It’s been years and I’ve never seen anyone mention it before, so I am: when Eddie gets shot by the sniper, Buck had just taken off his mask and was still holding it, but the best I can tell, he drops it as soon as Eddie’s blood splatters on him. Yes, obviously, he freezes in shock, we know that already, but he also seems to drop the mask. His entire body probably went numb, it wasn’t just him freezing, it was his brain not sending anymore signals to the rest of his body before he sees Eddie from underneath the fire truck. Eddie looks confused when he flinches at the bullet, like he doesn’t understand what happened yet, but Buck just goes weak because he can’t process it.
