Field Trips Are Still Fun
Today my Russian 1002 class took a field trip to the Buford Highway Farmers Market as part of our unit on food.
The only difference between field trips in grade school is that you have to find your own way there. (Luckily awesome people like Emma let you hitch a ride with them)

(Here’s Natasha telling us that Russian mustard is better than American mustard)
It was cool to see the food that we had been talking about in class with the packaging and everything in Russian. Our professor was also telling us about cultural things that make it more of an experience rather than just learning the language--like how Russians pickle everything and what type of caviar is the best.

We also got to try a selection of Russian foods. Some of the things here are mashed potatoes (пюре), borscht (борщ), sausage (колбаса), and котлет. Natasha also bought a bottle of квас for us to try. The food was really good, and we got to go shopping afterwards to buy our own selection of Russian (or other imported) foods. I ended up getting some квас for myself, as well as a couple of sweets.

Hi! I'm going to Budapest in February and I was wondering if you have any suggestions as to what places I should visit and what I should do in general while there?
well, hopefully the february won’t be freezing cold like right now, but some warm clothes you should bring.
The touristic places, the Vám Ház (big market place) is full with hungarian souvenirs and special food too. the Christmas markets are gone by now
indoor activities I suggest to do, museum visiting, depending on your interest, you can google some, I say, checking the house of terror is interesting to check.
Budai Vár (castle of buda) and várkert (castle garden [?]) could be cold to visit, because they are the best to visit them in summer! however the castle district has nice streets, some museums, and probably the most expensive places to eat at (if your wallet is not empty, you can taste them, they are probably really good!)
Eating: try kürtős kalács, you surely can find them at some places on street, trying Lángos also, if you come for other days, try other special hungarian food, if you are interested, then try gulyás (goulash), töltött káposzta (stuffed cabbage) and many other special food, which you can find in restaurants, or you can ask the waiters at the restaurant, what they can recommend for you.
I asked my mother what she would recommend and she said “go iceskating“ XD Well at some places,t he iceskating is still possible in february, probably the biggest one is in the Város liget and it will be open till the end of february (it’s near by heroes square, and at the heroes square there are museums too, also there is a thermal bath too not so far from them, which is really pretty if you want, you can visit it too!)
There are too many to remember.
