#romeo and juliet#royal shakespeare company#the language is somehow made so clear that it’s like they’re speaking modern English#but without changing the script just through inflection#the humour/emotion ratio is great it’s HILARIOUS but the tragic parts hit like a freight train#female mercutio is INSPIRED#Romeo is really endearing and I say this as someone who usually doesn’t like Romeo#the stripped back set makes it somehow easier to understand#and last but not least#Benvolio and mercutio as an mlm/wlw buddy cop duo is something I didn’t know I needed
