Ariel narrowly escapes the shark that was chasing her, but she managed to outrun it. When she turned around, she saw a SPEAR striking the predator, then it swam to the opposite direction. Her eyes scan to see where the weapon came from. She looked up and noticed a MERMAN WITH DARK HAIR. She never saw him before, she did not think another sea creature would dare travel in shark infested waters. The princess swims upward and smiles.

A school of tropically colored fish flurry by Eric's face in a panic and dart for cover inside the shipwreck to hide. His own shipwreck to be exact. If the MYSTERY GIRL hadn't saved him he'd be among the debris. Searching for the source of danger, he spots the sleek silhouette of a shark chasing a quite magical prey. A jagged bar of iron -- he guesses from the grid of the ship's cabin window panes -- would have to search as a makeshift javelin. The shark is too focused on the mermaid to take note of Eric swimming above. With careful aim and the elemental of surprise, he manages to hit the target.
Thankfully the shark doesn't round on him for its revenge, but relief lasts only a second before she greets him. Eric feels akin to the tropical fish: desperate to hide. He hasn't engaged with anyone or anything since his bargain with the sea witch for fins. Etiquette classes didn't include conversing with merpeople. Eric blinks as if she's something blurry he's attempting to focus, but she remains. Grimsby's voice acting as his subconscious sternly reminds him it's rude to stare.
I'm not hurt, he starts to say, but the words mouth without sound.
Oh . . . right. His voice was the personal treasure he traded for the transformation potion. It was his voice or one of his five senses and Eric puts those at the top of his necessity list. After no luck at finding his savior on land, he's grown desperate. Enough to seek out the coastal black lagoon where witches are rumored to dwell. A handful of days and he'll have his voice back along with his legs under the condition he find his anonymous rescuer and bring her back to the shore where they met. A few days are all he needs, Eric assures himself, to search for unknown islands or a rogue ship. SHE may live on either.
Eric resorts to basics and shakes his head to answer her. He gestures at her to return the question. Is she alright ?
