I've been tagged by @andro-beaurepaire to post my current WIPs and sketches and uh. Now is the time to hide in a hole because I haven't drawn in weeks/months actually.
The only recent sketch I have is this portrait of the count of Monte Cristo:

So I'm going to cheat a little and post old unfinished stuff or quick doodles! All of them are Temeraire:

(I already posted the Tharkay in a kilt on the Tem discord server but I still love it and at this point I'm already cheating, so.) (It's fanart for @sere-allwehaveisnow's lovely fic Scenes from a wedding, everyone check it out now)
I'm leaving an open tag for this one, anyone who wants to do it feel free to go on and tag me in it! <3

Book signings at DCC
This bloog was going to be about Blood of Tyrants, by Naomi Novik, but it ended up being a bloog about going to DCC and getting some books signed. So I’ll write the book review bloog another time.
Last weekend was Denver Comic Con. Last year, I was delighted to meet Robin Hobb at DCC, and two days before the con this year, I was like, “oh, I should see who’s going to be there this year.”
There were four authors I wanted to meet (though I only got to see three of them), and one was Naomi Novik. I had bought a new copy of His Majesty’s Dragons to get signed, and then at the con I bought Blood of Tyrants from the Tattered Cover book, because that’s the book I’m on, and we didn’t own it yet. I ran into an old friend I haven’t seen in a nine months in line at the TC booth, so that was cool too.
Tamora Pierce was at the con, which was super cool, especially since she was at TC for a book signing recently. I took my roommates copy of Wild Magic to get signed, since we hadn’t been able to find it for the TC signing, and my roommate wasn’t able to attend DCC. I think they underestimated how popular Tamora Pierce is because the line was a bit out of control, but I got it signed and was happy.
Later in the day, I got into the Naomi Novik line (which had more space than the Tamora Pierce line...) and was absolutely delighted to discover that the publisher was handing out ARCs of Spinning Silver, the new book in the Uprooted world. So now I have that to read!
When I got up to Naomi Novik, I had four books for her to sign (including Uprooted, which I bought from the TC booth while in line. Good product placement). My hubs also loves the Temeraire books and wanted me to tell Naomi Novik that he loves the audiobooks (I do too) and Iskierka is his favorite character. She then drew a little stick figure doodle of Iskierka and Granby in one of the books she signed, which was awesome. She was super nice.

And then I went and got The Tiger’s Daughter signed by K. Arsenault Rivera. We chatted about the sad lack of lesbian characters in fantasy, and the very gay performance of Cate Blanchet in Ocean’s 8 (Very, very gay.). K didn’t have a line, so we chatted a little bit, which was cool. The next book in the trilogy comes out in October, so I’m excited about that.
