hughh I wanna talk about the queer theming and iconography in Disney villains/twst characters but I don’t want to look like a freaking nerd
Edit: I put my take in the og tags
#what if#i just do it in the tags#buckle in guys#i just want to say that#even if a Disney villain isn’t blatantly based off of a queer person#taking in the context of when and where these stories were made brings an obvious connection#the typical heroine was the ingenue#the innocent damsel girl unblemished by the “evils” that plagued society (back then)#and the villains? Well they’re flamboyant and eccentric#they wear heavy makeup and flashy clothing. they’re strange and out of the norm (queer)#and they always either want to corrupt the ingenue or get rid of them all together. out of jealousy of course#the fact that these villains have found their place in queer culture tells you that queer people have seen themself IN these characters#even if the representation isn’t “positive”#and I feel like if you’re going to claim that most Disney villains have nothing to do with queer culture#you’re just plain wrong#and that just ties right back around to twst characters#sorry if I went a little crazy chat#twisted wonderland#disney twst#twst wonderland#disney twisted wonderland#twst#bunnierambles#Disney villains
