Very minor spoilers for Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom ahead (not story spoilers, just about the dungeons/bosses)
So my big issue with Breath of the Wild was that it felt like it lost a big part of the franchise's identity. From the franchise's inception it's had a focus on themed dungeons, key items and unique bosses, though this is more emphasized in A Link to the Past than the earlier entries.
The 4 main dungeons of the game are the divine beasts, which all have the same visual style (ancient sheikah technology) and similar gimmicks (using your sheikah slate to manipulate the 3D dungeon map and move parts of the dungeon)
This reduced sense of theming, and the fact that the game handed you all the tools you'd need to advance from the very start, just made it feel less Zelda to me.
Tears of the Kingdom really rectifies this. I've only been to two dungeons so far, the Water Temple in the skies above Zora's domain, which has reduced gravity, floating platforms and a gimmick centered on the flow of water. It also has a visual style reminiscent of the other sky islands, with white stone.
The fire temple, which I've only just reached, has a very different vibe right off the bat. It's buried in the depths beneath Death Mountain, surrounded by flowing lava, and built from rough red brick and stone. I had been worried that all of the dungeons would be generic sky islands, but thankfully it seems that the different dungeons have distinct visual styles like in older games.
Adding on to the key items, the champion powers are gone in favor of sage powers, which act more like key items (creating a shield of water that can be propelled forward to put out fires or clear away sludge, firing a goron like a fucking cannonball to destroy obstacles and damage enemies). These are necessary for entering and completing their related dungeons, but similar to key items in older games, can have other uses once unlocked (the splash is very useful if you're fighting an igneo talus and running low in arrows, it'll stun it instantly and cool it down enough that climbing it won't burn you)
TL;DR Tears of the Kingdom expands on the open world exploration of Breath of the Wild while bringing back some franchise staples and feeling more like classic Zelda updated for a modern audience.

I love this game. Honestly, it was a game I played literally through my whole four years of high school. Completed it during my last couple months of my last semester.
I replayed it last year before coronal, and it got me through some tuff times. I usually feel really depressed, but that game really helped me get through a few months last year of just hating like. Things aren't awesome now, but I have people and friends who help me, rather than needing a game lol.
if you haven't Played Ocarina of Time, please do. It so very much worth the time and money.
Also, if you want to support me, I do commissioned editing. So just send me a message if you want something made.
I am writing a book, and have posted the first chapter here! Go check it out and tell me what you think.
