WIP Wed - Now On Whichever Day Because Deadlines Are Fake Social Constructs To Make Me Feel Bad About Procrastination
Fresh from the keyboard here is another chunk of the Cowboy AU:
Stiles saw him at the edge of the bar. The man with the dazzling chain. His hat was pulled low, but not low enough that Stiles couldn’t make out the brush of stubble along his jaw or the pretty curves of his lips as they caressed the glass he was drinking from. He was covered in a layer of travel dust that he hadn’t bothered to shake off. The man looked up. His eyes devoured Stiles. Skated over his face, down his neck, over his shoulders, and his chest where Stiles was still clutching his jacket close. When the man was done with his inspection; his eyes, so clearly full of secrets, met Stiles’ again. Then he glared and turned away. Stiles blinked. That’s the fastest he’s ever angered someone. He didn’t even get a word out this time. Stiles wasn’t in the business of letting potential marks daunt him. They all fell for his charms eventually. Stiles walked with forced casual steps until he was standing in front of the patron. Then he placed his forearms against the bar and leaned into the man’s space, until the man was forced to lean back or find his face pressed into Stiles’ chest. “Howdy.” Stiles smiled even as his heart kicked up the pace. The man just glared at Stiles again. “We don’t get many gentlemen like you in town,” Stiles tried again. The man didn’t even open his mouth. “What’s got you traveling all alone?” Still nothing. “The silent type. More satisfying when I get it out of you.” Stiles winked. “Let me guess. You’re … Logan! The oil baron, come here to tell Old Man Gridle that parcel of land he’s holding onto is worth millions in black gold.” Nothing. “You’re Dean; a fourty-niner who got rich on his last excursion to California. I’m sorry to tell you Dean, I’m not fond of men who mistreat the natives.” Somehow the glare got more intense. It had to be the eyebrows. “Go away.” “He speaks! I must be getting close. You are… Peter! The banker. Oh! The bank robber, and you’ve just finished a heist and are hiding from the law.” Stiles watched as the man’s eyes went panicked. “Stay away from me,” The man growled, pushing back from the bar. Stiles reached across the bar to grab his wrist before he could rush from the room. “Wait.” Stiles was nearly yelling. Rushing to get the words out. “I won’t tell anyone about your bank heist, Peter. You don’t have to-“ “Derek.” The man stopped staring at where Stiles was holding onto him long enough to look at Stiles. “What?” Stiles blinked. “It’s – Don’t call me Peter. My name is Derek.” “Derek, then,” Stiles smiled and released Derek’s arm. “You don’t have to go.” Whatever loquacious spirit had flooded Derek earlier had vanished. He seemed to shake himself briefly before slamming his drink back. He turned on his heel and moved from the room at just too fast a pace to be a walk. “Nice talking to you, Derek!” Stiles called at his back. Stiles was rewarded with one final glare before Derek disappeared up the stairs.

Clover - Fourty Niner (1971) USA
(Blues/Country Rock)
Clover was an American country rock band formed in Mill Valley, California, in 1967. They are best known as the backup band for Elvis Costello’s 1977 debut album My Aim Is True (recorded in the UK), and for members later forming or joining more successful acts, including Huey Lewis and the News, The Doobie Brothers, Toto, and Lucinda Williams. Clover originally disbanded in 1978. Three members reunited for two concerts backing Costello in San Francisco on November 8, 2007.
Formed by members of the band Tiny Hearing Aid Company, Clover’s sound moved on from Bay Area psychedelia to the burgeoning country rock sound, similar to Creedence Clearwater Revival. 1970 saw their debut self-titled album released on Fantasy Records (also Creedence’s label), and a 1971 follow-up entitled Fourty Niner. Later the band moved to the UK and recorded Unavailable and Love on the Wire (both in 1977 and early efforts by producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange), before McFee, Ciambotti, Hopper and Shine backed Elvis Costello on his debut album My Aim Is True. Clover toured as the support group for Thin Lizzy in the UK during the late 1970s.
This is the second album by this band I will be reviewing. Earlier I reviewed their self titled album which was country as fuck with some cool blues rock tunes. Here’s a link to that review if you wanna check it out.
Beginning the album is folk rock tune Harvest. One of my favourites off here! The entire vibe to it is very neat and I can’t help but groove along. “...Soil is rich and there are fish in the river. Corn is growing high. With my wife and my children I came here...” Keep On Trying has some rad guitar riffs in the beginning which makes you think this tune will be a tiny bit heavier but nope. It’s mellow and laid back with a catchy chorus. Enjoyable tune! “...I met a girl, she was so fine. I tried so hard to make her mine but when I went to take her hand. She lead off with another man...” Following is a country acoustic Old Man Blues. A song, I assume, about a father sending his son off to war and later having to bury him. Title track Fourty Niner is a catchy one! The vocals are beautiful in this one, especially when they all harmonise on “...Runnin' around these hills, looking for that pot of gold. If you find it, you can keep it, because by then you'll be too old..." The piano is bitchin’! Not much to say about Sound of Thunder. I’m still groovin’ along and the pedal steel solo is a nice touch. The next tune is fucking ridiculous and maybe that’s why it’s so awesome. Chicken Butt. Yes, you read it right. Chicken Butt. A silly country bluegrass tune with a fiddle. This is the ultimate country tune. They eventually make some chicken noises and there’s persistent “YEE HAW”s. I like Mr. Moon. The lyrics are my favourite. “...Mr. Moon, he's a powerful man. He pull the ocean upon the land and makes men tell their women lies. When he comes over the rise...” Love Is Gone is more blues rock which I dig. Mitch’s Tune begins with some pedal steel guitar mixed with piano (incredible). This is another favourite of mine. Sunny Mexico has some tropical vibes to it. Of course there’s a part where they sing in Spanish. Not my personal favourite so I kinda just skipped it. If I Had My Way ends the album. Pretty enjoyable.
Both albums are pretty good! I feel like I enjoyed this one a tiny bit more. I would check it out.
1. Harvest 2. Keep On Tryin' 3. Old Man Blues 4. Fourty-Niner 5. Sound Of Thunder 6. Chicken Butt 7. Mr. Moon 8. Love Is Gone 9. Mitch's Tune 10. Sunny Mexico 11. If I Had My Way
Johnny Ciambotti (second left) - bass, vocals John McFee (second right) - lead guitar, pedal steel, violin, vocals Alex Call (right) - lead vocals, guitar Mitch Howie (left) - drums

More Scooby-Doo Where Are You. Episode 4-6
Episode 4: Mine Your Own Business
Monster: Miner Fourty-Niner
Interests: Title card music isn’t the original opening music? Shaggy riding in the back of the Mystery Machine must either be a later incarnation thing, or my mind just lies to me. Third episode he has been in the front. Laugh track is still around, either the 2nd episode didn’t have it for some reason or I watched a version where it was removed? But it seems to be better used like in episode 3 and not the super monstrosity it was in episode 1, just a normal monstrosity, maybe even a little monstrosity. Scooby steals cheese from a mouse trap, a mouse yells at him. ...One of the characters looks exactly like the monster minus a beard and hat. This is either a massive red herring, or they didn’t even want to try. Shaggy wants a fortune in chocolate cheese burgers. Scooby gets 2 Scooby Snacks. Shaggy lights dynamite thinking they are candles. Fred: “Wouldn’t you know it, ‘Danger Prone’ Daphne fell into a mine shaft” ... Fred fell through a floor earlier this episode. Shaggy confuses oil for chocolate syrup... Shaggy has a chocolate fetish. Shaggy imitates a train.
Episode 5: Decoy for a Dognapper
Monster: Indian Witch Doctor
Interests: Back of the Mystery Machine is filled with computer surveillance equipment and a table. The stuff seen from the first episode is no where to be found. Scooby gets bribed with a Scooby Snack, Shaggy intercepts it, he comments that it is not bad and tries to steal another Scooby Snack tossed at Scooby. Scooby gets cat called by another dog who does not take the rejection well and tries to push garbage at Scooby, Shaggy protects Scooby from the garbage. Shaggy knows a gas station attendant named Charlie, somewhat steals/borrows his motor scooter. We see the bad guy in costume, but out of character. ... So dude is upset because he wants show dogs stolen, unsure of the reasoning, but.. you stole a dog that can speak. I think that is worth more? A bat steals Velma’s glasses. Daphne gets kidnapped. Shaggy title drops. Shaggy manages to eat a sandwich. No trap,
Episode 6: What the Hex Going On?
Monster: Ghost of Elias Kingston
Interests: Scooby steal’s Shaggy’s sandwich. Scooby gets bribed with 4 Scooby Snacks, but Shaggy eats them. They find and save their friend Sharon off screen I guess. Monster breaks character while the gang is around. Their trap works! Scooby steals an entire turkey leaving a note, “SCOOBY-DOO WAS HERE”

Clover - Clover - 1970
2020-04-08
Continued exploring the catalog of Clover while working in the yard. I do like this debut album a little better than “Fourty Niner” previously spun.
At 30 minutes, I was able to get through this one a few times. Opening track “Shotgun” is a solid lead in, a little reminiscent of “Who Do You Love?” Most of the songs were good outlaw-country-jams, a few with the stuttering telecaster style of Waylon Jennings.
My favorite is probably “Monopoly” from this listen. How many songs can get away with a Sherman Anti-Trust Act reference in a love song?

Please God please. So Kate, Mikaela, Meg, and Elodie have Daphne outfits. I'm a Meg main and I love Daphne so much and would die to see my best girl as my other best girl. Mikaela is self explanatory. Red head that suits purple (Meg and Mikaela being our redhead girlies lmao). Her Waterfront Massacre outfit is what makes me see it. But I also think Elodie would look banging as Daphne, with like the purple headband and stuff? On my knees. I think they could all pull off Daphne.
Claudette, Jane, and Feng, would all be amazing Velmas. Claudette I can imagine mosly because of her Science GirlTM, but I also like to imagine her having the Minne Mouse hair (I like to call it that because it reminds me of Minnie Mouse, but I mean her Space Buns) for it. Something about Jane's Rockabilly look makes me want to see her as Velma. I don't know why or how but I think that style of two-piece outfit in V's iconic colours would look great. Feng I have no excuse for I just think she'd look cute. has Nancy I could see as either. I feel like her as Daphne is obvious (Like Steve being Fred) but I think she'd look cute as Velma too.
I actually think Steve, Jake, Leon, and Adam would be good Fred's. Obvious choices I know. Honestly this is just me asking for more clothes for Jake and the others. Leon and Steve of course are obvious for Fred. And Adam I just think would look neat. Maybe David too. But I also just want more clothes for him.
For Shaggy I'd say I can imagine Dwight, Ace, and Quentin. Ace just has that vibe, Quentin is cute, and all funny outfits go to Dwight.
We absolutely need a Ghostface white sheet one. Maybe even the Green Ghost costume. Or that could be for Pinhead because of the chains. Trapper could be Miner Fourty-Niner. Clown as, well, Ghost Clown.
Demodog gets to be Scooby, of course. Dwight also gets a Scooby costume because it's Dwight.
(Side note. Tbf, if they brought Robin from Stanger Things to Dbd I'd love for Robin to be Velma, Nancy to be Daphne, Steve as Fred, and Jonathan (Potentially Eddie if they brought him in too) as Shaggy. Argyle too lmao. Any of them would be perfect.)
Okay yeah but can I get a Scooby doo themed skin for dbd?
Imagine it, Felix or Dwight could be Fred, Kate or Meg could be Daphne, Claudette could be Velma, and Jake could be Shaggy.
Ghost face can get a sheet ghost skin.

lol but like.............. ARE there any nancy drew characters with bad teeth?? ANY? like not even the British ones. only the hideous fourty-niner puppet at the gift shop had a wooden “tooth” (I think?)
i don’t know if they did this on purpose but i think it’s a nice touch that they gave henry perfect teeth since bruno was a dentist

Clover - Fourty-Niner - 1971
2020-04-08
I had to take a client call from my office in town today, for increased focus and decreased chaotic background noise.
Slowly driving to the grocery store, picking up some energy drinks, and coming back home provided just the right amount of time to spin this pre-Huey Lewis Clover album.
Yes, my research lead me to find a very unique start to the more well known career - a la Kenny Rogers. This is some good “pub-rock” I guess is how it’s described.
Hard working bay area band, tight enough to play around.

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: War of the Miners fourty-niners, last day, preparing for the final onslaught.
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) War of the Miners fourty-niners, last day, preparing for the final onslaught.
The last days Battles had been going on for what seemed an eternity for those at the frontline, and now the clan leaderships asked for another effort. Some warriors broke down under the strain, others stared into a space only they could see. But most of the veterans nodded grimly and prepared to give their all.
With three hours remaining the score was:
DIVISION 1 Warlock 48 - 14 Death`s Collector`s The Warlocks seem headed for victory.
Leviathan 53 - 36 Brotherhood of Arcane Dragons Leviathan have gotten a big advantage. Is it big enough to withstand a desperate Dragon counteroffensive.
DIVISION 2
Northwind Dragons 60 - 39 Spirit of Bunny The Dragons have won three out of every five engagements so far, do the bunnies have hidden reserves?
Myth & Legends: Blood Wolves 50 - 31 Slaughter House 5 Slaughterhouse have narrowed the gap. Can they best the Wolves?
DIVISION 3
The Brotherhood BlackWatch 55 - 15 Death's Brethren BlackWatch looks like clear winners here.
Star League 66 - 6 Smurf Heavy Cavalry So far the Smurfs have only won every twelfth engagement. It seem unlikely that they can turn this fight.
DIVISION 4
Black Star Lycan Rangers 62 - 5 Avengers of Bunny The Rangers have an overwhelming advantage here.
Heroes 74 - 69 P.F.U.D.o.R. This battle have turned into what looks like a nailbiter. Keep an eye on it to catch the latest developments.
DIVISION 5
Death's Revenge 40 - 74 Diamond Dragons The Dragons diamond determination carries themn toward the victory.
Heroes Support 47 - 21 M&L Black Cats 13th A.D. The Heroes have succesfully herded the Cats into an hard spot.
Death's Disturbed Asylum 65 - 63 HF: Dragoons This is another nailbiter. The Asylants have a couple additional wins, but this fight is far from over.
Alpha Legion 21 - 44 Mad Scientist.7 The Scientists have gotten an advantage the Legionaries seem unlikely to nullify.
Division 6
Guardians of Bunny 1 - 39 Phoenix Phoenix can probably start the victory celebration now.
***Raging Vengeance*** 62 - 80 ARMORED CORE In the so far bloodiest slugfest of the day, the ARMORED CORE have managed to stay a bit in front of R.V. But will it last?
Smurf Platoon 26 - 47 Emerald Dragons The Smurfs have fallen behind. Can they rally?
Galaxy Rangers 5 - 49 Dinochrome Brigade The Dino`s have won nearly ten fights for each the Rangers have. It looks like a done deal.
DIVISION 7
Ronins 4 - 43 Black Star Bandits The Bandits are so far in front that the Ronins probably cant catch them.
Heroes Ranger Raccoons 39 - 75 Death's Reapers The Reapers offensive have given them a huge lead. Can the Raccoons grab enough wins to close the gap?
HF: 110th C.C. 1st A.R. 45 - 45 M&L NecroManiacs The Necromancers got out of the trap and have evened the score. Keep an eye on this thriller.
today and tomorrow 33 - 63 Brigade of Patrol Smurfs The Smurfs look to be headed for victory.
DIVISION 8
T.B. 1st K. Highlanders 49 - 2 **Raging Vengeance** R.V. have gotten a couple wins, but the Highlanders seem headed for a crushing win.
Behemoth 23 - 31 Sacrificial Lambs The Lambs have gotten a bit furter in front. Can the Behemoths catch up?
Heroes Light Brigade 22 - 41 JC`s Rowdy Bunch JC`s Bunch have control over the match for now. Can the Heroes come back?
MurderMechs 39 -36 Major Steel The MurderMechs have a slight advantage, but this is another match to watch.
DIVISION 9
Arctic Warfare Bandits 72 - 10 *Raging Vengeance* The Bandits must fumble badly toward the end to loose this match.
Indo Nusa Alliance 38 - 17 Karma INA have what might seem a secure advantage. But is it so?
ICP 42 - 64 *Raging Vengeance 2.0* R.V. are outscoring the ICP here.
Jagdstaffel 2 117 - 2 The Goonies The Jagdstaffel are massacring the Goonies.
