{   hugh  jackman ;  heterosexual ;  cismale  }     — »      introducing   gaston  legume ,  the   55  year  old   also  known  as   gaston   from   beauty  &  the  beast .     rumour  is  that  he  has  been  in  auradon  for  a  week .     it’s  been  speculated  that  he  is  a   taxidermist   at   auradon  fine  taxidermy .     word  is  that  he  is   suave   but  he  can  also  be   vain .

SAY  IT  AGAIN !    WHO’S  A  MAN  AMONG  MEN !        ------        yes  yes  who  can  write  up  these  great  little  bits  at  the  beginning  of  their  intros  like  link ?    my  little  blips  are  lovely   &   now  part  of  my  aesthetic  so  i  can’t  make  an  intro  without  them  anymore .    can’t  just  get  straight  to  things .    anyway ,  though ,  as  a  kid  gaston  was  always  my  favorite  disney  villain !     he’s  interesting  to  me  in  that  he’s  just   . . .   a  really  bad  guy .    like  no  powers  or  anything   . . .    &   it’s  not  like  he’s  looking  for  world  domination  or  to  overthrow  a  kingdom .    he’s  just  an  angry ,  self  absorbed  man  who  can’t  take  no  for  an  answer  yet  he’s  still  terrifying  because  he’s  so  manipulative .   anyway !   i’ll  get  to  this  before  i  go  blabby .   this  may   . . .   be  long .   i’ll  be  taking  influences  from  the  original  animation ,  the  live  action ,   &   the  disney  novelization .

so  here’s  a  dip  into  gaston   &   the  hcs  i  have  on  his  past   &   why  he  is  the  way  that  he  is !

while  he  does  have  ancestors  from  france ,  hence  the  french  name  ‘legume’ ,  i  hc  his  father  was  from  england .   his  father  moved  to  france  to  help  relatives  there   &   met  gaston’s  mother .

his  mother  left  them  when  gaston  was  young .

his  father  is  who  taught  him  such  toxic  masculinity  growing  up   &   it  only  worsened  after  gaston’s  mother  left  them .

his  father  hired  tutors  for  gaston ,  but  they  were  english  tutors .   gaston’s  education  suffered  greatly  from  this  fact  since ,  even  though  he  was  taught  to  read   &   write ,  he  was  only  taught  in  english .   he  never  took  to  naturally  learning  french  from  the  world  around  him  so  he  can’t  read  the  books  outside  of  his  father’s  collection  due  to  the  fact  they’re  all  in  french .

even  so ,  though ,  he  doesn’t  read  much  anyway .   he’s  ok  with  a  few  books   (  he  liked  hamlet  &  macbeth  a  bit  hence  him  quoting  macbeth  in  the  mob  song  from  the  live  action  but  also i  think  that  that  quote  just  really  stuck  to  him  he  probably  doesn’t  even  remember  what  its  from )   but  he  doesn’t  really  like  reading  much .   thinks  it’s  boring .

fast  forward  some  odd  years

in  the  live  action  batb ,  it  is  implied  that  gaston  fought  in  some  war .   i’m  going  to  include  this  because  there’s  a  very  interesting  fact  you  can  pull  from  the  fact  he  was  in  the  war .

gaston  wasn’t  in  the  french  army !  

gaston’s  uniform ,  clearly ,  is  bright  red !    the  french  wore  navy  blue  uniforms .   you  know  who  was  red ?    the  british !    gaston  fought  in  the  biritsh  army !    he  was  a  captain ,  even .

so  why’s  it  he’s  popular  among  all  these  french  people ?

in  the  ‘gaston’  musical  scene  in  the  live  action ,  we  can  see  murals  of  gaston  painted  on  around  his  tavern .   one  of  which  is  a  picture  of  a  victorious  gaston  in  the  war ,  holding  his  sword ,  atop  a  mound  of  defeated  soldiers .   dead ,  defeated  soldiers   . . .   dressed  in  red .

gaston  was  a  deserter  from  the  british  army !

he  got  to  the  rank  of  captain  then  changed  sides   &   stabbed  the  british  in  the  back .

a  hero ,  for  france .   he’s  a  filthy  traitor  to  the  british .

he  has  ptsd  from  the  war ,  yes ,  in  the  fact  that  he’s  never  been  able  to  settle  back  into  a  normal ,  peaceful  life .    in  the  war  he  commanded   &   was  surrounded  by  action !    he  had  a  lot  of  purpose .   coming  back ,  he  couldn’t  stand  the  mundane  life .   

he  drowned  how  jaded   &   hollow  that  made  him  by  feeding  off  the  praise  from  the  villagers  which  made  him  feel  wanted   &   important  again .   he  just  buried  everything  under  his  ego .

his  mind  craves  action ,  though ,   &   extremely  militaristic .   his  anger ,  especially ,  shows  this .   if  there  is  something  in  the  way ,  destroy  it .   wars  are  not  won  with  soft  hearts .

he  really  sets  into  a  militaristic  mind  set  by  the  mob  song .   the  beast  was  a  threat  to  him   (  for  belle’s  hand  mostly  but  to  the  village  too  i  suppose  but  i  really  don’t  think  he  gave  a  shit  about  the  villagers  he  just  liked  them  for  the  praise  they  gave  him  )    so he  rallied  the  town   (  the  closest  thing  he  had  to  soldiers  )    to  destroy  him .    an  excuse  for  him  to  feel  the  war  again ,  too .

---------   NOW .

gaston  on  the  isle .   first  of  all ,  gaston  never  thought  he  was  in  the  wrong .   he ,  the  entire  time ,  though  himself  a  hero .   he  figured ,  once  he  killed  the  beast ,  belle  would  come  to  realize  that ,  too ,   &   realize  how  foolish  she  was .

needless  to  say ,  he’s  pissed  that  he  was  sentenced  to  that  place .

doesn’t  matter  if  the  beast  was  good  in  the  end ,  he  was  trying  to  save  his  village   &   the  girl  he  loved  from  what  looked  like  a  threat  to  the  people  at  the  time   (  sure  he  wasnt  doing  it  for  the  people   &   more  to  seem  like  a  dashing  hero  to  belle  so  he  could  finally  marry  her  but  hush  )    &   he  doesn’t  think  he  should  be  locked  up  for  that .

still  thinks  belle  is  delusional .

still  hates  the  beast .

i  don’t  know  why  he  was  brought  from  the  isle  like  bringing  him  here  is  one  of  the  worst  ideas  but  hm  ok .

he’s  sensitive .   don’t  bring  up  what  happened  with  him   &   belle / beast .   do  not  bring  up  his  failure .   its  the  biggest  stab  to  his  ego  to  remind  him  of  that .    he’s  beyond  pissed  about  it . 

thinks  himself  better   &   above  all  the  other  villains .   but ,  like ,  what  do  you  expect ?    he’s  so  full  of  himself .

proud  of  his  sons  in  the  fact  that  they’re  all  handsome ,  strapping  young  lads .

thinks  his  daughter  needs  to  shut  her  mouth  more   &   do  as  she’s told  because  he  is  a  sexist  piece  of  shit .

didn’t  like .  focus  on  his  kids’  education  much  because  he  didn’t  think  it  really  mattered .   

he’s  short  tempered  but  he  does  try  to  keep  a  slim  bit  of  extra  patience  towards  his  kids  since  they’re  his  flesh   &   blood .

does  taxidermy  because  he  got  more  into  it  a  bit  on  the  isle .   does  well  for  his  aesthetic   &   he’ll  sometimes  go  out   &   hunt  for  the  animals  he  uses  on  his  own .   so  it  lets  him  hunt  which  helps  calm  him .   nothing  like  shooting  innocent  animals  to  chill  u  out .

spends  much  of  his  free  time  in  bars .

hates  belle ??   like  absolutely  loathes  her .   but  still  wants  to  marry  her  but  at  this  point  i’m  sure  it’s  out  of  pure  fucking  spite .
