Character sheet for my Lord of Frenzied Flame. (had to make her to get the 100% ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

Started as a Godrick soldier, so you can tell she always had a keen eye for picking leaders. Anyway, after being reborn as a Tarnished, she met Hyetta and soon after, Shabriri. Being the very smart and not at all nihilist character she is, she followed his advice.

Hey, do you have any headcanons / theory from how a single village that exists in Weeping Peninsula is afflicted by Frenzy whereas very coincidentally Irina (who is connected with Hyetta of course) is from there too? My friend Val also investigated on Hyettas quest by killing Edgar before as much as talking to Irina, and turns out later Shabriri Grape appears on his place in the Castle Morne anyways, so if anything maybe bro was doomed no matter what 🤔 I am just not sure what came first - the village being afflicted and this family catching the "sickness", or Irina having a weird evil twin and infecting it herself hfhghghv There is a cut content note about Shabriri mentioning that he went to die (physically) IN Weeping Peninsula, so there is that too. Wanted to hear your ideas if you have them?

Thanks for the ask! Theory below the cut.

A few notes on the Ailing Village, just to see what info is available at first glance.

The church there is called the Callu Baptismal Church. Despite the ever-present religious imagery, I don't think baptism is referenced anywhere else in-game.

The Flame of Frenzy incantation is found there. The description doesn't really tell us anything specific, instead serving as the player's first basic introduction to the FF.

Incantation originating from the maddening Three Fingers.

Causes the yellow flame of frenzy to burst forth from the caster's eyes. Charging increases the range of the burst.

The flame of frenzy deals damage and causes buildup of madness. This incantation also causes buildup of madness in the caster and is only effective against Tarnished.

We also find the Flame Crest wooden shield. The wording of the description suggests to me that the village didn't just fall to Frenzy overnight -- instead, whether imposed or by choice, the village functioned as something of a leper colony. Alternatively, the corruption process was slow enough that the villagers had the presence of mind to try to warn off others who might have come looking for them.

A tall, medium-sized wooden shield. Light for its size, and easy to handle. Carried by soldiers of the village that is afflicted by frenzy.

The yellow flame is the symbol of the affliction, serving as a warning to those who might approach the village.

There is a Lesser Alabaster Lord quite close by. I'm not sure what to make of this.

I've posted a theory before detailing why I believe that Hyetta is A) one of Irena's past lives, and B) Vyke's maiden. I'll post a link below, along with the portions relevant here.

"Let’s start with the Shield of the Guilty description."

"Shield made to venerate a maiden whose eyes were crushed by Briars of Sin before being reborn in these lands."

"Given it’s placement on the Weeping Peninsula, we seem to be meant to assume that the maiden in question is Irina. According to her dialogue, her eyes have been weak since birth. After her revival (?) as Hyetta, she says the same, her blindness was a congenital condition, not the result of an illness or injury. Based on the Dung Eater’s questline, we know that killing someone in a specific way (or tampering with the body after death) can inflict a curse that persists into the next life."

... "Vyke and Hyetta are ambushed at the Church of Inhibition -- or, if you want to get really tragic, Vyke sent her away after his meeting with the Three Fingers so that she would not be incriminated by her association with him, only for the Confessors to hunt her down anyway."

"The Confessors execute Hyetta via the Briars of Sin. Vyke proceeds to lose his shit so hard that an echo of his rage (the berserker shade) still guards the church centuries after. For the first time, he gives in to the Flame of Frenzy."

There are three in-game settlements afflicted with the FF -- The Ailing Village, the Frenzied Flame Village, and the Yelough Anix Ruins. I'm not even going to touch the Yelough Anix (pretty sure "Anix" is a typo, but if it has some meaning I'm not aware of please share), but we know that the Frenzied Flame Village was the site of a meltdown by a host of the FF.

Although I can't prove that the Frenzied Flame Village wasn't afflicted prior to Vyke's meltdown, it would make sense if the village were infected by said event. I don't have enough proof to establish that a pattern (again, I have no idea who could have infected the Yelough Anix), but it's at least plausible that the Ailing Village was infected by contact with FF host such as Vyke.

There's also the possibility that Edgar was to blame. Note the Banished Knight's Halberd description:

A finely-crafted halberd intricately engraved with an ancient motif.

Given to knights who, whether by misfortune or misdeed, were forced to abandon their homes.

Most of these knights were sent to the fringes, where they were forced to start anew with only despair for company.

Edgar also seems to parallel the Hero of Morne. Grafted Blade Greatsword description:

The storied sword of Castle Morne. A revenger's weapon, it is burdened with oceans of anger and regret.

A lone surviving champion from a country now vanished was so determined to continue fighting that he claimed the swords of an entire clan of warriors.

When I first saw your ask, I though that Hyetta/Irina might have been patient zero. But taking all this together, I have a different proposal. I think the Hero of Morne might have fallen to Frenzy.

From the Sword Monument outside Castle Morne:

The siege of Castle Morne A lone hero fights for his vengeance Only to fall at the hand of Lord Godfrey.

The sole survivor of another of the Golden Order's genocides, the Hero would have been a prime candidate to fall to despair, and thus to Frenzy. The use of the archaic word "revenger" in the Grafted Blade Greatsword's description seems to be drawing a deliberate parallel to Edgar, who meets his end in the Revenger's Shack.

Like Vyke, the Hero might have sought out the FF in order to gain the power to save those he loved, only to despair when he lost them anyway. Or perhaps like Edgar, he succumbed to mindless hate after losing everyone he cared for, with no reason to go on beyond his vengeance. Due to its location just beyond Morne's walls, the Ailing Village could have easily been infected by the "fallout" from the Hero's final battle.

(One more note: when fought in the Lord Contender's Evergaol, Vyke uses the Storm Assault ash of war.

Storm Assault: One of the skills that channel the tempests of Stormveil. Leap forward through surrounding storm winds and thrust armament downward. The attack will produce more storm winds at the point of impact.

We already knew that Vyke was a member of the Dragon Cult, and thus one of Godwyn's knights. But this skill might also link him to Godfrey, the war against the Storm Lord, and the early conquest of Limgrave.

This is more a headcanon than a theory, but it would be a wonderful bit of narrative resonance if Vyke fought under Godfrey during the Siege of Morne and was there to witness the Hero's Frenzied last stand.)

Black Knife Assassin Tiche's ashes (upgraded obvs)

Tiche IS KEY because Malenia STEALS HEALTH WHEN SHE HITS YOU (ffs), and she hits you a LOT if you can't roll away fast enough.

The skill on Tiche's blade is Blade of Death. It reduces base health by a percentage, and then does continuous damage over time, so this helps counteract the health steal. This, plus hemorrhage added up a LOT so once I landed on that combination, I then had to figure out how to deal with that god awful attack Malenia does.

The Waterfowl Dance made me so Goddamn angry, but once I could light roll, I could dodge that attack and take zero damage. When she's poised in the air preparing to perform that attack, be ready to roll back four times and the first two flurries will miss you. Roll forward and then away and the last flurry will also miss you. Dodging her regular attacks was pretty straight forward.

I also went with Reduvia because one of my friends suggested it for Mohg, and I don't do well with close combat (it's not my preferred style tbh). I have the rivers of blood katana and Eleonora's pole blade, but they didn't hit right for me. Reduvia throws out a blood arc and it was pretty effective.

Honestly, a lot of my deaths happened because I took my eyes off Malenia for like half a second. She's fast, you have to time everything, though Tiche admittedly throws off Malenia's patterns, so she might only perform the Waterfowl Dance once, or it gets interrupted.

it's just so much trial and error to get through some of these bosses oh my God. Maybe this will help someone who is stuck on either of these bosses.

As for Mohg, it was the worst, but

Probably not everything, I may have had stars of ruin also, but i can't remember. Someone told me to just roll with bleed for Mohg, and i'm like, that makes NO SENSE, so I go to the wiki and wtf, he's weak to bleed damage. Like wtf, you're the LoRd Of BlOoD

After that things admittedly were a bit easier. The purifying crystal tear basically neuters Mohg's three ring curse bs. He'll still perform it, and he'll still gain health, but you won't take any damage from it. If you don't have the tear, drink a flask between the second and third nihil, though it's just easier to have the tear.

Mohg's Shackles pins him down briefly so you can wail on him, but it doesn't work in the second phase. Which...HE FLIES IN THE SECOND PHASE. WOULDN'T THAT MAKE MORE--

you know what, nevermind. God, FromSoft. ugh

Golden Vow for damage and defense buff, Swarm of Flies for bleed, Reduvia for bleed. Banished Knight Engvall because he's tanky, does standard tank damage, and he can stay alive for the entire battle.

I'm finding the Mimic Tear to be a bit overrated. It was perfect in like selia where I was having issues with the vanishing sorcerers, but I've found in boss battles, they focus the Mimic Tear too much and it dies too quickly.

Frustrating as this game is, I am actually enjoying it a lot. This is my first souls like, and the trial and error, figuring out patterns and timing etc is always weirdly rewarding for me. I also really like piecing together the lore through the item descriptions and youtube etc, it gives a lot of depth to the game and I like having an explanation for why I'm doing the seemingly random thing I'm doing.

That said, I get hyper fixated on one thing when my mental health is fighting with me, and tbh it could be worse

Anyway i'm done ranting, because frankly, every time I think I've seen the worst thing in Elden Ring, it proves me wrong

Equinox

I wrote this 2 and a half years ago and haven't touched it since, reading it makes me hurt inside. At this point I had only read ff net fics from the early 2010s I'm sorry

It was the monthly meeting of the magic trio, everything was in order. Romania was being the master of chaos he is, England was annoyed and Norway was just trying not to get cursed or hexed.

This time they were trying out the gender swap spell, they had been looking forward to it for a while and now that they had the chance to actually complete the spell they were excited, the equinox was upon them.so why the hell not. They had almost set it up, the pentacle was perfect, there were the right herbs and candles, all that needed to be done was the incantation when there was a loud knock on the door. A knock so loud, that it could be heard from all the way down in the basement.

The Englishman was obviously pissed off, so he went upstairs, along with the small bundle of chaos that is Romania to give whoever disturbed them a piece of his mind and received an unexpected surprise, the surprise that Denmark, Prussia and for some reason Hungary were there.

"Why are you here, we have things to be doing," England said, annoyed

"That's exactly why the awesome us are here, to stop you and Norway being such stick-in-the-muds."

"What in bloody hell about Romania then, he is the master of chaos so I don't think you need to do anything to him."

"We do not, but he is nearly as awesome as we are so he will have some fun with the awesome us."

"Romania is not awesome," Hungary said flatly

"Well, neither are you, frying pan," Romania said to Hungary

England yelled for Norway to come up and when the Norwegian came up grumbling and swearing and immediately put on a blank face as soon as he saw the other three.

"Why are you here?" He said rather exasperated "We were in the middle of something."

"Comeee on Norge, let us stay for a bit, we won't annoy you." Denmark did puppy dog eyes and he could tell that they worked on England by the way he looked away.

"Ja, we will just be here until you are done!" Prussia also attempted the puppy dog eyes, but failed miserably and looked like he would stab you in the stomach with a spork

"No, you guys will stay out until we are done, please and thank you," England said dismissively

"OH NO, YOU DON'T," Hungary said, she had her own agenda to be doing right now and she didn't need any more setbacks than they have already. "WE WILL COME IN AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP US."

The magic trio all swallowed and allowed them in, and explicitly told them not to annoy them. Obviously, Prussia and Denmark didn't listen and brought out some alcohol.

You see, this was all a ploy for Hungary to get blackmail material, Prussia and Denmark to get drunk as hell and for them to loosen up their uptight friends.

"Why do you have alcohol?" England asked, eyes narrowing.

"We were here to help you guys loosen up, but apparently you are too busy doing boring stuff to have fun with us!" Prussia said, pouting much like a child.

"Yes but why exactly, whenever you do something remotely nice, it usually means there is some sort of ulterior motive involved."

"I swear this time there isn't,you haven't hung out with us in a while and we want to make sure you are alright." Prussia said with utmost sincerity.

England and Norway were very good at not doing stupid things when people told them to (or so the others thought) so they went back down into the basement Both angrily mumbling something. Romania however stayed up and scrutinised the 3 and asked, "Really, why are you here?"

Gilbert and Mathias both actually wanted to help loosen up their rather uptight friends, and Vlad knew that, he was honestly more worried about Hungary. 

Because it was Hungary. Enough said.

So you asked him if you could accompanied him and he agreed

But something about it felt so wrong

"I'm staying. Takemitchy take good care of Emma, alright ?" you asked him

You were so wrong

And now you were regretting

How could you not have not seen this coming ?

You mixed them together and dipped your index finger in it to draw a ritual magic circle on your forehead, helping you with a mirror

When you successfully did it, you started to recite an incantation in a language Mikey and Draken didn't know

After some time, you drank half of the liquid and made her drink the rest

You chanted the incantation again, joining yours and Emma's hands, for at least fifteen minutes without stoping once

You felt her fingers stir and you almost stopped

It surprised you : it was actually working

So you kept on reciting until she opened her eyes

"Y/n ?" she whispered

"Yes, Emma. It's me," you started to cry again

"What is going on ?" she asked as she sat down

You helped her cover herself with the sheet and explained everything to her, Mikey and Draken joined you, they had heard Emma's voice

"Did you see anything ?" you asked after

"I don't remember," she said, "I only remember hearing your voice."

You left soon after, enough time had passed to prove you that she was now alive and healthy and wasn't going to die again

However you kept on ignoring all of Manjiro's texts and calls

So he went to your house the next day

"Y/n, Manjiro-kun is here to see you !" your mom called you

You nodded and you two went to a park nearby

He took your hands in his and said

"How could I ? You're amazing ! Also, I kinda knew already, you know ?"

"What do you mean ?" you chuckled

"Well when we're together you do things sometimes. Like with your eyes, I can see it. I don't know how to explain it but for example sometimes I catch you staring at someone and then boom something happen to them. So yeah I had my thoughts but I didn't dare to day anything because can you imagine the embarrassment if I were wrong ?"

You couldn't help the loud laugh coming out of your mouth

He joined you in your laugh and brought you closer to him to kiss you, both of you still smiling

That was how Manjiro was, he always knew how to make you feel better.

If this were true, then why does Minjee feel so threatened?!! If y/n really didn’t stand a chance, there wouldn’t be a need to warn y/n off of him. It can only lead me to believe that 🤮 knows Sunwoo likes y/n and is trying to scare off the competition. The thing is, there really isn’t any competition between them… 🤮 simply doesn’t stand a chance.

This part upset me more than anything she said!! She can try and take y/n’s man all she wants but… How dare she take y/n’s chips!!!

Sunwoo finding an apartment of his own isn’t a bad thing. It’ll give him space to work on himself and heal from his past. He can’t really do that with y/n around, she’s too much of a distraction lol. It’ll also give him time to figure out how he truly feels for y/n and whether he’s ready for a real, healthy relationship and can be the man that y/n deserves.

I really like that he didn’t say anything about hearing her playtime activities or about hearing how she feels about him. Again, he’s looking out for her. He’s saving her from being the first ever recorded case of someone literally dying from embarrassment while the ground swallows them whole lol. I have no doubt, once they finally get together, he’ll tease her about it tho 😂
