idk if you care about the cellular parts of biology but one of my favorite things to think about is the fact that humans only get their mitochondria from the parent that supplied the egg, which means that Keith doesn't have mitochondria. What do Galra have instead? do their cells produce energy on their own? did their single-cellular ancestors absorb a different but parallel organism that functions like regular mitochondria? i don't know but I love speculating
((for anyone who didn’t have “the powerhouse of the cell” drilled into their brains at gcse level, mitrochondria are membrane-bound cell organelles that generate most of the chemical energy needed to power the cell's biochemical reactions))
I very much do care about the cellular parts of biology! I do not, however, recall implying that the galra do not have ova? On the contrary, I defined the galra as mammals - even those who outwardly appear more reptilian - due to being warm-blooded, birthing live young, and producing milk for their offspring, therefore (as in all mammals) female galra do in fact have ova: this being defined as a mature female reproductive cell which can divide to give rise to an embryo after fertilisation. As I’ve said previously, the general rule of hybridisation is that the greater the biological diversity, the lower the chances of reproductive compatibility, leading me to conclude that - seeing as externally they appear so different - human and galra people must share a great deal of their internal biology, and I suppose this must include the origin of their mitochondria!
Interestingly, in addition to their primary function of energy production for the cell, mitochondria perform the additional functions of cellular metabolism, the citric acid cycle, producing heat, controlling the concentration of calcium, and producing certain steroids, meaning that Keith inherited all these less obvious things from his galra side.

Me: Hey, school can you teach me something helpful? Like about taxes and STDs and stuff?
School: Hmmmm Yeah sure!
*three minutes later*
School: Mitrochondria is the powerhouse of the cell

My father really tried to mansplain the basic concept of cells to me
and one one hand I was graciously trying to let him do his thing
on the other hand I was fighting demons
trying not to laugh bc my brain instantly went
IF THE MITROCHONDERIA
IS THE POWERHOUSE OF THE CELL
THEN MUSIC
IS WHAT DRAGS US THROUGH HELL
