well she’s pretty like, indifferent. towards it? he doesn’t know why they don’t like him, only that some of the shit he does pisses them off sometimes (ex: when naiya was crying and they just stood there). it only pisses them off when the echoes will go against an order or some shit mid-battle and he can’t stop them
OO hm. actually i think fighter is exactly what they wanna be. the only other thing would be a paladin maybe, but to her following orders is what she’s good at, and being a fighter allows him to fight like they want her to. though honestly his biggest concern is getting the job done quickly and correctly, so what she wants to be entirely revolves around what their superior wants them to be
what on earth does "a half elf echo knight fighter" mean /lh /genq
HI!!! good lord i need to put a comma in there jdndnd
they’re a half elf, and they’re a fighter. her fighter archetype/subclass is Echo Knight. basically it’s just using “echoes” or “shadows” of himself to fight in battle. the playbook describes it as “using dunamis to summon the fading shades of unrealized timelines to aid them in battle”. no fucking idea was dunamis is but!!! that’s the idea behind it :]
#my girl using double team from pokemon real#<- snndndndn ive never played pokemon but god do i believe you#oc: rue#the echoes hate her because to them this is like a hollow shitty version of themselves <3#so they fight to protect while rue fights to follow orders#love making characters with no personhood tbh it’s so fun. I should do it more#tysm for asking btw wahhh <333 love you forever and ever

" Our version of living feels more like death. " (deep in their dark vortex at that point!)
POETRY STARTERS FROM THE FIRST 70 PAGES OF “WHISKEY WORDS & A SHOVEL” BY R.H. SIN || O P E N
Rosa didn’t know e x a c t l y how terrible she looked, but day after day with Lucas Crain and she could feel herself wearing down more and more. Her high cheekbones had begun to hollow out more than they ever had been before, black circles under her now darkened, empty eyes. She shivered, shuddering uncontrollably as her bones ached all way down to the marrow and joints, stiff and sore. The bruises and track marks trailing down her veins were hidden underneath one of Luke’s sweaters she drowned herself in for a false sense of security and comfort. Her was hair mussed and sticking to her clammy forehead with sweat.
And he was right.
The only time she felt she could breathe again anymore was with the tar-like substance flooding her veins, the needle buried in her arm. Being caught in a semiconscious dreamlike state was something she no longer wanted to fight against, her dead and dry limbs finally relaxing against the shitty spring beds again. Parking lots turned to graveyards and streets were frozen still - a locked motel room seeming to exist separately from the rest of the world.
The daylight running through the floral curtains burned into her, too hot and bright against her pasty skin. It was only the coldness of the night that made her feel awake, rolling around in the sheets in the witching hour with orange streetlights noisly buzzing overhead kept their naked bodies company.
But that sense of euphoria never lasted long enough anymore ( too short, too weak. )
" I know... " Rosa squeaked out admittedly, drawing further in on herself in shame. She pulled Luke’s sleeves over her hands, bunching them up around her fists as she pulled her knees in, leaning lightly against his shoulder weakly, a soft sniffle to her. She looped her arms around his, her fingertips gently pressing into his skin as she cradled his arm close to her, her lips pressing a slow and tender kiss to the top of his shoulder.
Death, she wasn’t afraid of. She sat in waiting, just begging for the release from her bones and the life she had been cursed with. Waiting for something to decide she had been drawing breath for long enough, for life to just finally let her go. She knew where she was going in the end, confident the anguished screams of her rotted soul was planned on echoing through the chambers of hell. She deserved it. ( she k n e w she did. )
She didn’t even feel like a person here anymore, her mind either always numbingly blank or filled to the brim with useless static.
“ I know it does. ” she said again for him with another soft sniffle. It was the heaviness in her limbs, in the gaping hole in her chest. She wondered if he felt the exact same way she did about these things, about the emptiness that seemed to haunt them no matter what they tried to fill it with. With her soft kiss pressing to his shoulder, she laced her fingers around his, thumb gently rubbing in circles at the back of his hand.
- Because he was right.
" ..... how much do we still have left? " She asked hesitantly, not looking at those sweet steel blues, afraid of the expression they might hold. Rosa gripped onto him tighter, holding his arm close. She didn't want to see his face, his look as she asked quietly for more in shame. Her stomach twisted as she nestled against him, aching from deeply within herself.
There was nothing there but them and the drugs most nights, the pill bottles, the booze, and the needles. Reality got fuzzy at the seams as they got lost in the taste of each other, lost in the dangerous chemicals burning through their systems. She had gotten far too attached to both the comforting smell of his skin, his hoodies; to the the feeling of the dirty needle digging into her arm for a short sense of relief beside him.
The thought of dying alone hadn't scared her much until Luke showed up, playing chicken with her own life with a challenging bark of a laugh, not a care in the world. Luke was an unlikely companion in the dark to hold onto, a dim lantern in the pitch blackness of the world to follow, even as his light flickered on and off. She had convinced herself she was doing o k a y without it before, all alone in the bottom of a bottle, nothing but lies on her tongue and an empty bed to welcome her back. But now?
All she could think about was how much it was going to hurt when they would have to let go; when she would finally lose the addict she had been the most honest with after all these years alone, when she would lose the sense of someone who cared enough to a c t u a l l y want to see her face again - how lost she would end up being all alone all over again.
She h a t e d that he made her feel that weak, that she felt like she needed him by her side just to make it through to the next day, jaw clenched and money slipping through her fingers for more. She hated that she desperately wanted him to keep by her side, afraid he would want to leave.
- Because once you wanted something, it could be ripped away from you.
She gave his fingers a tight squeeze before bringing it up to kiss the back of his hand gently, a calloused hand pressed against her soft lips, holding him close.
"I'm right here with you, Luke... and I'm not going to go anywhere, okay?" She offered gently, resting her head against his shoulder and taking in a trembling breath.
( ....not unless you push me away. )
#ninetyscnds#( did i mean to make it this shippy? no. )#( am i sorry about it? also no. )#( also yes i *did* just spend the last twenty minutes capping hundreds of frames from this scene just for her in his hoodie. )#( i hope this works! )#tw: drug use#( i cry every time TwT )#tw: suicidal ideation

sorry, i don’t like jason or anything, but i feel the need to defend him since i spent like 20 minutes today writing a post about how i hope they write him better. anyway, i don’t think any of his bastard stuff is canon to Fate so far? i haven’t actually read FSF, but from what i’ve read, Alcides paints a very different image of him than Okeanos does or Medea does so i’m curious if Fate has actually had any canon evidence to suggest he’s as shitty as non-fate stuff shows him?
Haha yeah, Alcides, okay. I wouldn’t say that Alcides is a very good person to take anything from, considering he is an alter?? Who was specifically created to remember and live his sins?? But anyways, if we look at what Jason says:
“I’m going to be king, after all; I’m prepared for that much labor. As long as everyone obeys me, I’ll give them suitable compensation and a prosperous land. A land where everyone feels safe. In that land… Listen to me! In that land, no one will look at you and be afraid!” The blond man proclaimed, spreading his arms wide and cutting off Alkeides, who had been about to say something. The gesture almost seemed to say that his words were the world itself. “Because as long as you’re my man, my friend, my property, everyone will understand you.”
By Ancient Greek standards, Jason is a bad king. Suggesting that people are “his property” is not what a good king does! He starts this speech by manipulating his crew, by attacking them where they feel weakest, by their feelings of being treated as monsters, as outsiders. He states that he alone can fix all of the problems, he alone has that intelligence.
“Hm? You want to know why I don’t fear you…? Why even ask something so obvious? It’s because I am a sage possessed of wisdom to surpass even the gods, of course.”
[…]
“That’s precisely why a person like me has to seize power and glory.”
[…]
“Of course, they’ll never equal my wisdom, so I’ll have to compensate for what they lack.”
This is based on a dream that Bazlidot sees, based on Alcides’ memories, from FSF Volume 4. So this is from back on the Argo. No singularity no changes due to the grail, just Alcides’ memory of the Argo. Now you could say that Narita took Okeanos when writing Jason’s characterization.
He says that he’ll make an utopia, but he alone can do so, because he alone is the wisest, when Bazlidot comments that there is not really that much to him. The way he’s written, to me, feels more Shinji-like than anything. The way the scene is presented is that he does this often, as well, and that the rest of the crew are used to this by this point.
Now, in terms of what Alcides says about Jason:
“That man was a vulgar clown with all the weaknesses and twists of human nature in him. Nor can I deny that he always told his companions that he was the one who could make the best use of them.”
“He was a pitiful man who forgot the teaching of our mutual teacher Chiron and became obsessed with his own desires. Still, there was nothing false about the wild tales he spun.”
“That man, smeared with dirt and avarice, was the most human human I ever saw. ”
Very nice. Most people point to this:
“It may be true that he was an incurably arrogant fool who didn’t know his place, but even so… he was my friend.”
This is based on the friendship and bond formed on the Argo (Though It wasn’t enough to keep Heracles on when his bf went missing lol but no one talks about that part of the Argo for some reason).
So, Alcides does say a whole lot of pretty bad stuff about him, which you can read here starting on page 33, but because he was his friend he cannot hate him. I think again it should be noted that Alcides does have negative views on the gods and kings, to whom he shows no distinction, so that should be kept in mind when dissecting how he views Jason.
I would also point to Medea’s backstory from Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, which gives a third person recounting of fate Medea’s backstory, namely the killing of King Pelias by his daughters. In it he tells her:
“Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill King Pelias who broke his vow. Kill the king’s relatives. That’s right. The king alone shall not suffice. Kill that unsightly successor, and the three princess too-”
The VN also states that Jason set up the assassination. In the fate version it has Jason and Medea working together to kill King Pelias. Again, this could be seen as “oh this is just Medea’s memories” but since it is third person, I view it similarly to the other backstories from HA and SN as being truthful.
So, even if we ignore Okeanos, and how Medea characterizes him, then we still have a greedy person who used his shipmates’ fears in order to get what he wanted. Yes, he’s good at finding the best in people, which is a good skill.
He also shows up in Circe’s interlude, but I haven’t been able to find anything based on what that’s about. However it does end with her saying she wishes to go back to her island to proclaim her love to Odysseus, so maybe there’s something to be said about Jason with regards to how she views Odysseus? I don’t know.
I think it should be noted that a character does not need to be likable for them to have good writing. I would say that characters like Columbus and Teach, who are by no means fan favourites, are still sometimes written well. They don’t need to be cute anime boys for them to be in the summoning gacha. Wada Arco in all her wisdom drew Jason with Fionn and David lol. If they want to make him sympathetic, play on the “she killed our children” angle, which most playwrights do when adapting the myth. If they want to make him a hot anime boy, make him closer to Gilgamesh or Ozymandias. But again, since he is introduced threw the eyes of Medea, and we are supposed to feel pity for Medea, that’s going to be difficult.
Finally, as I’ve mentioned before, having him be arrogant, selfish and blaming others for his own problems echoes Medea’s master Altrum in fate/stay night. I think that parallel should be kept personally.
