i hate some bughead shippers so much. the toxic ones i mean. the ones who make videos of the first jabitha kiss then clips of them looking up tabitha tate then going to maps. this made me so fucking sick. dont joke about killing her because she kissed jughead and jughead likes someone other then betty. if you ship them thats fine. thats totally fine. pls just dont make jokes about wanting a character dead because she kissed and “ruined” your ship

Hot Topics in The Shadow World: Ratings.

 I don’t know. Rainy days and a late night shift makes you tired and yet I still wanna rant about the whatevers…hahaha. 

Topic 1: The ratings. 

There has been words going around with Shadowhunters poor ratings in the past 2 episodes. First, don’t worry…it’s only has been 2 episodes. Not enough to define anything. Shadowhunters is on Tuesday, also a hot night for many other popular shows…okay, that doesn’t help it. But listen, television isn’t the same anymore. In the United States, a common measurement tool is the Nielsen ratings…which was rooted since 1920s. So, that’s outdated. Because we live in the time of streaming…Netflix, Hulu, DVRs (does people still do this?), and the other 10,000s networks with their own websites and apps. People often watch their show, on their own time now. I do, I worked long hours and my work schedule is never consistent…So, I will miss a few episodes and will catch up on Hulu or Freeform app. Thats just life these days. So no worries. The numbers isn’t reflective. There is also the International fans and trust Netflix does know how many times you watch a show or a movie. They know!!!! They’re always watching you…hahaha. I am kidding. No, I am not. 

However, there are factors about Shadowhunters that may or may not contributed to the lower ratings. The hiatus was long. It was long. Let’s be honest.  And sadly, when topics like the polls and the competitions was being pass along on social media…Shadowhunters was still in the season 2 contents while other shows had newer materials and were more fresh in the viewers’ minds. But, I am just observing here. For example, Malec in the polls and all recent couple competitions this year was…not as heated as the past ones. Maybe because people were done with ships wars…who knows? Or people haven’t seen or heard of Malec for a long time. It’s psychological. However, all the excitement was lukewarm while waiting for the hiatus to end. 

Another factor is the controversy. Season 2 was an improvement from season one, but yet it still had it’s moments of downfall. However, perspectives are divided. Though, reality is that it was a hot mess…no matter where or what side you stand on. First, the 2x07 infamous episode. That was something. Personally, spreading hate is never good. It’s terrible. I don’t support that. However, not speaking your mind when something was poorly written and poorly directed…and very misleading than that is also something to think about. Freedom of speech. Nevertheless, I said my part on the topic. I hatred it and I was not cool with the way Malec was treated vs. the other characters and couples. It was misleading to me. However, I stayed with the show (I am very supportive of the show) and stayed optimistic that the show will improve itself. The world is changing and all we can hope is that the changes are good for us. 

The other controversy is of course…the Take Over. I am not going to say much here…but it did change the way the cast interacts with the fans…There hasn’t been a take over since then. So? Unless I miss one??? Was there any take over after that incident? Just saying. Some people did find themselves…done with the show after it. And that’s their right to do as they want. Respect. Not all the fans stayed…however, there also new fans joining the fandom too. So…you just can’t see the true statistics. 

However, it is so important to not worry. The show just started. Rating will go up and down. The network does need to promote the show more. Shadowhunters doesn’t get a lot of support…in the marketing department. Have you ever seen an Entertainment Weekly Cover special for Shadowhunters? Or see Harry, Kat, Matt, or Em on Late Night Shows? I remember walking into Hot Topic and seeing Riverdale’s merchandises. And that show is on their 2nd season. So, promotion and marketing for Shadowhunters is one of the weakness, I have ever seen for a popular show. I was kinda shock. However, the showrunners are hinting future merchandises for the show. Let’s hope. 

The strongest marketing and promotion is the fans!!!! Social media is Shadowhunters…strongest promoters. Have you guys seen the fan arts, the gifs, the videos, the color books, the hand made funkos…their amazing. The fans are the ones that trends Shadowhunters. Ep 2 had low rating but yet trended to number 1 on tumblr. That is because of the fans. 

I always tell people…that its the fans that made Shadowhunters. Yes, the crew, cast, and team is a major factor but without the fans…it is nothing. Shadowhunters is a social media driven show. The showrunners, the writers, the directors, the cast, even the make artists…and etc…interacts with the fandom…very profoundly and constant on social media. Of course, it isn’t always going to to be nice. That’s life. 

They want to hear from us. We want to hear from them. That’s feedback. 

I feel…I am talking all over the place…it’s the lack of sleep. I am not expecting anyone to read this. Just wanted to rant…hahaha. 

I just wanted say something about something. And tell people…Not to worry. Season 3 has just started…there’s a lot coming. Give it time to see it as a whole picture. Don’t stress out. Shadowhunters is Freeform’s number one show…it’s an old network (It uses to be Fox Family, then ABC family…now Freeform)…but yet it’s still young network compared to the others networks. 

Shadowhunters will be fine. It’s getting better…looking better…I see a lot of improvements but also see room for more improvements…and that’s fine too. I am excited for this season…right now, we can only wait and see.
