Today Dandies in Danger celebrates its 5 year anniversary! What started as a game between friends has flourished into the podcast it is today because we decided to take a risk and record our adventures to share with the world.

Playing in a fantasy space together is so genuinely fun. We've enjoyed watching each other grow over the years, both as artists and as individuals. It’s an honor to be able to pass off each arc to the next storyteller and trust that they can capably lead us on a thrilling adventure and continue to add to the rich world of Dandies.

We are very lucky to have found a group of unique individuals whose talents meld together so well. This podcast takes a lot of hard work, and each of us throws our entire self into making sure Dandies is the best it possibly can be. It's a pleasure to have such reliable and understanding friends.

The Fealty of Monsters Volume 1 (March 12, 2024) Art by @t-hornapple. A gothic horror political fantasy retelling of the Russian Revolution with queers and vampires. Sasza Czarnolaski serves a human court, but no one knows he's a vampire. Sasza quickly learns that he will do anything to preserve peace in the Empire–including giving in to the monstrosity he spent so many years concealing from even himself.

The Cradle of Eternal Night (October 2024) Art by @pompoison. A standalone sapphic horror romantasy in which a bard and a witch fall in love on a quest to bring the light back to their dark world. Sapphic, magical, and tense, perfect for fans of Dark Souls and grumpy x sunshine romance.

The Institute of Manners (The Fealty of Monsters Volume 2 (2025) Art by @t-hornapple. The revolution is paused for now as our main cast goes to graduate school. Lessons include avoiding assassination attempts, uncovering the secrets of a despot, and staying on top of the rumors of a horror-worshipping cult and anti-imperial activities alike.

Writing is Hard (202?) A nonfiction craft book about things I learned about writing and publishing in the last decade between failing to get into traditional publishing and finding personal and creative satisfaction in self and indie publishing. Collected blog posts expanded with new wisdom.

I also have a whole bevy of short stories on my itch account, which is the best place to get my work if you want to leave a tip.

My favourite thing about making comic pages for my summer art course is that I can sneak in cameos and references of media I enjoy. I needed a coach driver to fill the space and make the scene more lively, and saw this as the perfect opportunity to do a quick doodle of Fergus and the LADZ from Dandies In Danger. Unfortunately, due to scale, the only one semi-identifiable in the coach is Liam due to his hair being lighter in colour.

An office horror exploring the trope of "pregnant and in peril," which annoys me very much as femme-bodied agender person. The trope appears as such: It’s the end of the world and you’re pregnant. The story doesn’t seem to care as much though. The pregnancy is only relevant as the danger around the characters dictates or until the baby has to come. Or if there’s a reason all the hospitals need to be shut down (like during a zombie outbreak). It drives up the tension. It makes the villain extra villainous if they attack the pregnant person. It’s got little to do with the parent and their child. In fact, it might just serve to reinforce the stereotypes of feminine fragility and women needing unwarranted protection.

Mod opinion: This is a short story exploring pregnancy and the horrifying way people treat pregant people as objects. It's interesting and really fun.
