Daman and Diu
The Union Territory of Daman and Diu
The Union Territory of Daman and Diu (often abbreviated as D&D) is the smallest union territory in India, consisting of two islands located at the mouth of the Gulf of Khambhat on the Arabian Sea coast and separated from Gujarat state by a 12 km causeway. The territory came into existence in 1961 after being separated from Maharashtra State on linguistic grounds. The main town and headquarters are at Daman, while Diu town is the capital and most populous city in the territory. Introduction Located in northernmost India, with an area of 44.6 km2 and a population of 1,54,294 (at 2001 census), Daman and Diu are one among three union territories in India. Prior to 1976, it was part of Portuguese India. The territory became a separate colony later that year on December 19th when it was incorporated into India upon its liberation from Portugal. Politically, it is administered by an administrator appointed by the Indian Government. The present administrator appointed by the Indian Government is Mr. Pankaj Srivastava who took over from Mr. Dhanendra Kumar Singh on August 8th, 2016 for a period of two years or until further orders whichever is earlier Geography of Daman and Diu It has an area of 400 km2. It is bounded by Valsad District to the north, Dadra and Nagar Haveli to the north-east, Maharashtra to the south, the Arabian Sea to the west, and South Goa to the east. The territory is divided into two regions: (1) Daman – area governed directly by the government (2) Diu – area governed through its own assembly. They are separated by a small creek which is dry except during the monsoon season. Demographics The demographics of Daman and Diu are representative of their location, being a city-state comprising two small separate islands. The larger (and more populous) island, located to the north, is called Dame-Parin or Greater Island, while to its south lies Diu-Makhun or Lesser Island. As per the census of 2011, there are 1563 inhabited villages on these two islands. The total population as per census 2011 stood at 1,77,705 persons in 603 villages. Economy The economy is primarily driven by its port, fishing, cement factories, shipbuilding industries, and tourism. Local industries include salt production, pottery making, hand-loom weaving of cotton, and agar fiber saris. However, agriculture is still an important occupation for a large number of people living in Daman. Fishing contributes 20% to its GDP with lobster as major export followed by prawns. The government has undertaken a project on Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) in three areas covering 44 villages with involvement from community-based organizations for conservation activities along with coastal areas. This project aims at increasing fish production in coastal regions by improving nursery habitats for marine fisheries. History of Daman and Diu The territory was a former Portuguese colony until its liberation in 1961, which happened during India's fight for independence. It is situated near Surat on Gujarat's coast, next to Vapi. The territory was ceded to India on December 19, 1961, as a result of an agreement between India and Portugal; it became part of Goa state when Goa achieved statehood in 1987. In November 2000, following demands from nationalists and local leaders to make it into a separate union territory, it was granted that status by the Indian government but at present, there is no separate legislature for it. Tourism
Being small states, Daman and Diu do not attract many tourist crowds. Some of its interesting places include Basilica de Bom Jesus, St. Thomas Fort, Port of Nagoa Beach, Pattaya Beach, and Fort In Hill among others. The events held here have great popularity among Goans living in India or abroad; mainly due to their religious significance. Also, some national festivals like Republic Day Parade (held at Gandhi maidan), Independence Day Celebrations (celebrated in Rani-ki Vav), Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations (festival honoring Lord Ganesha) are held here in such a grand manner that attracts thousands of tourists every year. Marble is a metamorphic rock that developed from limestone. Most of the material is calcite and dolomite. It is often used for sculpture, as a building material, and for many other purposes. The word ‘marble’ is also used for other stones that can be polished well and for ball-shaped objects used for child games. Marble has been used in construction for thousands of years. It was widely used by Greek and Roman sculptors and architects.
In the construction trade, the term “marble” is used for any massive, crystalline calcite rock useful as building stone. Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. Marble is typically not foliated, although there are exceptions. In geology, the term “marble” refers to metamorphosed limestone, but its use in stonemasonry more broadly encompasses un-metamorphosed limestone.

MARBLE THE EXTRAORDINARY BEAUTY OF NATURE
You’re facing the same conundrum that so many marble-loving homeowners have wrestled with: you love marble, but is it really worth the care and maintenance to keep it looking beautiful year after year?
Compared to other natural stones like granite and quartzite, marble is a relatively soft stone. It can etch if spills aren’t cleaned up right away, and it naturally develops a patina, or change in color due to oxidation, over time. This is one of the reasons manufacturers are developing engineered surfaces that resemble marble—some people simply don’t want to stress out every time a dinner guest puts their wine glass down without a coaster. But if you’re in love with the classic look of marble, there’s simply no alternative quite as beautiful as the real thing.
We’re here to put your mind at ease, and give you 5 solid reasons why you should make the commitment to a real marble countertop.
It can be sealed to add stain protection
One of the main concerns that homeowners have about choosing real marble for kitchen countertops is that will stain. While marble can be more susceptible to stains or etches from acidic foods and beverages, there are precautions that can be taken to help avoid this. Your countertop fabricator can ward off stains by applying an impregnating sealer that fills the pores just below the stone’s surface to slow the absorption of liquids, allowing more time to clean up spills. Today’s sealers are highly effective at preventing staining, without altering the look of the stone itself.
While no sealer can prevent etching, which is a dulling of the stone when it comes into contact with acidic materials, a high-quality sealer can go a long way in shielding your new marble from stains for years, or even decades. Ask your fabricator if they offer a multi-year stain warranty to help put your mind at ease.
Honed marble is just as gorgeous as polished, and you won’t have to worry about etching nearly as much. Honed marble has a more matte surface finish, meaning any dullness that may occur from a rogue lemon slice will be much less noticeable than it would be on a highly polished surface. Honed marble has a soft, satin finish rather than a glossy shine – a look that many homeowners actually prefer.
Some homeowners choose to install manufactured quartz countertops that look like marble products, which can be made to mimic natural stones like marble, believing that they will be easier to maintain. While an engineered material might be lower maintenance than marble, it will never have the same depth, unique patterns, and range of colors as natural stone.
Plus, when you install a true marble countertop or vanity, you have the opportunity to select a 100% unique slab. No other kitchen will have the exact same veining and characteristics that you have in yours.
If you’re a baker, you’ll be happy to learn that marble is one of the most heat resistant stones out there, and is much more heat resistant than a common competitor – resin-based engineered quartz. This quality makes marble a popular choice for fireplace surrounds as well as counters, islands, and vanities.
Natural stone increases the value of your home.
Stone countertops will increase the value of your home and appeal to potential buyers, if and when you’re ready to sell. Updated countertops made of natural stone are aesthetically beautiful and show that you’ve invested and cared for your home.
Talk to your countertop fabricator before you make a final decision. Most will be more than happy to give you a sample of the marble color you’re eyeing so you can take it home for a field test. Pour some lemonade on it, leave a coffee ring, drop a tomato slice – put your sample to the test to see how it reacts. Better yet, try a sample of both polished and honed marble to see the difference in performance.
Every homeowner should take their time to make sure they’re choosing a material that’s perfect for both their lifestyle and aesthetic. A Natural Stone Institute Accredited fabricator would be happy to answer any questions you might have about marble or any other stone material so you can feel confident in your final decision.
Anyone who’s ever watched Fredrik Eklund ooh and over a slab of it on Million Dollar Listing knows that Carrara Marble Obsession is a real thing. For almost a decade now, we’ve seen all kinds of kitchen countertops—Formica, laminate, granite—enthusiastically ripped up and replaced by the shiny white stone with subtle gray veining. But lately, interior designers are looking beyond the ubiquitous material and its siblings, Statuary and Calacatta Gold.
“While there’s nothing wrong with these marbles per se, there’s a tremendous breadth of expressive varieties out there that can add a significant amount of dynamism and personality to your project if you’re willing to think outside the box,” says Kevin Greenberg, founder of Space

Granite is a natural stone that is quarried in many countries around the globe. Granite and Quartzite are the names that are used interchangeably wherever stone tile and slabs are sold. True Granite is a porous, igneous rock that has any number of chemical compositions that include a quartz base. Quartzite is a metamorphic rock that has a higher percentage of quartz in its chemical makeup than granite does.
For the record, true quartzite is harder than true granite. But, don’t get too caught up in the name of the stone because regardless of which it is, geologically speaking, it has the same purpose and durability.
White Granite is harder to find than black or brown granite. All granite gets its name from the background color. Some white granite slabs have veins similar to marble while others may have a spattering of freckles in either brown, grey, black or red and may include a sprinkling of blue throughout.
Bhandari Marble Group classic granite products are available in all colors, all shapes, and finishing. Granite for all projects and other stones are also available. We deal in Granite which includes tiles, floor designs, flooring, images, India, prices, statues, suppliers, stones, etc.
Granite is a common type of felsic intrusive igneous rock that is granular and phaneritic in texture. Granites can be predominantly white, pink, or gray in color, depending on their mineralogy. The word granite comes from the Latin geranium, a grain, in reference to the coarse-grained structure of such a completely crystalline rock. Strictly speaking, granite is an igneous rock with between 20% and 60% quartz by volume, and at least 35% of the total feldspar consisting of alkali feldspar, although commonly the term granite is used to refer to a wider range of coarse-grained igneous rocks containing quartz and feldspar.

Granite and Quartzite are the names that are used interchangeably wherever stone tile and slabs are sold.
– True Granite is a porous, igneous rock that has any number of chemical compositions that include a quartz base.
– Quartzite is a metamorphic rock that has a higher percentage of quartz in its chemical makeup than granite does.
Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk. The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk is an American single-seat, twin-engine stealth attack aircraft that was developed by Lockheed's secretive Skunk Works division and operated by the United States Air Force. Top speed:993 km/h Wingspan:13 m The Nighthawk is an attack jet with stealth capabilities although having a “F” designation and often being called a “stealth fighter”, the F-117 don’t have any air-to-air potential. The Nighthawk was designed to have a very low Radar Cross-Section (RCS), this was made due to the project being developed by radar engineering rather than by aerospace engineering. One of the main problems of keeping a low RCS is that the plane was aerodynamically unstable and that was a big issue in the 1960s because the computer technology could not provide the necessary flight computers which would later allow aircraft such as the F-117 and B-2 Spirit to stay airborne. The Nighthawk was sent to multiple combat operations, the first one was during the United States invasion of Panama in 1989, where 2 F-117A dropped bombs on the Rio Hato airfield. During the Gulf War in 1991, the Nighthawks were used to drop laser-guided bombs on targets in areas where optically aimed AAA and infrared SAMs were present as this was the biggest threat to Coalition aircraft, most operations were done at night to fully conceal the aircraft. Only one F-117 was lost in combat and that was during Operation Allied Force in 27 March 1999, the Yugoslav troops spotted the Nighthawk on the radar when it’s bomb bays were open, the increase in radar signature allowed the SA-3 “Goa” SAM to lock and fire the missiles, the pilot ejected but the plane crashed at a slow speed and in an inverted position, the damage done to the airframe was low, after six hours, the pilot was rescued by an USAF pararescue team. The Serbs invited Russian personnel to inspect the remains of the aircraft, some say that the russian stealth technology had a significant advance after this incident. Today, the F-117A Nighthawk is out of service but is still being maintained to keep it in condition to be recalled to service, some Nighthawks were spotted flying in the Nellis Bombing Range in 2015 and some of them are flown periodically.

10 Major Sea Ports in India
According to the Ministry of Shipping, 95% of India’s foreign trade is mainly via sea ports. These ports play a crucial role in the International North-South Trade Corridor (INSTC), which connects the Indian Ocean to trade with the Eurasian trade corridors and the Arctic. The coastal regions of Maharashtra, Kerala, Goa, Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and West Bengal are home to nine of the total thirteen major Indian sea ports. As India continues to stir up high volumes of global imports and exports, here are ten of India’s most substantial container and cargo shipping ports:
1. Nhava Sheva Port:
The Nhava Sheva port, also known as Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), is one of the busiest container ports in India with annual traffic of 5.05 million TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit). It features in World’s Top 30 sea ports and has seen a steady rise in traffic in the past five years. It is responsible for 56% of India’s container traffic and will see almost double the capacity once the construction of its fourth terminal is completed. Also known as the King Port across the Arabian Sea, it was built back in 1989 and is situated in Navi Mumbai. The main shipments exported from the port include machinery, chemicals, pharmaceutical products, textiles, carpets, plastics, and sports goods.
2. The second busiest port in India is The Port of Mundra, with annual traffic of 4.4 million TEU. It is ranked at the 32nd position in the World’s Top 50 sea ports. With fast-rising traffic, Mundra Port almost doubled its traffic of 2.7 million TEU in 2014. Furthermore, it is India’s largest commercial port by size and acts as a significant gateway to the hinterland of northern India. The Mundra Port is owned by the Adani Group and has four container terminals that boast a capacity of 7.5 million.
3. Chennai Port: The Port of Chennai is the third biggest port in India and has annual traffic of 1.5 million TEU. The port is one of the oldest in India, which started official port operations in 1881. Although the port was in danger of losing importance, its 2018 performance saw an increase of almost 3.5% on the previous year. It has the honour of being the location for India’s first dedicated container terminal, which opened in 1983. It is an artificial and all-weather port with wet docks. Its second container terminal opened in 2009 and is entirely run by PSA International.
4. Kolkata Port: The Port of Kolkata is the fourth busiest in India and has annual traffic of 796,000 TEU. Also dubbed as “Gateway of Eastern India,” the port manages cargo that arrives from Australia and Southeast Asia. It utilizes two dock systems — Haldia docks and Kolkata docks. It’s a natural river port and can comfortably accommodate ships up to 500 feet in length. The Kolkata Port was the first major port in India and a crucial trading post in colonial times. It is the busiest port for the trade of jute, and a major exporter of iron ore, copper, steel, leather, coal, and tea. Imports include heavy machinery, fertilizers, paper, chemical products, and crude oil.
5. V.O. Chidambaranar Port: The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust, also known as Tuticorin Port, has annual traffic of approximately 698,000 TEU. The all-weather port is also the fourth-largest container terminal facility in India by size. The Sethusmudram Shipping Canal project, which concerns the shallow waters between India and Sri Lanka, will make the area viable for mega-ships and increase the traffic substantially. Main imports and exports include cooking oil, salt, grain, petroleum, and coal.
6. Kandla Port: The Kandla Creek area located 90 kilometres away from the Gulf of Kutch is home to the Port of Kandla. It is one of the oldest ports in India and was constructed back in the 1950s following the India-Pakistan partition. It was the first export processing port in India. Based on the amount of cargo and value of the shipment moved through this port, it is the biggest container port in India. It’s also known as the most affluent and the busiest port, due to its high profitability for exporting grain and importing oil. The imports include petroleum, heavy machinery, salt, textiles, and chemicals.
7. Mumbai Port: The western coast city of Mumbai is home to India’s largest port by size and shipping traffic. The port is situated in a natural harbour with water reaching depths of 10–12 meters, allowing easy docking and passage for large cargo ships. The Mumbai Port is critical to the Indian economy and trade operations as it handles 20% of the foreign trade. It was the first container terminal in India, which handled over 2 million TEU per year. It has four jetties that control several imports and exports, including manganese, crude, and petroleum oil, textiles, tobacco, liquid chemicals, leather, and heavy machinery.
8. Vishakapatnam Port: Located in the East Coast of India, the Vishakapatnam Port, also known as Vizag Port, is the oldest shipyard in India. Inaugurated as a significant sea port in 1933, it manages 1.2 million metric tons of cargo every year in its 24 berths. It comprises of three harbours — outer, inner, and fishing harbour. In 2017, more than 500 thousand TEU of cargo was transshipped in this port. Some of the common goods that are imported and exported via this port include iron ore, alumina, oil, pellets, etc.
9. Cochin Port: The Port of Cochin is one of the major ports in South-West India, and it moves 11 million metric tonnes of imports every year. Established in 1928, the port of Kochin is located on two islands — Willingdon Island and Vallarpadam. In 2016 the port transshipped over 0.4 million TEU of cargo. It has an anchorage depth of nearly 14 meters, and a cargo depth of over nine meters makes it possible to host ships of over 500 feet in length. The inner bay is partitioned into two navigation channels — the Ernakulum Canal and the Mattancheri Canal. Imports and exports consist mainly of coffee, spices, tea, fertilizers, and mineral oils.
10. Port Blair Port: The Andaman and Nicobar islands are home to the Port Blair Port. It is one of the youngest ports in India and sits inside a natural harbour with a depth of twelve to thirteen meters. Due to its significant economic contributions, Port Blair was declared an official shipping and cargo port by the Indian government. Port Blair serves as a connection point between the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea and can comfortably accommodate ships up to 500 meters in length.

What is a Property Tax?
Every property is an asset which is taxable and the amount which is paid by the owner of the property to the government annually is known as the property tax. The tax can be paid to the state government or the Municipal Corporation, depending on the government policies. The word “property” in this context refers to all tangible real estate under the ownership of an individual which includes houses, commercial spaces and rented spaces to a third party.
The concept of property tax is been found around for centuries and is accepted across the globe, with proper records of farmers and workers paying tax on their properties even in the middle ages.
The given below is the formula used by the Municipal Corporation of India to calculate the property tax of an individual.
Property tax = base value × built-up area × Age factor × type of building × category of use × floor factor.
Different civic corporations use different methods to calculate tax, but the general overview of such calculations remains the same.
Property tax in India depends on the location of the property, with taxes varying from state to state.
The first assessment is carried by finding the occupancy status whether it is self-occupied or rented out, type of property (residential or commercial), amenities provided (car parking, rainwater harvesting, store, etc.), year of construction (single floored or kutcha structure etc), and the carpet area of the property.
After getting the necessary details the civic agencies use the formula to calculate the tax.
The property tax can also be calculated online. Just visit the municipal corporation website and have a search for Property Tax Calculator.
How to find the real home value?
Start with online valuation tools
The information provided by you will be used along with the information gleaned from public records to get the estimated value of the property. It is a simple and convenient way to get a crystal clear idea of what your home might be worth.
Work with a realtor.
- Realtors use their own techniques for determining the value and it can be helpful to get a second opinion. The process used by realtors is known as Comparative Market Analysis (CMA).
- Working on with CMA, realtors usually look for the recently sold homes that are similar in size, location, no of bedrooms, location and in design.
- Broker Price Opinion (BPO) is another tool to determine your home value.
- BPOs are often used more than CMA for short sale or foreclosure situation rather than regular home sales. BPOs costs money.
- Keeping in mind that CMA or a BPO still miss the mark because of the untaken feature that affects the property value.
Hiring a professional appraiser
The job of the appraiser is to provide an impartial, thoroughly researched estimate of a home’s value. They get the details by visiting the property and reviewing the recently sold or pending sales comps.
If you are planning to hire an appraiser, do note down what report will be provided by the results of the appraiser.
On a point, the appraiser uses a checklist named “Fannie Mae’s Uniform Residential Appraisal Report”, this checklist is verified by the appraiser to check whether the conditions are met or not.
An appraiser should look for the following details
Location of the home.
Whether the home is in the FEMA flood zone.
Condition of the utility service and fixture on the property.
Details of when the home was built.
On what type of foundation it was built.
Conditions of the attic and basement, heating and air system, walls, windows and doors.
Looking out for amenities.
Any additional repairs and improvements are needed.
Condition of appliances in the home.
Finding out any sign of damage that would compromise the structural soundness of the home.
Analyzing your own comps.
we can also compare our house using some factors to a similar one selling in our area.
Structural components and features.
Size and age of your property.
Sales history if any
Any improvement or construction.
Overall condition of the home.
Neighbourhood and location
Listing price vs Actual sale price.
Impact of GST on the Real Estate sector.
Indian economy is established by many industries working to make the economy strong and real estate industry is one of it. In present real estate industry contributes 6-8% of GDP and it is assumed that it will grow up to 13% by 2030.
At the recent GST council meeting held on 24th of February 2019, new GST rates have been introduced for residential real estate that will be applicable from 1st of April 2019. During the pre-GST era of taxation, multiple taxes were applicable such as VAT, stamp duty, registration charges and services charges that varied among different states with different charges. GST has played a significant role in simplifying the rates of taxation in the real estate sector that ranges from 5% - 18% depending upon some key factor.
New rates were applicable for GST in the Real Estate Sector.
Types of Real estate property. Rates after GST
Residential Property (affordable housing segment)
8% with Input Tax Credit (ITC)
1% without ITC
Residential Property (non-affordable housing segment)
12% with ITC
5% without ITC
Commercial Properties
12% with ITC
12% with ITC (unchanged)
After the GST implementation on real estate in 2017, the industry was in assuming a dropping posture. However, in early 2018, there was an increase in demand and supply for real estate.
The growth was increased in affordable mid-income housing. The rates for the sales property witnessed an increase while in larger cities such as Delhi has a 2% decline in property sales, not because of GST but of oversupply of the housing sector. As on a note 2019 promises to be a better year for Indian Real Estate as the demand for both commercial and residential properties is expected to get a boost.

The Best Time to Buy a Gulf Of Goa Coastal Plot
Introduction: The allure of owning a piece of paradise along the serene beaches of Goa is a dream cherished by many. With its stunning coastline along the Arabian Sea, Goa offers a unique opportunity for real estate enthusiasts to invest in coastal plots. However, like any investment, timing is crucial. In this article, we'll explore the factors that determine the best time to buy a Gulf of Goa coastal plot.
1. Off-Peak Season Advantage: One of the prime considerations when buying coastal property in Goa is the time of year. The off-peak season, usually during monsoon, often presents great buying opportunities. Sellers may be more willing to negotiate prices during this time, as the demand for coastal properties tends to dip due to the rainy weather.
2. Post-Tourist Season Deals: As the tourist season winds down, typically in late March or early April, property prices can become more affordable. Sellers who didn't find buyers during the peak season may be motivated to lower their asking prices. This period can be an excellent time to strike a deal.
3. Analyzing Market Trends: Keep an eye on the local real estate market trends. If you notice a pattern of property prices dropping during a particular time of year, it could be an indication of the best time to buy.
4. Considering Infrastructure Developments: Check for any planned infrastructure developments in the area. If there are upcoming projects like road expansions or new amenities, buying before these developments can significantly increase the property's value.
5. Researching Local Events: Be aware of any local events or festivals that might draw a significant number of tourists. These events can lead to a temporary surge in property demand and prices.
6. Consult Local Real Estate Experts: Seek advice from local real estate experts who are familiar with the Gulf of Goa market. They can provide valuable insights into the best times to invest.
7. Your Long-Term Goals: Consider your long-term goals for the property. Are you looking for a holiday home, an investment for rental income, or a future retirement spot? Your objectives can influence when you should buy.
Conclusion: Investing in a Gulf of Goa coastal plot can be a rewarding venture. However, the best time to buy depends on a combination of factors, including market trends, weather conditions, and your personal goals. By staying informed and conducting thorough research, you can make an informed decision and find the perfect coastal plot in this picturesque region.

Photo series #11
Today, we have a stealth post but you should be able to see because this photo series is about the Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk.
The development of this plane has been shrouded with secrecy and even today after it’s retirement, lots of information about it is still classified.
Born out of the Have Blue technology demonstrator, the Nighthawk is an attack jet with stealth capabitilies although having a “F” designation and often being called a “stealth fighter”, the F-117 don’t have any air-to-air potential.
It’s design is made from 2-D flat surfaces as a result of the 1970s computer limitations because of this, some may say the aircraft’s frame was obsolete even before going into service.
Well, that’s it for this photo series, i guess we might see some Nighthawks in action again if some big conflict fires up and the needs for a precision bomber arises.
As always, if you have any suggestions or want to contribute for the next photo series, send them to me, i’ll be more than happy to upload them.
Have a good day, folks!

Xavi feels 32 teams better for World Cup
MUMBAI: In the scorching 2pm heat of south Mumbai (32 degrees Celsius approx), 2010 World Cup winner, Xavi Hernandez, entered a dry mud ground in Colaba on Monday to play ball with some kids. He passed the ball around, offered a few tips to the young, enthusiastic listeners before walking off the field.
“It’s hot out there, isn’t it?” was the first question casually thrown at him. “Ah, it’s nothing. It’s hotter in Doha,” he quipped, adding, “I’m used to it now.” It’s no surprise there, as Xavi has been playing for Qatar’s Al-Sadd SC for the past four years in a deal that saw him become the ambassador for the 2022 Fifa World Cup to be held in the Gulf nation.
Off late, Fifa president Gianni Infantino has been campaigning in favour of the 2022 World Cup having 48 teams competing, 16 teams more than the current 32. Xavi though, thinks otherwise.
“A 32-team World Cup is better for the show, for spectators and even for the players. The competition won’t be too long. In my opinion, it will not be good,” the 39-year-old Spaniard, who was in the city as part of Qatar’s Generation Amazing programme, said. The foundation has tied up with a local NGO, Oscar Foundation, which helps kids from slum areas using football as a medium.
Xavi’s name was in the headlines on Sunday as Lionel Messi scored a stunning hat-trick in Barcelona’s 4-1 win over Real Betis to record his 477th victory for the club, surpassing the playmaker’s record of 476. Xavi only had superlatives for the Argentine.
“Every day he is becoming a better player. He is unbelievable and in my opinion he is the best player, not in the moment, but in history. Every game he makes a difference, and he has been doing it for the past 12 years,” he said.
Mention Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol and Sergio Busquets, his teammates when Pep Guardiola was managing Barcelona, and Xavi’s face lights up.
“I love to pass, and that team we enjoyed a lot. We had that amazing generation. The fact that everybody still talks about that team makes me very proud,” he said.
A lot has changed for Xavi since leaving Barcelona in 2015 after winning four Champions League and eight La Liga titles. One aspect he had to get accustomed to, rather quickly, was playing in near-empty stadia. He says he’s enjoying his time there, though.
“It’s a new country just because of the World Cup. Everything’s changing in the country. The infrastructure they are building is going to be amazing. It’s incredible how a football World Cup can change a country so much,” he said.
Infrastructure aside, Qatar has done brilliantly on the football field, winning the Asian Cup this year in a telling fashion. Xavi said that they could compete with any national team now.
“Because I know them, I know that they have a very good generation of players. It started with the Aspire Academy in 2006. They have a project, which will not end in 2022, but the main objective is 2022. The Asian Cup win is a historic achievement but they are capable to win or do well in any competition,” he said.
Xavi seems to be enjoying his role as ambassador for the 2022 World Cup. It was evident in the way he humbly spoke to the youngsters, joked with them, clicked selfies and even broke a coconut (as part of a ground-breaking ceremony). He knows a lot about the Indian Super League (ISL) too. In fact, he was following the final held on Sunday in which Bengaluru FC beat FC Goa by a solitary goal.
“I know the coaches of both the teams very well as they worked in Barcelona,” he said referring to Sergio Lobera (Goa) and Carles Cuadrat (Bengaluru). “The ISL is improving. I know many Spaniards who play here and they say it’s good.”

Marble is a metamorphic rock that developed from limestone. Most of the material is calcite and dolomite. It is often used for sculpture, as a building material, and for many other purposes. The word ‘marble’ is also used for other stones that can be polished well and for ball shaped objects used for child games. Marble has been used in construction for thousands of years. It was widely used by Greek and Roman sculptors and architects.

· Quarried block of Tennessee marble
In the construction trade, the term “marble” is used for any massive, crystalline calcite rock useful as building stone. Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of re-crystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. Marble is typically not foliated, although there are exceptions. In geology, the term “marble” refers to metamorphosed limestone, but its use in stonemasonry more broadly encompasses un-metamorphosed limestone.
BHANDARI MARBLE GROUP
Marble are one of the oldest and most functional decorative materials in the World. Marble has been quarried in India & Italy and many other European countries for centuries. Traditionally, people used marble as a building block and tombstone in ancient Rome and India Minor. Due to proximity of old quarries like Makrana White, White Carrara and Afyon White three of the oldest quarries in the World buildings in surrounding areas use marble blocks to dress and construct various buildings. Eventually, Indian & Romans were able to cut marble blocks thinner to use in marble flooring and marble countertops.
Marble Tiles
Late from 16th century marble cutting technology improved and marble became more of a decorative interior element in various forms. Thin cutting technology with diamond tools improved the process and 15 mm to 20 mm thick marble slabs were sawn. Various diamond tools were also used in polishing the surface and give it a smooth finish.
Today some of the most popular marbles are Indian marble
Makrana White Marble, White Carrara, Calacatta White Marble, Spanish Crema Marfil and Turkish Afyon white. These marbles are also known by variety of names in Italian and other languages. For example, White Carrara is also known as Bianco Carrara and so on. In addition, each marble quarry produces different styles of marble distinguished by its veins, background color, and markings. All of these unique attributes make each slab of marble a unique piece of stone.
Marble, like all-natural materials vary from shipment to shipment and from block to block. Different quarries produce more or less desirable look and veins from time to time.
Rajasthan State of India & Carrara region of Italy is particularly rich in beautiful marble quarries.

Marble tiles or thin tiles became available in late 1631 and it is one of the most popular forms and shapes of natural stone. They usually come 15 mm to 20 mm thick and thin form makes it easy to transport and install. Marble tiles are a fantastic way of decorating kitchen floors, kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, and bathroom floors. Marble floor tiles are easy to install and last forever. Unlike other forms of material, marble tiles can be re-polished over time. Most popular sizes are 12×12 tiles, 18×18 tiles and 12×24 wall and floor tile. A good sealer is always recommended to seal marble tiles after installation.
Usage of Marble Slabs & Tiles
Kitchen backsplashes use a combination of small size marble tiles or mosaics. 3×6 subway tile can be installed in a straight joint or staggered joint. Water-jet cut marble tiles also add an element of dimension to any kitchen installation. You can use several colors mixed or solid to achieve a highly decorative element in your kitchen.
The effects of Marble on temperature
One of the less well-known qualities of marble is, its ability to keep indoor temperatures cool. In general marble is lower than room temperature and keeps cool. This particular quality is important in warm areas since it reflects sun and keeps the room cool. Builders in Resort areas like and the Islands tile the entire floor with marble. Large format tiles like 24×24 or 36×36 marble tiles are used on the entire floor to give a rich look.
Marble as mosaic tiles
Marble mosaics are another popular form of this material. Mosaic art has been around for centuries. It was mostly hand clipped with artisans and laid on cement beds. Today modern technology enables us to cut marble mosaics almost into any shape and size. They are usually mounted on mesh or plastic net for ease of installation. One of the most practical applications of mosaic tiles is shower floors. Especially with small format marble mosaics like 1×1 you can create a slope inside showers. Furthermore, grout joints in these mosaics create a natural non-slip surface.
Black and White Marble
Before telling the story of Black and White Marble, we need to know more about how black and white had an important place in human history. Black and white is like day and night. Each of them is unique in certain ways. There is black when there is no light. Because of that many people believe black is not a color itself because it is actually the absence of color. On the other hand, white appears when all colors equally blended. When the rain drops break the sunlight, we see the rainbow with all the colors in the spectrum. They inspired artists, intellectuals and writers throughout the human history.

The philosophy of Black and White Marble
The famous Jain temples Symbol which is known as Jain temples is formed of black and white pieces. In Indian culture, these two opposing colors represents contrary forces and the Symbol tells us something about how two different, opposite idea or color may actually be very interconnected and complementary to each other just as black and white marble. This notion of duality indeed had a huge impact on ancient Rome where we see the first usage of black and white marbles.
One of the most popular black and white marble combinations is the checkerboard look. That beautiful passage from the book “Revelations of the Aquarian Age” tells more about black and white checkered marble floors. “So, he decided to explore the ancient Indian & Roman house. As she walked up to the marble staircase to the upper rooms, skylights above the long upper hallway cast diffused light onto soft black and white checkered marble floor.
The History of Black and White Marble
We know that black and white marbles with checkerboard look were used not only in ancient Rome but also in different parts of Europe and India. These marbles decorated the floors in Agra, Jaipur, Kolkata, Paris, Milan and London for centuries and keep its classic look.
After the excavation of Pompeii, we learnt more about ancient Greek’s love for white Carrara marble. Carrara marble made black and white marbles popular throughout the history. Today most popular size that is used in this timeless design is 12×12 & 9×9 tiles. There are many popular marbles but we have to name Negro Marquina and Thasos Marble or Makrana white marble ahead of others. Also, Indian & Belgian Black Marble and Statuario Marble were very popular to form this classic checkerboard look.
Negro Marquina and Indian black marble is a high quality, black marble which is extracted in North Spain. It has its unique genuine black color and white veins that made this marble popular.
Thasos Marble is extracted from the marble quarries in the Greek Island. The name of the marble comes from the name of the island. This island is located on north Aegean Sea. Throughout the history the island was known as one of the major sources of marble. Noir Beige or Indian & Belgian Black refers the unique Belgium Black Marble. Black marble deposits in India & Belgium belongs to sedimentary rock formations which date back to Approx 350 million years ago. It was widely used in Mughal and Roman Empire as a decorative construction material. Today it is one of the most expensive marbles in the world.
Statuario Marble was widely used to form black and white marble checkerboard look. It contains heavy, bold gray veining mixed with thinner patterns. It is a precious stone extracted from Italian quarries.
Black and White Marble in Checkerboard Pattern
The checkerboard pattern was transferred from India to other parts of World by European immigrants late 16 the century and become one of the popular marble patterns. While it lost its popularity quite some time, we see that there is resurgence in these beautiful black and white marbles.
It is not a surprise that these marbles become popular again because it has some sort of flexibility to almost any floors. It can easily suit with a variety of styles including rustic, retro, minimal or traditional. This makes black and white marbles the sweetheart of marble world.
Black and White Marble
I locate that understanding a short history of a sample helps one to apprehend how it works so nicely these days. In ancient Egypt, the checkerboard pattern turned into used in hieroglyphics to decipher a scribe’s pill. It became also observed in ancient artifacts from Indian, Iranian and Roman paved flooring. During the renaissance, inlaid checkerboard tiles and marble were used in areas as a reversion to ancient instances. It became regularly visible as an image of wealth. Artists also used it as a device to depict their new perception of perspective and show off their skills.
Today if you want to make surface look bold and beautiful, you can use the classic combo of checkerboard marble pattern. It will certainly have a huge impact on the floor whether you use the classic black and white checkerboard or you try a more intricate pattern or motif. It perfectly fits for kitchens, hallways, living rooms, baths and entryways. Because it is very eye-catchy and timeless so it adds a sense of richness, classiness to your home.
List of Black and White Marble Collections
We see that classical interiors often use large-scale black and white stone tiles. This gives an expansive effect. Contrasting borders or ornamental stone insets are sometimes used to create the effect of an area rug.

Marble Slabs is the most challenging shape of marble. Best marble slabs come in smaller sizes and shapes. In order to get the best marble slab for marble countertops, you have to look for a slab that has good color distribution, free of cracks and has a good contrast between the background and veins. A typical marble slab is 5 ft by 3 ft and you can easily get two pieces of countertops from it. Most popular surface is polished surface. However, honed marble slabs are preferred to make wear and tear less visible. Honing marble slabs is usually done by skilled marble finishers or marble factories.
High quality Marble is must
We recommend all marble floors installation. There are different types which bring out all the colors and veins in marble to the surface. One can also achieve what is called a book match veins by polishing the opposite sides of alternating slabs & tiles to give a dramatic look.

Getting the India Tale
http://topicsofnote.com/?p=2092&utm_source=SocialAutoPoster&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Tumblr
Even right up until the transform of the millennium, NRI expenditure in Indian serious estate was a trickle. Some promoters would appoint a component-time regional agent in metropolitan areas with big Indian populations. The a lot more enterprising kinds would once in a while participate in an exhibition the place there would additional thoughts than answers. For the 20 million Indians spread across the globe, India, as a serious estate financial commitment destination, was far absent. You bought home there if you had to. And prayed that your money and residence would be secure.
In the very last 50 percent a dozen many years there has been a sea adjust in notion. What was a trickle is now a steady stream. No key housing project can pay for to overlook the NRI marketplace and many earmark unique NRI blocks in their setting up ideas. Indians overseas want to get into their home place not only for mother and father and once-a-year holidays but purely for financial investment. They have recognised that whilst, in a great deal of the earth, true estate could be slowing, in India it is escalating by leaps and bounds. "You will not have to promote India any more," says Aloke Banerjee, Main Operating Officer of Axiom Estates, the largest intercontinental supplier of India property services. "You have to go with discounts." "A large volume of fascination has designed," provides Rajesh Goenka, Running Director, who spearheaded the firm's original thrust amid the Uk Indians. "5 years back the initially news was trickling in that Indian serious estate is worthy of investing. Right now the brand name impression of India -- and of true estate developers in India -- has altered."
The character of consumers and the commitment to purchase also varies from nation to nation. In the Uk, which Goenka describes as the hardest market, most prospective buyers are next or third technology Indians, who search on India as just a different expense place and favour international sights like Goa. The United states of america has a bigger proportion of 1st era expatriates, who are open up to the notion of returning to India or have mother and father living below. The traditional metros, Bangalore and Hyderabad are their preferred places. Indians in the Gulf generally system to return and hence request assets in their hometown, often in the scaled-down metropolitan areas. Predominantly, nonetheless, NRIs search for a return on financial commitment with more affluent people seeking to commit in industrial space the place rental incomes are commonly above 10% and offset the fascination value.
There have been a lot of elements fuelling NRI desire. The India story now deserves standard content articles in mainline newspapers this sort of as The Situations, Wall Avenue Journal or New York Occasions, encouraging everybody to look for a piece of the motion. The easing of repatriation regulations has made it easier to encash returns on expenditure. Developers have come to be additional expert. Banking companies are extra eager to lend. In latest months the strengthening rupee and weakening US actual estate current market have created India even more beautiful. The most crucial rationale most likely is that the Indian true estate increase is viewed as getting led by genuine end-user need and that's why sustainable in the very long run, making the financial commitment safe and sound.
The marketing of genuine estate is also getting far more organised, facilitating...the shopping for course of action. Even though earlier, developers would search for to do their possess internet marketing, currently they rely mainly on businesses like Axiom Estates, which is headquartered in London and has places of work in New York, Fremont and Dubai as properly as associates in a amount of other metropolitan areas. NRIs way too count on the expert assistance and transaction management to make sure a fantastic expense. "My experience is that Indians abroad are incredibly tech-savvy," states Aloke Banerjee. "They investigate a good deal on the web. But then comes examination paralysis, so they require anyone to manual them. This is the place Axiom Estates arrives in. Despite the fact that we produce a good deal of enquiries through our website, we are not a virtual office or portal but have brick and mortar presence in their nation. We have men and women to maintain their hand and choose them by way of the whole price chain. This involves buy, home administration, permitting, furnishing, home finance loan and, in some situations, resale of the residence."
Apart from products and services, Axiom features the NRI consumer a myriad of house possibilities. The corporation has tied up with shut to 100 Category 1 builders and can provide consumers pan Indian assets as properly as alternative within just person towns. At any point of time, a purchaser will have in excess of 300 tasks to pick out from. In addition, big investors also get the chance of pre-reserving bargains i.e. property delivers at a value that is commonly only offered to the neighborhood neighborhood. Significant net well worth people today also have alternatives for block booking or project improvement by means of Axiom for larger returns on expense. Several realty traders also request the company's portfolio management products and services, where by the expenditure is spread across various attributes and towns, ensuring an optimum mix of security and return.
To market the attributes Axiom employs numerous procedures which includes extensive data foundation management to fit need and availability. The organization organises residence reveals in United states, Canada, United kingdom and now in the Gulf, in affiliation with developers. These are publicized through area Television set strategies and content in newspapers for a number of weeks. Challenging duplicate residence catalogues are mailed to future potential buyers nicely in progress. At the reveals there are problem-and-respond to periods with builders, seminars with experts, and sharing of offers and articles.
