#the irony of the fact that she later dies from a fall isn't lost on me but shhh the game has spoken

So, when I make new characters in game, I like to challenge myself to go as far as possible in the story/map completion without a single death. Then, when it happens, I take note and try to work it into their backstory as an injury or close call of sorts.
Well, today it happened to be Poffi's turn. I did in fact go nearly 50% of map completion without a single death, but then it finally happened in the silliest way: an accidental dodge as I was gathering cultivated herbs in the asuran home instance sent her down the cliff.
You can bet your ears that I worked that into her backstory as an accidental fall down a ditch next to her family's lab, back when she was still a progeny. She had learned how to cook quite early and wanted to make a nice meal for her uncle (who took her in after her mother died) since it was his birthday, and she finally got an idea when she spotted some rare herbs that were growing in a hard-to-reach place next to the lab. Well, she did manage to harvest them, but her foot slipped and she tumbled down the ditch. She was scratched and sore all over, but she had a mission and the herbs were successfully in her hand, so she climbed out of it, quickly medicated and cleaned herself after sneaking back into the lab, and then went to the kitchen like nothing had happened [because right after the fall I went and unlocked the last ascended recipes with her, since she's my second cook]. Poor Chegg got so scared when he saw his niece all bruised up that he didn't even get to taste the meal, but in the end she was fine and even got a personal herb garden in a corner of the lab out if it.
#Skye says stuff#Skye plays gw2#Poffi#my ocs#gw2 ocs#I was majorly bummed for a single moment and then my brain blurted out this lore bit so now everything is fine#the irony of the fact that she later dies from a fall isn't lost on me but shhh the game has spoken#you can see I'm here dying to write OC stuff but I got comm work to do T_T#rambles

LIFE —
this city is haunted...
being raised by a single mother isn’t always easy. in fact, it was never easy until vera’s mother began to work her way through the upper class of new york city. it was her mother’s job, after all. a last-ditch effort to keep little vera off the streets that soon afforded them a lavish lifestyle to which vera quickly grew accustomed.
still, watching men fall at her mother’s feet for the right price reason wasn't a genuine fairytale. behind the glitz of the champagne fountains, lavish jewellery adorning her mother's neck, the opera, and ballet, there was nothing but darkness when vera was forced to sit alone in her room for hours while her mother did whatever with whomever. she was lonely even when she wasn't alone.
the more vera saw her mother change from a man-swindling businesswoman to a swooning, fawning piece of arm candy to men who didn't care for her at all, the more she began to resent their lifestyle altogether. she felt guilt, at first, her emotions bold and fiery and unrelenting even when she was young, but as the years passed, and mother drifted further and further, vera turned hard and icy. she locked her heart away and swore never to rely on anyone else. least of all, a man.
vera was seventeen when her mother died, of circumstances vera still isn't clear on, and the whole world threatened to crumble around her. nothing could console her. nothing could offer her solace from the aching, desperate grief. not even the embrace of the white crocodiles, whom her mother was an associate of. nothing. so, vera fled. she packed what possessions mattered, photographs, a delicate pearl ring that belonged to her mother, and left new york city for good... or so she thought.
the irony was glaringly obvious when she moved back to the city five years after she left. everything felt different, and everything felt exactly the same. every street was tainted with memories that flashed behind her eyes whenever she dared to close them.
now, over a decade later, vera has remained behind the walls she built of ice and stone but found a way to mask those walls with florals and beautiful imagery. she clawed her way to her position at Stoneage Industries and cared little for the people she stepped on along the way. it's not that vera is heartless, though some (including she) may claim she is. she is like this because she has to be for survival. for vera knows what disappointment, loss, and pain feel like. she knows loneliness so well she swears it's etched into her bones. perhaps that is why vera feels so at home amongst the chaos, sitting on top of a pile of money brought in by robots and replicants. she envies their ability to feel nothing.
"mom, i am a rich man."
EXTRAS —
those she works with, and those who work for her, likely see her as professional and stoic. when she's at work, she is buried in it. CFO at Stoneage Industries is the perfect distraction from anything and everything else.
she likes to get what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it by any means necessary. scheming? she's a fan. when her plan doesn't succeed, and she's left without a prize, she can be found in her bathtub with a glass of scotch in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
despite her insistence to never rely on a man, she will use them and can be found doing so after hours when she's looking to blow off some steam.
aside from the ring, the only connection she still has to her mother is her association with the white crocodiles.
although she can be difficult to please and impossible to argue with, vera is also a little rascally. she likes a little mischief. in fact, sometimes she pushes people's buttons just for fun. she will swindle you out of twenty bucks she doesn't even need with a smile on her face.
there is (almost) nothing vera loves more than being underestimated. it gives her an upper hand she is more than willing to take.
there is a softness to her reserved for intimate moments that truly matter to her.
CONNECTIONS —
coming soon...

©Mochi_archer2021
A/N: There are more revelations slowing thrown into the story, which probably add more suspense to it.
A side note: Taehyung is speaking Italian on call and I've added their translations in English.
"What's wrong?" questions Jiyeon seeing Namjoon's stern expression.
"Nothing. Just my cousin," replies Namjoon and shrugs it off.
"I'll leave. I think you should receive the call. I'll message you later, if possible."
With that, Jiyeon leaves the solemn café for Namjoon to attend to his work.
Taehyung rests himself on a couch awaiting a call. Thoughts swirling around, branching and closing in, he seemed a little dull. He reaches for a file that was placed on a small coffee table in front of him.
He randomly turns the pages and lets out a sigh, there was something eerie about it.
The file was placed back on the same spot as before and now he reaches for his phone that was ringing.
On-call
Santiago:
È passato un po' di tempo, Taehyung.
(It's been a while, Taehyung.)
Taehyung:
Esso ha. Come stai, Santiago?
(It has. How have you been, Santiago?)
Santiago:
Veramente? Me lo stai chiedendo?
(Really? You are asking me that?)
Taehyung:
*chuckles*
Santiago:
Ho sentito che hai ricevuto il file.
(I heard you've received the file.)
Taehyung:
*hums*
Io ho.
(I have.)
Santiago:
Cosa ne pensi?
(What do you think?)
Jiyeon walks through the streets of Seoul on a warm sunny morning. She wanted to let go of herself today. To be free and to feel the freedom flowing through her body.
Dancing along with the breeze, she finds herself walking randomly to the music of the populace. She loved being quiet amidst the crowd.
Sauntering through the bustling city of Seoul, Jiyeon enjoyed the immunity. Women and men rushing for work, young lads delighted to meet their friends, it was entertaining. Reminiscing her middle and high school days, the days she did have friends. Now, she was an unchained canine in their eyes. That's a major irony.
Her whole life seemed to be a joke. Parents didn't care about her until she did something that degraded them.
Why not do it? Humiliating her parents. That seemed to be a plan. Once executed, her existence would become more soulful.
But she was too tired at this point to even hold herself, bored to even think of her brother. She tells herself that she doesn't care about anything, anymore.
Her body slightly slams into another figure which brought her down from her thoughts. Silent apologies said Jiyeon realised she was near the airport once again. She wanted to blame herself for not being headstrong.
"Help! A thief!" pedestrian cries and that caught Jiyeon's attention.
Running towards the pregnant woman who had screamed for help, Jiyeon made sure she was alright. Immediately, our troubled girl zooms past people, following the thief.
She found her target at the junction waiting for the signal to go green.
'Looks like he cares for his life. But, wrong decision,' Jiyeon hisses internally.
Taking the red signal and the fact that she knew the location well to her advantage, she took a shortcut that leads to the other side of the junction.
The poor thief who wasn't aware of Jiyeon following him was landed an uppercut on his neck making him crash to the ground. His neck immediately swelled, pain gushing throughout.
It was all thanks to Jungkook for training her back in middle school days. Jiyeon never stopped practicing even after he left because she didn't want to forget.
Jiyeon took the woman's purse into her custody and places one of her legs on the culprit's legs making him whimper in pain. With her chest heaving from the running, she took her phone out and called the nearest police station.
Giving the officer the address, she tied the man up to a pole and left the scene a little later when she heard the sirens.
Jiyeon walked back to the entrance of the Airport where the woman had been, to return the purse only to find a huge crowd. She pushed through the crowd to find the woman lying down on the ground struggling in pain.
"Call an ambulance!" Jiyeon exclaims as one of the passers-by informed her that they called one already.
Astonished, Jiyeon bent down to help her by getting her into a comfortable position, one that wouldn't strain the body and especially the baby inside the woman. Another person handed her a bottle of water, instantly unscrewing the cap and made the pregnant woman drink.
"Please, stay with me. The baby will be alright," Jiyeon mutters softly to calm the agitated woman.
"Breathe," she continues. "Everything's fine."
Soon, the ambulance arrived and also, the woman's husband came running in frantically. The man kept thanking Jiyeon for saving their baby.
"Take care of your baby well. Shower them with love," Jiyeon stresses, as she smiles and walks away.
Love meant so much to her. People are always craving for something they don't have.
Was it greedy to ask for love?
The Jeon Manor was in the shadows of anger after Jiyoung found her sister's engagement ring abandoned in a room. Poor Jiyeon was already labelled a married woman, somebody who had to flaunt off the engagement.
Jiyeon, supposedly bounded by a ring escaped, was the first thought that entered her mother's mind. The woman didn't give a damn, she was fuming because according to her, Jiyeon was making an effort in building herself, attempting to live. Mrs Jeon didn't want the artificial chains to disappear. A sadist, she was, for wanting eternal power and rights over Jiyeon, obsessed with keeping the free soul in control like she always did.
What made Mrs Jeon hate her blood? Why was she captivated to harass her daughter?
That was her nature. Maybe she chose favourites over time. Maybe she loves Jiyoung. Maybe she loves Jungkook. But, Jeon Jiyeon wasn't loved. And this became the Universal Rule at the Jeon Mansion.
The unsettled ambience of the mansion seemed to be intensifying over time as the youngest daughter of the Jeon Family made her way home.
Each second felt slowly paced as Jiyeon's footsteps slowly rang Mrs Jeon's ears. Without a second thought, the older woman briskly walked to the entrance of the mansion.
A showdown? No.
A tired Jiyeon was received with a vigorous slap on the face continued with humiliation.
"How dare you throw your engagement ring away?"
Jiyeon sneers, which only brought the worst out of her mother.
"Disgraceful wench," Mrs Jeon mutters which was heard to Jiyeon.
Trying to save the last bit of self-respect that she had, she turned around to go to her room. Stopping her, Mrs Jeon harshly pulls her by her hand as Jiyeon struggles under her hold as the ring was placed, unrequited.
"Mom, don't upset the birthday girl," the newly arrived Jiyoung says as he releases her mother's hold on Jiyeon and helps her.
Jiyeon was surprised to see her sister helping her but there were times where she showed her fake sympathy and this was one of them.
Without giving much thought, Jiyeon was ready to leave as her sister calls, "Wait up! Let's celebrate your birthday tomorrow, here," she says and passes over a card to her.
Taking the card, Jiyeon silently walks away trying to avoid unnecessary conversation with anyone.
Today was an exhausting day for her. Though it wasn't sunset yet, she was tired. She's neither had breakfast nor lunch and yet no one cares. How much thought had she given over her situation that she doesn't even know why everyone hates her. She used to internally yell at herself, to ask someone in the family as to why they hate her, but she couldn't. As much as she wanted to know the truth, she was afraid. Afraid that she would become transparent. Afraid that she would become lonely and stray. That being said, she tried to forget and blend with the others, maybe even try to comprehend them, but that led her to nowhere. There was only endless suffering that followed. Without having a source to express her hate. It all became a poisonous froth that was floating within, destructing herself.
The ones that cared, are extinct from her life. No one knows of this poor soul, her cries for help unheard. She was sailing on a log, her journey unending. What was to become of this girl, her life being a mirage?
She was now crying to herself, mixed emotions flaring through her soul. Rubbing her eyes, she reads the content of the card that Jiyoung gave her.
"Come to the Cosmos Hotel, tomorrow at 7:00 pm. I've got a gift for you:)"
-Jiyoung♥︎

Conversation
All Time Low song facts
Backseat Serenade: Alex Gaskarth told Billboard magazine that this song about falling for someone but not being able to be with them is, "a really cool culmination of old All Time Low and future All Time Low."
Coffeeshop Soundtrack: All Time Low lead singer Alex Gaskarth has said that this song is about an affair he had with an older married woman. The song got its title because they would meet in coffee shops
Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't): This was All Time Low's first song to chart in the Billboard Hot 100.
I Feel Like Dancin': Gaskarth said about this song: "These are the silliest lyrics I've ever written. It's an intentional, and sarcastic jab at the current state of radio…(Did write it with Rivers, after all) The irony will then be if works, so here's to hoping it does. I assure you that the lyrical content on the rest of the record does not follow suit. Have fun with it… Clearly it's not a song intended to make you think."
Lost In Stereo: Frontman Alex Gaskarth explained in interviews that the song is about spotting a beautiful girl at a show, and wanting to meet her. However, she doesn't pay any attention to him as she's so involved in the music and is just there to have fun and dance.
Lullabies: This song deals with suicide and a family coping with it. All Time Low lead singer Alexander Gaskarth dealt with the suicide of his older brother. The song is all about what happened, the effect it had on the family, the way his harsh words effected them, and the final plea to be together again: "Sing me to sleep, I'll see you in my dreams, waiting to say, I miss you, I'm so sorry." (alex stated in a interview that he died because of some natural reason..and he was shocked that people just make up facts)
Painting Flowers: This was recorded for the soundtrack to the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movie, Alice in Wonderland. Frontman Alex Gaskarth told MTV News that though the song was written specifically for the film, it isn't necessarily a straightforward narrative about the Lewis Carroll story. "The song definitely references ideas from the film and from the story, but I wouldn't say that it's obvious," said Gaskarth. "But it's in there, for sure."
Remembering Sunday: In an online interview, Alex Gaskarth said that this song and "Vegas" are about the same person and the same experience. In "Vegas," he sings about how he would have married her if he could, and in "Remembering Sunday," he's lost her. The lyrics, "I'm at home in the clouds" is about being on a plane.
So Long Soldier: This autobiographical song tells of All Time Low's rise to stardom, starting from when frontman Alex Gaskarth moved from England to America in 1995 at the age of seven. The second verse tells of the early days of the band when they started pursuing their dreams.
So Long, And Thanks For All The Booze: All Time Low close their fifth studio album, Don 't Panic, with this sarcastically-titled track, which frontman Alex Gaskarth told Billboard magazine, "is obviously a send-off and a farewell and a big 'f--k you' to some of the people from our past that tried to steer us in the wrong direction."...The song's title comes from a line from Douglas Adams' series of comic sci-fi books and comedy TV series, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - "So Long, and thanks for all the fish."
Somewhere in Neverland: Frontman Alex Gaskarth told Billboard magazine that this Don 't Panic track in which he wishes he could be young again is, "one of those undeniable All Time Low songs." He added: To me, it's like a 'Dear Maria' (2008) or a 'Weightless' (2009) or one of the songs that I think will really resonate with people for a long time."
The Reckless And The Brave: This song was originally released by the band a few weeks after they left Interscope Records. They made it available as a free download from their website before they went out on Warped Tour for the summer. A month later it was announced that All Time Low had returned to Hopeless Records, the label with whom they released their debut EP Put Up or Shut Up in the summer of 2006 just weeks after their graduation from high school. The lyrics about trying to find your place in the world and staying true to themselves appear to relate to the band coming home to the independent label.
Therapy: This waking-from-a-nightmare album closer was one of several tracks on Nothing Personal that signaled a new found maturity and depth for pop punk band All Time Low: Frontman Alex Garskarth told MTV News: "It's nice to get away from the pop-punk niche we came up in... it's nice to try to broaden your horizons. To be honest, we wrote a lot of this album with that in mind It weighs on you when you see all these new bands start popping up and getting signed, because that's the nature of this terrible industry we're in. So, we definitely noticed that, and we definitely thought, 'What can we do this time around that isn't going to piss off our fans too much, but is going to set us apart from all these little kids that have deals and songs on MTV now?'"
Time Bomb: Pierre Bouvier and Chuck Comeau of Simple Plan originally penned this tune. However during the writing process they deemed it more of an "All Time Low song" and allowed the band to have the song. In return, Alex Gaskarth guested on the Simple Plan track "Freaking Me Out" from their Get Your Heart On! album.....The song's music video was directed by K. Asher Levin and features the band performing on a Los Angeles rooftop while a SWAT team tries to stop a guy from saving his girlfriend by means of an artificial heart. The girl is played by Malese Jow, whom you might recognise from her roles of young fashion designer Geena Fabiano in the Nickelodeon television series Unfabolous and teenage vampire Anna in Vampire Diaries.
Under A Paper Moon: Amongst the left-field influences for the American Pop-Punk band All Time Low's fourth studio album, Dirty Work, is Jazz legend Ella Fitzgerald. Lyrically, a tribute to the First Lady of Song, "Under a Paper Moon" finds frontman Alex Gaskarth attempting to expand on the ideas presented in her version of the standard "It's Only A Paper Moon." "I think what a lot of people don't realize is that - especially for some of our older fans who knew us as the guys who grew up on Blink and Green Day - is that I have very eclectic tastes in music," Gaskarth told Billboard magazine. "Especially on this record, those influences really came into play."
Weightless: This track is about not wanting to grow up. Frontman Alex Gaskarth explained to MTVU that "the whole mentality of the song is like, you feel like you're stuck in this like, negative space and you just want to get out. Summer's rolling up and uh, everybody's finishing up with school and everybody's getting like the exam beatdown."

(alex stated in a interview that he died because of some natural reason..and he was shocked that people just make up facts)

Somewhere in Neverland: Frontman Alex Gaskarth told Billboard magazine that this Don 't Panic track in which he wishes he could be young again is, "one of those undeniable All Time Low songs." Somewhere in Neverland: Frontman Alex Gaskarth told Billboard magazine that this Don 't Panic track in which he wishes he could be young again is, "one of those undeniable All Time Low songs." He added: To me, it's like a 'Dear Maria' (2008) or a 'Weightless' (2009) or one of the songs that I think will really resonate with people for a long time."
