Is it just me, or does it seem like most erer/i shippers are kids/teenagers? I have never been a part of that ship, but from what I have seen, a lot of the art also makes Lev/i really slim and feminine looking (with the "classical" anime nose that can stab you to death). It seems, to me, that erer/i is the younger part, who don't see the wrong in a 15 yo with a 30+ yo, while erur/i are the older part who likes tragedy and men with muscles, lol. Thank you for being you! Also, dig your art yo!

second off, this is gonna get long, ranty, and personal, so i apologize ahead of time.

i’ll start off by saying: yes, I think you’re absolutely right. not that it’s an all encompassing realization--there’s definitely older fans that like ereri, but i do think they tend to age eren up, and i’m absolutely not the person to shit on that practice.

my friends give me shit all the time because my other main ship is daiken--a ship between two 11 year old boys. and even though they’re razzing me (you bitches know who you are), it’s frustrating to try to explain that if i consume content of them, i only read/write/draw explicit stuff when they are aged up (my main AU has them in their early twenties). i do adore canon-age fluff--first kisses, hand holding, general friendship stories, etc. they absolutely give me life. but there’s no appeal outside of that.

the interesting thing about daiken for me, though, is that i started shipping it when i was 14. i took a long break in shipping it, but came back to it because their story is really appealing to, especially when i started to account for post-canon world exploration. so for me, it was never really “weird” for me, because i feel like i grew up with these characters--i drew one piece of smut for them when i was younger--but i was only 3 years older than their canon age.

also, i think there’s something to be said about younger characters being exposed to extraordinary circumstances that can unintentionally age characters up in your mind. it’s hard to imagine a character like eren having to go through all the bullshit he’s had to go through and then remember “oh yeah, he’s 15″. it’s hard to think about that with character like the warriors, who are maybe only a year older or so and not look at them and be like “you are absolutely the mental age of a 30 year old”. the disconnect between age and characterization can be easily muddled in fiction--almost to the point that it can be frustrating and bends your suspension of disbelief at times.

so what i’m saying is, if you’re closer to the age of one of the characters, i think you’re more likely to sympathize with that character. i can totally understand being 15, looking at a character like levi and being like “wow, levi is fucking hot” and latching onto the character that you most relate to--eren. eren is more attainable for a lot of younger audiences i think. not that he isn’t a complex character (i think most of the cast of snk is), but he is nowhere near as complex as erwin. it’s hard to understand the things erwin is going through without giving him your time, and i can understand not wanting to give him that time. fandom is just for fun, and if dissecting characters, plot, etc isn’t your thing, then to each their own.

so the age gap between ereri doesn’t bother me that much, tbh. it’s the least offensive aspect of the ship for me. i do believe that fiction is fiction, and even though it’s not my thing to see cutesy eren and levi bumpin’ butts, it’s not really my place to say other people can’t. i can’t relate to the younger mindset--i can’t put myself into eren’s shoes, and i don’t want to. but i’m not gonna damn them, because i used to be them.

what bothers me most about ereri is that i don’t think they have any chemistry. levi is a compassionate person, and i’ve discussed before how i think he had genuine appreciation and respect for eren (at least until the most recent chapters). i do think eren respects and looks up to levi. but they have a very formal relationship, and i think the canon supports this. i can’t, for the life of me, see levi being romantically or sexually attracted to eren. ever.

15~ years is a long time. fuck, even 5 years is a long time. that time is a long enough to really show the gap between life experiences and mental growth. i’ve seen it in my own life now--have become so incredibly aware of it recently--that my struggles are very, very different from a 20 year old still in college. i no longer can relate to that age. i can remember that i did it, but i can’t sympathize as well as i could have before. and i think that alone is where ereri falls apart for me.

i’m not sure if i got my point out. i hope any of that made sense. really, i just wanted to say i agree with you, and i don’t think you’re wrong. the maturity of eruri--emotionally, physically, and straight up age-wise--is very, very appealing to me.

How did they they meet?

Funny story, really.  See, Ken was trying to kill Daisuke while wearing a jumpsuit, a wig, and a cape.

Who developed romantic feelings first?

Oh, that’s hard...  I’d say that Daisuke was the first to feel a strong bond to Ken, but Ken was the first to realize that he was viewing Daisuke romantically.

Who is their biggest “shipper?”

Hikari

When did they have their first kiss and under what circumstances?

Daisuke stupidly kissed Ken without preamble, and Ken freaked out.

Who confessed their feelings first?

Daisuke.  With his lips.  By kissing.

What was their first official date?

After being friends for so long, it probably felt awkward to switch to dating...  I almost wonder if Daisuke wanted some big grand thing to differentiate it, but Ken had the opposite impulse?  They ended up playing soccer until they could barely move and scarfing down ramen at Daisuke’s favorite ramen-ya.

How do they feel about double dates/group dates?

Ken needs to keep the romantic aspect of their relationship private for a while, even from the Chosen.  This drives Daisuke crazy.  I don’t know if Ken is ever really down for double dates, although he is happy to join in group gatherings with no romantic context.

What do they do in their down time?

There’s friction with this as young adults, since Ken spends a lot of time studying and working and Daisuke works from afternoon to night in a ramen-ya.  When they have time together, they take it easy or hang out with friends.  It’s important to recharge because of their demanding schedules.

What was the first meeting of parents as an official couple like?

The Ichijoujis were thrilled to see Ken happy.  The Motomiyas were confused (“What does the genius celebrity boy see in our son?”).  The dinner at Ken’s parents’ apartment didn’t go very well because comments like that angered Ken.

What was their first fight over and how did they get past it?

Their first fight as love interests probably followed that first unexpected kiss.  Ken both wants and fears a romantic relationship with Daisuke and lashes out when Daisuke forces things into motion.  Then Ken withdraws, and Daisuke is left in panic/confusion/mortification/OHNOES.  

Which one is more easily made jealous?

Actually...  I think they both think they don’t deserve the other and are vulnerable to jealousy.

What is their favourite thing to get to eat?

Daisuke is constantly tweaking his ramen and asking Ken for opinions.  Ken is proud of him and likes his cooking, but he worries about nutrition and often has to talk Daisuke into eating something else.

Who’s the cuddly one? What their favourite cuddling position?

Daisuke is much more physically affectionate than Ken.  He loves to do a full body hug in bed, which Ken allows in return for restraint in public.

Are they hand holders?

In public, no.  At home, sometimes.

How long do they wait before sleeping together for the first time? What’s the circumstances?

The progress is slow because of Ken’s needs, but they have a ton of chemistry once they finally get going.

...Is this appropriate?  Is this like...  “who is dominant” or “who penetrates” or...???  Gosh I dunno, uh, usually Daisuke, but don’t count Ken out?  IDK?

What’s the worst first they’ve ever gotten into?

In my story Public Eye, they had a big fight when Daisuke kissed Ken in public and a picture was published in a tabloid due to Ken’s popularity.  I’m not sure what I think their biggest fight would be, but I know Ken has a tendency to withdraw and avoid Daisuke if he’s upset.  Daisuke is a straight-forward dude, so this ticks him off.

Who does the shopping and the cooking?

Daisuke handles the food.  Ken supplements with healthier options and buys the household items.

Which one is more organized and prone to tidiness?

Hahahaha!  Ken, although work often overwhelms everything.

Who proposes?

They’re painfully aware that they can’t marry in Japan or have any kind of relationship rights.  Daisuke says, “Fuck that!” and proposes anyway. 

Do they have joined Bachelor/Bachelorette parties or separate?

All of their friends take them drinking as a huge group.  No one remembers much of it.

Who is the best man/maid of honour? Any other groomsmen or bridesmaids?

Their wedding isn’t much a traditional ceremony.  They say vows and party with their closest friends.

Big Ceremony or Small?

Small and simple, outside, lots of alcohol for the humans and games for the digimon.  Probably ramen alongside fancier dishes, lol!

Do they have a honeymoon? If so, where?  

Somewhere private, relaxed, and quiet.  Ken needs to recover after the bachelor party and wedding, lol.

Do they have children? How many?

They can’t legally adopt in Japan...  The more I look this stuff up, the sadder I am ;__;
