Gotta agree it’s a goalpost situation. Cause listen, I love the canary curse, I love adding wings and feathers to character designs, but to push the goal from “Jimmy broke the curse” to “it’s been passed onto Lizzie/Mumbo” or “the coal miner died for the canary this time, Jimmy will soon follow” it’s just like guys, if you’re worried that canary!jimmy won’t be a thing anymore then continue to make it for yourself? It’s not that hard.

Like I like the deer!gem headcanon and while there’s more different headcanons now days, I still draw deer!gem and many others do. You can’t stop me with her, why act like you have to stop with jimmy?

Making up new curses to combat the broken canary one isn’t the point of that curse… Continue with the canary!jimmy if you want to or make something new.

The curse is broken, figure something out that you can do with that other than passing it on to someone else.

So. I think… maybe not THE reason but certainly A reason why I have never liked the canary curse is that the goal posts keep moving. The curse broke last season— no it didn’t, that was a fluke, no, it transferred, no, it needs to be broken twice to be Certain— No. Twice by the same person—

At that point it feels like holding a character hostage instead of allowing them to grow, y’know?
