IT'S TIME TO DISCUSS TFE S2A!!!

SPOILERS...OBVIOUSLY...

First of all, despite what some TFE fans have said, I gotta say, S2A has heavily exceeded my expectations! I was nervous because it did not get marketed enough (wtf Paramount+??!!) and because of the early rumours regarding certain things happening. But I thoroughly enjoyed most of the episodes (even the trailer filler episode). It really felt like I was watching S1A all over again. I found S2A refreshing and wholesome.

Here is a scattered list of some of the many moments/things that stood out to me...

AHHH! MO'S BRAIDS! Gah! I love them so much! I absolutely love her new hairstyle in season 2. Okay spacebuns! 🥰 Our little sweetie has grown up a bit and her new hairstyle looks so nice! I really like the attention to detail on her braids, her edges and baby hairs. You can tell that the character designers actually did their research on black hairstyles, and I really appreciate that because so many shows get it so wrong and they are just downright disrespectful.

SHOCKWAVE'S HESITATION!!!! HE HAD A CLEAR SHOT AND HE WAS GOING TO ATTACK, but then he just...didn't.

I was wondering how the weird tension between Shockwave, the Terrans and Malto Kids would be resolved. In S1C we see Shockwave working with the Terrans and Malto Kids to help take down Croft and her army. But you can tell that this was mainly because they shared a common enemy and because the season was ending.

But now even with Shockwave working under Starscream's command, he still hesitated and just let Twitch and Robby pass. He had the element of surprise, he watched them steal the shards and he could have easily ambushed them. He just...didn't. I am hoping that this gets explored further in the season and we get more of Shockwave.

BREAKDOWN CALLING AFTERMATH 'SON'!!! 🥺🥺🥺 And calling him kid!!! 🥺🥺🥺 I don't know, this is just so adorable to me. Regardless of the faction, clearly all the Cybertronians view the Terrans as children. Even though I found Aftermath to be very irritating, I thought it was really sweet how fast Breakdown tried to protect him and how he had grown to care for him. That fake father/son montage and the 'son' bomb took me out. I was laughing so hard. 🤣

✨️ALEX MALTO'S MAGICAL BOY TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE!!!✨️

I kid you not, I had to pause the episode because I was laughing so hard! I could not breathe! 🤣 It was so sudden! It was so smooth! Alex was READY! You know he's been waiting for the day that he can finally reveal his Magical Boy uniform! I love it! Everyone's reaction was perfect! Megatron was so done with Alex. 🤣

And Nightshade giving their father a boost after Alex struggled to climb up the wall during the race is just so wholesome! 🥺 I'm so glad we got to see more of Alex interacting with his children in this batch of episodes. He gave so much enthusiastic, concerned, loving dad energy in this batch of episodes, it was beautiful.

TWITCH VS SPITFIRE!!!

That was so intense! It was really cool seeing them fight and use their different abilities against each other. Seeing Twitch get competitive with her basically evil twin sister was fun to watch. Twitch's competive nature really came out because THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!!! Loll despite how hard Twitch had to fight, she definitely proved to Spitfire and to herself that she is the 'better drone'. I found it interesting that instead of Robby being the one to point out that Twitch is really Spitfire, it was actually Wheeljack. It was nice that he used his Dad 2 nickname to confirm his suspicions. He's clearly taken a liking to it. ☺️But I'm glad that Robby had his moment to determine which Twitch is the real Twitch.

Swindle interacting with a human and not trying to squish the human??? Yeah, I was shocked when I watched 'The Butterfly Effect' and saw Swindle interacting with Fairmaestro. But then seeing Swindle basically try to swindle Fairmaestro was the perfect 'Aha!' moment.

I really like TFE's version of Cosmos, and I wish he had more than one appearance in this batch of episodes! He just disappeared after his debut episode, but I wanted more of him! His design is very nice too. He is a perfect round boi. But how the heck did he get captured by Fairmaestro? How long was he under his control? If he joined the Autobots after the Maltos rescued him, why wasn't he in any other episodes with the other Autobots? 🤔 But also, I love the way he handled Fairmaestro and dumped his ass in the dunk tank. Since Fairmaestro easily escaped Jon's custody, I wonder if we'll see more of him.

Starscream as the main antagonist. Hmmm. I gotta say, while it's refreshing that we finally got a new main villain, it's also disappointing that it ended up being Starscream. Starscream caused so much chaos in S2A and sure, it's Starscream. What do you expect? He's always been untrustworthy, violent and unpredictable. But really? Did he seriously have to go back to being the villain after he had a bonding moment with Hashtag? After he worked with the Malto family because he realized that there are much larger threats out there. I'm assuming that he had to fuck up shit in the beginning of season 2 to make way for a serious redemption arc later on. I assume an even bigger threat will enter the scene soon. I sure hope so, because Screamy hit an all time low when he brutally took out the Chaos Terrans. That was just...wow. 😨

Dot Malto being the 'villain' and spraying her kids with the hose during the competition was hilarious. We love a good badass mom moment. 🤭

Contrary to what some people have said, I actually don't mind the Malto Kids at all, or their new power upgrades. They've dealt with so much shit in S1, so it only makes sense that they will eventually get some upgrades and powers to help protect themselves. They act like how kids their age would act irl, so of course they're going to have their annoying, problematic moments where they get themselves into a lot of trouble. The only difference is, they have a lot more sense and they acknowledge when it's time to stop and get serious. Even though it's really obvious that TFE is marketed towards kids, I like that it puts emphasis on family, teamwork, and it has its fair share of cheesy moments. It's very reminiscent of TFA.

I really enjoyed Hashtag and Mo's bonding episode. Even though Robby and Mo have a strong connection to Twitch and Thrash because they are the first Terrans that were born, it's nice to see the Malto Kids interact with their other Terran siblings as well. We almost always see Mo with Thrash or Robby with Twitch, so to see different dynamics among the Terrans and their human siblings is refreshing. And yessss! Hashtag calling Mo her little big sister and Mo calling Hashtag her big little sister is just too great!

Hashtag's new alt mode is so shiny! I love it! It's a nice upgrade, and I like her new root mode design too. I thought it was interesting that she got a new virtual assistant with her systems upgrade.

Cyber-syncing!!! I feel like it was only a matter of time before it was introduced. Something tells me that we're going to have more moments when cyber-syncing will be needed to take down a foe. It was an interesting addition to the Terrans and Malto Kids' existing abilities. I wonder if we'll see more cyber-syncing combos, like maybe a Hashtag/Nightshade/Robby/Mo combo. Or a Jawbreaker/Twitch/Robby/Mo combo. Or just more cyber-syncing in general. I did find Jawbreaker's sync with Aftermath to be very forced and unnecessary. I get that he felt left out in that episode, but it just feels like it was so unnecessary to the plot and it just felt like bad comedy relief.

Overall, I actually really enjoyed S2A. There were only a few episodes and moments that I found meh, but for the most part it was a good watch and it's about to be on repeat while I patiently wait for Transformers One and S2B to come out.

“Dammit.”

Clarke paused at the frustrated murmur that issued from the doorway just ahead of her. Curious, she approached and poked her head into the room.

“Bellamy?”

Bellamy sat in a chair with his back to the door, hunched over something at the table in front of him. He turned quickly at the unexpected voice, and if Clarke were someone else, she would have laughed. The lower half of his face was covered in a foamy, white substance and the hair on the left side of his head was shorter than the hair on the right. The thing on the table he had been leaning over was a tiny oval mirror. A bowl of water and 2 small towels sat off to the side.

Clarke crossed her arms and leaned against the doorway as a bemused smile crept across her face.

“What are you doing?” It was obvious what he was doing, but she couldn’t help asking.

When he saw who had interrupted him, he relaxed and turned back around to scowl into the mirror.

“Just trying to clean up a little bit. I was starting to look like one of the Eligius miners.”

“You look like an old man,” Clarke teased, coming over and looking pointedly at the foam covering his beard.

“Yeah, well,” he huffed out a laugh. “I am over 130 years old.”

They shared a smile at the joke and the bizarre life that fate had handed them. Clarke wondered if they could ever feel normal again and realized maybe that was the real reason behind Bellamy’s sudden need for change. He was looking for a fresh start. And she could help give that to him.

“I hate to tell you this, but if your goal is to look less like a convict who spent years in deep space drilling into asteroids, you’re failing miserably. Give it here,” she gestured to the knife in his hand.

“It’s not that bad,” he grumbled. But he offered her the hilt, settled back into the chair, and closed his eyes.

She smiled to herself and got to work, quickly evening out the sides and back so they fell just above his ears. Then she shortened the hair in front so it covered his forehead, but no longer flopped into his eyes. As she trimmed, his hair began to curl more tightly, just as she remembered it before Praimfaya. After a few more minutes, she stepped back to run a critical eye over her work. It was a little choppy, but a pretty good job overall.

Bellamy opened his eyes and squinted into the mirror.

“Thanks,” he sighed, running his hand through his now more prominent curls. “That feels better. Who knew the great Clarke Griffin was an accomplished hair stylist?”

Clarke nudged him with her elbow. “Well, I did spend six years taking care of mine and Madi’s hair. Though, braids were more my specialty. We’ll have to save that for next time.”

Bellamy smirked before turning back to the mirror. He tilted his head to inspect his foam-covered chin and sighed once more. “I don’t suppose you can help with this. I have this thing,” he held up a tool that Clarke recognized as a straight razor, “but I’ve never used one. I imagine it’s probably similar to using a knife, but…”

“Actually, I have used one of these before,” she held out her hand for the razor.

“Oh? Did you have a beard during those six years that I don’t know about?” he joked, handing it over.

She gave him a small smile before gazing down at the tool in her hands, a long-ago memory surfacing that caused an ache to bloom in her chest.

“Clarke?”

Bellamy had sobered and was watching her with concern.

“My dad used to have one of these, on the Ark. It belonged to his grandfather, I think. My mom,” she paused to gather herself and will away the burning that started behind her eyes. That loss was still very fresh. Bellamy reached out to place a comforting hand on her forearm. She took a shuddering breath and started again.

“We didn’t have a mirror, so my mom would help him shave. But then she got busy with being the head doctor and being on the council, so I learned how to do it. My dad was my hero, so I was always looking for some way to help him.”

She shook off the melancholy and squared her shoulders.

“Clarke, you don’t have to-“ Bellamy began, but she waved him off.

“I want to. Besides,” she attempted to bring some levity back into the conversation, “you never ask for help. Who knows when this will happen again? Now lean back.”

He looked like he was going to protest once more, but thought better of it and did as requested.

“Now try to keep still and don’t talk. I don’t want to cut you,” Clarke instructed.

He searched her face for a moment and then tilted his head back.

“I trust you.”

A thrill ran through Clarke at his words, and she knew they went much deeper than just this moment. She swallowed against the lump in her throat and pushed the emotions to the back of her mind. She would have time later to dwell on her feelings and what they meant. She pulled the towel and bowl of water towards her and got started on her task. For a long time, the only noise was the scraping of the blade against Bellamy’s skin and the faint sounds of conversation and laughter drifting up from the courtyard outside. She could feel his eyes on her as she carefully worked her way down his cheek to the line of his jaw. Somehow Clarke felt that this was new territory for them, a level of intimacy they had never experienced with each other. She reached the underside of his jaw and started very delicately on his neck. When she was done, she repeated the process on the other side, revealing more and more of the freckled skin underneath. Every now and then, she would adjust his position with a gentle hand on his cheek or chin. All the while, Bellamy watched her, the silence growing heavier between them. She worked methodically and with precision, and soon the only part left unshaved was a center stripe down his neck.

“Don’t move,” Clarke whispered, afraid that speaking too loudly would break whatever spell had settled over the room. She saw Bellamy’s hand clench where it rested on his thigh.

Holding the skin taut so she didn’t nick him, she dragged the razor over his Adam’s apple with painstaking care. Finally, she scraped off the last bit of foam and ran her finger softly along the ridge. Bellamy swallowed, and she was momentarily absorbed in the way it bobbed under her fingertips. Then he shifted under her touch and Clarke refocused, realizing he was probably growing uncomfortable with his head tilted back at such an angle.

“Done,” she murmured, turning to place the razor on the table. She picked up the clean towel and dipped it into the bowl of water. After wringing out the excess, she handed it to Bellamy who began to wipe his face clean. When he lowered the towel, Clarke felt as though she had gone back in time. There was the Bellamy who was her co-leader at the dropship. The one who went into the mountain and came to her rescue in Polis. The one she had drawn over and over in her sketchbook and the one she had talked to everyday on the radio to keep herself sane. Without thinking, her hands came up to rest on either side of his face, thumbs stroking the now smooth skin of his cheeks. He closed his eyes and leaned into her touch, and she could feel his pulse racing against her fingers. The silence became too much.

“Clarke, I-“

“Clarke? Clarke, where are you?”

Running footsteps echoed from the hall and they pulled away from one another.

Madi came skidding into view.

“Oh, there you are! I was just- woah,” she interrupted herself, taking in Bellamy’s appearance and the odd, weighty atmosphere in the room.

“Hey, Madi,” Bellamy smiled, trying to lighten the mood. “Clarke gave me a haircut. What do you think?”

Apparently deciding everything was ok, the young girl looked him over once more. Her eyes sparkled mischievously as a grin took over her face.

“I think you look a lot less like you get to tell me what to do. You barely look like an adult!”

“Hey now!” Bellamy protested, pretending to be indignant. “Show some respect for you elders!”

“Too late!” she shot back. “Your beard is what made you seem old and wise. Without it, you’re just not as intimidating. Sorry!” She turned her attention back to Clarke. “I was just coming to find you because they’re about to serve dinner. Are you coming?”

“Yeah, we just finished up with this,” Clarke replied, looking at her daughter fondly.

“Ok, I’m gonna go save us some seats. See you there! Bye Bellamy!” she grinned cheekily. And then she was gone as quickly as she’d come.

A loaded silence filled the space between them. After a moment, Bellamy was the one to break it.

“Thank you for this,” he gestured at the towels and razor on the table. “I just… needed a change, I guess. I’m going to get this cleaned up, you go and meet up with Madi.”

Clarke had spent her whole life making decisions with her head. It’s how she and her people had survived everything the ground had thrown at them. But now- now that they were finally and completely at peace- she thought that maybe she could start making some decisions with her heart.

“Hey,” she reached out and grabbed Bellamy’s hand, letting his warmth become her own.

He looked back at her, an unspoken question in his eyes. The hope she saw there was echoed within her own heart and for the first time in a very long time, she wasn’t fearful of the future.

“Come on,” she tugged him towards the door. “We can clean this up later.”

He only hesitated for a moment before grasping her hand more tightly and allowing her to lead him from the room.

The suns were setting as they made their way to the dining hall. Tomorrow marked the beginning of a fresh start and a bright future for them, for their people, and for humanity. And they would welcome it hand in hand. Bellamy and Clarke. Together.

Obi-Wan Part III

Am I really only just now noticing that the i in Kenobi in the logo is his lightsaber... I’m dumb.

I’ll delete this if I’m wrong but... was that my girl Indira in the thumbnail...

I’m still reeling from the realization that Obi-Wan didn’t know Ani survived. The recap replayed that moment and I Think I was suffering too much myself to notice that Obi-Wan had one tear about to fall. I’m hurting all over again. Did they get James Earl Jones back for this too?!  Obi-Wan, I swear, if you’re about to figure out that Leia is Force sensitive, and then still choose to not tell Luke about 1) his twin sister and 2) that it means he’s not the last Jedi, I’m gonna be so mad. You won’t be as bad as R2 who hung out with the trio for years and didn’t bother to tell them anything about the prequels, but still. One of Leia’s braids came loose in an almost padawan-like way. I see you hair team. I JUST GASPED. Young Ani!?!?!?! Poor Obi-Wan hallucinating. Also I had been wondering if Hayden would be doomed to be perpetually in the Vader suit all season. Freck sounds familiar. Stormtroopers have bad aim, and can’t see their target in front of them. Hilarious. Obi-Wan. Honey.... Ugh. Ok he played that off decently well. Ugh. “Are you my real father.” This girl is perceptive. But no. So close by girl, but just a little bit off. “I wish I could say I was, but no I’m not.” Awwww. Hey, Obi-Wan, this Freck guy is super nice and all, but he’s obsessed with the Empire, so maybe DON’T talk about being a Jedi while in the back of his transporter. But then again, the “A Jedi? I hope we’re not in danger!” line felt weird, so maybe Freck overcompensates to hide his true allegiance. Either way, don’t. DID WE KNOW THAT OBI-WAN HAD A SIBLING? Do a Jedi mind trick come on. That wasn’t the Wilhelm scream. I want the Wilhelm scream. Also oof being chopped in half. It is! Indira! Tala I hope you know you own my heart. OH NO. IS VADER ON THE PLANET. He is! Ok. I love how in Star Wars it’s one of the few fandoms where we see the main villain, and we’re happy to see him. Obi-Wan, this is the time to run. Please. Ok we’ve officially seen Vader kill a kid now. Great. “What have you become?” “I am what you made me.” Hey, dear old Ben, I hate to say it, but Ani’s got a point. Tala how about you tell Leia the name of the pilot, so not just random pilot grabs her. Ugh. On one hand, if Tala hadn’t come back to help, Obi-Wan would have died. On the other hand, if she stayed with Leia, maybe Reva wouldn’t have gotten her. Ahhh.

Anyway, that was fun to see Obi-Wan and Vader have another lightsaber battle. One with actual choreography since ANH’s is a little anti-climactic. Poor Leia though. And I had really hoped Freck would be good in the end but oh well.

Love seeing my girl Indira Varma on my screen though.

Hey friends! Happy Thursday! Hope you’re enjoying the week. 

It’s been a fun and crazy one over here. The girls have had half-day camps, Liv auditioned for dance team, the Pilot has been flying nights, and madre’s birthday was on Tuesday! We got together for a *small* family dinner (we joke that we’re just a small party of 28), and ate Mexican food, cake, and sang “Happy Birthday” to the amazing lady who gives so much to everyone in our family.

Workout-wise, I’ve crushed every day this week. Sunday, we filmed Summer Shape Up videos (the party starts June 24)! Monday, I hopped on the Peloton bike for a 30-minute ride, Tuesday was barre, Wednesday was a BODYATTACK class On Demand (my link is good for 21 days FREE of the amazing Les Mills workouts), and today and tomorrow are off since I’m traveling to Chicago for a blog trip. I’m looking forward to catching up with Anne and Julie, and meeting some new blogger friends. I’ll be sure to share some of the adventures on IG stories!

I originally planned to post this one while we were on our cruise, but since internet was a bit sketchy – and I blasted through the ship’s plan in a mere 24 hours – I didn’t get the chance to get this one published. I originally saw this survey on my friend Ashley’s blog, and then Julie’s. I loved reading their answers so much, so I thought I’d join in the survey fun. 

1.  What’s the best thing that happened to you this month? Taking a Disney Cruise with the fam! 

2. What’s your favorite game? We don’t usually play board games at home, but our favorite games is a hide and seek and tag hybrid. I hide, the girls try to find me, I jump out and go “AHHH!” and they scream, I chase them around until I tag them, and then they hide. 

3. When are you most inspired? Mid-morning, usually after I’ve had breakfast and survived the school drop-off. 

4. If you could teach one subject in school what would it be? Math

5. What’s your favorite beverage? LaCroix 

6. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? A friend from the gym sent a text message while the Pilot was deployed and basically gave me a pep talk. She said she was proud of me for doing so well with work stuff and solo parenting. It was very unexpected and really made my whole month. It was a great reminder to let other people know when I’m inspired by them or think they’re crushing it. 

7. What is your favorite birthday cake? Yellow cake with chocolate buttercream

(That was my bday cake last year!)

8. What is one thing you still have from your childhood? A photo album that my mom made for me when I was 4 and we’d taken a trip to California. I was with all of my aunties, my parents were still married, and my uncle was still alive. Our dog chewed around the edges of it when I was younger, and the small plastic photo album contains quite a few happy memories from being a kid.

9. What is your favorite movie? Love, Actually

10. What is something you can’t do? Play the flute even though I faked it for an entire year in 5th grade. I could do all of the finger work, but no sound would come out. So I just pursed my lips and acted like I knew what I was doing. 

11. Window or aisle seat? Aisle so I can get up a thousand times if I feel like it. 

12. What makes you laugh no matter what? P makes the most ridiculous faces that make me laugh every day. We get a kick out of zooming in on photos that she’s in, because you never know what you’re going to get.

13. What does creativity mean to you? Free from any perceived restraints or judgments. 

14. What are your favorite lyrics of all time? “Look around, look around, how lucky we are to be alive right now.” I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of Hamilton.

19. What did you want to be when you grew up when you were 12? On Broadway

20. What is something you will not be doing in ten years? Wondering where the heck we’ll be living in a couple of years. It’s so crazy to be able to know and plan where we want to live. 

21. What is an important life lesson for someone to learn? Your gut instinct is always right.

22. How do you start your day? Scrolling through my phone with one eye closed.

23. Would you ever live anywhere besides Tucson? Yes! We’d love to make it back to San Diego one day but love being in Tucson for now.

24. What is your favorite dessert?  Anything super chocolaty.

25. Is there a dessert you don’t like? Creme brûlée is gross.

26. It’s brunch! What do you eat? Eggs, breakfast potatoes, turkey sausage, and a mimosa because brunch without cocktails is just a sad breakfast. <— words of wisdom from Prep & Pastry

29. What is a book you are planning on reading? “Educated” is downloaded on my Kindle but I haven’t started it yet

32. What is something you’re tired of? The Instagram algorithm. They want to turn it into a “pay to play” platform, which was the downfall of Facebook

33. What’s a city you wish to visit? Paris

35.  Where does one go on a perfect road trip? To Sedona. It’s just an easy drive from us and has an incredible energy.

36. What do you do on a rainy day? Try to find indoor activities to entertain the kiddos! We’ll do art, visit a museum, go rock climbing, or see a movie

37. What’s your favorite exercise? Spin, barre and BODYPUMP are tied

38. What was your worst subject in school? English which is a hilarious thing since I write a blog for a living

39. What is your spirit animal? An otter. I want to spend the day in the pool, floating on my back, eating salad

40. What do you usually eat for breakfast? A giant egg patty and either oatmeal with almond butter or a brown rice tortilla

41. What do you usually eat for dinner? We change it up every night but some classics are salmon, sweet potato and salad, Harney Cobbs, or sushi roll bowls

42. Cooking or Baking? Both!

43. Favorite baked good? Cookie dough on the bottom, Oreo’s in the middle, and brownies on top

44. What is something you wish you could be good at? Organizing photos on my laptop. It’s a hot mess

45. Skiing or Surfing? Paddle boarding 

46. First celebrity crush? JTT — Jonathan Taylor Thomas — I became a vegetarian for him when I was 8

47. Most recent celebrity crush? Aaron Tveit. I love his voice!

48. What color was your prom dress? Junior year it was bright pink and senior year it was light purple and silver

49. How do you manage stress? Try to do the most challenging/inconvenient item on my to-do list first

50. What do you do to relax? Read or cook

52. Place you were first kissed? Playing “spin the bottle” after musical theatre class
