9 people you would like to get to know better tag meme
except I'm starting a new post because the one I got tagged in was long as shit. I was tagged by @tacofuus, thanks so much!
Last song: Batter Up by Babymonster. It's a solid 6.5/10 check out
Favorite color: violet/lavender. Really any shade of purple
Last tv show/currently watching: I honestly don't really watch TV. I genuinely cannot remember. The last series I actually watched was Death Note with my best friend and that was last year/beginning of this year. I used to be into anime when I was in middle school and this felt like a return to my roots lmao
Sweet/spicy/savoury: I go with savory most of the time, but my favorite is sweet for sure.
Relationship status: narilamb
Current obsession: Writing fanfic for cult of the lamb. It's been just about a year and a half now and I don't see this dying down anytime soon, cotl has squarely entered full special interest status for me so I'll be here for at least another 3 years. I have a bad habit of making a new fandom blog every time I get a shorter-term hyperfixation, writing for it, getting kindasorta recognized in the fandom, then abandoning my works and deleting the blog when I'm not interested in it anymore. Maybe some of y'all followed me in my previous fandoms and y'all would probably never know bc of orphaned works that I can't find anymore. ...anyway. I've made too many close friends in this fandom to pull that stunt again. the-one-who-lambs and my cotl fics are here to stay. I'm rambling
Last thing you googled: 600 cc in cups (I was making soup but all the good noodle packets from China+Korea give units in cubic centimeters. It's about 2.5 cups btw)
Uhhhhh I don't know who to tag so I'll just pick the most recent 9 mutuals in my notes who haven't been tagged already by taco or the people they tagged lol. Don't feel pressured to do it, though! @artsycryptix @just-a-random-demon-official @miallurk @pikos-den @tokyonymph @mianing @bamsara @coffincrows @fanged-cotl
#hannah's rambles#y'all already tagged pavi juliet megsie piper lori but I'm thinking of yall too. barkbarkbarkbarkbark

What did happened with the Padawans Ahsoka save in Wasskah???
OK, I'm starting to feel a little frustrated by how many interested characters appear in Ahsoka's arc's just to be forgotten and never mentioned again.
I already did a few posts on Trace Martez, and Barriss Offe (how are both minor characters in the clone wars series, just look at their actual screen time) but there's also her relationship with Plo Koon, Joscasta Nu, Tera Sinube and Ayla Secura who should all been more explored. I feel like Ahsoka is only allowed to share screen time with Anakin, Rex and Padmé (Obi-Wan and Lux Bonteri too if the writes were feeling generous) and that pisses me off!
So today I'm talking about Kalifa (the human girl), Jinx (the Twi'lek boy) and O-Mer (the Cerean boy)!
Ahsoka meets the Padawan group (I not sure if they are actually Padawans or just senior Younglings) when she is kidnapped by Trandoshan who took her to Wasskah (the moon of their homeplanet) and proceed to try to hunt her.
Trying to scape she meet Kalifa and her friends, all Jedi who allegedly were "abandoned" by their masters and were doing everything possible to survive.
Note: they weren't actually abandoned, rather also kidnapped. But their masters weren't nowhere near looking for them, so I guess the word abandoned works where.
Between the events of this arcs we actually see Kalifa dieing in screen
And after that Ahsoka managers to save Jinx and O-Mer (with the help of Chewbacca for some reason). They go back to the temple and Ahsoka gets to reunite with Anakin in a very heart harming scene
It is really cute and nice to see these two characters care so much about each other but it is also very annoying to see Jinx and O-Mer being reduce to background characters after spending a whole arc rooting for their survive. And this is the last time we ever seen them as well! On my first watch I tough that there being implied that they straight up leave the Jedi order bc they already feel way to disconnect from the Jedi by the time they got back at the temple (we don't even know how much time they spent being hunting in that moon), but rewatching there's no evidence of that, so I guess we supposed to assume they got back to their masters just like Ahsoka did.
That is flat out laziness though, they could very easily show them walking in the temple on later episodes similar like they did with the Younglings Ahsoka took to Ilum, just so we know they were alive and well, but they never do that! It's like Jinx and O-Mer never existed in the first place and there's a particular arc that they could had a major role and would make total sense.
The wrong Jedi arc.
I already comment about how I think they only blame Barriss Offe for the temple bombing bc Ahsoka didn't had any other friends who could betrayer her like that and even made a hole theory what could justify her motives for the attack (link here) but you know who had very reasonable motivation for doing that?
Jinx and O-Mer!
God, did Filoni just forgot about theses two boys there were left to rotten on Wasskah by the Jedi?
They could very easily been portrait as Ahsoka's friends for all they pass together and would be even easier to tell a story about how the grow resenting the Jedi Order for never looking for them after their kidnaping. On top of that, assuming they return to their training as if nothing was happened, they probably were send to battlefronts just like all the other Padawans in the order.
So let me explain their situation:
First they passed for a very traumatic experience by being separated from their masters and hunted down by lizards for months, then their best friend died while trying to help them scape this living nightmare and when they finally get back home and ask about why no one looked for them they probably get the standard Jedi speech about having to let go of attachments and how everyone thought they were death and the council couldn't afford sending rescue missions bc of the separatists (I'm assuming all that bc this is exactly what they told Anakin when he wanted to go find Ahsoka, so it's not only the voices of my head) and after a few days of rest they were required to go fight a freaking war.
They have more reasons (in cannon) to bombing the Jedi temple that Palpatine did! How they aren't even suspects?????
And imagine Ahsoka's reaction if the boys she helped to salve were the responsible for not only killing civilians, clones and Jedi, but also framing her for murderer?
Don't get me wrong, I do like the plot twist of being Barriss, but for that make sense we should had seen what made her to that and we never did, but if Jinx and O-Mer that problem wouldn't exist. Just put a dialogue of them (or one of them) talking about how their lives only got worst after returning to the Jedi and all of us would understand immediately!
But we don't get that because Ahsoka apparently isn't allowed to have more than one friend in the Jedi order.
I always stick with my theories about Barriss motives and how she became so radicalized, but its honestly a waste not to put other Padawans who had a connection to Ahsoka and were turning disenchantment about the Jedi. Imagine she having a little talk about the bombing of the temple and the protests that came together with Jinx and O-Mer and there like "I hope you and Master Skywalker find the bomber, but I do get the point of these protests. It was only a matter of time until this war get the better out of us". You get the idea, my point is that The Wrong Jedi arc should had focus more on changing Ahsoka's perspective on the order, not just because they don't believe she was innocent, but because the Jedi were actually losing their way for everyone she loves and for the galaxy. And these Padawans were a direct reflection of that! I don't care how many wars the Jedi were fighting, losing four kids and refuse to go look for them should be a galactic crime! Were is the Republic child protective services???
Please talk to me if you have any headcanons regarding theses characters, I really would appreciate having someone to share my ideas for the fanfic I working on at the moment and I definitely are going to include Jinx and O-Mer in some way.

◗ pairing's :: ao'nung x fem!reader.
◗ warning's :: avatar the way of water spoilers. mentions of death. mentions of murder. lazy writingD:. grammar/spelling errors.
◗author's note :: only one post today, sorry everyone! i got busy earlier about school, and only had time to write this night<\3.
Your ears twitched at the sound of knuckles knocking against the marui pod, and your family immediately turned to the source of the sound. You looked up to see Ao'nung leaning over the entrance, his torso showing but his body hidden behind your home.
Rotxo peeks behind his friends shoulder, giving a shy look as he immediately covers back when he saw your parents scary gazes. You tilted your head at them slightly, glancing at your parents to see their reactions.
Ao'nung gestures for you, but you hesitantly stood up. You looked at your mother for permission, ears drooping against your hair as you were scared what she would think. Fortunately, she grants you permission to speak to the boy.
Hastily standing up, you walked to his direction. Looking at him expectantly, brows raised as you awaited his words. Rotxo shows himself from behind the boy, giving you a silly smile.
"What is it?" You questioned, giving a wary glance at your family. Your father shakes his head with a sigh, and your two brothers looked at you with a look of disbelief.
"Rotxo and i are gonna take a swim in the reef, do you wanna come?" He responds to your question, noticing your cautious glancing to your family. You slightly winced at his question, shaking your head.
"No, not today unfortunately. I'm grounded." You pursed your lips into a thin line, seemingly upset that you had to get reminded of that fact. Ao'nung let's out a sound of realization, nodding his head understandingly.
"But you didn't do anything." Rotxo perked up, slightly frowning. You only shrugged at his words, "Big sister responsibilities, yknow?"
"Maybe next time? When you're not grounded?" Ao'nung asks again, hopeful of your answer. You paused for a while, thinking about his offer. Eventually, you agreed.
"Alright. But any more trouble, and you two probably won't see me ever again." The two nodded their head timidly at your words. Rotxo definitely didn't want you to be in trouble again.
You bob your head at them slightly, "Now scram," You wave them off, shooing them away. Ao'nung waves at you, while Rotxo was.. being his usual silly self. "Don't miss us too much!" The short boy yelled, earning a smack from the back of the head by Ao'nung.
You snickered at their duality, returning back inside your families marui. You sit back down next to your mother, helping her with the stuff she said she doesn't need helping. Lo'ak suddenly shoves himself near you, looking at you with wide eyes.
"You and Ao'nung? What has gotten into you?" He slightly hissed through his teeth. You gave him a warning glare, feeling embarrassed as your mother was just beside you.
"Did he brainwash you..? Oh no, my poor sister." He cooes, shaking his head.
"Shut it, Lo'ak." You shoved him away, leaving him toppling over Kiri as she yelped in annoyance. You watched as Kiri scolds the poor boy from disturbing her time with Tuktirey, while the boy desperately tried to defend himself.
"New friend?" Your mother perked up, catching your attention. You only hummed as an agreement to her words, and she looked at you suspiciously.
"He's a friend, mama." You whined, leaning against her as she slightly grins at your words. "You remind me a lot about myself when i was just eighteen.. and that was when i met your father." She striked back, looking down at you as you continued to let out embarrassed noises.
"Don't." You pouted, looking at her with upset puppy eyes.
"I also used to hate your father." She continued, leaving you to deal with her torture. Your father from the side only shake his head, displeased by the scene as Lo'ak beside him was also agreeing this his father's distaste.
"My spirit sister, and her baby have been murdered by the sky people!" You watched as Ronal yell out the death of her spirit sister with glistening eyes, a hand coming to your mouth.
Neteyam keeps you close to him as he looked around the area, seeing the metkayina clan lift up their spears while they let out yelps of fierce cries.
"This war has come to us. We knew about this hunting of our tulkun people, but it was over the horizon, far away." The Olo'eyktan thumps his spear on the ground, "Now, it is here!" He fiercely announced.
The clan let's out vicious growls as they did the pukana. Your heart beats against your chest at the words of the Olo'eyktan. You have seen what those demons can do, as they have set your clans entire home on fire, you can vividly remember the memory as it was engraved into your brain ever since.
"You've gotta understand how the sky people think!," your father immediately steps in, catching the rest of the clans attention, as well as yours. "They don't care about the great balance."
A Metkayina man let's out an outraged yell, but you were too focused on your father to properly understand what he said.
"Listen— listen to him!" Neteyam grits out, his brows furrowed.
"The sky people are not gonna stop," Your father puts his hands up slightly, looking eyes wide at the Olo'eyktan and Tsahìk in front of him. "This is only the beginning. You gotta tell your Tulkun's to leave!" He points at the ocean, "You gotta tell them to go far away!"
The Tsahìk looks at him furiously. "Leave?," She starts, "You live among us, and you learned nothing!" She huffed. Your ears twitched at her words, and you hear another Metkayina man yell out.
"We will fight to protect our brothers and sisters!" He voiced out, raising his spear as he thumbs a fist on his chest. "No, no, no! If you attack. If you fight. Then they will destroy you!" Your father intervened.
"They will destroy everything that you love!"
The clan let's out yelps of cries at his words, fueling the fierce fire in them even farther. Your ears silenced the sound around you as your eyes scanned the people surrounding you. It was horrible to see that this fight has reached the people who didn't have anything to do with it, and now someone has to suffer because of the humans actions.
You truly felt devastated for the outcomes. You wished this wasn't what your father's intentions would result. You wished that those demons would just leave your precious pandora alone. You thought your family would be safe here, away from the forest.
But no. Those demons always have a way to come crawling right back.
You were snapped out of your thoughts when you felt the device used on the Tulkun leave your hand. You snapped your attention back to the scene, watching as your father now stood at the center, the device being raised up high. The crowd was silenced by his actions, watching as he spun it around to let everyone see.
"You tell the Tulkun's, that of they're hit by one of these, they are marked for death." He sighed. "Saving their lives, that's all that matters. Right?" His voice slightly breaks, and you see Tsireya slowly and slight nod at your father's words.
"Saving your family." He rasps. The clan stays silent as they thought at your father's words. The Olo'eyktan turns around to face his mate, Ronal. She breathes in deeply, holding her mate's arm with both her hands as he stands up to where your father stood.
"Tell the Tulkun." He states. Ronal sighs, looking at the clan. "Go. Go!" She rushes them.
You watched as Neteyam was distracted by something, but then he immediately leaves your side. Your hand slipped off his hold as he walked away, catching you off guard. "Neteyam—?" You follow him.
Your eyes moved in front of him, and you see as Lo'ak was running away. Finally catching up to what your brother was doing, you stayed silent and decided to follow him.
Lo'ak does a double take as he catches the sight of Neteyam, but then was even more caught off guard when you showed yourself from behind the tall boy. "No way you're going anywhere, baby brother." Neteyam calls out, walking towards the boy.
"I have to warn Payakan about the pingers(?)"
Neteyam waves a hand, gesturing it as a way of refusing. "No. You've got to keep your skxawng ass here." Neteyam responds.
"He's outcast, there's no other way to warn him but me." Lo'ak stands his point, really wanting to warn his bonded Tulkun. Neteyam was now looming over the younger boy, obviously also gonna talk about more.
"Bro," he placed a hand on top of Lo'ak's head before continuing, "Why do you have to make things so hard?" He slightly teased. Lo'ak shoved the boys hand away, triggered by his words.
You stood slightly behind Neteyam as you silently watched the scene, but your attention was on the stubborn young boy.
"No," here he goes. "You mean why can't I be the perfect son like you." Lo'ak spat back. Neteyam pursed his lips, his ears twitching as he nods his head, slightly stepping away. You glared as Lo'ak as the words came out of his mouth.
"Lo'ak!"
Your hiss fell on to deaf ears as he continued to speak of your brother. "Well I'm not you! Okay?" Lo'ak steps back as Neteyam nears him as the words escaped his mouth. Neteyam glared at his brother, "I'm not you. He's my brother, I'm going." He says one last time before taking his leave.
You glanced at Neteyam, feeling slightly guilty for your brother as you couldn't do anything to stop Lo'ak. Even though his words weren't directed at you, you felt awful for the way he treats his older brother.
At the corner of your eye, you see three individuals nearing you and your two brothers. You see Tsireya call out for your brother, hoisting herself up onto the woven mats. Lo'ak pulls his hand away from Neteyam's hold, glancing at the three who've just arrived before he dives into the water.
"Lo'ak! Fucking idiot—" You cussed out, srunching your nose as you tucked for your Ilu, whistling as you see her swim under the woven material. As you see her reveal herself, you dived down into the water, holding the handle as you heard more splashing from behind you.
Your Ilu swims out of the water as you tried to steady your breathing, and you see Kiri at the corner of your eye. "Sister!" Tuktirey exclaimed from behind Kiri. Your harshly flicked your hair off your cheek as it was stuck, glancing behind you as you saw Neteyam.
"Lo'ak's going to find Payakan." He says before diving back down, inhaling sharply. You glanced at Kiri unsurely, but before you went back down you looked at Tuktirey. "Don't bring Tuk."
You didn't hear her respond as you already dove into the water, following close to Neteyam as he was the one to see where Lo'ak was going.
You watched as Lo'ak tried to pull out the beeping device from a short distance, your older brother jumping onto the Tulkun's back as he tried to help. You fidgeted as you watched a boat nearing your group and the Tulkun, your breathing turning ragged as you were nervous of what's going to happen.
"Hurry, you two!" You hissed nervously, jumping onto the Tulkun's back as well to help. "Don't move it around like that! Pull it out, dont—" You let out an annoyed groan as Lo'ak stopped attempting to pull the beeping device.
"Lo'ak, call dad. Call dad!" Neteyam rushed the boy. Lo'ak nods his head, rushing further up Payakan's back as he pressed on the throat comms around his neck. You pressed on your the earpiece, looking at Lo'ak as you listened into their conversation.
Your eyes wandered at the boat. You tail wraps itself around your leg as you bit your lip. You watched as Ao'nung wraps a rope around the device, watching your brother as he was wrapping the other end around his ilu. The Ilu starts swimming forward, and you crouched down at the device, holding it roughly.
"Together! Pull it together at the count of three!" You yelled to catch their attention. They all nod at you, gripping the device tightly with their hands as Tsireya used her feet. "One, two, three, pull—!"
Rotxo let's out a rough yell as you grunted, bumping into Ao'nung as the device was finally pulled out. You swim to your Ilu, gesturing at her to follow the rest of the group as you were behind them.
You all settled into the tall, thick leaves of the waters, looking up at the boats above the water. Your eyes catches the sight of submarines in the water, and you turned at the group, signing then to swim off.
You tightly held on your Ilu's handle, trying to avoid the submarines gaining on your tails. You raised your arm in front of your face as the leaves start hitting your body, looking in front of you. Swiftly turning your Ilu to avoid the crab submarine that was in front of your group, barely dodging the robotic arm reaching at your Ilu.
Ditching your Ilu, you weakly attempted to stray away the crab that was chasing you, hiding into one of the big leaves until your reached a large pod that had a pocket for you to breath into. You hear another splash behind you, making you turn as you saw Ao'nung.
Letting out a breath of relief, you outstretched an arm at his cheek as you tried to steady your breathing. "Are you alright?" You questioned. The boy only nods, gulping water that went into his mouth at your actions.
You both tried to catch your breath in silence as you observed the lights around you, raising your legs up in case they could see it from underwater.
"Your sister— Tuktirey, Lo'ak, and Tsireya was captured." Ao'nung speaks up after catching his breath. Your ears twitched at his words, snapping your attention at him. "Where are they?"
He only shrugged at your question, and you let out a frustrated sound. You looked down in the water, and as if Ao'nung read your mind, he tried to intervene.
"Don't go."
"They're my siblings, Ao'nung. I have to fight." He shakes his head at your words, practically glaring at you for wanting to save your siblings. "Don't step in for the adults. It's dangerous for you out there." He grits out, grasping your forearm as he noticed you hesitantly trying to leave.
You bit your lip, looking away. "Ao'nung.." You desperately called his name. You wanted to save your siblings, and as well as his sister. You were raised and trained to be a fighter after all, but thise fight was far different than what you were trained for.
"Stay with me. please." He pleads.
You clenched your jaw, but nods at his pleas. "But first, we hunt for those damn crabs." You pointed a finger at him, and he holds a hand up, "Alright."
You tucced for your Ilu once again as Ao'nung does the same. You both count at the same time before disappearing into the water, holding eachothers hands as you did so. You swim towards your Ilu, grasping at her handle as your other hand made the bond. You signed at Ao'nung to follow you, and he obediently does so.
You both wove your ways through the large kelps. After a few minutes, you found your way out of the water kelped forest, and saw Kiri as well as Rotxo. The sight of a human coming out of the submarine catches your attention, and you grit your teeth as you began swimming towards it at full speed.
The teeth of your Ilu wrapped around the man's head, dragging him out of the submarine as you can faintly hear him scream into the water before he gets brutally crushed. The other man who was trying to get out of the water gets choked by the tentacles of the water flora, and you awed at the sight Kiri had made.
The glowing spots on her face dims, and you gestured her to come over. She swims over at you, holding tightly around your waist as you followed Ao'nung and Rotxo away from the bloodied scene you created, going up at the surface.
And then Kiri got taken away right after you all reached the surface. Just perfect.

Okay, after a nights sleep I'm less mad about tumblr nuking my post before I could ever hit the post button.
The Ravening War
(Spoilers)
I think that Raphaniel and Karna dying to the Disposal, being the two that were more closely tied to the bulb and the hungry one, made their deaths at the hand of this third unimaginable force very poetic.
Karna and her extremely close ties to death via the rot and the hungry one; and Raphaniel being close to death via his visions and his vacant ramblings of calls to the singularity that was in his visions. To end up where they did, it was a story of futility. That no matter how well you did or how well you prepared, sometimes it's just not enough and never would have been.
Then there's Deli, hoo boy. I loved the theme of helplessness with him. Such a huge force to be reckoned with on a physical scale but finding himself in a place where things are so much more complicated. To spend most of his life just doing what he thought he needed and to find out that none of it has ever really worked for him. It's a return to the theme of futility, and when he finally comes to terms with that he decides to not be a part of it. I think in the end, while under the guise of trying to save his only 2 other friends, Deli wanted to die. So when it was time to go back to this life that he finally was able to see through, he couldn't do it. So he walked into the north and became an outlander.
Without Lou's input we can never know. but to me it felt like Deli was upset that he lived when 2 of his friends did not and that, alongside his realization of his willingness and enthusiasm to be a pawn, made him wish he died in that tunnel. That his friends would have lived.
Amangeaux seemed like she just wanted to be vindicated in any and everything to me, and she would mimic those around her to do it. She attempted to become a political authority, to become queen, because that's who was around her and it was the life she knew. When she found that she was maybe not as battle hardened as the others, she sought to become like them. Training to become stronger. Even at the very end, she seemed to only follow and mimic those around her. Where in she kept trying to reach out, to the mycelium, for answers instead of just making decisions.
I feel like it shows her lack of control and influence. She started this game as probably the most powerful person in the world of Calorum (As Queen) and to see that she never really knew how to wield it or use it. She lost in her identity from the very beginning and it shows in her epilogue where she choses to become spymaster to Uvano because she doesn't know what else to do. So she latches onto someone else to keep herself going.
Maybe there's a metaphor for co-dependency there too but I feel the helplessness and loss or lack of identity is the big play.
Then there is Provolone. The man who seemed to just be along for the ride. He did not come from nobility or power, he did not seek fame or fortune, he never wished to deal in fate and prophecy. Yet he was found to be right in the middle of it all and to be the one that struck down the avatar was beautiful.
All he ever wanted to do was just get by. He was happy just selling his sword and doing whatever he felt was right in the moment. He never played games with the powers that be because he did not want to tempt anything bad. He always seemed to let the things around him bend and shape him but never change him.
But in those final moments, because he did not try to play at some grand design or try to tempt fate or forge his name into the history books, it seems that fate had chosen him to be the one to end the Disposal.
~~~~~
This is all speculation based on my interpretations of the characters and what I watched. I can be wrong, and in fact maybe am completely wrong, but this is what I took away.
It was an amazing game and it was a beautiful love note to the world of Calorum. Even though I'm not a huge fan of Mercer's DM style, I think he did great here. Maybe he didn't go into as much depth with things as Brennan might but he still did well.
I can't wait to see more crossovers and hopefully more guests dancing through the dome.
~~~~~
Another aside, or P.S.S. or whatever.
Raphaniel was my clear favorite, if only because Brennan with his wide knowledge of the word was able to create just the most unhinged holy many ever. And to be honest I love that.
But Karna get's an extremely close 2nd place. She was just a girl trying to make it in a world that was maybe just a little too big for grand plans she had in mind. But that never stopped her from trying. Also Aabria just makes amazing characters all the time.

So having only watched the mess that was Armageddon from Flash S8, I've mostly gotten my info about that season second hand and none of it really puts me in a rush to see the season despite the return of Ronnie (expect not really) and a heroic version of Eobard showing up.
And I admit, I'm still trying to piece together an alt take on the season that would have enticed me to watch after Armageddon. Just as a thought exercise for now, but it could easily be for fanfic purposes later.
Setting aside the first five episodes of the season, the only four things I hear about when people talk about S8 is that the episode focused on Nora & Bart is cute, the Ronnie psych-out plot was rushed, nothing really happens with the Iris time sickness plot until the end of the season, and the heroic Eobard plot (where Eobard gets one of Barry's love interests from the comics and also the face-ripping off thing that comics!Eobard did to comics!Barry) was also rushed. And it seems like the biggest problem the season had was pacing.
I am... not surprised.
So according the Arrow wiki, S8 was broken up into three main arcs. Armageddon, Death Revisited, and It's All Negative. There's a two episode interlude between the first two arcs, and a three episode interlude between the second and third arcs.
I'd have to say, looking over the plot summaries for Death Revisited, they spent too much time foreshadowing and not enough time focused on Ronnie & Caitlin & Frost. If the heart of the story line is supposed to be Caitlin's grief over Ronnie being dug back up and the sisterly love that's grown between Caitlin and Frost, then they needed to commit to it and build those two aspects of the storyline up first.
If the interlude were cut down to just one episode, then we keep Impulsive Excessive Disorder as the post-Armageddon breather but end it with a teaser about Eobard Thawne (Matt edition) showing up in present day Central City, found by Meena. With the third arc foreshadowed as being a result of XS and Impulse's time travel, the second arc starts. It also takes the second arc from six episodes to seven.
Cutting out Marcus, Caitlin's quickly forgotten about boyfriend would probably help with the pacing a lot more too. Instead Caitlin's issues with Frost/Mark become the very valid point that Mark hasn't actually done anything to earn Caitlin's trust, but also jealousy because she's reminded of what she had with Ronnie. Underscored by Caitlin having started dreaming about Ronnie lately and flashbacks to her relationship with him when she sees Frost out with Mark. The three of them wind up looking into a recent death of one of Caitlin's colleagues - and friends - who'd recently been on the same panel as Caitlin at the science & tech conference from the Armageddon arc. This winds up being their first encounter with the Black Flame, which Frost notes rather uncomfortably seems drawn to Caitlin.
By the end of the episode Mark would have demonstrated that he really is trying to be a better person, not just to earn Caitlin's trust but because it's what he wants for himself. And Caitlin having a heart to heart with Frost about how their relationship as sisters is what helped Caitlin overcome her heartache over losing Ronnie and move on with her life, though she's not sure she'll ever truly stop grieving him entirely - the episode stinger would have the black flame appearing in somewhere in Central City with Ronnie stepping out of it.
The next episode, Caitlin's seeing Ronnie everywhere while the Black Flame goes after more people. Frost is concerned about Caitlin's mental well being and when the episode culminates in Ronnie showing up 'for real' and asking for Caitlin's help in stabilizing him without Martin, Frost is very suspicious. But the entire team helps Caitlin reprogram the quantum splicer to help him return to normal. Afterwards all his scans show Ronnie as being a perfectly normal human. Caitlin is elated and kisses him, but Frost is worried that's still not Ronnie, which she confides in Mark.
The third episode has Ronnie creating a rift between Caitlin and Frost as he needs Caitlin's entire focus to be on him. Her love for Frost and her friends is a problem but Frost in particular is holding Caitlin back. As far as he's concerned, anyway.
Frost would probably be the one to figure out that Ronnie was actually the source of the Black Flame in the fourth episode but by the time she figures it out, Caitlin's already left to spend time alone with "Ronnie" forcing the team to look for her frantically. Episode five would have Caitlin learn the truth but by then she's been 'poisoned' by her proximity to 'Ronnie' and her rekindled love for him having given Deathstorm the in he needed to start transforming her into another of his kind. By the time the team finds them, Caitlin has accidentally manifested black flames herself.
Episode 6 would focus on Ronnie and Frost's fight over Caitlin with Caitlin ultimately choosing Frost but in doing so the transformation she's going through begins to kill her. If Deathstorm can't have Caitlin, no one will.
Episode 7, Frost knowingly risks dying to save Caitlin. As she puts it to Mark, she was created from to protect Caitlin but has become so much more. Because Caitlin loved her, Frost became her own person and has learned to live for herself. She no longer sees protecting Caitlin as an obligation to run from, but a choice she makes out of love. When Frost dies after absorbing the hellfrost powers as well as Deathstorm's powers, she's seemingly absorbed back into Caitlin. Which would make Caitlin's certainty that Frost is alive within her later on make more sense.
The next interlude is the funeral for Frost but from there I'm not sure where to go. Iris' time sickness never totally made sense and I still think it should have been wrapped up as part of Armageddon.
Obviously Eobard would get introduced a lot sooner and take part in several episodes proving himself as a hero, only to make it more tragic when EoWells either intentionally or unintentionally utilizes his more heroic self to facilitate his return for the season finale.

Thought's While Binging the Entirety of Ninjago Crystalized in One Sitting:
Warning: I cuss like a drunken sailor, and major spoilers(...duh)
(The following is more chaos than it is actual substance, but what more can you expect from a person who's probably got both ADHD and Autism? I put it under a text break to preserve your sanity.)
(White -> notes I made while watching.)
(Green -> notes I made after the fact.)
-These new ninja assholes are pretty fuckin' annoying. I'm glad those bitches got crystal-zombified./hj
-Zane freezing Nya so she wouldn't return the sea was pretty fucking clever actually, I like that he's actually smart in this show again. Although, how removing a water spirit's powers makes her human again makes less sense to me the more I think about it.
-Ohp, the ninja are in cryptarium...this has never happened before. What do you mean? season 6 isn't canon, the show said so. Fun fact: I skipped it on my most recent rewatch of the show because I hate it so much :D
-Ronin, aka bitchass, you used to be cool, then the island happened and now I hate you. The island ruined everyone, but at least Ronin got his cool status back by the end of the season, he deserves to be cool.
-Pythor, you're still cool(plus that gag where he slapped himself awake was genuinely funny). I wish he was on-screen a bit more this season, he's never not been funny.
-Please, for the love of god, tell me I'm not going to have to endure having this dumbass (Fugidove) being on-screen for much longer. I did, it was agony./hj
-Dareth, back in season two, I hated you, but now you're actually funny so you get an official pardon for all previous bullshitery. Actually, the comedy in this season was pretty good overall.
-*happy stimming*OMG, SALLY'S VAN HAS A PROGRESS PRIDE FLAG ON THE BACK OF IT!! Her guitar has one too.
(For further context: I was spoiled about the fact Harumi was going to come back)
-The reveal should happen soon, I wonder how well it'll be handled......REALLY FUCKING WELL APPARENTLY. And they not only addressed her presumed death, they gave it an entire episode of explaination.
-HEY, I KNOW THAT GOOPY EVIL ASSHOLE! This fucking show, they did NOT! They fucking did, I had to go downstairs and process that for a moment afterwards because holy shit.
-Lloyd, your ex-girlfriend is just as stubborn as you are gullible, she's not gonna change her mind......see? what did I tell you, now your friends and your uncle are presumed dead. But not actually dead, of course, fake-out deaths are a dime a dozen with this show.
-Okay, shit's going down now. Harumi I stfg if you don't change sides by the end of this season and get back with Lloyd I will punch you, not even fictional characters are safe from catching these hands. She did, I knew she would, but now she's definately safe from getting punched.
-Garmadon's his roomate isn't he? *sees flashback* oh, I forgot about that in season ten, this makes a whole lot of sense now. I may or may not have immediately gone to ao3 looking for Lord Garmadon/Vinny fanfic out of curiousity, and then spiraled downwards into being a survivalshipper.
-Holy shit, Oni Garmadon's new design FUCKS, huge step up from when he looked like a goddamn cars movie shitpost. Makes sense, this season was clearly not as rushed as season 10 and they had to figure out a good design for him(the overlord looks kinda dumb tho).
-Homebois, why do you always immediately jump to hating on Garmadon. I know he's a dick sometimes but he's helped you just as much, probably more than he's fucked shit up.
-As much as I don't like post-oni-and-dragon era Ninjago(aside from this specific season, this one was good), the animation style is something I cannot complain about, it's real pretty.
-(Reacting to Zane's plane crashing) Please don't almost die again, Zane, don't let the show bully you like that. He almost died again, first fake-out in a while that actually got me emotional, especially with Zane being the victim(cause he has the highscore).
-Oh shit! No, nononono, he's making Ninjago city all weird again, please don't let this end like season 3, that made me cry so fucking hard. It didn't, thank fucking god.
-Your dad has a point there, Lloyd, he hasn't always let you down when you've needed him(though he has done it more than few times).
-OOOooh, callbacks to season 2. Makes sense because this is (presumably) the last season of the main show, and ending it fighting off the villian who was the big bad in what was previously supposed to be the last season(and the antagonist of season 3(and Decoded)), makes a lot of sense.
-God damnit, I know it's just a glitch, but I did NOT need the Ice Emperor to show up again even a little bit. I fucking hated season 11 btw, fucking hated it.
-Ronin, I take back what I said earlier, I love you, you glorious bastard(also GODAMNIT FUGIDOVE!...okay that one joke he made was funny). "Because...Inspirational Speech!" was the joke in question btw.
-(Reacting to Borg being oblivious to the invasion because he was hyperfocused on a project) That's a big fuckin mood right there. I should get that Autism diagnosis, shouldn't I?
-Cole absolutely has a concussion right now, homeslice is not having a good time. And then he was fine right afterwards, because this show does not take injuries seriously at all(no one's surprised).
-Pythor's right guys, it was rude of you to leave while he was monologuing.
-(Reacting to the titlecard for "Compatible") This episode is gonna give me the feels, isn't it? Yep, yep, it gave me the feels...godamnit show, godamn you, they used the music from the end of season three too, omfg this SHOW!/pos/aff
-Oh yeah, I forgot Jay and Nya were married(or the contradictory in-universe version of marriage, anyway).
-I'm going to start quoting that, aren't I? "Complation," that's fuckin funny. It was also really sweet of Lloyd to go back to the Serpentine library for Chistophern, knowing it'd make up for yelling at his dad earlier.
-*sings at top of lungs*JUMP UP, KICK BACK, WHIP AROUND, AND SPIN!! AND THEN WE JUMP BACK TO IT AGAIN, NINJA! (GO!) NINJA! COME ON, COME ON, INTO THE WEEKEND WHIP! As you can probably tell, I have a lot of nostalgia for this mess of show.
-The fuckin' lightning chicken is infected? We're out of hope you guys, I'm sorry./j
-I've always loved Garmadon's sass, and I am so glad that it only got better when they resurrected him in season 8. Honestly, as much as I missed Sensai Garmadon after season 4(and technically 5 too because he only showed up briefly), this version of him is probably my favorite.
-Shintaro, Merlopia, and the Sepentine to the rescue, hell yes!
-THE DRAGON FORMS, HELL YES!
-Oh FUCK...OVERLORD YOU DONE FUCKED UP SIR, HARUMI'S ABOUT TO KICK YOUR FUCKING ASS, DUDE! I like that the Overlord having possesed the Great Devourer back in season one makes the first two seasons make more sense in retrospect(I mean, it took around ten years for that reveal, but still).
-(@ King Vangelis)You did slave labor bro, that ain't cool, cool people don't own slaves.
-She attached the godamn drill to her mech? Pixal is Donnatello kinnie confirmed?!/hj To anyone reading, go watch Rise of the TMNT right now if you've never seen it before, it's fantastic.
-Oh boy, series finale time...I'm not ready for this.
-Garmadon you bitch, you better not fucking die right now, I stfg! He faked his own death to motivate Lloyd into entering his oni form, which is both very in character and hilarious.
-THE ULTRA DRAGON?! It wasn't, but I was confusled for a second.
-I'm actually going to fucking cry...*looks at clock and sees that it's almost 2am*...I think I should go to bed actually.
#this happened about a week ago now#i just forgot i had this in my drafts tbh#ninjago#(you can't make me tag all the characters fuck you/lh)#(i covered an entire season's worth of content here have mercy)

Alucard x Trevor Belmont x Sypha
Last Film:
Barbie and I still have the Ken song in repeat in my brain. I really loved the whole movie.
Currently Watching:
I don't watch too many TV shows but I needed to see season 2 of Loki (feeling very meh compared to season 1 but could honestly be just because I really don't like Marvel that much anymore). Also just finished season 2 of Our Flag Means Death (really no notes, very camp, very gay, very pirates). My partner and I were watching Star Trek: Enterprise but my attention span just doesn't want to keep up with it.
Currently Reading:
I'm waiting to get an iPad but I started reading The Witcher. I am about halfway through and I am enjoying it a lot, although it really makes the Netflix series look pretty meh. There are so many details they missed in the first season that would have made it work better. I also tried to read Stephen King's Fairy Tale earlier this year and I couldn't even get halfway because the pacing is slug slow. When I get my iPad I want to read Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klume.
Currently Playing:
I've paused my BG3 playthrough(s) to curve some burnout but will probably return to it soon. My friends and I have been playing Risk of Rain 2 and Lethal Company in the evenings, and I've been grinding the event in ESO. I've been getting the itch to play Red Dead Redemption 2 but I would have to uninstall Mass Effect, which I'm not fully ready to commit to yet as I still have 2 or 3 playthroughs of that I would like to finish. Plus, mods :(
Currently Consuming:
Coffee with pumpkin spice creamer and a chocolate breakfast protein shake with a little extra chocolate sauce and dairy free milk.
Currently Craving:
Attention from my partner (who is at work), the next D&D session, art of Galethor or Zafir, and more time before work to crochet.
Tagging anyone who wishes to participate.

Beginning of the year end work dump, 2021 edition.
Hey, guess what, my writing makes a return! Since I do write from time to time, I might as well include it here despite how nervous I get.
I think that I'll always start off these year end things with writing now since I tend not to do as much of that as drawing. Plus, it's easier to group together.
As a warning: Most stories are not edited, completed or planned to be completed, have weird placeholder titles, and some were either quick ideas I wanted to get down or just got really into.
Flufftober 2021
What's this? Well, for October, I thought about participating in Flufftober 2021, but the second half of this year has been killer on me so that got shot. I at least had some ideas down for this. I also don't have every prompt I wanted to do written out enough where I'd be willing to post it.
This series of writing is planned on being completed anyhow, so I'll post them all at some point, either all at once or spaced out, not sure.
Prompt list and rules can be found here, so if you're curious about it, it's there for you to view.
Day 5 Watching the Sunrise Fandom: Star Wars Pairing: Qymaen jai Sheelal x Seer (OC) Word Count: 1,066 Warnings: None
YEAH, I MADE A FRICKING HUMANOID DRAGON RACE (to no one's surprise) FOR STAR WARS. I ALSO (somewhat) PAIRED ONE OF EM WITH GRIEVOUS, EVEN BEFORE HE BECAME A CYBORG.
This fic is a little... awkward. This is one of those ones where I kinda just went zip-zoom through to get the ideas down, I just have to go back and add the fluff between them so it's not so weird.
Anyway, minor info for my Priest/Seer: Her race is called Desdrada and they're shut off from the galaxy of their own volition, believing it is safer for them to do so. They also want as little to do with the galaxy to protect their companions, the Minema (dragon race I created), and give them the peace the Sith over a millennia ago refused to let them have. So, no one exactly knows what's going on in the outside world, minus the Seer's/Priests that have foresight. Of course, knowledge is limited that way, so that's when this Priest is allowed to be the only one to leave their home to venture out and see what's really going on outside.
Day 7 Meddling Friends Fandom: A Hat in Time Pairing: The Snatcher/The Prince x Aura (OC) Word Count: 1,094 Warnings: Mentions of death
It's been how many years and I still don't know how I'm gonna pair Snatcher and Aura? Yup. Honestly, it would probably have to be a combined effort anyhow considering Aura doesn't know the first thing about romance or when being flirted with and everything just goes over her head. Because of her set engagement at a young age that she took seriously, she practically grew up Ace and needs to break that mindset.
Snatcher has many headaches that like to show up and he can't ever get rid of all of them. It's worse when they start speaking and getting into his affairs.
I have no idea how this fic is gonna turn out and this might be one of the two ideas I'll abandon, but we'll see.
Day 22 Flirting at Work Fandom: MediEvil (Modern-ish AU) Pairing: Orell Lashier/Kesten (OC) x Hildegard (OC) Word Count: 1,756 Warnings: Mentions of severe medical condition
*checks the word count, notes on what to put in later, and looks at my previous writings* Yeah, I think this is gonna be another long one lmao. WHY CAN'T I EVER DO A SHORT THING FOR THESE TWO!? I coulda just been like "Orell slipped and fell into Hilda's arms and had to be cheesy about it like normal then she proceeds to drop him" but nope. ANGST THEN FLIRT WITH 4K+ WORDS (that's my estimate right now let's see how close I get).
As I've stated, there's angst then it will get to the flirt. On one hand, I'm kinda cackling thinking about it, on the other hand, I wanna be like "Liiiin, is this oooook? Es not too bad, right?". I always get self-conscious with writing certain romantic things and I'm honestly afraid that it might be uncomfortable or seem as sexual to others. It's worse when it comes to CERTAIN characters (I am eyeing the shiz out of Ravenhooves and Dan's personality while alive).
Anyways, Orell is a mess and gets himself into bigger messes which then makes everyone worry. He'll be fine, probably. At least he'll have Hilda and Teddy there for him.
Other flufftober prompts I have in the working that I'm not posting right now:
Day 19 Flowers Fandom: Metroid Pairings: Ravenbeak x Female Reader Toha Chozo Yeah, a reader insert, I decided to try it for once.
Day 20 Secret Crush Fandom: Star Wars Pairing: Darth Nihilus x Gender Neutral Reader This was actually the first idea I had for the reader insert and will take some inspiration from my own self-insert thing.
Day 30 Fall asleep on my lap Fandom: A Hat in Time Pairings: None, this is a platonic fic. This is just gonna be Aura with her new dragon form just being a mom towards Julia and all the munchkins.
MediEvil
Thoughts of a Hedge Word Count: 263
I just like making myself sad it seems, but despite how short this is, it's essentially done, just not edited. A small insight into the Hedge Griffin's mind.
Self Insert hours
Yes, I continue to be self-shipping trash. All of these are Star Wars too I just noticed lmao, so there's that warning. I've had nothing but General Grievous brain rot this year and never really did right down Mandalorian shenanigans.
As an overall note: I stopped writing these because once I saw a fanfic on Ao3 that also involved a self-insert Seer, I got self-conscious and closed up shop because of that fear of stealing an idea even if I had no clue it existed. True, I would not have posted these anywhere but Toyhouse if I did decide to share, but still. There are definitely differences between my ideas and that authors, but I still felt the self-consciousness kick in. For anyone curious, their fic is called "What's a fan doing in Star Wars?"
Despite my halt on writing these, still developed ideas, so a lot of these are no longer accurate in some parts more than others.
Battle for Kamino Word Count: 1,818 Warnings: Violence and Spinal Injury
Brief moment of when General Grievous and Ventress invaded Kamino to steal the DNA of Jango.
When I was reacquainting myself with the Clone Wars series, my mind stuck on this episode particularly for a reveal that the person who he recognized as his enemy was once Grievous's friend. My change to this is now after the Mortis Arc, but some of this is still relevant (aka, bone snapping).
Eggscavation Word Count: 6,463 Warnings: Mild Violence
This story shifts perspectives and is meant to do so often between mine and General Grievous's, but definitely has some moments with the Battle Droids (and would have with Atacon as well).
Let's invade a ship to save an unhatched dragon while simultaneously ticking off the cyborg. Nothing can go wrong (I didn't get to the fighting between him and the Jedi though so none of that actually).
Who's this Everon though? Well, that's actually Darth Nihilus, having given up his Sith title. In my mind, with him being dead, his hunger for the force wouldn't need to be satiated and he'd actually be pretty chill. He becomes further chill once he's shown friendship and actually is given a choice on what's done to him since being stuck in his holocron.
Gay Agenda Word Count: 2,058 Warnings: Mention of severe health condition due to trauma
I'M SORRY IF THE TITLE OFFENDS ANYONE BUT LIKE MY BRAIN JUST WENT OFF ON AN "Oh yeah, I guess I got one of those" AFTER I SAW THIS PATCH. I don't know why my brain latches onto certain things, I can't even.
Crossing the streams here because for my self insert thing in the Sequel Trilogy Era, Plo-Koon is not around and it's still too fricking early for Phasma to be brought in, so they're the only off ones.
I really don't know what to say for this writing other than there was gonna be usage of the planner to divide time up between the characters in this fic. The Line up would have been this:
Primeday - Boba Fett
Centaxday - Darth Vader and Captain Phasma
Taungsday - Darth Nihilus and Darth Bane
Zhellday - Plo Koon and Din Djarin
Benduday - Grievous
Time before the departure Word Count: 2,149
Kind of just a small interaction I thought of that could have happened before the start of the place of the Mandalorian. Mostly did it to remind me that Dar-Jee Dal has a son in this timeline and that'd he'd show up at the end of Season 1 of the Mandalorian.
Dar-Jee Dal is technically my and Grievous's son while Ethenol is our Grandson.
To briefly explain why Grievous is alive and not made of metal, that would do with the Kaleesh gods. I thought about how in Legends canon he'd go to them and beg to see Ronderu one last time and deny him but then wondered in a "what if" they were like "Lol, so how about this" and shove him back out of the either to suffer without her again. Ok, that just came to mind, but I thought it'd be interesting if they did give him the second chance anyway for some reason.

SPN has so much spinoff potential and so much canon to work with, it's such a waste that none of it's getting used. This post is just all of my spinoff ideas, I'll apologize in advance because it is VERY long.
Wayward Sisters, obviously. There are so many possible storylines to work with, so many stories to tell. I'd really love to see some Charlie, Eileen, or Krissy Chambers cameos. I think that Charlie and Claire would get along really well (just read this post). Rowena is another character that I think could easily be worked into the canon. She could teach the girls all kinds of magic and be the fun wine aunt that spoils the girls on their birthdays. I don't think that Claire would like her very much, but, Rowena and Alex would probably get along just fine. How much I need this in my life: 1000000000000000000000000/10 when I heard that this idea had been tossed out I was so angry. Why doesn't this exist?
Men of Letters prequel that's mostly set in the bunker. This show could really expand on the canon lore and give us some more background on the Men of Letters, as well as any other similar/rival organizations that were around before the main show's time. The Men of Letters have so much story potential for a spin-off; corrupt leadership, new monsters, other organizations, expanding the MoL to outside the U.S. Episodes could be in a monster-of-the-week (MOTW) format, starting and ending with the Man of Letters the case is assigned to making notes in his journal or case file or talking about the case, as well as the overall season arcs. Episodes would be titled by their case number, i.e S1 E1 Case No. 1925-4, etc How much I need this in my life: 1000000/10, the supernatural/historical drama combo would be absolutely stunning.
A series focusing on all of the alternate timelines and universes, both the ones mentioned in the main show and ones just randomly created for an episode. There are infinite possibilities. Each episode would be in a MOTW format, but with different versions of Sam and Dean. The HunterCorp universe, Jared and Jensen from the French Mistake, a universe where their names are switched, a universe where Dean went to college and was the one with the demon blood powers, a universe where they drive a Mustang instead of the Impala, a universe where Sam isn't scared of clowns. I could go on, but I'm going to stop myself here. How much I need this in my life: 9/10 I think it would be pretty funny, but it's not my best idea.
A Bobby and Rufus spin-off where they talk about cases they worked on together or with other hunters, but the stories are told similarly to Tall Tales. It's the same story but told from different points of view depending on who's talking. I wish we'd gotten to see more of Bobby and Rufus because I think those two are hilarious and really think that this could be funny, even if it was just a web series with twenty-minute episodes. How much I need this in my life: 10/10, I love Bobby and Rufus and I think that they have a lot of interesting hunting stories to tell.
GHOSTFACERS GHOSTFACERS GHOSTFACERS. How much I need this in my life: 100000000000000000000000/10, I love the Ghostfacers. That's my whole idea.
A Jack-centric show that's almost a political drama. Jack is the ruler of heaven and is constantly being manipulated by angels, demons, and Death herself. He just wants to make an afterlife paradise, but power-hungry angels won't leave him alone. Remember that Jack is very young and trusting by nature, so there is a lot of potential for disaster if he gets goaded into doing something, like making new universes or ending existing ones. Cas is a main character and he does his best to protect Jack, but he has to be careful to not seem overprotective/like another manipulator or Jack won't trust him either. I have no idea if I'm making any sense, but shoutout to me if I am. For some reason, I've always thought that heaven would be an interesting setting for a spin-off, and those angels are pretty similar to power-hungry politicians. How much I need this in my life: 800/10, I would totally watch this.
A very short series that just destroys the canon finale. Twelve episodes, detailing the storylines that were ignored or destroyed by Carry On. E1: Rescuing Cas from the Empty and he and Dean have a long talk about their ~feelings~. They kiss, and for the first time, Dean’s mind is free of doubt about whether or not anyone could ever love all of him. E2: Eileen returns. She says nothing when she sees Dean and Cas holding hands, just raises her eyebrow and smiles knowingly. Some excellent movie night content. E3: 1 year later. Sam and Eileen’s wedding. Dean and Cas aren’t legally married, but their matching gold rings are very prominently shown. It isn’t mentioned. The wedding is almost canceled because of the rain, but with a wave of Jack’s hand the clouds disappear and the birds start to sing. E4: Sam and Eileen have moved out of the Bunker. Cas finally convinces Dean to downsize, so they find a little house in Lawrence and settle down. Cas works as a special ed teacher. Dean works as a mechanic. Miracle loves the backyard but makes sure to stay away from the beehives in the back corner. E5: Sam and Eileen’s twins, Mary and Maura, are born. Dean and Cas love their nieces, and Jack loves them too. He doesn’t know what to call himself, so they settle on Uncle and call it good. E6: Deaths. They all die old. Cas’s vessel has aged, but he can’t die, so when Dean finally passes away in his sleep, Cas scatters his ashes in the woods and disappears, ascending to heaven, to spend eternity with Dean. The closing scene is a dark screen, with the whoosh of wings and a soft “Hello, Dean.” OK. That was a long one. My apologies. How much I need this in my life: 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10. I would reach nerdvana thirty seconds into episode one.
Another spinoff of that idea is just...Dean and Cas living a normal life. Short episodes. Cas goes to the grocery store. Dean drags Cas to a horror movie fan convention. Cas meets a roomba. How much I need this in my life: I can’t type enough zeroes to express it.
Campbell prequel that focuses on Mary and her childhood. Mary being raised as a hunter but not being allowed on hunts. Mary rushing home to finish her chemistry homework so she can help her dad track a nest of vampires moving east. Mary missing her prom to help Samuel on a hunt. Mary trying to keep her real life secret from John, a man she knows loves the parts of her he knows about. Mary always being an outsider, the kindest and most beautiful girl in her class, but so slow to trust and quick to speak that everyone is afraid to be her friend. Mary is a character that has the potential a lot more development, for twelve seasons she’s the burning martyr in every Winchester’s imagined paradise. She deserves more. How much I need this in my life: 11/10, Mary isn’t my favorite character but I would die for her.
Gabriel spin-off. That’s it, that’s the idea. How much I need this in my life: 10000000/10, Gabriel is a character that we don’t know a lot about so there are so many possible directions for a story about him to go.
Show set in the SPN universe that doesn’t really interact with the main show’s canon. It’s about two cops in the 30s that become hunters by accident. After investigating the apparent suicide of a hunter in their small town, they become enthralled by her library, filled with books about ghosts and vampires. They pour over her journals on their own time, fascinated by what they’re reading. They get to know the hunter through her writings, her accounts of her hunts and travels. Eventually, a nest of vampires settles in the town and the two put their newfound knowledge to the test. This show would just be based on canon lore, there wouldn’t be any mention of the Winchesters or other main characters, although a few MoL team-ups is definitely a possibility. The two become quite a team, tracking werewolf backs on bulletin boards in their basements and hoarding rock salt. How much I need this in my life: 89/10, I think this could be really interesting and I am a sucker for historical hunters.
Speaking of historical hunters-Samuel Colt prequel. Cowboys, vampires, cowpires. Hunting in the wild west, galloping across the prairie chasing a pack of werewolves. This show could also tell us a lot about how different types of monsters spread across the U.S. Ghosts will go anywhere people go, but what about vampires? Shapeshifters? Ghouls? What was it like to hunt without technology to help with research? The hunters in this series would be the authors of the journals that modern hunters use every day. They’re the ones that tested tracking and trapping methods. Again, no idea if this is making sense, but I think that a supernatural western would be really awesome and would expand/substantiate the canon lore. How much I need this in my life: 1000000000000000000000000000000/10, I love cowboys and I love Supernatural. This is literally the best thing that could ever happen to me.
Crowley. I want to know more about him. A series that tells us all about Fergus Roderick MacLeod, starting with when he was born in Scotland and ending with his death in All Along the Watchtower. We know that Rowena was his mother, that he was a tailor, that he sold his soul for an extra three inches ~down there~, and that he was a terrible dad. I want to know more about his childhood, about the people he made deals with, about how he became king of the crossroads and of Hell. Crowley was a very interesting character that was abused by the story. I want to know more about him. How much I need this in my life: 10000000000000000000000000000000000000/10, I really do love Crowley and I would watch this a thousand times over.
Final idea: MOTW only. No season arc, no overall storyline. New hunters every episode, from all different times, from over the world. All kinds of monsters. One episode in Victorian England, the next in 1990s Los Angeles. Very few recurring characters, if any. The recurring characters would be the Bobby Singers of the world; the lore guys that you call when you need help. Each new character has their own style, own car, own music, own personality. The show could have some a m a z i n g guest stars because they’d only appear in a few episodes. There are so many possibilities for episodes, even if they weren’t full length. How much I need this in my life: 100000/10, I love MOTW episodes and would really like to get to know the characters. It would be very easy to write one-off fanfics for this show, and also very easy to introduce this show’s characters into Supernatural’s canon.
You made it to the end!!!!!!!! That’s all I have for now. Sorry for writing so much, I just can’t stop thinking about SPN and all of the wasted stories.

In The Depths of your mind
Gabriel x winchester!reader
Summary: after your life spirled out of control after Gabriel's seeming death the boys take matters of erasing him from your memory, but of course he comes back and is still in love with you but can't do anything about it
Warning: swearing,angst, probably gets a little spicy towards the end?
This is just a guilty pleasure thing I did for myself, also Blame my friend for making me love this ass again
Also this story? Long as all heck like, And sucks booty but ding dang im sorry.
~~~~~
"Stay still!" You yelled at the angle in front of you. "Ok, ok, I'm sorry!"
You grinned up at him and traced your finger across his palm, causing him to squirm again. "Gabriel!" You dropped his hand and fell back into your bed. "I'm sorry! I swear I won't squirm anymore!"
You laughed and pulled him down with you and kissed him. "You ruined the moment dumbass." you muttered before kissing him again. He frowned after pulling away and rested his chin on your chest.
"Sugar, please? I'm dying to know what my future holds!" You hummed in response and played with his hair. "You know what I think?"
He shifted on the bed next to you and rested his head on your shoulder. "What?"
"I think...the future can wait. It's a beautiful afternoon...and I could really use a nap...so why don't we just live in the moment?"
He smiled as you curled up next to him and shut your eyes. "In order to nap your eyes need to be closed, Angel cake." he chuckled and shut his eyes falling asleep with you.
It was weird that's instantly what he thought of after Sam and Dean told him that after he "died" they had castiel erasie him from your memories, meaning you wouldn't know who he was when you walked in through the door, you wouldn't remember the life he gave you for a little while, and he could do nothing about it.
But it pained him even more to hear about how bad your life had spiraled out after he did so. "Just remeber we don't know what could happen if you bring those memories up unexpectedly, so just be careful..."
He nodded slowly still processing everything.
"Boys I'm home!" you yelled from within the bunker. Gabriel perked up in his seat turning to the doorway where you appeared holding three bags, two bags from KFC and one from the grocery store.
Gabriel stopped when he noticed your hair wasn't it's natural color and it was only then he realiesed only part of what had happened to you after he left.
"You must be the person I spent an extra twenty bucks on." you joked as you set the bags down on the table he was still seated at.
"I'm y/n by the way." he stared up at you as you started unpacking the food. Dean came up behind him and hit him slightly shaking him from his gaze. "Gabriel, nice to...nice to meet you."
You looked at him with a smile. "Well Gabriel, dig in!"
You took a seat next to him grabbing some chickens and talking to Sam and Dean about the case You where currently working on.
Gabriel barrely moved the entire time you all sat there talking, he sat there ever so slightly eating the food and glancing at you.
"So what's your deal?" you asked him after you finished, Dean had already set to work on opening the grocery bag full of deserts you picked up.
"What do you mean?" you shrugged.
"Well I don't know You very well....or at all for that matter but the boys here do so?...."
He looked at Sam and Dean across the table as if they where holding poster borards with what to say up. But they gave him the same look.
"Hello?" Sam cleared his throat and began talking. "Gabriel here is...An old hunting buddy of ours and....and came here for a place to stay for a while." You looked at the three men suspiciously.
"Ok well how long-"
"Years...years and years almost too long if you ask me." Dean chimmed in. You looked at Gabriel who flashed you an unconvincing smile.
Yet it was a smile and it sparked something in you causing you to return the guesture. "So tell me about you!" Gabriel said quickly catching both sam, Dean and you off gauird.
"Uh ok? What do you wanna know?" you shrugged crossing your arms and and leaning back in your chair to face him.
"Your hair is interesting." You laughed.
"Strange choice of topic but ok, yea I was feeling bold....thought it was time for a change. So I got up one night ran to the closest convinence store and picked the first color I saw, I stayed up till four in the morning doing it." You laughed.
He laughed lightly with you, he knew that's not really what happened but it was pretty close to something you would do no matter the state.
And then suddenly you where both talking like nothing had changed, you told him about things you liked and did as hobnies, you told him about music you had gotten into and movies you started watching.
You even told him stories of hunts, some scared him and made him worry for you, others impressed him and at somepoints made him laugh when you brought up a funny memory.
And to him it really felt like he hadn't lied to you for year, like he hadn't put you through pain and angony and it felt just almost like you where sitting on the front pouch of the house he stole you away to and talked as the Sun set behind the ocean.
And it felt the same to you, talking to him felt familiar and comfortable, it was like talking to Sam and Dean but times a thousand.
"You alright?" you swallowed thickly and furrowed your brows realising you had infact gone scilent and stared blankly at the table in front of you. "Yea...wow I just...just got lost in thought for a second there." you chuckled.
"Hey you should probably get some sleep." you hummed in response finally noticing Sam and Dean where obviously way ahead of you.
"Yea...uh did they show you where your room is?" you asked while standing up. "Yea I got it." You smiled and headed across the room to find your bedroom.
"Goodnight gabriel, it was nice meeting you." he frowned slightly. "Right...yea nice meeting you too!..."
He stayed there at the table for some time, he let his mind drift from one thing about you to the next, Sam and Dean hadn't told him what exactly happened to you, what you did when he left so he thought about that. When that got to painful he thought back to the house on the beach.
Years and years ago you ran away with him, he promised you a life hunting and being a winchester could have never promised.
He made sure your life took place some where that made you happy and worked hard to make it perfect and as far as he knew it was exactly that to you.
It was a small and quaint little cabin right on the edge of the beach, the beach because he remembered you telling him that never in your life have you been, he included a garden in the back, and your own personal art studio where he remembered watching you sing at along to bon jovie at the top of your lungs while you painted.
And then out in the front of the house there was a hammock tied to the post of the front pouch and a tree and you two would lie there rocking back and fourth lightly during the late afternoon talking and listening to the ocean.
"I thought you said Sam and Dean showed you your room?" Gabriel jumped awake upon hearing your voice. You laughed seeing him do so. "Easy sleeping beauty."
"What time is it?" he asked groggily sitting up. "Eight thirty, thing one and thing two went on a coffee run...what happened to you?"
"I don't know I guess I fell asleep before I could get up."
"Oh really? Is that what happened? You asked sarcastically. You pushed yourself off of the table and headed into the kitchen. "You like sweet things, right?"
He nodded while standing up to strech, but then paused. "How'd you know that?"
You turned slightly stopping yourself. "Uh...you told me didn't you? Last night." he narrowed his eyes trying to think. Maybe he did and he just couldn't remeber.
"Yea..." you smiled and continued into the kitchen. You appeared from the kitchen just in time to see Sam and Dean return with the coffee.
"Welcome home!" you said carrying a dish. "Wha y/n you never cook...what is this?"
You shrugged setting it down. "Cinnamon rolls." you said with a smirk. It didn't take long for Sam and Dean to notice you where acting diffrent now that Gabriel was around you would bring up weird thing, you kept spacing out at times and everything about you had shifted.
And that's exactly what got you hurt on your last hunt with the three of them. So you stayed in the bunker doing reasearch for them while Gabriel stayed and watched over you.
"Hey, I brought something for you to eat." He said pushing open the door. You smiled and sat yourself up slowly, still wincing at the slight movement. You held your side and mustered a smile.
"Hey take it easy, sugar." he set the plate down on the bed stand beside you and looked around the room eyes landing on the small desk and the art that hung on the wall above it.
"How are you holding up?" he asked looking the art closely.
"Uh as good as a person with a cracked rib could be." You responded. He chuckled lightly.
"These...are...amazing!" he said looking at them closely. He took note of the facless figure's with wings who's faces where scribbled out, then the house.
Your house, the one on the beach. "What...What is this?" he asked pointing to it.
"Oh the dream house." You grinned.
"The what?"
"Well being a Winchester and hunting things for a living isn't exactly a dream life...So I've always dreamt of living on this perfect little beach in this cute little house."
He watched as you smiled dreamily and continued explaining exactly what you had, like it was burried deep inside your mind, yet right at the surface of it all.
"And I'd live there with the person I love and we would just spend every day together going to the market near by or laying in the hammock..." you chuckled ever so slightly at the thought.
"But I'm here instead living my best life..." everything was scilent between you for a few moments. Then you shifted on the bed clutching your side. "Hey come here." You said patting the bed in front of you.
He did so and you held your hand out expectantly. "Gimme your hand." He did so a started wriggiling under your touch as you traced the lines on his hand.
"What are-"
"Reading your palm, a friend taught me a while back, Now Sit still dipshit." You giggled. He stopped when you said that breathing out lightly.
"Well lucky you." you stated excitedly. "It looks like..." you started laughing catching him off gauird. "What? What is it?"
"Nothing! Nothing! It's just...I have no idea what I'm doing! I've forgotten what she taught!" you laughed loudly still holding his hand. He grinned and started laughing along with you.
Once you died down you looked at each other quietly for a moment. And then suddenly you had his face in your hands and kissed him deeply, your kissy was needy and despreat, like you where missing it.
He didn't stop you either, he wrapped his arms around your back and deepend the kiss. You discarded your sweater which stopped Gabriel momentarily as he looked at the bandaging around your torso.
"Hey..." you kissed him between your words. "I'm fine."
He gingerly moved his hands down your torso. "I love you." he muttered out against your lips. You hummed kissing him deeply. And suddenly there was a sharp pain in your head and you free back grimcing.
"Y/n?" You scooted back holding your head. "I'm..." you let out a pain filled yelp screwing your eyes shut tightly.
"Y/n what's wrong!?" he moved to touch your arm and as soon as he did your ears where ringing and it felt like someone was pushing your head into a wall slowly, you let out one more scream before Your vision went black.
"Gabe!" Dean grabbed you and pulled you back from the scene in front of you. Gabriel really did his hardest to take down Lucifer but it didn't look so good. Because he had an angel blade deep in the gut of the person you loved.
"Oh no...gabe look." he turned Gabriel around to face you as your brother held you from attacking Lucifer. Tears rimmed your eyes as you struggled to run over to him.
He swallowed thickly as he looked at you. "I'm...I'm...so sorry..." Lucifer pulled the blade from him and let him drop. "Oops."
You let out an angry scream at him before he vanished. You kicked Deans leg hard causing him to loosen his grip.
You ran over to him stopping when you saw the black scorch marks of wings sit on the floor around him. "Fuck, Gabriel!?" you fell to your knees slowly touching him lightly. "Gabe?...Angel?...Angel cakes!? Please!" you shook him slightly hoping that would do it.
"Gabriel you ass! Don't you dare!" when he didn't move you sobbed into his chest. "Y/n...come on...we need to go.." you shook sam away from you. "NO! I should have fucking listened to him! And stayed at home! He gave me a home sam! And now...now he's dead and I...I can't...can't go back home!" they where scilent. "And he didn't say good bye He said I'm sorry....it wasn't his fault..."
Suddenly your eyes snapped open and it felt like the wind was knocked from you, tears slid down your face, and You breathed heavily looking up at the consirened Angel in front of you. "Y/n?" he asked carefully.
"What the hell..." You breathed finally. He furrowed his brows. "YOUR DEAD! YOUR FUCKING DEAD!" you yelled getting up quickly.
"Wait, y/n-"
"I...I went through hell and now your...your back!?" you grabbed your sweater pulling it on. You stumbled, your head was still burning and your side ached.
"Y/n stop let me explain-"
"Fuck you gabriel! I trusted you! I loved you and and you faked your death I assume...and What where you doing? Huh? Off with some slutty pornstars!?"
The angrier you got the more your head started reeling digging up memories you'd lost after that, putting the pieces together. "Get out."
"What?"
"GET OUT I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU!" you yelled pinching the bridge of your noise holding back tears. "No we should talk-"
"Gabriel." you said flatly, glaring up at him. He looked down and quickly left the room. You followed slamming the door shut. He stood there for a little bit and soon enough heard you sobbing. "I'm sorry..." you heard him mumble. Outside the door. You stopped and just burried your head in your arms chocking on sobs trying to ignore the memories that where lost that started flooding your head.
When he got no response he sighed and took a seat outside your door hoping you would open it and let him explain or help.
I've been reading this post most of the morning since I followed link after link and, huh.. I'm still thinking about it, trying to keep my thoughts from running so I can actually write more than "This is one of the main missing links I've never reached by just thinking about universes, souls, Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, The Empty while watching Spn. Thank you so much for this, Min!". Here I go..
I apologize in advance for the scattered questions along this yarn of thoughts. This us probably a better place for them than slicing my train of thoughts below and pasting them in your asks.
The universe functions within the heavens. The other way around.. Boxes in a cage that isn't a place at all but part of a universe within the heavens, the souls are Chuck, lives within life, "He's happy to hide behind whatever religion has the best syndication deal." as Fortuna said and as you said that he's the demiurge religions call God. A mind of many, he built himself in the framework so it can keep ticking as you pointed out what canon showed us, Min. Huuuuh, I feel as if I'm staring at a puzzle that has way way more progress now than when I got stuck. You've said it before that souls can't be destroyed unless they do that themselves or by destroying each other, the ones Amara ate live on in her which has me realize that Chuck depowered her to keep her out of his life (life? Is this the right term in this case?) which has me wondering if this is a likely possibility for Chuck's more permanent time-out unless sth else happens of course. Do you see it possible?
Death is an infinite vessel, The Shadow in The Empty existed before Chuck and Amara-also an infinite vessel. Hm, do these two have it in them to have order and balance or is it simply them being part of sth even bigger than them somehow? They aren't Chuck's puppets although he did control Death once.
Chuck is The Mind, has created the first Thought Box, explains a lot.
I've been exploring the "thought box-except I saw it like a pocket dimension thing where you're in your memories but not physically (unless we can say that souls are physical but in the sense of existence not as having a physical shape to live in... I'll stop here before I continue while you probably understood what I mean, hah), the door is what doesn't add up, is weird or is just incorrect" in my drafts, tapped around without getting there to understand this the way I didn't grasp at all. Now it makes sense. I've made the mistake of seeing Heaven as a place because portals lead to places... Every soul has its thought box, but not all have the same one of course since.. Wait.. Does that make Hell a thought box too? It does, doesn't it? Chuck's afterlife sandbox of torture.
*keeps Chuck's propaganda away from returning any soon* Souls, of course.. We're real: people, family, friends, love, our experience, all we did or refrained from doing despite those being Chuck's distractions, all that makes us how we are also makes us real. All beings that have a soul as well, right?
So Chuck could be unplugged from controlling them without creating damage with it.. Before this question runs from me again I'll type it while it seems fresh. If the core of the framework stops ticking, according to that is it possible for the creations to go on or do they stop existing (well, unless whoever's powerful enough destroys them)?
Mhm, open all doors, don't collapse Earth, Heaven will fall, no Chuck's influence, a better world. CAN'T WAIT!
If you asked me before S12 how the final season could go, you'd get a bitter answer. Whenever I saw the hopeful note it usually got slammed by certain quotes of the show that I bought unfortunately, thanks to my fears etc. I've binged most of the show, as you know already, which also means that my troubles, traumas, pain and the rest of the baggage weren't having fun with all the connections realizations etc and it shows, hah. I wasn't in a good place when I binged. Can't wait to rewatch the show more than the last two seasons, eventually.. Last two? Really me? Ow.
Back to the topic.. Yeah, equality, less control, feeling confined by not being alone and free to do what he does "in peace", the writer's block, being frustrated by a certain story not going his way repeatedly and anyone being powerful enough to be considered yet another bug to his program is what Chuck can't stand. So if I'm getting this right, Chuck and Amara form some sort of balance just by existing. Both are able to lock each other up, both can hurt each other yet supposedly (unless Chuck lied which is a possibility) there's no one without the other. What are your thoughts re Amara when it comes to stopping Chuck (since we know she'll talk with TFW)? Think she'll help in any way, just watch him make it worse for himself or maybe even protect him to an extent?
And another question.. Do you think they (Amara and Chuck) mirror any story (lets say within Chuck's creations) of siblings which could hint us how it'll go for them? At the end of the day Chuck's obsession remains to be one sibling killing the other-life & death, the righteous man, along with: light & dark, good & evil, peace & war, family & lack of it, right & wrong, human & monster, destiny & free will, obstacles & sacrifices, fight for equality & authorities doing their thing. I feel like it reflects what he wanted to do, but without doing it for real, so he wrote and wrote, changed a few details while keeping her locked within his creation(s) and in a way in himself. (Did I just overthink this? *cringes*)
Been writing this almost all day, oops..
That heaven meta you wanted
And a little more on souls, but I already have a 40 page meta on that topic in particular.
So someone asked if I had heaven meta, and I pointed out yes, but littered through many other topics involving things like souls, false duality, absence, the One True Thing and whatever else in my crazy-ass pagan life tag.
So the first cue here is to absolutely stop thinking of heaven as a place. The beginning mental exercise in abstraction is to apply two things.
One from Dabb’s Dark Side of the Moon: It’s “A bunch of places.” also, from 15.13, I want people to niche talk of the Occultum. It’s a Place, and a Thing. It doesn’t exist in any particular created space, but rather, outside of a particular space.
I find that in our training to think inside three dimensional space and linear time, certain details of all of this get lost. The one “place” to consider will be the Axis Mundi, and “The Garden.” – the Axis Mundi as the road of thought that ties it together, perceived as a white hall by angels or anything from a river (like Styx) or a road (for Dean) to man. Just like in DSOTM, “for some it’s god’s throne, for others it’s Eden” at the “center of it all”. Angels perceive god’s throne. The Winchesters perceived a garden, they just perceived a different garden than Jack’s baby brain. Yes, I am implying the occultum is essentially the same place as god’s throne despite the absence of angels, and even that paradox is something I’m going to touch on inside this.
Now before I get into making everyone have to think like delirious stoners, I’m going to share with you one delightful mental image of, in DSOTM, Zachariah actually sighting Dean toot tooting down a white hallway floating on an invisible car only he perceives.
Okay, now, to the real meat of this.
Keep reading
hey, i saw your post where you mentioned hoping to convince fans returning to the show to reconsider moffat's era, and i was wondering if you have any posts you'd suggest reading on that note? i'm one of those fans and am willing to reconsider but am not sure where to find comprehensive meta
Hello!
Well, more than any of us blathering on about the show, I’d say let it argue for itself. In particular, I recommend watching 2015′s three-parter of Face the Raven/Heaven Sent/Hell Bent, which is in my mind the finest feminist triumph in this show’s history and a damn good tale to boot, probably my favorite Doctor Who story. Basically, it sets up a mighty story of fridging angst and then swerves aside for an ode to women’s agency. It’s wonderful. @whovianfeminism called it “the most explicitly feminist call-out of the Doctor’s behavior I have ever seen,” and people often cynical toward Moffat even offered opinions like “For me, and I am not a Moffat fan in general (as those who read my blog will know), I thought Hell Bent was very satisfying, and definitely showed the character of Clara Oswald the respect she is owed.” (x)
Probably the most divisive element to the late Moffat era and what many people new to or returning to it might struggle with is Clara. She’s a complicated character, and people who love her generally love her for how she’s allowed to be a complicated and flawed equal to the Doctor. The first hurdle people often experience with her is the “impossible girl” arc. A common critique in the early backlash to Moffat was that he treats women as sexy plot devices, but this whole arc is a subversion of that. It’s just easy to miss because it’s a story through the Doctor’s perspective about him reducing her to a mystery.
Rather conveniently, we meta writers no longer need to spell that out (though we have on several occasions), because Moffat’s come along and said it himself. "The idea of ‘the Impossible Girl’ is because that name in no way applies to her properly. The Doctor thinks she’s impossible and then discovers she’s a perfectly real person, a perfectly ordinary person. His disposition is to treat people like puzzles to be deconstructed and what he learns in dealing with Clara is he was dealing with a real human being and if he’d picked up on that earlier they would have been better friends quicker. So that’s what ‘the Impossible girl’ is, it doesn’t exist, she’s just Clara Oswald." (x) @abossycontrolfreak writes some amazing meta on Clara and, as I recall, was able to basically work out her ending because of it.
From there, her arc revolves around her becoming more and more flawed and complicated and like the Doctor, but this is rather spelled out, honestly, within the episodes. Flatline, for example, has her running round with sonic in hand calling herself the Doctor while the Doctor is locked up and advising her over a communications device, and Death in Heaven has her proclaim herself to be the Doctor in the pre-titles, which then teasingly put Jenna Coleman’s name first and replace Capaldi’s eyes in the titles with hers. Her story arc, in essence, is a girl asking why she can’t be the Doctor, too. And the answer her arc eventually provides is that she can. I’ll leave specific pieces of meta recommendations to the reblogs, I can’t keep track of all of them! There’s many good ones.
Another big thing with Moffat that tend to rub people the wrong way is a tendency to tease certain stories but deliver other ones. It’s a common trick I basically take for granted at this point, but many don’t (and gosh, the week between World Enough and Time and The Doctor Falls was a mess as a result, I did keep saying there was no reason to panic about Bill but people didn’t listen...). Usually, this involves teasing a big, continuity-encompassing epic before scaling down to the more intimate character-driven story that’s needed. Doctor Who scholar @philsandifer terms it “narrative substitution.” Here’s the piece he did on that, though he’s got plenty of other good scholarly work about all sorts of corners of Doctor Who. So basically, set your expectations to the story teasing you about what story it is going to tell, because that’s the real question Moffat’s era repeatedly asks you. What story is it really all going to be? Every time, really, it’s one about the companions and their lives and agency. They’ll be put through the wringer first, of course, but they will come out triumphant.
As for the man himself, well, there’s a few things to note. I mapped out his position as I see it in the ideological discourse of Doctor Who here (1) (2). Might even need to do a third part in light of this Doctor casting. There are many interviews from him that are taken out of context, such as the “women are needy” one, in which he was talking about the perspective of a sexist character on his sitcom, Coupling. But beyond that, he’s just generally very sarcastic, and that can lead to some unfortunate out of context soundbites flying around. So while he’s on many occassions supported a woman Doctor (x) (x) and mentioned that the show is written to support that and make it possible, you’ve probably seen none of that and tons of references to his crappy joke about the queen becoming a man.
I hope this more or less covers it. I am so entrenched in picking apart this stuff that I take a lot of it for granted, so if you need any further explanation for your understanding, please let me know.
