for real this is how I've managed to start writing a fic so fucking long that it's entirely unhinged. low estimates for how long it's going to be are well over 100k, but estimates based on average word count per chapter end up at well over 300k, and the more generous estimates that I've made place it at 675k.

All this because I decided to write like nobody else was going to read it. I mean, I still publish it because how can I not with that word count, but above all else I write for myself. It's kind of terrifying, the amount of creative power this gives me, an incredibly dysfunctional person.

try writing like no one is going to read it

it's easier to let yourself go and just enjoy the process of creation when you aren't also playing 6 dimensional chess with your insecurities and anxieties

write because you have fun writing and if you never post it anywhere that's totally fine because you enjoyed your time with the process
