On the topic of people with whom hamilton had.. interesting relationships with, do you think him and bobby troup had something going on in college
hey anon! i'm going to be a spoilsport and say that i don't think there's enough for me to suspect anything between them. but the flip side to "we don't know enough :(" is "we don't know enough ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)". they could've been going through the girls-kissing-for-fun-at-sleepover experience as roommates and we'd have no idea, would we?
but what i do know is that they had a life-long, deep relationship that survived a war and all the interpersonal hurdles that comes along with their new york circle being 10 people in a trenchcoat. undergrad roommates at king's college, similar orphan-background. they formed a debating club together, and troup probably saw hamilton's political thoughts on the british-american conflict mature firsthand. later, he had thoughts on philip, on hamilton's financial situation, on how much hamilton charged his clients - he was very intimate and close with the hamilton family at large.
there is recent speculation on whether or not troup "losing" hamilton's youthful poetry that he had been gifted might suggest that the poetry had suggestive material, à la laurens letters. but i don't know why troup would have even brought it up if he had destroyed or tampered the poetry. it seems more likely that he genuinely lost track of the papers and regretted losing them.
i do find it superbly interesting that troup was close to burr as well as hamilton, although i've heard conflicting things on the period and overlap of the friendships, and how troup felt about burr after the duel. there is a very dramatic theory that troup might have been involved with both hamilton and burr.
two of my favorite anecdotes are about them fussing over each other.
troup giving ham updates to rufus king in his 1802 letter, where he goes "Hamilton is closely pursuing the law, and I have at length succeeded in making him somewhat mercenary. I have known him latterly to dun his clients for money, and in settling an account with me the other day, he reminded me that I had received a fee for him in settling a question referred to him and me jointly. These indications of regard to property give me hopes that we shall not be obliged to raise a subscription to pay for his funeral expenses."
i love it because it's so very clearly a close friend fond and amused, you know? "he reminded me that i owe him his fee! the progress!"
2. the fact that troup was the last visit ham made before the duel, and it was him being a mom friend again? troup himself was very sick, and he later recounted that ham showed up and basically gave health advice with such cheerfulness that troup had no idea what was about to happen the next day. it's so very tragic.
"But the whole tenor of the General’s deportment, during the visit, manifested such composure, and cheerfulness of mind, as to leave me without an suspicion of the rencontre that was descending."
tldr: at the very least, a decades long friendship between two people that seemed to have complimentary personalities - the calm to hamilton's storm, in some ways. one of ham's steadfast friends who contributed greatly to the subscription for hamilton's funeral and support for his family. was there more? youthful experimentation, perhaps? let's bring them back and ask.

ooooo i'd love to hear more about the 36 questions ronance !! i love soft and fluffy ronance <33
(also that atlantis is a movie snippet i am LOSING MY MIND!!! incredible!!)
hey!! sorry for taking so long, i decided that i wanted to actually flesh out my fic idea and send you an excerpt instead of the vague plot ideas i had jotted down. anyway, here is the first sneak peek at my 36 questions ronance fic :)
Their apartment was filled with silence as Robin settled back onto the couch and grabbed the next book off the stack that seemed to always clutter their living room floor. The title was written in some romance language, but that didn’t tell Nancy anything about its contents. Robin worked her bottom lip between her teeth the way she always did when she read something in another language. In a desperate attempt to stop herself from staring, Nancy started to clear off the coffee table for their dinner. Robin’s papers had scattered when she had tossed them aside and Nancy was able to catch the title of the study that had fascinated her roommate. “The Experimental Generation of Interpersonal Closeness: A Procedure and Some Preliminary Findings.” Interpersonal Closeness. Nancy’s thoughts wandered back to Robin and how much of her was still a mystery. Nancy had watched her throw a molotov cocktail at an interdimensional serial killer, but wouldn’t have guessed Robin’s favorite color was a very light orange if she hadn’t told her. She knew Robin’s deepest fears and the small quirks one absorbs when living with someone else, but didn’t know if she was born in Hawkins or had been dragged into the town by her parents. Not for the first time, the need to know everything there was to know about Robin Buckley burned somewhere in Nancy’s chest.
(also i am so glad you liked the aiam snippet!! i'm slowly making progress there lol)

Wooo boy, I'll throw all of these in together! /lh
Dogwood is far more observant of his surroundings than his lighthearted personality lets on - I'm very sure that at least part of this lightheartedness is just his genuine personality, but I feel like it might help him blend in to some extent as well, making him seem more trustworthy of keeping small secrets in the long run.
Blackbird's changing between she/her and he/him pronouns is at least partially due to seeing her past as Tiebreaker and before vs now as different people. Tiebreaker and before is usually she, Blackbird is more he. Maybe they are, in some way, different personas or different versions of the same person, or maybe they are entirely different people all together.
Green has trust issues of some sort and tends to feel left out amongst the trio fairly easily, even if Blackbird and Dogwood don't mean for it to happen. It might relate all the way back to the fact that she was the last to join the relationship, while the other two knew another for a pretty long time beforehand?
While Experimenter was in human containment in the past, he did work for the Foundation during this time, though I don't think he knew what exactly he was doing, or at least not the full extent of it and what his work would lead to. By the time he realized, possibly only around the time he got promoted to O5, it was already too late and he was in too deep. I also have some thoughts on why Mathieu wouldn't be willing to put in any efforts towards interpersonal relationships around this time, though I'm not too sure on what to make of those so far. I think that it is likely related to the work he did for the Foundation and/or the way he was contained, though.
OOC Answer: You’re exactly right with Dogwood! A lot of his personality is honestly pretty lighthearted but there’s also a pretty big reason why he’s in charge of security!
You’re also very close to being right about Blackbird! She uses she/her when referring to anything from before she became Blackbird (very rarely they/them as well) For the present, he uses mostly he/him and it/it’s but also uses she/her during times of having issues with his mental health (such as when he was changed by SCP-113!) Overall, I consider them all to be different personas of the same person with there not quite being a decisive ‘main person’ behind all the personas!
You’re exactly correct with Green! She noticed that Blackbird and Dogwood were rather quick to get together and often feels as if she is being excluded which — to be honest — is not entirely inaccurate in some instances. It’s honestly an issue that Blackbird and Dogwood have not noticed as being an issue until recently. Of course, Green also occasionally struggles to communicate these things with them out of her own frustrations so it is unfortunately a bit of a struggle all-around.
For Experimenter, the first part isn’t entirely accurate but it is close. He did not consider himself to be in too deep, but he did reach a point where he saw the chance to do some good in a place that seemed to be really lacking some good. That’s also part of why he didn’t put in lots of effort to making friends with his colleagues! He generally started out believing that A.) they made a mistake making him an overseer and talking to them would just show them that fact and B.) he generally just didn’t like the Foundation and thought they were all horrible. His opinions have changed a lot but he still occasionally have moments where he questions himself even now!

Duke opened the envelope and spread the contents out.
A wedding ring, with a yellow-gold band with a pear-shaped ruby in the center.
A bundle of documents, forgeries that held a record of 15 years of lies.
And a scientific paper “The Experimental Generation of Interpersonal Closeness: A Procedure and Some Preliminary Findings.”
“I thought it would be… poetic?” Duke said suddenly regretting everything. This was such a stupid idea, a desperate plea to save this relationship he’d come up with at 4am. “It’s how we first met after all. With a bit more truth this time.”
“I like it,” she said, giving him a reassuring smile as if she could read his thoughts. Wait…could she do that?
“It’s clear on your face,” she winked. “I don’t need any magic to tell that. But first,” she reached for the bundle of papers, pulling the rubber band off and spreading them out. “We need to say goodbye.”
“Goodbye?” Duke asked, anxiously.
“To Holloway,” she explained. “She is dead after all.” The woman who should not be alive picked out a death certificate.
Under her touch the edges lit on fire, the material falling apart until only a pile of ash remained.
“No!” Duke exclaimed on instinct, reaching for the cinders but she caught his hand.
“Careful, it’s hot.”
“But-- but--” Duke struggled to put thoughts to words. “But that’s all that’s left of you. The only proof you're real.”
“Well, I’m here right in front of ya, aren’t I? Isn’t that proof enough?”
Duke didn’t have an answer to that. He let his hand fall limp as she gently pushed it away from the ashes. “Why did Holloway exist in the first place?” He finally said.
She took her time to answer. “It’s complicated,” she settled on. “The person who I was before all this… she wasn’t very good, Duke. I’d made a lot of mistakes, my list of sins was more than enough to earn me a ticket to hell. But Holloway… She didn’t have any of that. She got to put the past behind her. She got to live a simple life, run a diner in a middle of nowhere town, serve fries and milkshakes, hear the latest gossip, and meet someone who changed her life,” she smiled at Duke.
“But that’s gone now. I can only run from my past for so long. Miss Holloway wasn’t the first fake identity, and she won’t be the last.” She picked up another paper. The deed to the land Miss Retro’s once stood on.
“There’s no use in holding onto it anymore. This is closure, isn’t that what you're here for?”
“It is…” Duke watched as more flames consumed the paper. The fire didn’t have a source, it simply sprung from her hands. Another mystery about the woman before him.
“Goodbye, Miss Holloway,” he whispered to himself.
“Goodbye, echoed the woman they were burning.
The flames spread, leaving a trail of destruction behind them. Yet the fire never touched the wooden table, or the 36 questions.
“So,” she said. “Shall we start?”
“Before that,” Duke interrupted. “What’s your name? Your real name?”
“You’ll laugh,” she claimed, a smile tugging at her lips.
“Tell me anyways,” he asked.
“It’s Holly-May.”
“Holly-May?” He repeated. “Really creative with your aliases huh?” He teased.
She shrugged. “Made them easier to remember. It’s hard to keep track of so many different names.”
“How many identities have you had?” He asked, incredulously.
“Thirteen,” she replied easily. “Not counting the me before everything happened and whoever I am now.”
Before Duke could ask another question she held up her hand. “My turn. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?”
So they were starting. Duke shifted in his seat, delaying the inevitable. He already knew his answer after all.
“You.”
“Which me,” she asked, pointedly.
“You,” he said again. “You're not as different as you think you are.”
Holly blushed. “I have to disagree, but--”
“No, really,” Duke insisted. “You claim Holloway is dead, but I see her right in front of me. It doesn’t matter what name you're going by, you're still you. You're still the woman I love.”
“I--Thank you, Duke.” She settled on. “It means a lot.” She took half a second to muster herself before her lighthearted tone returned. “This is exactly why I’d invite you to dinner.”
“Speaking of dinner,” she added, as an afterthought. “I’ve been a terrible host. Hold on.”
The witch snapped her fingers and a white tablecloth appeared before them. The pile of ash disappeared, and a candle lit itself. Two glasses of wine manifested and a bottle poured itself all on its own.
“Well this would’ve made running a restaurant easy,” he joked.
“Indeed. Maybe my next place can be magic themed.”
“You’d change your aesthetic?” Duke gasped in mock horror. “Now that would really mean the death of Miss Holloway.”
She chuckled. “That it would. But I’d say this is much fancier than our first date.”
“The setting doesn’t matter,” Duke reassured her. “As long as I’m with you.”
“Stop being so sappy,” she muttered, her accent thickening with her embarrassment. “It’s your turn.”
“Very well, Miss.” He reached for the paper and read out the next question. “Would you like to be famous? In what way?”
Holloweane 36 questions AU.

Gonna pick 2 random headcanons from my "research document" for each race (minus humans because of obvious reasons) and try to keep it as not-rambly as possible.
Asura - In the safety of their underground cities in pre-surfacing times, there was a fairly widespread belief that the "as the Eternal Alchemy intended" way to die for a true genius was of old age, in their lab and with a healthy body only ruined by late nights and wrong posture, possibly surrounded by unfinished inventions that no one else could ever complete. Due to this belief, there was a strong cultural prejudice towards those with evident scars and lasting physical injuries that were compatible with combat or manual labor, as it was considered a sign that they had at some point refused intellectual pursuit to do something "lesser", even if the individual was a genius in their own right or when the same kind of injuries could be obtained in common lab accidents. In spite of the elitist scorn from the higher rank of geniuses, most of the asuran community didn't really care and considered it a normal thing, instead focusing on finding new ways to fix or cover up all sorts of physical damages and conditions, as well as replacing missing parts with prosthetics. While results and intentions varied a lot, medical procedures and prosthetic tech got more and more impressive over centuries (also due to ambient magic levels increasing over time), leading to asura being second to none in accessorized magi-medical tech (and still are in spite of their long-lost knowledge). Since reaching the surface, such stereotypical notion quickly faded out as their escape from the depths and surviving in a new hostile world drastically increased the number of scars and injuries among the population, and only the more traditional, academically single-minded, closed-minded population in Rata Sum still vehemently believes in it. After being exposed to other races' cultures and as a final pushback to what's left of those traditional ideas, intentional physical modifications such as earrings, piercings and tattoos are now fancied by many and considered normal within a certain range, while physical scarring of any kind is seen as positively intriguing due to the stories of potential discoveries tied to it, almost reversing that old belief (if not for the Inquest pushing it to uncomfortable extremes with experimentation).
- Ears are not only seen as a symbol of attractiveness, but also as an important tool of communication with a nuanced and intricate language of its own, especially in interpersonal relationships. Excessive ear movement is seen as immature or impudent, complete ear inexpressiveness is usually seen as sketchy and secretive, and important damage or loss of one's ears has an impact similar to not being able of giving the intended tone to your words. Due to it and asuran general aversion to sudden and public physical interactions, touching someone else's ears can either be a sign of physical affection, provocative teasing or disrespect depending on the situation. Affectionate interactions between family, lovers and close friends are often centered around the ears as well as face, hair and especially forehead. For example, ear-to-ear contact is roughly equivalent to a kiss on the cheek for asura, and due to the positioning on their head, accidental touching of such kind is not uncommon while working in close proximity and often leads to hilarity and awkwardness.
Charr - Their concept of adulthood and maturity is not tied to age, but to being a war-ready soldier, so charr are considered adults from the moment they graduate from the fahrar with their warband, which happens after sufficiently proving themselves in the field or their duty of choice. While that generally happens between 15 and 18 years of age, charr younger than 16 are still not considered fully-fledged adults and are rarely allowed to go to the frontlines or join more dangerous operations. This contradiction tends to anger many of those precocious teenagers who think themselves ready for anything, not realizing that's also a final test to check whether they're truly ready [Note: charr are the ones who can reach "legal adulthood" first, followed by norn at 16-18 yo (when they prove themselves), and then at predetermined ages come asura at 17 yo and humans at 18 yo]
- Spike growths are recessive traits in charr and they can show up on most of the body in both sexes, though they're usually more prevalent and evident in males due to genetic and hormonal reasons. Primordially used for combat and courtship, Flame Legion shaman established them as a symbol of power and virility, often enhancing their natural growth with magic and filing down females' spikes to further that stereotype. Nowadays those traits faded out of the genetic pool of the Legions due to their negative association with the shaman caste, and they're still heavily present only within the Flame Legion. Those who do have body spikes generally keep them filed down so as not to interfere with armor or deal with those more vocal about their dislike of such characteristics, while facial spikes are still considered an attractive quality.
Norn - "Hunting dates" (closest translation from norn's language to Tyrian language) are a traditional ritual that is often seen as a sign of fairly serious romantic intentions, especially for young norn. Traditionally, the pair will meet with the shamans of their Spirit guardians to perform a ritual and receive their blessing, then set off to track down the first worthy prey that crosses their path. A successful hunt is a good omen for the pair, and their prey may carry different meanings depending on its might and the spirits of the wild of the couple, while bad hunts or injuries are not necessarily presage of a doomed relationship, just a sign that they're not yet ready in some way. A similar ritual is done by couples intending to have a child, in which case the results indicate what's to come in their future.
- Few norn live in a single place for most of their lives, usually only settling when they reach old age, are forced to do so due to injuries or intend to set up shop permanently. Due to the fact that most norn cycle in and out of lodges, homesteads and outposts for most of the year, only stopping for longer during the harsher months, all norn dwellings larger than a tent are built and organized to house a varying number of individuals.
Sylvari - It is possible for a sylvari to change their appearance almost completely (including transitioning, as the Pale Tree's guesses aren't infallible) and to do so willingly, though it happens gradually over time. While trauma, stress and aging usually make the process harder and slower even when intentional, it can also happen that impactful events or prolonged situations might trigger physical changes that reflect their inner state, both negatively and positively. Such changes are seen as a natural part of life, no matter how drastic they are, yet few sylvari ever really tried to alter their bodies in more "non-humanoid" ways, and even less have done so after what happened in the Heart of Maguuma.
- Their pollen is actually similar to sweat in function, expelling excesses and unneeded substances from their body. While it's not allergenic itself, individuals of other races that have dust and pollen allergies might still have some issues with it, so sylvari living in close quarters with those individuals learned to be mindful of it and clean up after themselves in shared spaces.
you. share with me your headcanons about each of the races’ cultures. go now
#I picked only what I considered “cultural” in that 20-pages document. but I got a lot more to ramble about (especially on asura and charr)#why do I have this much? cuz I worked a lot of this into stories and I needed a way to track my headcanons for consistency lol#ancient asura were not even ableist; just the intellectual cave-dwellin equivalent of “my skin is pale because I never worked in the fields#some snobby fart cusses you out for being scarred and wearing prosthetics and then proceeds to ask you how it works and provide feedback#nowadays it's mostly normal to have small mods but major ones are now associated with Inquest experimentation so few non-Inquest get them#also no I'm not obsessed with the asuran ear thing and it's not the cutest thing ever#reblog games#gw2 headcanons#gw2 lore rambling#asura#sylvari#norn#charr

I am so intrigued by all of your wips but I have to know what is "36 ?s"
hehehe thank you for opening this can of worms :)
so in the 90s (it technically doesn't fit w the ST timeline but i'm fudging it bc i can) there was this study called the Experimental Generation of Interpersonal Closeness which was basically a scientific set of 36 questions that would make you fall in love with whoever you were asking the questions to (or at least feel super close and comfortable w them)
there was a musical podcast abt it which is how i was introduced to the concept, but i absolutely adore the study and find it so interesting
in this fic, Nancy and Robin are college roommates and Nancy finds this study and decides that she wants to know her new roommate better, so she starts to ask Robin these questions. they fall in love <3
i've posted some snippets of it, if you're interested!

#36 questions#36 questions musical#ok now ive gotten those tags out of the way heres the part where i ramble for a little while#so the whole 36 questions thing just seems super neat and idk if like it legitimately works or if it doesnt or if its maybe just placebo#but it just seems super cool if youre reading this and you dont know what the experimental generator on interpersonal closeness#(the 36 questions) is#its these 36 questions (duh) and basically the thing is that apparently if you and another person answer all of the questions together#even if you were previously strangers#youll fall in love#but yeah it just seems really interesting and id love to try it sometime (out of curiosity to see if its legit or just loneliness idk)#but the thing is that i like cant? at least currently#i mean the obvious choice would be to do the 36 questions with my gf#(who i have fallen out of love with but am kind of stuck in a relationship with)#but the thing is that idek if i want to fall back in love with her anymore#like shes a cool person and all but i feel like we would be better off as friends#and of course the only other person i can think of to do the 36 questions with would be#the boy that i cant tell whether i have a squish or a crush on#but then it would be just forcing that answer one of the ways and idk i feel like i should try to figure out this problem without forcing it#also it would just be weird to just be like hey wanna do this thing that might make us fall in love with each other to someone youve only#really ever talked to one time and not even in person just a very brief interaction messaging on instagram#also that would straight up be fucking cheating on my gf and even tho i dont like her like that im still in a relationship#and i really dont want to hurt her (hence me being stuck)#just me rambling again#real fan blog shit

im gonna make another list for fanvids and possibly do one for tumblr (art/drabbles) stuff? havent decided. but these are some ao3 fics i love (im gonna try and @ peoples tumblr handles if theyre listed on the fic but if you see your fic here and youre not tagged... my deepest apologies)
Better Strangers (E) nastea, ToAStranger
After his recent rise to fame as front-man of the rock band, Mindflayer, Billy Hargrove has all the money, cars, and drugs he could ever dream of.
But stardom and addiction have changed something inside of him. They’ve turned him upside down.
And Steve can’t keep waiting for the Billy he knew to come back.
Definitely Something (M) @kingsandsaints
The Harringrove College AU that no one asked for. It’s the winter of 1987, when Steve’s roommate’s girlfriend shows him a piece of research from one of her professors, a social experiment of 36 questions that could supposedly make any two people fall in love. Even if those people hate each other's guts.
- Inspired by The Experimental Generation of Interpersonal Closeness by Arthur Aron et. al. -
Werewolf Gimmick (NR) Ludovico_is_my_homeboy
“Reason number two to protect your neck…” Billy murmurs as his mouth drifts lower and lower, down to Steve's jugular. “…Is because an enemy could just…” He presses his teeth against vulnerable skin. He can feel Steve’s pulse pick up, can smell the adrenaline in his bloodstream. “…Rip out your throat.”
Or
Steve and Dustin become werewolves, Billy finds his mate, and the Party fights a big ol' monster.
Cherry (E) @lazybakerart
They’ve got ten minutes before Steve’s break is up and he has to go back to wishing for death with a smile.
Dreaming of Another Place (T) anditwasallpink
The first time Steve mentions going to prom, Billy laughs.
Boldly Go (M) prettyboyporter
First, Steve finds Billy -- steps up to his side before looking up to see the assignment. Billy smiles and nods upward.
Hargrove, William. Engineering. USS Hawk.
Harrington, Steven. Security. USS Hawk.
Steve clamps his hand on Billy’s shoulder. “It’s a galaxy class ship. Maybe it’s big enough to hold your ego?”
“Not sure it’s big enough for all of that hair, pretty boy. Sorry. Ensign Pretty Boy.”
A Star Trek AU for harringrove where Steve and Billy shake away the ghosts of their parents to explore, seek, and boldly go.
Here, Now (T) EveryoneHasAmnesia
Why would anyone leave California to move to Hawkins, Indiana? Billy has a lot of answers. One of them just might be true.
and maybe you'll find a way to keep me a floating when i can't (M) @lazybakerart
Billie’s tough. Nothing but sharp edges with sharper teeth. She’s all bark and all bite.
Steph’s fought monsters. She may have had her nose ground into a linoleum floor by Billie, but she’s not scared of her.
i’m no maid marian and you’re no robin hood (G) @lazybakerart
Billy snaps his fingers and says, “Prince Harrington, prettier than any princess in all the kingdoms.”
Take a Good Look You're Bound to See (that you and me were meant to be) (T) Anonymous
Billy adopts a dog. Steve really, really likes the dog.
And maybe - just maybe - he really really likes Billy, too.
Firestarter (NR) Ludovico_is_my_homeboy
He has completed his mission.
Now, Six sits alone in a small room in Hawkins Lab and waits for his handlers to give him his friend back.
Experiment!AU
break up with your girlfriend ('cause i'm bored) (E) @the-copperkid
@umissedconnections: Bambi eyes. m4m. i was rippin cigs in the sae p-lot. u made urself puke 2 make room 4 more beer. incredible? ur my hero PLS say ur into guys
* Steve finds he has a secret admirer who's continuously hitting on him via his university's Missed Connections Twitter account. // Tommy and Billy are the worst roommates ever.
the ongoing trials of two idiots in love (E) @gothyringwald, socknonny
Five times they fucked up Valentine's Day and one time they got it right.
I’ll fall for you soon enough, I resolve to love (M) @lazybakerart
Billy is ignoring Steve, Steve is trying to find his footing with Billy, and a demodog needs to be buried.
meet me in the woods tonight (E) @brawlite @toast-ranger-to-a-stranger
There’s something in the woods of Hawkins, Indiana.
go west, young man (E) @gothyringwald
Steve and Billy move to California after graduation. They decide to take their time getting there, driving across the country in Billy's Camaro. Along the way, they learn a thing or two about growing up, friendship, love, and each other.
Under the Covers (M) ToAStranger
Steve is (maybe) a little bit still in love with Nancy Wheeler and (maybe) trying to figure himself out-- between the night terrors and the babysitting and the general weirdness that is Hawkins, Indiana-- before he graduates.
Billy Hargrove fits in there somewhere (probably).
wicked little town (E) @gothyringwald
The summer after graduation stretches before Steve, seemingly endless and utterly empty. He can't remember ever being this bored in his life. But when he runs into Billy one night, after hearing a rumour about him at a party, it feels like summer might not be so boring after all.
in the darkness i will meet my creators (T) @wndasmaximoffs
"What's wrong?" Jane mumbles.
"I need you to take me to him."
[or, the fucking fix-it for s3]
what a wicked game you played (to make me feel this way) (E) brawls (brawlite), ToAStranger
Billy knew Steve Harrington would ruin him. Steve knew Billy Hargrove was nothing but trouble.
They never expected it to end up like this.
the skater and the rich boy (T) @gothyringwald
It's the summer of 1977 and the drought in California is in full force. Lawns go unwatered and swimming pools sit forlorn and empty. Around Venice and Santa Monica, skaters take advantage of the empty pools, breaking into backyards to skate like no one has before.
When Billy Hargrove—a skater who splits his time between his job at a surf shop and skating with his sister, Max—breaks into Steve Harrington's backyard, it might turn out to be the best thing he’s ever done.
I’m a Rebel Just for Kicks (T) stellewrites
Steve couldn't believe he was having to spend his Saturday with his ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend, his friend-turned-pain-in-the-ass, and Billy fucking Hargrove. Steve couldn't think of a group of people he'd like to spend less time with than them.
Hopefully, the next six hours won't be too bad.

for the anon who sent the ask about the last chapter, have another snippet
“Um, so I know it’s date night,” Luke starts, “but I wanted to do something.. different.”
Carlos’ chest tightens. “Different?“
“Yeah,“ Luke says with a smile, reaching into his pocket.
Please, don’t propose. Please, don’t propose.
“Here,“ he says, holding out a stack of papers.
“What is —“ He doesn’t need the answer.
“It’s a science experiment,“ Luke explains anyway. “It’s supposed to help two people become closer. You take turns asking each other questions. There’s —“
“36?”
Luke shrugs awkwardly. “Yeah, I know it’s kind of a lot but I thought it could be fun?“ Carlos pauses and looks at the title again.
The Experimental Generation of Interpersonal Closeness.
“Yeah,“ he says stiffly. “Could be fun.”
Carlos reads first. And he’s honest— of course, he’s honest. Mostly.
“Question eleven,” Luke repeats back to him. “Take four minutes and tell your partner your life story in as much detail as possible.”
That one makes Carlos freeze.
“I- We can probably skip this one, right?” Luke raises an eyebrow and Carlos shrugs. “I mean, we’ve known each other since high school.”
“Yeah, but there were a few years where we didn’t talk,” Luke reasons. “So what’d you do during that time?”
I was married and having the time of my life.
He takes a breath. “Well, after high school, I went to the APD, I’ve been there ever since, got married, then divorced, moved to Dallas for like six months, came back. Then we reconnected.”
When he looks up, Luke is shaking his head. “You were married— you’re divorced?”
Carlos shifts. “Yeah, turns out we got married too quickly,” he says simply (and if it's a lie, Luke doesn’t need to know). “I actually did the questions with him.”
“Did they work?”
Twice.
“A few did.”
There’s a heavy silence that stretches across the seconds.
“Do you still love him?” Luke asks in his typical non confrontational way.
