This is Pigsy and That is His Spoon
I've been rewatching Monkie Kid again since the season 4 special is apparently out if my social feed has anything to say about it. As I was watching I found details I missed during my previous viewings, but somehow it took me until now to notice this.
In episode 9 of season 1 (which is still by far my favorite episode of season 1 for obvious reasons) after MK fails to attack Macaque's war form it pans out to show that Pigsy also failed to attack it.
I only now noticed that not only are MK and Pigsy in the same pose, but PIGSY ATTACKED MACAQUE'S WAR FORM WITH A SPOON! A SPOON!
Pigsy is among the elite group of characters that used a spoon in a fight. Other characters in this group include Hup the Poding from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and the 12th Doctor (aka the Peter Capaldi doctor) from Doctor Who.

The Dark Crystal Age Of Resistance is a tragically underrated work of art.
If your a fan of fantasy like Lord of the rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars please give The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance a watch.
Its a prequel series to the 80s movie and it's one of the best fantasy shows in recent years and goes back to classic fairytales and mythical storytelling.
Everything is mostly done with practical effects and only uses CGI where it's really necessary. The show also brings back puppetry and even though none of the character's are humans there's more humanity in this show than most media we get today.
The world of thra is a magical and strange place that you find yourself immersed in, with all the creatures and beuaty of the natural world at full display you find yourself encanted by it.
The gelfings are really adorable and you can't help but care about them, the main three protagonists have well flushed out personalities and each one has a interesting journey they go on that lead them to start the resistance and the quest to save there world.
The Skekies are really creepy and make for some pretty great villains. There motivation and interactions are giving just as much time as the heros, they rule thra with cruelty and manipulation, stealing the live force of the planet and the then the gelfing. There some of the most terrifying villains we've gottan in the last few years and I gotta say, I was absolutely horrifying by them.
This show does a lot of things right and one of them is how it writes the female characters. Deet and Brea (the two female leads) are very feminine heroines who are kind, empathetic, intuitive, clever and strong without it being showed in our faeces. Even when the female characters are warriors or soldiers there femininity is not devalued or see as a weakness. We also have more complex characters like Seledon and the gelfing leaders (who are all female) and it's just so nice to have a fantasy show that handels the female reputation so beautifully.
At the same time the male character's are also written with the same amount of care and respect, for example Rian (the main male lead) is a soldier who after finding out the truth about the skekies, is faced with the hard challenge of spreading the truth while dealing with loss and trauma, we see plenty of moments where his aloud to be vulnerable and we see him grow into a strong leader for the resistance.
We also have Hup who even though he is a side character, is a lovable podling who steals every sence he's in. He dreams of becoming a hero and has such a heartwarming friendship with Deet it's hard not to love him and want more of him.
All the relationships between the gelfing feel so intimate and pure, wheater there familial, platonic or romantic the show gives us so many beautifully written relationship and dynamics, that add to the emotional core of the story.
There's also some political drama with the gelfling clans and the skekies as they try to hold on to there power, it's done in a way that both kid's and adults can follow.
The action is surprisingly good for show with only puppets, we have sowrd fights, flying gelfings dropping booms, wild carriage rides and it's really exciting and done well.
There is only 1 season unfortunately but it's still worth the watch, I do have to warn everyone that there is a lot of scary and truely horrifying moments so if your sensitive maybe give this a pass, but there's a balance between the dark and whimsical and there's so many funny and sweet moment's that allow you two catch your breath.
This series is a hidden gem in the world of fantasy and that's a dame shame because it is everything you could whant from a epic fantasy story that we just dont see a lot of anymore.
I like shows like The Witcher and Rings of power but none of those shows have captured my imagination or sense of wonder like the dark crystal aor did. I have so much love for this beautiful, weird, creepy, wonderful, magical puppet show and I wish it got more recognition for the work of art it truly is.
The Dark Crystal Age Of Resistance is pure magic and deserve so much more attention. It's on Netflix so check it out if your looking for some good fantasy.

ok you've mentioned a sword lesbian getting sucked into a spider consciousness and i feel like i need the name of this series because that is a wild concept XD name drop, please?
MY TRAP CARRRRRRD!!!!
Tavra (sword lesbian) (tired) (middle sister) is a key main secondary character in the YA books spin off / au of The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance by J.M. Lee, of which there are 4
Shadows of the Dark Crystal (Naia POV) (Tavra has a bad day)
Song of the Dark Crystal (Kylan POV) (Tavra has a REALLY bad day)
Tides of the Dark Crystal (Amri POV) (Tavra has the most screen time but also depression. At least she's with her girlfriend again)
Flames of the Dark Crystal (Naia POV) (Tavra's bad day is mostly off screen but it starts and ends with her having happy moments with people she loves and that's allllll I care about)
she's the frowny grim slightly pathetic practical one who wants to believe in people, secretly dating the smiling yet somehow utterly scary cunning lady who's a bit more jaded about people's ability to change for the better than she is, but who also 100% believes that Tavra herself will always do that change without hesitation.
QUOTES TIME!!
Spider Tavra (hesitant): "My mother (the queen) will do the right thing."
Onica (her gf) (Sifa) (Far-Dreamer): "The right thing, eh? As she did when she found you were sneaking out to the wharfs to visit a Sifa Far-Dreamer?"
Spider Tavra (even more hesitant): "That was a long time ago."
Onica (sighing): "When your mother does the right thing, it will be what is right for the Vapra alone. She wears a heavy mantle in Skeksis colors, and it will not be easily changed for a suit of armor. Not everyone is like you, my love."
A Few Moments Later
Spider Tavra: "Brea (her little sister) is young, but she is not stupid. If she had reasons to doubt my mother, then so do we."
Tavra's also a bit too frank for a young insecure teen boy's ego to handle sometimes
Tavra: "I told you not to strike! If this had been a real battle, you'd be dead."
Amri: "Well, it's not. I thought I saw an opening, so I went for it. What's the point of practicing if you're not allowed to take risks?"
Tavra: "It wasn't a risk. It was a guaranteed failure."
Amri (has never used a sword before): "You don't know that."
Tavra (a soldier): "I did."
ONE BOOK EARLIER
Kylan (parents were killed when he was a kid): "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... do whatever I did. I just didn't want you to die. I hope you aren't angry with me."
Spider Tavra (ends up basically his new mom): "I'm not angry. My body will return to Thra. When my work is done, I will join it. Until then, I have no time to worry or complain."
(she will later find time to complain about not being able to hold her girlfriend anymore) (she and her gf will stick with Kylan at the end of the books, finally getting to have a life together like they always promised)
She's the second character we're introduced to (seen slogging miserably through a swamp) (a good set up for how life is mostly going to be going for her) and she kinda ends up as the foil / mentor for the three POV characters in the series
Knowing that her queen mother was both controlling AND distant explains a lot of her struggles expressing herself to the three teens suddenly dropped into her life, but also makes the fact that she tries so hard to keep them safe and learns to listen to them and cares so much about them VERY heartwarming
Tavra is the queen her people SHOULD have had....
... and also a gloomy sulker who sulks when she can't make herself understood
she's in the 1 season tv show of the same name too, where she is awesome and separated from her gf and the best sister ever and dies (probably)

In the first episode of the Clone High reboot, "Let's Try This Again" when Principal Scudworth sings a parody of "We Didn't Start the Fire," and sings "only reboots on TV," a picture of Jen and Kira is shown even though The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is being referenced.

“I won’t tell you [what the plan was for Age of Resistance beyond season 1],” the director told io9. “Because I still have hope that it can come back.”
“I mean, who would have thought that 37 years later that [we would’ve been able to bring Dark Crystal back]? So, I have high hopes. You know, it might not be me. It might be my grandson or, you know, Jim Henson’s great-grandson, but somebody will direct the rest of this show because we need to tell that story. And beyond. I mean, Thra is a place we want to go to.”

Old shows and series considered iconic are viewed as such because they were once fresh and new. Original.
Make something new, give it time and development. Stop cancelling new original shows and series after 1 to 2 seasons.
Reboots don't compare to the original. I honestly can't think of a good reboot off the top of my head but I can think of multiple original works off the top of my head that were great.
Nimona
(was a masterpiece 👏 I can't find the words right now, there's too much to praise. Recommend.)
The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance
( I enjoyed it, looked amazing, faithful to the original film. I do think it's flawed in some ways, but I'd rather the show flawed than non-existent. I hope it's picked up again. It doesn't have to be by Netflix. Just as long as it's faithful to the story and art form of puppetry.)
Super Mario Bros Movie
(a fresh take on an old IP, great film)
Napoleon
(cinematography was mwah, even if a few battles were left out and there were some historical inaccuracies, still an excellent film)
Five Nights At Freddy's
(not a masterpiece, but its a great film, and I was wondering how they would make the story work in a film format compared to a game format. Curiosity sated. It was a good direction. I'm looking forward to the sequel film)
The Mitchells Versus The Machines
(The animation style took a while to get used to, but the film was amazing. I can't say all I love about it without spoiling it, but I'll just say, I really love Katie as a character. There was also that really funny scene where her Mum goes into mama-bear mode. When I say mama-bear, I mean mama with the hostility of a mama-bear protecting her cub. If you've seen it, you know what I mean.)
#So Hollywood hasn't yet learned that people don't want all these reboots anymore?#Like Barbie and Super Mario are well known properties that have been around for a long time#But they both presented original stories that people didn't see before on the big screen#And people showed up for them#You know what people DIDN'T show up for?#Reboots and sequels#But sure Hollywood#Keep being lazy

What are good shows and movies (preferably in the sci-fi/fantasy/action kind of genres) with little to no sex scenes and a decent at least focus on plot and characters that’s available on Paramount Plus?
I’m thinking about trying the free trial to delay my bingeing of One Piece so One Piece keeps my autistic ass on life support longer but I’m hoping to acquire a small list so I can effectively make use of the free access before cancelling the day before it expires and tries to charge me (every streaming site is mostly barren of good content so I’m not shelling out the wonga unless there’s a good consistent stock of shows and/or movies to make it worthwhile) unless it proves to be an exception.
There was Dirk Gently, Castlevanias first 2 seasons, Umbrella Academy (until the character assassination of Allison Hargreaves), Final Space, and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance on Netflix (off top of our head) before they all got cancelled to give us more Big Mouth 🙃
There was The Tick, Truth Seekers, Star Trek: Lower Decks (which definitely got better as it went on I loved the character arc for Mariner just like I loved Isaacs journey in Castlevania), Invincible and Good Omens on Prime Video.
There was Andor, The Mandalorian seasons 1, 2, and a quarter of 3 until it became the Bo Katan Show, What If, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Loki s2, and Werewolf by Night on Disney Plus

really…they never cancelled a successful show…really!!!
“Netflix has cancelled Away after just one season. The announcement came down about six weeks after the show debuted on Netflix…”
“After it landed on Netflix on September 4th, Away rocketed into Netflix’s top ten lineup, even earning the coveted “#1 on Netflix” spot. Away spent several weeks in the top 10 Nielsen streaming rankings, peaking at #2 for its first full week of release. The show’s immediate popularity suggested a speedy renewal, yet we have a few theories as to why Away fell under the axe.”
“Away isn't the first popular Netflix show to suffer a shocking cancellation. In recent months, Netflix has cancelled fan favorites including but not limited to GLOW, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Dead to Me, Ozark, Altered Carbon, Teenage Bounty Hunters, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, The Society, and I Am Not Okay With This. Away's cancellation arrives as Netflix faces harsh blowback from fans, who have accused the streamer of cancelling primarily shows starring and created by women and queer creatives. With a female showrunner and a female lead, it's possible that Away is part of this disappointing trend.”
Nope Netflix never cancelled a successful show…nope not once.

I was tagged by @friend-of-giants to share 8 shows to help people get to know me better!
So in no particular order:
1. Sailor Moon (First TV show I remember loving)
2. Game of Thrones (excluding seasons 7 and 8, just you messed it up so bad. It reignited my love for complex fantasy )
3. Dragon Ball Z up to the Cell saga (Australian TV didn't really play past that, but it was on every morning before school. I had a golden Bulma Tazo token that made everyone jelly).
4. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (I'm still mad that the prequel to one of my favourite films got cancelled so quickly, especially with the ending).
5. South Park (early seasons were forbidden so I binged it all as a 16 year old and then kinda lost interest) but this is a shared memory amongst myself and friends.
6. Yellowjackets (most recent show but holy shit it has every fucked up little thing that I love).
7. Skins-seasons 1-4 (was kinda more appealing to me than Gossip Girl... I was an edgy 15-18 year old after all).
8. Mummy Roadshow (I could put a fair few archaeology based doco series here, but this one was probably the most important when it came to my eventual love of material culture and mortuary traditions.)
Feel free to answer this yourself! Also @darth-salem-emperor-of-earth if you want :)

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance - Season 1 (2019) Review
Go on Netflix, hurry up and give us a season 2 already! Yesss?? Pleeeaaassseee? Mmmmmmmmmmm?
Plot: Return to the world of Thra, where three Gelfling discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis' power, and set out to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world.
I was never really a fan of the original 1982 The Dark Crystal film. Don’t get me wrong, the puppetry work behind it was really decent, but story wise the movie felt quite weak, as it was yet another fairly generic quest for a hero to take something from A to B and save the day. And what do you know, he does! Wow, big surprise there. But The Dark Crystal did introduce us to the fantastical world of Thra, and in the movie we only got little teases of the kinds of creatures and sights that could be found there. Now, courtesy of Netflix, we have ourselves a prequel series set quite a few years prior to the events of the original film, and I must say that this show is nothing short from spectacular. Not only do we now have an actually engaging story-line that is both interesting and filled with twists and turns throughout, which I need to give props to the writers, since this being a prequel means we know what happens at the very end already, so having a prequel that can actually offer the element of surprise is really something. I truly was immersed in this series right till the last episode, and now all I can hope is for Netflix to greenlight a second season, as this is a show that definitely is something special and different.
The puppetry work is incredible and very much pays homage and respect to Jim Henson’s legacy whilst also improving on the effects due to how technology has progressed. The puppets are masterfully rendered to sets and CGI backgrounds to create a distinctively unique world and the result is absolutely beautiful. So many shots throughout this show are like a painting. And the puppets themselves are incredible, with the various species like the Gelflings and Podlings all having their distinctive look, and of course we see the return of the evil Skeksis who look just as vile and horrible as before. Visually this piece is nothing short of breathtaking, and you can just tell how much work and effort was put into this, so I must congratulate the entire team behind this production for the time and passion that they have dedicated towards this. Also, speaking of technical things, the music score by Daniel Pemberton - my goodness! I knew the guy had talent back when I saw King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and here he proves it again with a gorgeous musical accompaniment that literally transports you into another world. Really the stuff of wonder.
The voice cast assembled her is also one to behold. The likes of Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy (who I will one day marry without a doubt!!), Jason Isaacs, Mark Hamill, Alicia Vikander, Helena Bonham Carter, Mark Strong, Lena Headey, Keegan Michael-Key....the list goes on. It’s really amazing how many people they got into this thing. But the two stand-outs for me was Nathalie Emmanuel as one of the main three Gelflins, as she was both adorable yet also very powerful, and also Simon Pegg who note-for-note recreates the voice of Chamberlain (one of the Skeksis) that if I didn’t read the cast list beforehand I would’ve thought they somehow managed to bring back the original voice of the guy from the original film.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is a technical achievement and a fantasy epic like no other, that does incredible world-building with a strong voice cast, uniquely designed characters, an engrossing story full of surprises (there are actual stakes - a character can die any moment!) and overall one of the better TV shows of the past few years. Still dislike the movie though, sorry.
Overall score: 8/10
