinson’s Back To You Playlist Pt. 3

or, song 28 is gay, i’m gay, louis is gay, everyone and everything is gay!

the last part! i feel like the latter half of a playlist is oftentimes the most important. like the end of a movie or a book, it’s the time everything gets wrapped up and closed. i’m so pleased with the end of this playlist and how the whole thing is a journey that comes to an end very positively! this only reaffirms my love for louis [as if i didn’t love him enough to burst already]! anyway, i hope you’ve enjoyed this! <3

Part 1! Part 2! Kings Of Leon – Fans Standing on a stage, enjoying the rush of energy you get from performing. The screams of a crowd. Finally getting the acknowledgement you deserve. Wanting to be number one. Clawing your way to the top. A genuine love of music. Feeling someone’s eyes on you. This is also the second song on the playlist to include the word “king” [“Go Let It Out” was the first]. Louis helped pen “What A Feeling”, which also mentions the word “king.” I think that’s worth a mention. Slate blue, copper, gold.

The Libertines – Don’t Look Back Into The Sun Moving forward. Enjoying yourself. Putting yourself first after putting yourself second for a long, long time. Paolo Nutini – Iron Sky Political statements. Rising above. Being better and doing better. Standing your ground in the face of danger. This song is a grittier, edgier version of “Imagine”. A somber, resolved, beaten-down-but-still-standing kind of song. The middle of the song is from The Great Dictator, which is a political satire movie from 1940 starring Charlie Chaplin. It was controversial at the time of its release for being antifascist and critical of the Nazi movement [in a time when the US was still at peace with Germany]. It’s worth adding here that Dunkirk is a WWII film, I think. Monochromatic blacks, greys, and whites.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Universally Speaking Dancing around subject matter. Wanting to say something, only to rephrase it. Mixed company conversation. Reaching out to someone you think you have commonality with. Admiration. Tentative touches. Getting to know someone. Falling in love. Attraction. This song continues the mentions of card games/gambling. Note that Louis had a hand in writing “Fireproof”, which also mentions card games/gambling. Ruby reds, the black and white of a tattoo.

Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Nate Dogg, Warren G – Ain’t No Fun (If The Homies Can’t Have None) Friends with benefits. Dancing with strangers all night. A smirk. Confidence. Riding down a highway at night, hotboxing the car. Sex. Bros before hoes. Bragging. Having fun. Being adventurous. I feel like Louis goat laughed when he added this to the playlist. Pot leaf green, the purple dots you see behind your eyelids when you come too hard.

The Streets – Blinded By The Lights Getting to the front of the line outside a club. Lines of powder on the back of a toilet. Dancing with someone you don’t know and will never see again. Rolling. Losing yourself to the beat of a song. Dry humping on the dance floor. Dilated pupils. The prickling of sweat on the back of your neck. A quick bathroom fuck. [As an aside: drugs are bad, kids. ;)] Probably my favourite song [that I’ve never heard before] on this playlist. Blacklight blues, neon greens.

Vampire Weekend – Cousins Being better than everyone else. Conceited inspecting of nails. Exclusivity. The irony of giving the middle finger to those who think they’re better than you when you think you’re better than them. Unconventionality. [As an aside: the discussion of this song on songmeanings dot com is interesting and I referenced it heavily for this interpretation!] Bright reds, creams, the white flash of teeth.

Important lyric: “if your art life is gritty | you’ll be toasting my health”

U2 – One [As an aside: The 28th song!] Positive messages laced with a hint of sarcasm. Bitterness. Deciding not to treat someone the way you’ve been treated. Slow poison. The impending implosion of loving someone too much, too fast, too hard. [As an aside: one speculation is that this song is written from the perspective of a gay child to their parent. And! In one version of the MV, the band members dressed in drag and drove around Berlin! This song being the 28th and with the queer connotations makes me think that Louis knows all of this and the placement was very much on purpose.] Forest greens, sepia tones.

Milburn – Last Bus Getting pissed. The last traces of a concert high. Feeling accomplished. A dash of regret and sadness. Wishing someone well when you part ways. A congratulatory round of drinks. The fear of saying too much because of lowered inhibitions. The promise of meeting again [though there may be no intention of doing so]. Settling for a handshake instead of a hug [when you really wanted that closeness but you’re unsure of how the other person will react]. Reading too much into a situation. Pavement grey, marigold.

Important lyric: “i’ll see you around”

Imagine Dragons – Thunder Self-consciousness. The fear of being Too Much and simultaneously Not Enough. Looking ahead. Making a splash. Being laughed at but having the last laugh. Proving everyone wrong. [As an aside: this being the last song really ends on a positive note. For all the songs about lost love and sadness, this one gives closure and wraps them in a neat little bow. It’s a perfect ending song to continue the beginning theme that was set with “Just Hold On”.]
