So hopefully this isn't going to be to confusing but basically possession is a form of magic and magic in most sense is tied to emotions in some way or another. Well when someone is possessed the person controlling them exploits one emotion and it typically varies between the victim which emotion gets exploited. At least that's what it is in my AU.
