what i thought i signed up for getting stardew valley: farming and resource game, dating sim, horror undertones (caves, fish, etc)

what i got: getting emotionally attached to a small town life being encroached upon Big Corporation(tm) and its idiosyncratic residents with their backstories

#MAN growing up rural all my life ive LIVED this #main difference i didnt farm or fish but i knew ppl in my community who did #we had a blacksmith and various kinds of farmers and a local greenhouse and a woodworker chainsaw artist #and a fashionista who had a small vintage/thrift shop #the mayor would pay for everyone whenever he visited the local cafe (we were a dry county / no bars)#we're landlocked so no fishing....#but theres a local ruin and the national park #we had a tiny ass library #the national park / rangers office had cool shit just like gunther wtf !!!#OUR GROCERY STORE CLOSED DOWN #it closed down EXACTLY because a dollar store chain moved in !!#and then the dollar stoer chain couldnt keep up with the demand #so the gas station had to sell milk and eggs and basic groceries but it Still wasnt enough #so our community got together and sold their own produce milk eggs etc #and raised enough money to bring the grocery store back
