okay I will acknowledge the mcu for a moment to talk about my stellan skarsgård as bootstrap bill turner cinematic universe in which every character I've seen stellan skarsgård play is just billy bootstrap (immortal since he's on the dutchman) going through phases in his life. he got tired of all the magic shenanigans so he got into the soviet government but then all that chernobyl nonsense really fucked with him so he had that fling with meryl streep and is possibly now the father of amanda seyfried idk I remember very little of mamma mia. anyway after that he decided he was ready to get a job again so he became a scientist but then a bunch of magic shit starts happening to him again and also he gets mind controlled with magic for the second time in his very long life, but since he does have some experience with it he manages to regain some free will and build in the failsafe that they use to close that fucked up portal in the first avengers movie

Thanos was destroyed, the world was saved, it was exhausting and the Avengers could really use some holidays. Dr Erik Selvig, Thor's friend, showed him just the place : on a little island on the Greek sea is a woman -his daughter- and a wonderful hotel big enough for all of them.

Tony takes the opportunity to invite the King of Asgard : if Valkyrie is still single, he's sure Pepper and her would hit off. Unfortunatly, that also means spending an entiere week in a small place next to Steve Rogers, his beautiful smile and his incredible ass. And that, he's not sure how to survive it.

Coming Attractions - July 2018

As usual, we present monthly previews of new movies being released. These are the movies what will be hitting your local cinemas this month:

July 6th

The First Purge (July 4th) - Blumhouse’s The Purge franchise takes a step backward in time to show audiences how the very first installment of the purge happened. It is a move that makes sense for the film series since (spoiler alert) the annual purge effectively ended at the end of The Purge: Election Year and since the real world is slowly heading in a direction where annual purges will commence in the next few years.

Ant-Man and the Wasp - The Marvel Cinematic Universe will be back on the big screen this month with its third installment in five months following February’s Black Panther and April’s Avengers: Infinity War. The first Ant-Man film was a pleasant surprise back in 2015 and I am eagerly anticipating the sequel. Early reviews have been exceptionally good so hopefully, Marvel’s streak of success continues with Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Sorry to Bother You - When it premiered at Sundance earlier this year, Sorry to Bother You, the directorial debut of Boots Riley and starring Lakeith Stanfield and Tessa Thompson, was the talk of the festival. July is very crowded with a lot of movies to see and Sorry to Bother You absolutely deserves to be one of them.

July 13th

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation - I’ll be honest, one day I want to watch all the Hotel Transylvania movies. But that day won’t be coming this month. 

Skyscraper - There isn’t an actor in Hollywood right now who has the box office prowess of Dwayne Johnson, his films have grossed $9.4 billion worldwide and in the last five years alone, he has been a part of seven films to gross over $400 million worldwide. Skyscraper, which looks like a combination of The Towering Inferno and Die Hard, is Johnson’s latest blockbuster and likely the next member of his $400 million worldwide box office club. 

July 20th

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again - It has been ten years since Meryl Streep and the music of Abba hit cinemas en route to over $600 million in worldwide box office in the form of the first Mamma Mia! film. Now, the gang is back for a sequel Godfather II style with Amanda Seyfried continuing on her journey in the present and Lily James playing a younger version of Meryl Streep’s character in the past. Yes, I just compared Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again to Godfather II. Somehow Meryl Streep is in this movie, however, if you watch the trailers closely, I can’t imagine how. I am sure fans of the first film are already lining up.

The Equalizer 2 - Director Antoine Fuqua is once again teaming up with Denzel Washington for a sequel to their 2014 hit, The Equalizer which was based on a television series of the same name. While I never saw the first Equalizer film, I have heard good things. I really liked what Fuqua did with his Magnificent Seven remake, and look forward to the next movie of his for me to see.

July 27th

Mission: Impossible - Fallout - Tom Cruise returns to play IMF agent Ethan Hunt for the sixth time since 1996. It is unbelievable that the Mission: Impossible franchise continues to put out new films four to six years that feel fresh and always push the envelope in terms of film-making and stunts. Director Chris McQuarrie becomes the first person to direct two films in the series with Fallout, the follow up to 2015′s Rogue Nation (the three-year gap between sequels is also the shortest of the series). Fallout looks fantastic and just like the Fast and Furious movies, I hope they never stop making Mission Impossible movies.

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies - Only recently have I discovered the world of Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans Go! and I must admit, I absolutely love it. The show is quirky and funny and a good time for all fans of the Teen Titans. The movie looks equally enjoyable and should fill the animated DC comics movie void that was created after the release of last year’s The Lego Batman Movie.

Now for a quick look ahead to August, my top picks for next month are Searching and The Meg.
