Reviewing in a new fandom is always so fraught. You've gotta be so careful that the thing you want to squeal "absolutely genius! I'd never have thought of that!!" about isn't a widespread fandom trope, or, even worse, commonly-accepted fanon. It really cuts down on the kinds of specific compliments you can give without risking sounding sarcastic.

#sometimes it turns out someone had a brilliant idea three years ago and now you're unknowingly reading the thousandth iteration of it #or the background character you thought was a deep cut is actually all over the place in fanfics because they're one of only four women #oops #fanfiction #ao3 etiquette #the internal voice screaming 'lurk moar' is strong and must be ignored #just have to be so so careful to compliment aspects that have nothing to do with insightfulness or originality #at least 'i can hear this perfectly in their voices!' and 'i'm laughing so hard i'm crying' never go stale
