I get if it’s not your genre. but you gotta understand the cultural significance of rap made by black artists#the k v. d feud made me realize how many ppl unironically will shrug off the uncomfortable reality#that ppl lead lives of violence. and then look away from it cause it’s not convenient.#even if it’s literally the easiest form of interacting w these ideas (ie rapped over a good beat)#i also dont believe that “there are songs in each genre that you'll like!” because genres literally exist to group together music#that have similarities in style composition content etc.#i dont believe everyone has to have a favorite screamo song or a favorite electronic song. not even gonna mention how specific genres can g#but with a genre as wide and historically/culturally/socially expansive as rap??? you at least gotta be able to understand its significance#its like looking at classical music and saying all of it is shit cause you fall asleep 2 seconds into a Dvorak piece
