Well, both the lemon drop melons and the cantaloupe that I've planted this year have kind of been shit. Although the few we've actually gotten to eat have been tasty! They just keep cracking/bursting open before they really get any good size : (

Tbh the chickens have had more of them to eat than us at this point, so I guess there's a positive in that.

#mine #gardening #the lemon drops have been bred to do better in a greenhouse #so the rain we get every now and then will make them crack #and the cantaloupe variety I've got is apparently quite bad for cracking often too-which I wish I would have known b4 getting them :(#the cantaloupe was -really- good though...for the three I was able to harvest #the rest get up to softball size and then start breaking open on the bottom #or they get a tiny crack and it molds quickly : (#Guess I'll go with different melons next year #As for the lemon drops- they're sweet and all but not really anything groundbreaking #Kind of interesting that some of the ld's grow green (still have yellow flesh) instead of the yellow that it's supposed to be
