Oh auto correct kept changing Rae to Raw for some of my friends and then I think it was April who jokingly said Rawie once and I liked it ? So I kept it 🥰

Borongan City's Fiesta 2023.

The province honors the Blessed Virgin Mary, who serves as its patroness, with the Padul-ong Festival. The Waray-Waray word "borong," which meaning "fog," is where the province's name, pronounced "bo-rong-gan," comes from. The celebration honors the day they got the image. It shows a fictitious account of how the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary was mysteriously transported from Portugal to Borongan City. The festival also depicts the myth of an enigmatic "Lady in White" who is said to frequent the Hamorawan Spring.

The Lady in White has been endowing the spring waters with magical healing properties, according to the villagers. An early morning mass is held in a small chapel at Barangay Punta Maria on September 7 or 8. The Padul-ong Festival has now officially begun, according to the mass. The tiny statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary is transported from the chapel to Rawis Port. The fluvial procession, which typically kicks off the celebration at five in the morning, allows boat owners to participate in addition to the official boat that carries the miniature image across Rawis Bay.

The image is then carried in a procession to the Borongan Cathedral across the town. You can see a recreation of the Blessed Virgin Mary's transportation at the Borongan City plaza. It relates the long-standing local lore on how the picture arrived in the Philippines. Join the celebration with the Boronganons, take part in the procession, and be astounded by the performers' vibrant costumes as you take in the drumming parade's upbeat pace.

First time in the history of my life haha, that i wasn't able to witness this years fiesta celebration. Those dates i was in Manila, attending a meeting for my work. But prior to that i went wet and wild for Utopia (September 2, 2023) and that super fun! 💖
