70 #46, Alliance #28, Priest #4. I'd fallen out of love with my void elf (I seem to never feel neutral about rogues, I either enjoy them a lot or think they're incredibly tedious) and wanted to get rid of her, but I also want to keep at least one of everything around Just In Case. While searching for names that weren't taken on various servers, I came across Ursula on two of them, and chose to roll her on Onyxia despite already having a priest there. It also covers U names (as I also want at least one of every letter) in case my gnome priest Uma gets the boot at some point.
Vandelyn (previously Sylenna, the aforementioned VE rogue) always felt really stifled on mog choices, but for some reason there's a lot more cloth I like on BE/VE than there is leather. A bit of a shame because the female BE/VE idle stealth animation is one of my favourites, but I suppose I could always get on one of the cloud or carpet mounts if I really want to go back :P
#xellafail#world of warcraft#alts are hard#the mog thing was one of the major reasons the rogue was going out the door#the fact that I swapped servers and thus had to swap names also didn't help#Vandelyn just never really sat right but Sylenna was taken :(#anyway I'm done with non-bones of mannoroth bronze purchases#so this will likely be my last TR#bc one of the major things that kept me interested in remix leveling was the multitasking#mop's dungeon spread is also a lot nicer than other expacs#but mop timewalking is like next weekish? so

The story of Carter Zellan is the oldest in all my writing, as origionally I just wanted lore behind an online character I could use as a persona. Seeing how all of that has changed and evolved with time has been a wonderful experience. Does that mean no matter how far it goes Carter will be tainted with self insert vibes? yeah probably, but I think it'll be okay if I'm a tad unashamed.
One thing I really love, is how End has developed. Origionally, he was just a vague antagonistic force in Carter's backstory to explain going from life as god to nearly powerless in an unknown world, an undefined "man in red". Hell, in that first iteration the intercosmic sea was just excess space between universes, rather than the whole of existence.
From there, End's next development got planted by the ballad of dawn, origionally lore for a character I was playing in a friend's minecraft server. Dawn didn't even have a name until near the end of her lore. It was there that I actually started thinking about things fundamental to existing, and having modded minecraft materials helped me add a smidge of color association. You can blame that for beginning being green and love being blue, though knowing me I would've made love blue regardless.
It was revisiting the idea of Carter's story that I realized I wanted to expand out, and the intercosmic sea, the idea of existential fundamentals, and the man in red I had floating around were perfect for that. So I made the concepts, and End no longer had villain status. But in early development, calling it development is being too generous. Knowing what I wanted in a general sense for Eternity to look and act like, and the idea of Soul liking jazz music put them ahead of all the others.
also a fun fact of that point: soul was purple, before i started second guessing, and there were 7 concepts instead of 6. the last one was humanity, but I had a difficult time reconciling them as their own thing and not just a mix of Soul and Love. Humanity ended up in the recycling bin and Soul got a palette swap not long before the next part of development.
The story of when End loves was pretty big in End's development. See, cause I had an established idea of the colors each concept was associated with, and Time was pink, I couldn't shake having noticed that pink as a color is considered as either a shade of red or red diluted with white. There was no shot of Time being the daughter of End and Eternity purely because Eternity is... childlike... like, acts like a kid, regards the other concepts as older siblings despite being the first, and made herself look like a child, small and all. But the Idea that Time wasn't part of the beginning fascinated me, and End isn't childlike at all, and he has the means. I put myself hard at work and was very pleased in the results.
And thus began End's journey to be the sad softboy I so dearly love.
I had established two things about End in that story. The first was that he cares about others. That's like, the whole premise. The other is that he felt the need to justify his own existence, that he promises he isn't bad. This combined into softboy End, who felt bad about things ending, about the unfortunate downsides of his place in existence.
In between transcribing the lore I had for Carter, making alterations to fit things I had changed or newly established, and crying from being depressed by my own writing as I'm being reminded, I realized what this all meant for Carter's story. The man in red sending Carter away was no longer some prank or nefarious plot, it was an act of love and kindness, End trying to help them and holding onto an apology and explanation until it was all said and done.
That whole journey was a few years ago(I don't remember how many but I think 3) and I'm proud of myself for how far I've come. And that I no longer get depressed and cry reading things I wrote myself.

By my best hypothetical guess, the lair could have been constructed sometime before the Pet War. This is based on the three "attachments" housed in the lair already; Beckerson, Henry, and Friend, namely Beckerson and Henry. Beckerson and Mars were returned to Dream by Niki after Sapnap apologized for killing her fox. Mars was given back to Sapnap but Dream could've kept Beckerson. Dream hinted that he swapped Henry out with a decpy cow that Sapnap then kidnapped and got killed. Friend was obtained when Friend respawned after Ghostbur accidentally axed him and Dream easily switched the real deal out with a decoy that got blown up during Doomsday.
It could also have been built shortly after Dream's hobit cave got griefed and destroyed, which I think was before the Pet War (I am unsure on this) thus Dream wouldn't have been lying when he told Techno he had a house but it was far away.
Also ironically enough, Dream being in possession of the three pets did spare them, temporarily, from their deaths.
Those are just my thoughts on it. So if it does happen to be correct, Dream did in fact have so many opportunities to take Carl and other attachments yet he didn't.
oh interesting!
i honestly haven't put much thought into it myself. i can't really tell you why i haven't but i suppose the actual timeline of the vault just hasn't come up in my mind so i really appreciate the thoughts!
overall, though, yeah, i do think c!dream had at least one very clear chance to take carl but he's smart enough to realize that c!techno is more valuable on his side than not.
honestly, my bet is on dream having built the vault before techno's execution and he did consider taking carl but the execution presented him with a better opportunity and that was to help techno.
dream says it himself on doomsday: he's one of the only people on the server who hasn't betrayed techno and he knows this is important to techno. it's just the best option for him and i think it's paid off in the long run.
