It's shitty but this applies to almost every aspect of our lives.

People take men more seriously.

Doctors

Contractors / repairment

Car mechanics

Salespersons (of any kind)

Lawyers

When we have a new company come out to do an estimate of services on the house, I make sure I schedule them to come out at a time when my husband is going to be available. Not because of bullshit ideas of safety or anything. Not because he's more knowledgeable about the problems (he's an academic that only does routine maintenance on things because I make him.)

But because simply by him being there, I will be taken more seriously by proxy.

Whenever we go out to do something, we do it as a pair - he needs me because I'll actually do the work, and I need him because he's my Please Take Me Seriously buddy.

I wish that this wasn’t necessary and the world cared more about women’s health.
