I am beyond sick of Steve. Moving in together was a mistake, I don’t care how cheap the rent is, he is a narcissistic slob and I am eager to never see him again. Well no, I shouldn’t get ahead of myself. Our R.A. had this idea to try and walk in each other's shoes, which I don’t know? It might not be the worst thing? My big idea was switching diets actually- honestly I’m just hoping if he ate more like me he’ll stop stinking up the dorm. I can dream at least. Literally though he just can’t go to the gym as often if he eats like me. If I'm lucky at the very least his deodorant will last longer, I cannot take another day of his b.o. seeping through the walls, ugh! Anyway, wish me luck! hey guys update time. this was honestly coming pretty soon, but not being on tumblr the past couple of days made me realize that i need another break. this was actually probably going to happen some time this month anyway due to this week being hella busy and also bc i’ll be starting school again. 

i also really just want to write without much distraction and tumblr has become just that without it meaning to. so i’ll probably be less active for a while and post infrequently. edit: it’s the 22nd now so I’ll be able to post a bit but still like it says before this, just infrequently.

so one of the other main reasons that i’m taking time off from tumblr is that it really overwhelmed as i mentioned in a prev vent post. if you didn’t read it i basically said that seeing the (for me) overwhelming amount of support and understanding of the struggle for interacting with ccs actually did the opposite for me and overwhelmed me along with making me feel supported. it began to be too much as it was the ONLY THING BEING REBLOGGED ON MY BLOG. none of my fics were even noticed anymore and recently they’ve only gotten likes anyway, since deleting that post to ease my anxiety, none of my fics have been reblogged (literally, there has been zero reblogs in my notifs). it all became too much to the point i deleted tumblr off my phone. i know to some of you this may be a silly reason to be overwhelmed but for me it caused me a lot of stress and anxiety and made me overall feel really weird about my whole blog for a moment. like “should i keep writing these fics?” or “why am i posting at all?” and i hated feeling like that. so i had to put a hard stop on everything.

in the end it was the best thing for me and so i know that taking a break from here is also a much needed thing in my life right now. i just want to write my stories in peace and just enjoy them without the worry of the effects of social media and so on and so forth. 

as for any fic updates. i will still occasionally come on here to update my wip trackers as that is a personal thing i’m doing for myself. you can check my wip trackers in my navi if you’re curious about them. my main focus is to write my remaining collabs that you should expect to see posted in october for halloween, and the next part of gold and silver is also a priority of mine. as for tenth feather and dragon dahlia (my other two wip trackers) those will be done in time as well as they are not my focus tho you may not see them till the end of the year or so. my updates with fics will be slower right now so please do not expect anything. i am considering opening requests as a way to celebrate the blogs 2 year anniversary but that is not guaranteed, it’ll all depend on how i gauge my business for this semester.

With covid comes quarantine, which you spent with your boyfriend Tom, Harry, Harrison and Tuwaine. Living with four guys was weird and new for you, likewise it was weird for them living with a girl after so long of just themselves, but you got it to work.

Quarantine had been going on for so long, and it was hard to fill out the time, so it easily got bored. You and the boys did a lot of golfing, puzzles and of course drinking. You got less and less things to do, so one day you decided to dowload TikTok to see what all of the hype was about it. TikTok became one of your favorites ways of soending time, and you quckly became addicted. To be real, who isn't addicted to TikTok? The boys aren't. Harrison and Harry both have a TikTok account, but doesn't use them anymore. Tom had Musicaly, but never TikTok. And Tuwaine, didn't have either.

You had seen a lot of fun pranks, challenges, and overall trends, tho you had never tried any. You hadn't posted a single video yet, so no one new about your account.

Today was Valentines day, you hadn't planned that much. At the start of the day, you had celebrated Harry and Sam's 22nd birthday. Sam had come over the day before, so the twins could celebrate together. You had baked them a cake, and decorated with some ballons, but it was a very chill birthday, not much happened.

You were scrolling on TikTok, when you came across this prank, were the person would ask strangers if they wanted a kiss, but it was chocolate kiss and not a real kiss. (I know it's an old one, but whatever, it's still good.) Why not do that to the boys. You thought to yourself.

You got up from your seat, and went into the larder cupboard, were you knew you had some "kisses". You first took one and put it in the pocket of Tom's hoodie, that you were wearing.

You went into the garden, where you knew Harry and Haz were, doing there usual golf tricks. You got outside, placed your phone up against a plant on the outdoors table, and you pressed play on your normal camera, you were just gonna edit the clips together later on. You then went over to the boys, waiting for them to finish. They failed.

"Harry I know it's your birthday and all, but can you go inside for just a moment?" He was confused but went inside. Your plan was to do Haz and Tuwaine alone, Harry and Sam together, since yeah, and then Tom at last. So first Haz.

"Everything okay?" He asked confused, but also scared. You dragged him closer to the camera, but not too close so he would notice, thinking they would show their actual reaction without knowing it's filmed. Before you got to answer, Haz spoke again. "Are you gonna break up with Tom or something, and you are just asking me how to? Cuz I get if you wanna break up, Tom is a baby and a lot to deal with, to be real I have no idea how you do it. But if you are, I can't help you, and I would say, do it tomorrow, cuz it's mean to do it on Valentines da-"

"I'm not breaking up with Tom, I just have a question to ask you." His body language compleatly changes.

"Ok wassup?" He asked chill.

"You want a kiss?" Aaaand, no more chill. His eyes fully open. "Do you want a kiss?" He was in shock and didn't answer you, so you asked again. "Do you want a kiss from me?"

"No!" And with that, you pulled the "kiss" out from your pocket and waved with it, close to his face, making him laugh.

"To bad for you." Haz keot laughing, as you went up to grab your phone.

"You filmed it? Why?"

"It's a TikTok trend/prank thing. I'm gonna do it on all the boys."

A couple of hours later, you were in the living room, just you, Haz, and Tuwaine. Tom went to the bathroom, and the twins went to Harry's room, when they got a call from their parents. So now was the perfect time to get Tuwaine. You looked over at Haz, and give him the eyes, to let him know. You went to your camera, and tossed you phone over to Haz, so he could film.

You stood up and went in front of Tuwaine, sho was looking at his phone. He then looked up at you confused.

"You want a kiss?" You asked, and like Haz, his eyes widdened with in seconds. He looked over at Haz, as if he asked if he heard right. Haz played it like he didn't hear anything, and kept looking at my phone, filming.

When Tuwaine then looked back at you, he asked if he heard right, and you just asked again. "Do you want a kiss?"

"Is that how you're gonna break up with Tom? Cheat on him? Cuz that's kinda genius, but rude at the same time." You laughed a little, and you could see Haz, at the corner of your eyes, trying to hold in his laugh.

"No I'm not breaking up with Tom, I just asked if you wanted a kiss."

"Then no, I don't want a kiss." You once again pulled the kiss out from your pocket. Then Tuwaine got it, and laughed along with you and Haz.

You explained everything, and right as you were done, Tom walked back in.

You and Tom were cuddled up on the couch together, when you heard footsteps, meaning Harry and Sam had finished their call, which meant, now their turn to get a "kiss".

Before they could get down you quckly got up, leaving Tom sad, but he was fine. You walked up the stairs and down the hall with long steps, and when you finally reached the twins you pulled them back into their room, which all made them very confused. You couldn't hide it anywhere, without them knowing they were being filmed, so you had pressed the record button on your way up the stairs, and you would just be pointing you phone up to them, so you could still see their reaction.

"What was that?" They both said confused in synch, whuch you lightly laughed at.

"I just have to ask you guys something."

"For the best way to break up with Tom?" Harry said like he was just waiting for that moment.

"Why does everyone think I'm gonna break up with Tom?" You said low so they didn't quite hear it. "No. Just a normal simple question."

"What is it then?"

"Do you guys want a kiss?" Like the other boys, their eyes widened, and they looked confused at eachother, before turning back to you, both having their eyebrows almost clued up to their forheads in schok.

"Do you guys want a kiss?"

"Ew! No!" Harry exclaimed, Sam right after.

"Oh, I thought you guys liked chocolate." You said and showed them the two "kisses". And you all started laughing, especially Harry, while Sam mostly just shook his head.

"I have done it on Haz and Tuwaine too, noe there is just Tom left." You explained everything, and went downstairs, Tom obviously asked, sadly, why you left him, and went to the twins, the other goys knew why, but couldn't tell, so you simply said you needed to use the bathroom.

A while later, and you were still all in the living room. Tom had gone up to grab a beer, and that's when you quckly got a new "kiss" and gave your phone again to Haz. Tom got back on the couch, arms open ready to cuddle with you again, but you didn't fall into them. You sat opposite him and began.

"Tom I have a question." He looked at you, with a face, asking if everything was ok. You nodded.

"Wassup babe?" He tried to go in for a hug, but you again regeted it, which made him sad.

"Do you want a kiss?" He grinned right as the words came out of your mouth, and pulled you in for a hug.

"I would like that very much." He then pulled away from the hug, to give you a kiss. But as he leaned in, you placed your hand on his lips, and pushed him away, which made him really confused.

"What?"

"I asked if you wanted a kiss, not a kiss." You laughed a little, finding the "kiss" a giving him the chocolate piece, then to make him even more sad, you got up from the couch, and went up the stairs.

"Babe!" He yelled after you. "Come back right now!" It wasn't hard to hear how annoyed of your actions he were. "I WANT MY KISS!" He yelled even louder while running upstairs to you, while all the boys gave into a party of laughter, and Haz made sure to get it all on camera. It was really the funny highlight of the day.

Haz ended the video, but didn't want to go upstairs, just in case. But really he had nothing to worry about, cuz right after you were running downstairs again, Tom following behind.

"Just give me a kiss!" He yelled at you, he really wanted that kiss so bad, but you loved teasing him.

"No!" You plopped yourself down on the couch, and reached out for your phone. "Did you get it?" You asked Haz refering to the video.

"It was amzing."

"What was amazing?" Tom asked as he sat down besides you, hugging into your side.

"Oh Haz filmed it, it's for TikTok. I did it on everyone." You explained. You all eatched the videos trough, they were amazing, and you knew it would be good. You then got on TikTok and clipped the videos into one. You watched it a couple of times trough, before posting it with the caption: "Why do they all think, I want to break up with Tom? 😂"

"Happy Valentines day, my love." You said to Tom, finally giving him the kiss.

Hello Anon! I have a couple things to say to this, 1) I’m currently tipsy cos my friends and I were hanging out and I’m finally allowed alcohol after being sober for the last 3 years. So if I seen all over the place or don’t make sense, that why.

2) I’m still VERY active in the CM fandom, but I realize that it might not look like that outwardly since my activity has been taking place in smaller spaces/private DMs with people.

3) My Twitter rn is currently only for Hannibal, but I have been considering making a second one that’s Criminal Minds only. I just don’t know if I’ll be able to jump back and forth between them all the time without mixing them up, lol!

4) I’m not 100% sure what you mean about me not being active in the server? If you mean today (Sunday, May 22nd—even tho it’s the 23rd now whoops), then I wasn’t on Discord at all cos I was busy with real life things. Summer is on the way, quarantine is “over,” and I’m not locked in my home 24/7 anymore. I’m officially finished with my chemo; the benign tumor that was in my brain has shrunk, so I can finally get a job again (I haven’t worked a “real job” since January 2021), and I can hang out with my friends and family again. (I still wear masks when appropriate, and I’m fully vaccinated, but we’re “allowed” to be normal again, you know?).

But I can promise I’ve been in the server every single day, even if only once or twice to check in and make sure everything’s fine. I have a life outside of Discord and Tumblr, too.

Plus I’ve had a new puppy since the beginning of April, and he takes up the majority of my time while I’m training and caring for him. We’re actually about to get him properly trained to be a therapy dog, since my own therapist (and everyone else who meets him) says he would be perfect for it with his calm and friendly personality!

And, also, Twitter is fun. I’ve made new friends, found a fun new community among the Hannibal fandom, and I greatly enjoy how I can check my Twitter feed for only a couple min between my errands and still feel like I’m apart of the “conversations” there. Meanwhile here on tumblr, I need to set aside a whole hour or so for what I do (and I only use tumblr on desktop, for reasons I’ve explained before, unless I’m just checking my notifs).

I’m sorry that you feel I’ve left the fandom, or I’m inactive, but I also think I’m allowed to “take a break” from fandom things if I need to. While the CM fandom was getting a lot of hate anons, harassers, stalkers, and was dealing with A LOT of drama, the Hannibal fandom welcomed me with open arms and the friends I’ve made helped me feel safe while I was still sick and healing.

I have a whole timetable setup with plans for fun Criminal Minds based things I want to do this summer (including celebrations for milestones, watch parties, etc), but I just need to *get* to that point.

Hyperfixations come and go over time. I can’t really control if my fixation for Criminal Minds ends up fading, but I can promise that for now, it’s still going strong! I’m just ALSO having fun with the Hannibal fandom (think of it as my new shiny toy, I guess, lol! Criminal Minds is my favorite and always will be, but it’s exciting to be apart of something new).

My Hero Academia OCs

Maeko - November 22nd. She doesn't mind celebrating it, she just won't go out of her way to throw a party for herself or anything.

Shizune - September 28th. She doesn't remember the last time anyone put in the effort to actually have something to remind them of her birthday, and she usually feels a little uncomfortable if someone tries to do more than a small gift or a celebratory outing.

Kazuki - July 4th. Little mans loves celebrating his birthday. Unfortunately, in his younger years, it would have been too dangerous for him to have a birthday party, but as soon as it's safe enough for him to get out of protective custody, he finds out he's allowed to throw huge, and extravagant birthday parties, and even years later in his life, he's still throwing parties any chance he can.

Shiho - January 7th. Just give her a little gift and wish her a happy birthday, just don't throw her a party. She once hid from a surprise party she knew her cousin was throwing for her because she didn't want to deal with it.

Star Wars OCs

Because the Star Wars Galactic calendar is not something I wanna deal with, you're getting the season they were born in on their planet of origin. Though, all of these are Togrutas from Shili, so not a whole lot of variation.

Ceka Lo - Her birthday is in the early winter on Shili, and it's a miracle she and her sister survived, also with being a premature birth. Ceka doesn't celebrate her birthday, largely because it's so rare that someone in the Empire cares enough to even wish her a happy birthday. But her friend Kallus from the ISB training days, will usually send a small gift whenever he can. It's usually a day or two late because galactic shipping isn't always reliable. Thrawn knows the Shilian calendar, and he may spare her some responsibilities, or even offer a gift of his own.

Juna Lo - She's Ceka's twin sister, so they were born at the same time. She likes to throw a small brunch with her friends, and hopefully get Ceka there too of she can get any time off.

Niiva Lo - Ceka and Juna's eldest sister was born in the middle of the summer on Shili. She doesn't really mind when people celebrate her birthday, but as the leader of the Lo tribe, her birthday sort of became a tribe-wide holiday, and she let's people party as they wish. She'll supply the event, and let anybody join the celebration. Niiva likes to see her people happy above all else.

Cirra Lo - Middle of the autumn at the height of hunting season. Everybody seems to understand that they don't really like to celebrate their birthday. Not at all. To them, because they're a member of the royal Lo family, they don't like the idea of their birthday being widely celebrated by the whole tribe. So they don't really celebrate it themself.

Taaka Lo - Dude's lucky if he even remembers he was born in the early spring. He just doesn't care. If someone wants to remind him that it's his birthday, then he's happy about it, he's not gonna do anything with that information tho.

Onahgi Lomehkt - Also early spring. She's shy, so she won't be the one to tell anyone if they don't ask. But she will be very happy if someone remembers and gives her a little gift or throws a surprise party for her.

Devoan - January 11th. She's surprised if someone remembers her birthday, and if she doesn't know them, she might wonder how the fuck they found out, but she'll be happy to recieve gifts and birthday wishes. Maybe don't throw a party for her with more than five or six people total, her social battery is always running low as is.

Minute - She doesn't know her birthday. It's not like there was anyone to tell it to her. I will say however, she's a Taurus. But because Mita oesn't know it, she doesn't celebrate it.

Pepper - January 31st. There's not exactly a whole lot of birthday celebrations going around the undercity, but when she was younger, Pepper and Sevika used to go out to eat, and find a gambling house and cheat at cards for fun. To this day, they've never been caught.

Sketch - April 4th. Yes I know that's today, but I promise I'm not making these up on the spot. Maybe next year I'll do an event for her birthday. But Sketch is quite a bit like her mother, in the way she likes to keep it on the downlow, and you can't really tell she's on some special birthday shenanigans instead of regular shenanigans with a little extra spice.

Mystique - October 30th. She won't be the one to tell anyone her birthday, but she will treat herself on her birthday to something expensive and beautiful. If you offer her a gift, it better be good if you want her to keep it.

Rihzo - October 3rd. She's happy to recieve birthday wishes and gifts and if your a friend of hers. She might invite you to a small get together for a celebration. Though, don't blame her if she just wants to get drunk. She doesn't give herself that opportunity very often.

Mania - March 29th. Birthdays are special to her, and she loved celebrating them, just usually only with one other person to get into some trouble with. Perfect gift for her is definitely some fireworks.

Aneliya - Technically it's Febuary 29th. Her sister likes to joke with her that she actually only ages every four years. But she and her family always spend birthdays together, and occasionally, they'll invite some friends over for a birthday dinner outing.

Hi, timeline anon again. :) I just wanted to clarify a thing or two because I think I didn't express myself well enough. When I talked about Jungkook posting his brother's dogs on January 1st I actually meant in his Instagram story.

This one. The picture he posted on his feed is old for sure. His lip piercing is missing. But the one in the story could be new though. And this couch seems very similar to the one from the pictures his brother posted that were tagged with Busan.

But I also think that Jungkook lives with his brother. Maybe the main reason is Bam because Jungkook definitely needs someone to look after him when he has schedules. And as far as I know only Jungkook's brother lives in Seoul while the rest of their family is still in Busan.

So if the pictures are recent, that would mean Jungkook was in Busan around New Year's. <3

If my timeline is somehow correct, we wouldn't know about Jimin's whereabouts between December 22nd until January 10th. And then again from January 18th until... well. Now. :D

For Jungkook we don't know where he was between December 16th and around New Year's. Then he was most likely in Seoul. Until January 21st. After that we once again don't know where he was until January 28th where he was in Busan.

There's quite a lot of time we know nothing about. It's absolutely possible that Jimin and Jungkook were together during the holidays in Busan. And maybe Jimin stayed in Busan after and Jungkook returned to Seoul because he might have had schedules? Like recording? Jimin probably returned shortly before the Samsung schedule and it's possible that Jimin and Jungkook then spent some time in Seoul together before Jungkook went to Busan. Maybe Jimin went too. Or wanted to go too but didn't because he maybe already felt a little bit sick?

Obviously everything is speculation and saying they didn't see each other at all is as valid as saying that they did. We'll need to wait and see if they say something about their break like last time once they're all back.

Yep, Bam is for me too one of the reasons he's most probably living with his brother. Maybe I wasn't paying attention to that before, or maybe it really wasn't there but I think it's been pretty obvious since last year that JK grew closer to his brother? And he has all this photos with his brother's dogs... they do spend some time together, more than they what they seemed to spend years back.

Between the 22nd December and 10th January, considering Christmas and New Years, and assuming Jimin actually celebrates those, he definitely didn't travel those days. So he was either in Busan or Seoul. After January 18th tho, he most likely could've travelled some more. He got sick on the weekend of Lunar New Year, and as far as my understanding goes, it's a holiday to spend with family for sure, probably even more important than 31st of December, and definitely more important than Christmas. So Jimin could've been with family during those days, whether in Busan or Seoul. As for now... he most definitely stayed at least a couple of days in bed after being released from the hospital. Most likely with his family, too. If his family is what any POC family is, they picked him up from the hospital and drove straight home and tucked him into bed lmao. I kinda believe that those couple of nights he was on weverse, he was still resting. He's probably completely fine by now, tho.

All of the above could apply to Jungkook, too. Except for the being in the hospital part, of course. Boxing vids were posted on the 11th and 26th of January. I think it's safe to say those were taken those same days, or the day before but I don't think they were that old, so he was probably in Seoul during those days.

When you put it like that, we actually know more about Jimin than we know about JK lmao. There's less "gaps" in Jimin's timeline. It felt like we haven't heard of him in ages but it wasn't that much, just a couple of weeks. With JK, there's like a whole month left to fill in. The optical illusions of social media.

Yep, agree that is valid to say they haven't met as well as it is to say they probably met. I wonder if there will be any opportunity to talk about it, since it's been such a long break and because who knows what they'll do once it's over.

A/N: Title from the song Unapologetically by Kelsea Ballerini. This is my first chaptered fic in a long time and my first written on here, so please be kind. This fic is based off a set of very vivid reoccurring dreams I’ve had over the last couple of months that involve Cale and like the true psycho I am, I wrote the big things that happened in those dreams down. Then I decided recently to just turn it to a fic, so this is pretty self-indulgent. Is it possibly narcissistic of me to write a fic about me? Maybe, but I’m gonna write it anyway. This first chapter is gonna be a lil boring and weird because it has a lot of time skips but Chapter 2 will be much more exciting and way better

Tatyana “Taty” Marie Ventura or “Ace” as she is now being known as, never thought that when she started a podcast in the comfort of her Rhode Island home, that she would kind of blow up. Taty started the Ace of Hockey podcast because she wanted a career in hockey media and wanted to do it her way, being unapologetically herself. She started the podcast and started messaging hockey players and other athletes in hopes that they would come onto the podcast to talk about diversity and inclusion in the sport.

That’s how she finds herself on an early October evening receiving a message from Cale Makar on how he’s a fan of the podcast. She internally screams because she never thought an actual hockey player would listen to the podcast. She assumed only hockey fans would listen to the podcast and that it would never reach the notoriety of other hockey podcasts.

She doesn't know how to keep the conversation because she's awkward and just lets the dm sit there. She turns her attention to the latest hockey news and figuring out who's gonna be her next guest for the podcast.

A few hours later, she sees a follow request on her personal IG account and not the podcast account. She sees it's from Cale and is confused on why he would want to follow her personal account. She barely posts stuff about the podcast on there and uses it more to keep up with family with the occasional posts promoting the podcast and the guests. She accepts the request and doesn't think anything of it.

A few days later, she notices that he's been liking her posts and viewing her stories. He's been seeing her interact with family and friends and she still doesn't understand why he cares enough to keep up with her personal account. It starts becoming weird when he adds her on snapchat.

She sends him a dm on instagram to make sure it's actually him and not someone pretending to be him.

She doesn't know how to respond to that right away so she opens up other messages and posts updates on her work on her story. She goes back to the messages and starts typing a response, not wanting to leave him on read forever.

She blinks multiple times not knowing if the message was actually real. After blinking several times, she realizes the message was real and she lets out a squeal. Is he actually flirting with her? She pinches herself because she must be dreaming. There's no way her favorite hockey player and crush is flirting with her. Shit like that doesn't happen to her! She has zero game and has been on a grand total of zero dates in her life. She has had zero boyfriends and girlfriends in her life, so this is something brand new for her.

Maybe she's reading it wrong? Maybe he's just being polite and isn't actually flirting. She decides it's better not to stress it and just go with the flow. 

That's how she approaches the next couple of weeks with her pumping out content for her podcast, working her actual day job, and working on her social media game for the podcast. She also dms tons of people she sees as potential guests on the podcast. 

Her conversations with Cale become more frequent as she eventually finds herself sending him snaps daily. He actually feels comfortable enough to comment on her posts on her personal IG page now and she honestly doesn't know how this is all even real.

Like before she's not stressing it and is going with the flow. However, on the day of Cale's 22nd birthday, she gets hit with a message that causes her to freak out a little.

From: Cale Makar

Hey, is it cool if I got your number? It's much easier if I can just text you. I like you and want to keep getting to know you more

She hyperventilates because she has never had another human being shoe this much interest in her, her whole life. She pinches herself to make sure it's real and it really is real. Cale Makar actually asked for her number. She doesn't know if she should be jumping for joy or preparing for something to go wrong. This is completely uncharted waters for her and she doesn't know if she should go with her heart or her mind. Her mind is telling her not to do it, but her heart is telling her to do it. After a minute, she decides to go with her heart.

To: Cale Makar

Yeah, that's totally cool! (xxx-xxx-xxxx)

She sees a text from an unknown number a minute later pop up on her phone

She saves the number under the name "Cale 🥰" and types out a response

She focuses on getting ready for Halloween, which also happens to be her sister's birthday. Her sister is turning 21 this year and she wants to make the most of it, even in the midst of a pandemic. They plan on going to Salem, Massachusetts with family and throwing a little party at a cousin's house in Brookline, Massachusetts. She sees Cale post pictures and videos on his Snapchat story of him and his family celebrating his birthday. She sees all his teammates wishing him a happy birthday on Instagram and Twitter.

As she’s getting ready to go to bed that night, she gets a video call from Cale.

“Hello?” she asks, not knowing why he would be calling her.

“Ace!” he shouts, causing her to cringe slightly.

“How’s your birthday going?” she asks.

“Great! I’m with my brother and some buddies from back home! We got a bonfire going on right now!” he explains, showing off the fire and his brother and friends.

She wants the ground to swallow her whole because she looks absolutely disgusting with her hair tied up in a bun, and old URI sweatpants and an URI sweatshirt on. She has no makeup on and she’s pretty sure she has some acne on her face.

“Hey Ace! I’m Taylor, Cale’s brother!” Taylor shouts in excitement.

She can clearly tell that he’s buzzed, as well as Cale.

“Hey Taylor,” she smiles, waving at him politely.

His buddies also introduce themselves and she can tell that they’re also slightly buzzed. A part of her hopes that they aren’t driving and are gonna make it back home safely whether tonight or the following day.

“You should come!” one of his friends suggests.

“I’d love to but I live in America and the border is still closed,” she replies, feeling slightly awkward.

“It’s a shame! I know Cale really misses his girl right now!” another friend chimes in, causing her to almost choke on her wine.

“I’m not his-”

“He won’t stop talking about you! He’s got it bad for you!” another friend adds, causing her to blush even more.

If the ground would swallow her up right now, that would be amazing because she can't believe the shit that she’s hearing right now. She doesn’t know if it’s the alcohol that has his friends saying that but a part of her wishes it’s true. God, a part of her wants him to want her because she definitely likes him. She likes everything about him but she’s too much of a loser to put herself out there more. So she just lets him do all the talking and flirting because once again, she has no game.

“Shut up Taylor!” Cale cries out, shoving his brother lightly.

“Well you seem to be having a fun time with your friends,” she says, not wanting to bring up anything that was said about his feelings for her. 

“It would be better if you were here,” he adds, his voice dropping slightly in volume.

“Yeah, well maybe we’ll meet one day,” she adds, not wanting to sound desperate to meet him or anything.

“When I get back to the States, I’ll make that a reality,” he replies, sounding sincere for being slightly intoxicated.

She’s reminded of the saying that drunken words are sober thoughts and gets a warm feeling in her stomach.

“Well I’ll let you keep having fun, birthday boy. I’ll talk to you later,” she smiles.

“Bye Ace,” he smiles back, before ending the call.

She immediately refills her glass of wine because she’s definitely too sober to be thinking about all the feelings Cale manages to give her every time they talk. She eventually falls asleep and if she dreamed about being in Calgary with Cale, she’ll blame it on the alcohol fucking with her dreams.

The next day is a busy one for Taty as she celebrates her sister’s 21st birthday in the best way she can while in the middle of a pandemic. They go to Salem, Massachusetts and have a blast doing many Halloween-related activities and then once it gets late, they head down to their cousin’s place in Brookline, Massachusetts to watch Halloween movies and to have a good time. Her sister decides to get drunk and Taty posts all their adventures on her Snapchat and her Instagram. She also sees that Cale has been posting his Halloween adventures on Snapchat, which aren’t as exciting this year because there’s no Avs Halloween party this year due to it still being the offseason and not everyone on the team is in Denver at the moment.

The next few weeks go by for Taty and it eventually gets to the point that she’s video chatting with Cale every day. They sometimes will stay up until late at night just talking and getting to know each other. Every day she’s becoming more comfortable and it’s on the first day of training camp, where she decides she’s finally gonna grow a pair and let him know how she feels.

He calls her after a long day at training camp and she actually has the time to talk to him as she isn’t working on anything for the podcast or her day job. 

“How was camp?” she asks him, as she locks herself in her room.

The last thing she needs is for her nosy ass sisters to eavesdrop on her conversations with Cale.

“It was tiring but fun. It was great to be out there with the guys again, even though everything is so weird with the virus going on,” he explains.

“Oh I bet, I can’t imagine all the testing and the extra precautions you guys have to take. The whole season is gonna be super weird huh,” she replies.

“Yeah, weird is a bit of an understatement,” he chuckles lightly.

“I really like you,” she blurts out, then immediately wishes the ground would swallow her whole.

She buries her face in her hands and contemplates ending the call to save herself from further embarrassment.

“Oh thank god! I was starting to think you didn’t really feel the same,” he admits, biting his lip.

“No I definitely like you. It’s just I’m new to this. I’ve never dated before or anything. I’m kind of a giant loser if you haven’t already caught on,” she admits, almost rambling at the end.

“Yeah no, you’re not a loser! You’re the coolest, most fun girl I’ve ever talked to and I just want to keep getting to know you because I really like you,” he assures her.

"So are we putting a label on this? Are we dating?" she asks.

"I guess you can say we're long distance dating," he chuckles lightly.

"I did know our video chats were considered dates," she teases.

"I was seeing them as dates and I want our future ones to be considered dates," he confesses.

"Alright so set up our next date," you tease.

"I know you're recording for the podcast tomorrow so what about Wednesday?" he asks.

"I'm off work Wednesday so that would be perfect. What time works for you?" she asks him.

"8pm my time," he answers.

"Yeah that works for me," she smiles.

"So it's a date?" he asks.

"Yeah it's a date," she smiles, getting a warm feeling in her stomach.

She tells him about some funny stories involving her family and he tells her some funny stories from training camp. They chat for hours and before she knows it, it's past midnight and she has to go to work in the morning. 

“I need to go to bed. I have work in the morning. Goodnight Cale,” she yawns, waving at him

“Goodnight love,” he waves back, ending the call. 

If she cheeses a little at the fact he called her love, no one is around to see it. 

December goes by pretty quickly and she feels bad that her calls with Cale become less frequent. December is the busiest month at work because everyone is doing Christmas shopping (being a store manager is hard work) and she finds herself working double the amount of hours she worked before the holiday season. Add doing the podcast three times a week and she’s absolutely gassed. Luckily, Cale doesn’t hold it against her because he starts getting more busy with preseason starting and his parents coming down for the holidays. Taylor is currently in the middle of his final season in the AJHL so he can’t make the trip down to Denver for the holidays. They text each other every day throughout the month however, and she manages to call him on Christmas and on New Year’s Eve, asking him if he’s excited for the new season to start on the 2nd.

2021 starts off worse than 2020 started because of the pandemic but Taty manages to make the best of it. She watches the Winter Classic while on video call with Cale. Luckily, the Avalanche start their season off at home again this year. The following day, she finds herself rushing home from work to be able to catch the Avs first game of the season against the Wild. She makes it home and takes a quick shower before changing into her Cale jersey and joggers. She quickly eats dinner before going into her room. She puts the game on and makes it just in time for the players to come out to the ice. She watches the game and manages to text Cale throughout the game knowing that he won’t see the string of texts until after the game. He finishes the game with one assist and 2 hits, as the Avs win 4-2 to start off the new season on a high note.

As she’s getting ready for bed, she gets a call from Cale.

“Hey, great game,” she smiles, trying not to show how tired she is.

“Oh shit, I just realized how late it is over there,” he sighs, not wanting to keep her up.

“It’s okay. I always stay up past my bedtime to talk to you,” she teases.

“How was work?” he asks.

“Annoying. We’re winding down from the holiday season but we still got a lot of people shopping and returning stuff,” she explains.

“I don’t know how you do it honestly, being so young and running a store, I mean,” he explains.

“Yeah well luckily I’m only an assistant manager,” she replies.

“Still pretty incredible what you do,” he assures her.

“Says the NHL superstar,” she scoffs.

“Hey, I’m not a superstar at all! I’m just another player like everybody else trying to be the best at my position,” he explains.

“Why do you have to be so humble all the time?” she teases.

“It’s just who I am,” he shrugs.

“And I love you for it but like just admit you’re a superstar,” she replies.

“Fine, I’m a superstar. Happy now?” he teases.

“The happiest. When are your parents going back to Calgary?” she asks, switching the subject.

“Tomorrow,” he answers.

“I’m glad you got to have them with you for the holidays, though,” she adds.

“Yeah, it was great seeing them again. I just wish Taylor could’ve been here,” he replies.

“Yeah well you’ll see him once his season ends and on the bright side, he’ll be at UMass next season,” she adds.

“Yeah I just miss him. I always go home for Christmas and this year I couldn’t,” he explains.

“Yeah I can’t imagine what that’s like but it will get better,” she assures him.

“Yeah I know it will,” he nods.

“I wish I could be there to make you feel better,” she sighs.

“Yeah, well we’ll see each other next month,” he smiles, a hopeful tone in his voice.

“February 5th can’t come fast enough. I’m gonna blow you away with the best interview you’ve ever done,” she teases, referring to her interviewing him for the podcast.

“I guess we’ll have to see about that,” he teases back.

“You wound me, Makar!” she fake gasps.

“I’ll make it up to you with a killer real first date,” he smiles.

“I’ll hold you to that. I expect to be really wooed,” she teases.

“It’s gonna be the best date you’ve ever been on,” he almost guarantees.

“It’s gonna be the first date I’ve ever been on,” she informs him.

“I know. That’s why it’s gonna be the best you’ve ever been on,” he jokes, causing her to roll her eyes.

“You’re so funny, Makar,” she deadpans.

“Stop acting like I don’t make you laugh all the time, Ventura,” he teases.

“What happened to humble Cale? I like him better than this smug one I got here,” she teases back.

“Stop acting like you don’t like it,” he replies.

“Yeah, I like every side to you,” she admits.

“Well that’s good because I like every side of you,” he smiles.

She feels her cheeks heat up and that warm fuzzy feeling return to her stomach. Is this what falling in love feels like? She’s never felt this way before and god, she hopes the feeling never fades because it’s amazing. No wonder people love falling in love so much, it’s magical and she hopes she doesn’t fuck it up. She just counts down the days until February 5th praying to god that nothing goes wrong once they finally meet.

Part 52 - Safe for now...

Flashback...

It was a very sunny day outside of the Palace of Asgard. Today was Loki's 7th Birthday ! You, Frigga and your friends planned something very awesome for his Birthday. Morro and Garmadon were teamed up, Jana and Micha were also teamed up, Lena and Sahra were also a team and you had to get Loki out of the Palace to the Tree houses in the Forest. Everything was prepared and planned, besides the cake. Garmadon and Morro worked on it very hard and long and now it was in the oven. They were proud of their work. You and Frigga agreed to fool Loki a bit today, but you both didn't know, that Loki would be reacting to it badly...

You ran back to the Palace. You told Loki, that you will hang out with your and his friends, but didn't tell him why and that he can come with. So he stayed behind. He really believed that you forgot his Birthday. You admit it was a little mean tho, but nothing was fully finished back then. You ran down the Hallways and soon ended up on Loki's door. You knocked.

"Go away !", came a little weak voice.

You became worried.

"Loki ? It is me ! Please let me inside !"

"I said go away !"

"Why ? Why are you upset with me ?"

"You forgot what day it is, didn't you ?!"

"Uummm.....22nd day of December ? Why ?"

"It is my Birthday !!!", he yelled disappointed.

You smiled and opened his door, stepped inside and closed it again. You giggled at him. Loki looked at you with tears in his eyes.

"I know, Loki. Happy Birthday."

"Let me guess, you just remembered. I hate you !"

You giggled even more, not affected at his words.

"No. Come with me and I will show you, why I just now wished you a Happy Birthday.", you stretched your hand out to him.

He hesitated but soon took it and stood up, sniffing. You wiped his tears away and smiled at him brightly.

"We have something great to celebrate and you cry ? The important special person is crying on their special day ? That won't do. Now come !"

With that you tore Loki with yourself away from the room and the Palace. He stumbled after you.

"Where are we going ?!", he asked.

"You will see, Loki !", you said excited.

He followed you, until you stood in front of the forest.

"Mother doesn't even now about this place ! She will be worried !", Loki said worried.

"She won't !"

Loki looked down.

"I know...She didn't celebrate with me today and hasn't wished me a Happy Birthday...She forgot my Birthday...", Loki mumbled.

You frowned at that. The plan was a little harsh, you admit that. Soon you smiled again, knowingly. Frigga knows the whole plan and will get Loki and you in the late evening, showering Loki in gifts also. You knew it.

"Then forget about that ! I have a huge surprise for you !", you laughed out.

Soon you and Loki reached the Tree houses and in the lift was Morro, dressed nicely in a suit and waited for them. You smiled at him and waved. He bowed.

"C'mon Loki !", you said grinning at him.

He did as you told him and followed. Morro soon bowed and smiled at Loki.

"Happy Birthday, to your 7th year of being alive Loki.", he said smiling.

Loki looked at Morro in shock.

"Morro ? Is that you ?"

He nodded laughing. Loki also laughed.

"How are you dressed ? You look funny and at the same time great !", Loki complimented.

"Thank you, my Prince. But today is just your day to shine."

Then Morro started the lift up, Loki looked at it amazed.

"You never told me that we have a lift here too.", Loki said to you.

"Well, we don't use it actually. Today is an exception. Your Birthday.", you answered him softly.

He smiled at you.

"Thank you."

You smiled at him.

"You will hate me after we are with the rest. Believe me. You will be embarrassed.", you joked.

He laughed.

"I do not believe you."

Soon you were up and exited the lift, walking into one of the many Tree houses. Garmadon soon opened the last door. That Tree house was once Michael’s, but after he died, they decided to gift it to Loki today. Loki looked around amazed. You chuckled.

"Now !", you called.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOKI !!!", everyone yelled, jumping out of their hiding places.

Sahra was dressed in a yellow dress, Jana in a orange dress, Lena in a red one. And the boys were dressed in suits. Morro had a green tie, Garmadon a purple one and Micha had a silver one.

Loki covered his mouth in shock and let tears escape. He turned to you.

"It is a very cool surprise. Thank you Destiny.", he said and hugged you.

You chuckled.

"No it wasn't just my idea. We all had that one and even told Frigga. That is why she didn't wish you a Happy Birthday. It was all a plan."

He smiled at you in happiness and then went to hug and thank the others. Garmadon even clapped Loki's shoulder softly.

"We aren't done though !", Jana yelled.

Loki looked at you confused. You chuckled and shrugged, not telling him anything.

"You know the plan guys. Surprise him.", you said, amused at the confused and curious Loki.

Lena pulled Loki along in the living room. He looked at you helpless and you giggled at his troubled face. Lena pushed him down on the couch and then ran away, giggling. Soon Morro came back with plates and silverware, Garmadon with cups and glasses and you with a huge covered thing. You set it in front of Loki and the rest got distributed. You gave Loki a huge knife and then sat next to him.

"Uncover it.", you said as everyone sat in their place.

Loki did as told and gasped. A huge cake was the covered thing. The icing said 'Happy Birthday to Loki Odinson !'.

"You may cut the cake, Birthday - boy.", you joked, touching his side with your elbow.

He smiled and laughed softly at that. And then he cut the cake into equal pieces, for everyone. Everyone cheered at him as he cut the cake. He was even more amazed as he saw the inside of the cake.

"Chocolate ? My favorite ? How did you...?", he asked you all surprised.

"It is called a Volcano cake. Garmadon and Morro made it.", you explained.

"Wow...Thank you !", he said happily and digged inside it, excitedly.

The rest laughed and also digged inside. After the cake was gone, one piece was left for Frigga. Loki wanted it like that. Then they lead him to another room, the Bedroom and sat him on the bed, they blindfolded him, so he will not see anything. On the bed behind him were presents and a huge decoration too. Then they unblindfolded him and he gasped.

'Happy Birthday Loki, wish you your true friends, Sahra, Lena, Jana, Micha, Morro, Garmadon and Destiny !!', said the decoration.

Loki teared up in happiness. You wiped them away and smiled.

"Turn around...", you whispered.

He did so and gasped at his presents from you and your friends.

"C'mon ! Open them !", Morro said excited.

"Yeah !", Lena cheered at Loki.

"They are all yours.", Sahra said.

"We spend a long time, to find something for you.", Garmadon told him.

Loki smiled brightly, jumped up and hugged everyone. Then he sat back down and started to open the presents. He got 4 whole dagger sets made out of undestroyable metal, 10 green capes, a few shirts, pants, socks and scarves, underwear...which made him blush, some new boots, a bit more stuff for his nails, a new brush, perfume, soap, many books about potions, spells and more magic and knowledge and the last present was a very big one. Loki made big eyes at that one and opened it eager to find out, what was inside. He was confused as he saw what it was.

"An armor ? But it is very big...I do not fit inside it...", he said sad.

You laughed softly.

"Of course you don't, for now ! I thought it would be nice, to gift to you something, that you will need in the future. When you are older and bigger, this armor will fit and it will be very light. You can do whatever you want with it on yourself. It is unbreakable, well...until frost of course. But just the frost of a Frost Giant. It is very stable and not even a bullet can get a scar into this armor ! It will surely help you in the future of all your adventures with Thor and without him.", you explained.

Loki smiled at you brightly.

"You didn't forgot about my dream ?"

"Of course not ! I planned this armor now for 5 months to be finished ! Are you pleased with it ?"

"More than pleased. It looks awesome !!"

(Minus the helmet, cape and spear ! Belongs to rightful owner !!)

The rest of the day they laughed and partied. Until it was late.

"Loki ! Come with me on the roof of the Tree house. I need to show you something.", you said smiling.

Loki smiled and stood up. You and Loki went to the roof and laid down, looking at the stars. You showed him some pictures the stars made and he did the same. You even laughed at some together. 45 minutes went by until you told him one last surprise.

"Listen Loks...Our friends and I...we came to an agreement...."

He looked at you worried.

"What is it ?"

You giggled.

"The Tree house, you were in with us the whole time...belonged to Michael until he...left us. We decided that we gift you his old Tree house."

He sat up in shock and surprise.

"WHAT ?!"

You giggled.

"That is also why it was already a little green and black...We couldn't finish it though, because of today..."

"You really gift me, my own Tree house ?!", he asked excited.

You giggled again.

"You are officially now one of us. Welcome to the family, Loki.", you told him softly.

He smiled brightly and hugged you tightly.

"Thank you !! I love you all !!!", he cheered.

You gigged even more and hugged him back.

"We love you too, Loks."

Soon Frigga came by and Loki showed her his new Tree house. She was happy for him and thanked you and your friends for all the work and effort. Frigga teleported every present of Loki to his room, besides his future armor. He wanted it hidden here, so he can get it, when he is old enough. Odin would take it away from him and Frigga agreed. She was so proud of you and everyone else. She never saw Loki this happy. Then you returned home and Frigga gave Loki her presents.

A blanket he always wanted, new pyjamas, chocolate with mint, a fluffy cape and warm clothes. Then you and Loki decided to have a Pyjama - party and fell very late asleep.

End of Flashback...

You teleported to a very dark place. It was night clearly to you.

"Where are we ?", Loki asked.

"We are in Haiti.", you answered him shortly and simply.

"Haiti ? Where is that ?", Frigga asked.

"It is on Midgard ! Jane told me about that place ! It is a swamp.", Thor answered.

You nodded.

"A swamp and a great hideout for the Library of All – knowing.", you said.

You turned to the others with a stern expression.

"You stay here and wait. I will put my former friends and the Library of Allknowing in a safe place. Hide and let no one see you."

Everyone nodded. Loki looked disappointed that you left them behind and didn't take them all with yourself. It wasn't time yet, for them to find out...

You went away and let the secret cave be opened. You stepped inside and deep into the hideout. As you arrived in a very big room, you teleported the Library and your former friends into that room. Nothing was changed.

"You will stay in here and never try to get out of the cave. It is the only safe place for you to stay at, without Thanos tracking you down.", you told them.

They all nodded and you did the same. Then you left and went into the freezing room. You looked into a capsule and saw what you wanted to see. You put your hand on the capsule that was able to freeze and keep a body alive, then left.

"Thank you for opening the entrance, old friend...", you said smiling a sad smile.

"No problem."

"But I am afraid, that it isn't quite the time yet..."

They chuckled.

"I know. We will see one another soon again. Destiny Andrea Dust."

You smiled at them sadly and then left.

"See you soon...", you whispered.

You unfreezed the time and called the others. They came to you in the clearance and looked at you.

"They are safe for now."

Everyone nodded at that.

"HEIMDALL !!!", you called.

The Bifrost hit you and you got all teleported to Asgard. The Asgardians and Jotuns parted and you gave Laufey a small smile.

"We will chat soon again, Laufey. Until then...be careful.", you said.

He chuckled.

"I will be. Be also safe, Destiny."

You nodded and with that Heimdall opened the Bifrost and sent the Frost Giants back to Jotunheim.

"Thank you Heimdall.", you said.

"No problem, General Dust.", he said, bowing his head.

You smiled at him and then turned to the rest.

"Time to head back inside the Palace. Odin surely didn't know anything. We were gone for 30 seconds. Nothing big. Let us go back to sleep.", you told them.

They all nodded and you teleported everyone back into the Palace. Lastly you teleported yourself to your own room and fell into your bed, deep in thoughts.

Name: Many people have talked about Otabek’s name. This is how you shorten it –– “Bek”, “Beka”, or “Beks” if you wanna be really familiar and laid back.

Kazakhs don’t have middle names, we have patronymics. They are formed like this: the father’s name + ‘uly’ if the child is a boy or ‘kyzy’ is the child is a girl. For example, Otabek’s childrens’ patronymics would be Otabekuly and Otabekkyzy.

About Almaty and almatinians: Ok I’m so happy Otabek is from Almaty, I really don’t know much about life in other cities or rural areas. Almatinians rarely do. Comparing Almaty lifestyle to the rest of Kazakhstan is the same as comparing NYC to the rest of America –– it’s not representative of the quality of life in the country, like, at all.

Almaty has 2.5+ million population, and it grows every year. It’s a cultural and economic centre of the country. Apples originate from Almaty (!!!), hence the name from “Alma” –– apple. Almatinians are usually stereotyped as fast, brash and snobby –– kinda like New Yorkers, right? Almaty is much more tolerant and progressive, and also more ‘Western’ than the rest of the country in terms of mindset. Almatinians kinda look down on non-Almatinians, and really dislike the capital Astana because of all the funding and attention it gets.

Almaty has a great ethnic diversity –– main groups are Kazakhs, Russians, Uygur, Koreans, Germans, Jews, Uzbek, and many more. Though stereotypical jokes are generally acceptable, outright hate and discrimination against an ethnic group is not tolerated. Many foreigners visit here for business –– mostly Americans, Western Europeans and Chinese.

Almatinians love: coffeeshops, mall sales, cool cars (Hello Otabek’s motorcycle), smoking hukkah and vaping. They are usually concerned with status and try to show off their wealth. You can see people of all kind of different style and background in Almaty, fashion shows are held there, contemporary art and indie-music congregates there, along with all kinds of fancy ass crowd. It is a really interesting and kinda exhausting scene, especially if you are young and wanna have fun.

Language, culture, food, etc.

As an Almatinian Kazakh, Otabek is definitely fluent in both Russian and Kazakh, and probably has a very good grasp on English. He is a master of shala kazakh. Shala kazakh is a magic language that only city Kazakhs are privy to. It’s basically a wild mix of kazakh, russian and some fashionable english slang thrown in there. It’s usual for me to start a conversation with “OMG bro” and then kinda pull my speech together, substituting kazakh and russian words with each other and pepper it with “cool”, “ok” and other english exclamations. It’s not grammatically correct and is kinda lowbrow, but we all do it. Yes, even our parents. This is how Otabek sounds when he is talking to someone from home. Terrifying.

Nuclear family: City Kazakhs usually have two or three kids. That’s less than people have in rural areas. Children are important in Kazakh culture because they carry the family’s bloodline and history, especially boys. If you headcanon Otabek as having brothers and sisters, you are probably right! His family should be at least sort of wealthy to afford all the expenses of having a professional athlete for a child. Otabek has an expensive bike and his clothes look high-end –– he is definitely not poor.

Family in general. Kazakhs are close, VERY CLOSE to their family. Mind you, family is not just parents and siblings but also your grandparents, aunts and uncles and like all 173 cousins and nieces and nephews. Everyone is ridiculously involved in your life, always there with advice and complaints. You stay connected to your parents when you move out, when you get married, when you have kids, when you DIE. When Otabek misses the weekly skype dates or check-in phone calls, HE IS SHAMED SO HARD. Do you know grandma is worried about you, think about how old she is! Otabek’s relatives brag about his achievements like they moved him up the career ladder personally, with their own two hands. There’s nothing Otabek can really do about it tho he gets annoyed

Food: city Kazakhs have a very diverse cuisine. Traditional kazakh food is like 50% batter and 50% meat and takes long ass time to prepare so we reserve it for the holidays. My family loves fish, russian dishes such as borsht and blini, Uzbek lagman, Korean kimchi tho we try to avoid pork. And it’s not like we choose one day as a “Russian cuisine day”, we just kinda??? Deside to have some borsht today?? Almaty has lots of different restaurants, almatinians love sushi, pizza and pasta, shashlyk, all kinds of experimental foods and trying new things. Kumys –– mare’s milk –– is one of the things you should try in Kazakhstan as a turist, but I know many kazakhs who have never had it or don’t like it. They say it’s really good for you tho.

Holidays: ethnic Kazakhs in Kazakhstan celebrate: birthdays, New Years, Eid al-Adha which we call Kurban Bairam, Independence Day on December 16th and Nauryz on March 22nd. Young people kinda have get togethers on Halloween because it’s fun and a reason to hang out. Nauryz is one of my faves, it’s a pagan holiday of coming of spring and new life. On Nauryz, Almaty is adorned with flowers, yurts and giant swings are set on the city square, people wear traditional clothing and dance and play and eat a lot. My family also ended up celebrating Eastern Orthdox Christmas and Easter because each year our Russian friends invite us to hang out and celebrate with them, lol.

LGBTQIA+

Main principle is “Don’t ask, don’t tell”. General conflict avoidance protocols are in place. I personally know like 3 LGBT friendly hubs/clubs in Almaty. Nobody explicitly says “gay clubs” but people just kinda know what and where those are. There are get togethers and meetings you can attend to meet people, you can hang out with your significant other in public, hug, hold hands and no one would probably say anything. Colleges and universities are generally safe places, many of my friends are out in their college and don’t face any trouble. PDA will be frowned upon, but all PDA is generally frowned upon in Kazakhstan, even hetero. Feminist and sex-positive initiatives try to educate the populace and break the status quo, and are doing really well but the government’s disposition is homophobic. If your family is religious or traditional, they probably wouldn’t go as far as disowning you, but will probably pressure and guilt-trip you. LGBT+ youth generally plan to move somewhere else or just not settle. All of this is Almaty situation tho. Being LGBT in rural area is much more dangerous.

THE BEST PART: VOCABULARY

Ok this is what I find to be the easiest way to explain Kazakh to English speakers: think Turkish but written in cyrillic, with words borrowed from Arabic and Russian.

Endearments:

zhanym, жаным: my soul. Zhanym is everything to a Kazakh. You can use it for your family, friends, SO, I called my laptop zhanym today. It can be flirty, it can be serious. If you need Otabek to be affectionate with someone, use zhanym.

ainalaiyn, айналайын: really hard to translate but something like my precious?? Usually used towards small kids, but also if a Kazakh finds something really cute.

altynym, my golden baby. I love this one for obvious reasons, lol, hi, Otabek.

Mahabbatym, махаббатым, my love +

Suiktim, сүйіктім. my love, my dear. Kinda old fashioned but really romantic. I can see Otabek using this, but he will be teased and called an old sap if he does.

Kazakh have a lot more endearments, but most of them are for children.

Basic interaction and exclamations:

Expletives and Swear Words. Yeeaaah the juicy stuff.

Zhyndy, Жынды. Crazy. If someone is being stupid or inappropriate, you call them zhyndy. When you tell a dumb joke at the familty table, mom smacks you upside the head and hisses “Ooooi, zhyndy!” When Jean-Jaques is acting a fool and makes out with his reflection, Otabek rolls his eyes and mutters “Zhyndy”.

on my 16th birthday i was in like. an open ward sorta thing, and it was a shitty place to celebrate your bday even if it was only like in the morning and afternoon (and even if the other kids were nice and one of my friends there made an aang-shaped cake for me). and i think since then I've been hating my birthdays

then, 3 years later on my 19th birthday, i was literally stuck in a hospital bc i had health issues that started about two months before, and i actually spent most of the day in a waiting room for some procedure (and my entire family brought me cake and balloons and some presents to said waiting room and the room i was staying at for this hospitalization)

so i was super scared of there being another 3 year jump for a terrible thing, i had a feeling something's gonna go wrong on my 22nd birthday because this was the next in this series after 16 and 19

and I'm actually very glad to say nothing terrible happened (yet, but i doubt it will anyway at this point :P) AND this has been one of my most productive days recently (fr i think i haven't gone in public in like a month bc of anxiety but today i managed to go out and be out for a few hours and even talk to strangers which is like. big for me hehe) AND 2 things I've been waiting for, while not being too big or impactful (well. one of them kinda is) happened today of all days and they ended up being better than i originally expected them to be, too. and maybe i haven't done anything too big and I'll only celebrate things properly in 3 days but!! it was still a good and even productive day from a type I haven't had in like, months

Ash: Eliza Cohen is Jewish, she celebrates Hannukah, not Christmas. She feels a little alone in the endless sea of Christmas decorations, but she’s happy to see everyone around her being cheerful and festive. If anyone actually tells her “Happy Hannukah” instead of “Merry Christmas” she might feel inclined to share one of her sufganiyot with them. 

Thermite: He loves to decorate the place with luminarias (lights or candles in paper bags). He also makes wreaths out of barbed wire. Nobody knows if he’s kidding or not when he says that’s actually a longstanding tradition in Texas.

Pulse: He takes gingerbread houses very seriously, and tries to make them as elaborate as his baking experience allows him. Do NOT mess with Pulse’s gingerbread houses. Ever.

Castle: Tinsel, baubles and lights might look very pretty, but for Castle it doesn’t feel like a true Christmas tree unless it’s decorated with pop-corn threaded on a string too.

Thatcher: He doesn’t go carol singing, but it’s the only time of the year he’ll go to a church service, and then right to the pub. Also, the Queen’s speech is sacred and a must hear every year, no excuses and no clowning around when her Majesty is on the telly.

Sledge: His favourite celebration is Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve), with the street parties and bonfires and fireworks. Aside from that, every year he burns a yule log, and if he’s argued with someone recently, he’ll burn too a branch of rowan tree, to clean the air and start the New Year with a clean slate. Not that he truly believes it works, but it’s still a nice tradition.

Smoke: If anyone asks him, he’ll say his favorite thing from the Holidays is getting stuffed with good food. However, now that his daughter is a teen, he’ll admit he used to love writing with her a letter to Santa, and then watching her face of wonder when she opened the exact presents she had wished for.

Mute: He only celebrates Christmas because everyone around him does, not because it has any significance to him. But fitting in is easier if you go along with it, and it is a fun festival, even if he’s not the best at gift giving.

Montagne: He loves visiting Christmas markets, walking around, buying a new figurine or ornament. He as a sizeable collection of santons, even if most of the time he sets a pretty minimalistic crèche (nativity scene/manger)

Twitch: When she was a kid she used to celebrate St. Nicholas on the 6th of December, since it was an important tradition where she lived. Nowadays, she celebrates by distributing candy to her friends and teammates (and keeping a good portion for herself as well).

Doc: He is a muslim and doesn’t really celebrate Christmas. He appreciates the festive atmosphere, and doesn’t mind the decorations, but he doesn’t decorate his home, nor does he celebrate anything in particular. He’ll gladly make use of the free days to spend time with his family and friends tho, and also give to whatever charities are popular around these dates (which usually are kid related).

Rook: To him Christmas means good food - mostly scarfing down as much foie gras as he can, and having bûche de Noël (yule log cake) for dessert - and good company. He holds a small pre-Christmas team party every year, so he can celebrate with his teammates before he goes to visit and celebrate with his family.

Tachanka: Watching “The little blue light” (a variety TV show) right after midnight in New Year’s Eve, both him and his sister have been watching that literally all their lives. He used to dress up as Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) for his kids and nephews, but they’re too old for that nowadays.

Kapkan: After New Year’s, he’ll always go on a lone hunt for a few days and come back with fresh meat right in time to celebrate the Old New Year (on January 12th).

Glaz: After the celebration of the New Year and being in contact with more people than he usually handles, and drinking a lot more than it’s advisable, he’ll spend the next day  nursing a hangover and painting, isolated from the rest of the world. 

Fuze: He would say the home cooked food from his mother and grandma is the highlight of the Holidays, since he doesn’t care much for celebrating when they all feel his missing’s brother’s absence so keenly still.

Jäger: He adores Christmas and still buys advent calendars for himself every year. He also inevitably forgets to open several days in a row and eventually binge eats all the sweets when he remembers. He hides it tho, because he doesn’t want people to think he’s childish.

Bandit: In contrast to Jäger, Bandit doesn’t care one whit about the Holidays. He’s of the opinion that the only good thing about Christmas season is Glühwein. Although, if he’s with his family, he will accompany his nephews on Epiphany day to go singing carols and get sweets.

Blitz: He will always organise a secret Santa event at the base before everyone scatters around for the holidays. Loves Christmas markets and the very American traditions of wearing tacky Christmas sweaters.

IQ: She likes to bake Christmas sweets, but dislikes her teammates hounding her for cookies. Aside from that, she’s pretty minimal in decorations and showing the Christmas cheer. Although she has an Aventskranz (advent wreath) and burns one candle every Sunday leading up to Christmas.

Blackbeard: He participates in a Jingle bells 5k run, dressed as Santa. He likes dressing as Santa. Aside from that, he’s very particular about going to personally choose a tree, then set it and decorate it on his own.

Capitao: What he misses the most is watching the kids have fun with  the Christmas play of “Os Pastores” (The Shepherds), he barely goes home nowadays, and there are no more children in the family for now either.

Caveira: She wishes for a proper amigo secreto (aka, secret Santa), where you give (and receive) small gifts all through December using an alias and some sneaking around, and then having to guess the identity of your secret Santa on Christmas’ day.

Hibana: She sticks to the notion of Christmas being a time to spread happiness, and also a romantic time. She’ll give people small gifts, go admire the Christmas lights, and eat outside. If it can be a romantic dinner with her partner, even better.

Echo: To him Christmas means pretty lights, eating KFC and cake. And visiting Tokyo Disneyland if he’s in Japan during those days.

Jackal: He never celebrated Christmas much, he never saw the point in it when he doesn’t have a family to celebrate with. But he always liked all the traditions around New Year’s Eve to bring in good luck: eating the 12 grapes (one for each strike of the clock at midnight), wearing red underwear, dropping a golden ring on your champagne glass for your first toast at midnight; and most importantly, right after the clock strikes the end of the year, hugging the people gathered around you. It always gave him a feeling of comfort, as if he was part of a family.

Mira: Two words, Christmas lottery. She finds a way to buy some from Spain every single year, and then faithfully tune in on the 22nd of December to hear the kids from San Ildefonso’s schoolchanting the drawn numbers and prizes. It doesn’t feel like Christmas is about to start without that.

Ying: Christmas is synonymous with party, especially since it’s impossible to escape the Winterfest in Hong Kong. Who doesn’t like to party?

Lesion: He likes sending Christmas postcards, by traditional mail yes. And he’d be even happier to receive some as well. Aside from that, he doesn’t really celebrate Christmas.

Zofia: She likes to have a traditional Christmas, especially when it comes to Christmas’ Eve dinner. Even if most years she can’t really buy a live carp to kill herself as her dad did, she still has carp fillet on the menu. Always puts an extra place on the table, as it’s the tradition, but also because she hopes one day Ela will take up her offer to come.

Ela: The true Christmas tradition for her is avoiding her family, although Zofia keeps inviting her to spend either Christmas’ Eve or Christmas Day with them and meet her niece.

Maestro: Christmas means family gatherings for him, and home baked Panettone, and carol singing and visiting the Christmas Markets. Will invite to his table anyone who mentions not having plans for the holidays, since nothing seems worse to him than being alone on Christmas.

Alibi: While her family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, she sometimes will celebrate it with friends if she doesn’t have those days free to go home to visit her family. The thing she likes the most is decorating. Proper, tasteful decorating, not those kitsch nightmares so many people seem so fond of!

Clash: She loves Boxing Day as much or even more than Christmas, cause while family meetings can sometimes be a little tense, she’s always felt at ease with her friends; and especially after joining Rainbow, she’s dying to celebrate with them.

Gridlock: For her Christmas means summer and going to the beach and Santa in a surfboard. The idea of a white Christmas is very aesthetically pleasing, but in reality she hates it and can’t wait to go back to a place where Christmas means beach parties.

Warden: He has to have some fruitcake (mostly nuts, some other dried fruits, and spices) soaked in bourbon. It’s a true delicacy, trust him, he’s a man of refined tastes, right?

Amaru: She will make dark hot chocolate with cinnamon and cloves for everyone. The fireworks at midnight on Christmas’ Eve are a must, as is gathering at home with her family and closest friends.

The only special consideration he’ll take is to eat meat instead of fish (since his fishing family always had meat that day as a treat) and have a couple of strong drinks, maybe with Kali, and she will even smile at his toast. 1. When is their birthday?

A few days or much likely a day after Aku got his conscience, certainly during some autumn month. I hc his birthday being on the 22nd of November as it adds another portion of oppositions between them, as Aku exhibits Scorpio’s traits quite evidently while Jack certainly has some of Sagittarius’ features (aka they’re water and fire sign, the elements which are naturally opposed to each other, even tho Jack’s moon and rising signs aka Capricorn and Virgo seem to affect his character more strongly than his sun one).

2. Do they do anything to celebrate their birthday?

Not really, no. He doesn’t give this day that much significance, mainly for two reasons: 1) before Aku got free via eclipse, his family used to celebrate all birthdays in traditional Japanese style aka one big joint birthday at the day of New Year & 2) the forced immortality made it completely meaningless or even rather painful matter. He won’t mind if the other muse will express the wish to make this day somehow special for him, but on his own he’ll certainly shrug it off rather than make any celebration.

3. Does your character like coffee better, or tea?

Tea, only tea, always tea (especially the green one). He’s neutral towards coffee, but it’s better to keep it away from him once he has enough energy, due to the fact it can turn him all jittery at first (much as in this comic) and then incredibly tired. Jokes aside tho, SJ is just a 100% tea person who doesn’t mind people having different tastes than him, as long as his own aren’t being intentionally offended.

4. Do they prefer being alone or with others?

Depends on the circle he finds himself in but, since SJ has a very introverted and private nature in general, being alone is much more favored over the company (of course, with the exclusion of people he’s completely comfortable to be among aka his family, friends, etc.).

5. Are they in good health?

It depends on what health we’re talking about. Even being rather stable, his mental health certainly has its share of scars, while physical one has always been quite exceptional despite some certain conditions, such as partial colorblindness (deuteranomaly; he doesn’t see much of the green spectrum, which is why he couldn’t disclose Aku in some of his forms) & times when his partial divinity starts to act up (which is manifested as abruptly starting fever, at the end putting him into lethargic state for a few days, until the conflict between human and divine blood will return back to the dormancy and he’ll wake up without any actual memories about it the burden of being Japanese sun deity aka Amaterasu’s descendant).

Favourite shows: I will always love and recommend Good Omens to everybody. I'm also pretty into Steven Universe and BNHA (that one shounen I really like c':)
