this is apropos of absolutely nothing, but the one thing that always gets me when watching the phantom menace is when palpatine says something to the effect of "you will not find controlling [padmé] to be difficult", bc

besides the fact that he must've spent longer than ten minutes in a room with her at some point, padmé's also.....fourteen? you know, an age historically when children love obedience and being told what to do
