Last week we did the list of top 5 anime females with black hair focussing on the cool beauties of the anime world. This week my attention shifts to the male characters and I think my main focus here was focussed and dependable. That said, there are an enormous number of males with ebony hair that I just could not fit onto my list so I would love to know your thoughts and who would have been included on your list.

Please note there are some spoilers in the descriptions below.

Honourable Mentions: Jiroh (Black Blood Brothers), Kazuya Shibuya (Ghost Hunt) and Gilbert Nightray (Pandora Hearts), plus the dozens of others that were considered and ultimately left off the list.

Number 5: Hei (Darker Than Black)

Whether he’s on a mission, infiltrating an organisation, reporting in, apparently having a break, Hei is always focussed on his primary goal, find out what happened to his sister. He might be a crazy powerful contractor but even before he became a contractor he was feared for his skills. he is one guy you do not want to cross because once he sets his sights on something, one way or another he’s going to make it happen and he’s going to look really good while doing it.

Number 4: Kirito (Sword Art Online)

Another highly focussed character and one I very much enjoy watching in action, Kirito does not let anything stand between him and his current goal, not even death. Plus, once you get through his protective shell and anti-social exterior, he’s actually a genuinely caring person who looks after those he considers his friends. While his tunnel focus might work against him when he gets fixated on single points and sometimes misses the bigger picture, in terms of drive it is hard to argue against his actions.

Number 3: Kuroh Yatogami (K)

If you are looking for dedication and loyalty than you can’t go much further than Kuroh. Not to mention the guy can cook and rocks that pink apron. Admittedly, there’s a bit of a disconnect between his good looks and personality when fighting to his more laid back persona and he definitely has some personality traits that are a little questionable, such as listening to the recordings of his dead master for guidance on a daily basis. Still, he’s a strong fighter, wields a sword, has an absolute sense of duty, and ultimately does what he believes is right. He is one very cool character for this list.

Number 2: Shinya Kougami (Psycho Pass)

I’d like to let the pictures speak for me on this one. Kougami is tough, focussed, and relatively unstoppable once he puts his mind to things. He’s also really great to watch in action. However, he isn’t a muscle head who only relies on his fists, he’s got a good head on his shoulders and knows when to use it. A pure joy to watch as he unravels the mysteries in Psycho Pass and seeks out his revenge.

Number 1: Sebastian Michaelis (Black Butler)

Was there ever a moment of doubt that Sebastian would not be number one on this list? The guy can do anything and look amazing while doing it. Okay, he might be a demon so has an unfair advantage. In a fair world, Kougami would be the number 1, however fair or unfair, Sebastian is perfect, except for the whole eating people’s souls things. That’s a minor hiccup in an otherwise flawless persona.

Tuesday’s Top 5: Anime Guys with Black Hair Last week we did the list of top 5 anime females with black hair focussing on the cool beauties of the anime world.

Micha lore part 2 oooooo

micha met his first ghost when he snuck out to the pool at night where he was chilling until he just thinks of a name and all of a sudden there’s a ghost guy next to him

he first thinks that the whole ghost thing is a weird hallucination and that he took a random pill earlier and just forgot but when it doesn’t go away he decides to see what’s up

he learns that the name he heard earlier was actually the name of the ghost Lucius! He also learned that Lucius did not look like the way micha was seeing him and decided to look online to see if they have a spirit doctor nearby or something

fun fact turns out there was

micha spent his whole $10 on his random spirit analysis and learned that he’s basically a finger trap for ghosts with them being able to come in but not leave, that he’s pretty resistant to ghost possession and it would take some serious sleep deprivation to get fully possessed, and that the appearance thing is because the physical form that the host of a ghost sees is just a hallucination and is based off of loose memories mostly and she gives him a book to deal with the ghosts himself since he didn’t have the $60 to pay for the official exorcism

he ended up reading this book every now and then listening to Lucius try to convince him to stab things because he’s bored and has some needs in his life.

Micha ended up refraining from the stabbing thing until he eventually got tired enough for Lucius to use Micha’s hand to stab himself and basically grabbed his head and chugged his dopamine production life leading him to do it more and eventually black out

one micha remembered what actually (and also had super long hair now yay) happened with the whole stabbing and dopamine hijack thing he tried to super quick see if his spooky ghost book had something to remove Lucius and picked the first spell that looked sort of correct

that’s where Merrill comes in

Micha did not look at what he was doing and actually summoned a ghost and that lady was Merrill and oh what joy they were Lucius’s ex girlfriend!

the two were in a mega abusive relationship where both were trying to kill each other when they were alive but both of them were a bit too slippery for the other until Lucius got drunk one night and Merrill slit his throat

so now we have a very confused and annoyed Merrill and a salty and angry Lucius and they hit it off like tectonic plates grating next to each other and made sure everyone would suffer just as much as them

so now poor 18 year old micha had to listen to two ghosts talk about their relationship issues almost every single day. anything one person said the other one would use as ammo to complain. (This is also around the time Micha’s hair started turning naturally pink)

Merrill got him into arson after learning the dopamine receptor trick and micha ended up doing that over his whole stabbing thing since less people get hurt so he’s doing that now

he got kicked out of the house because he was old enough for his dad to consider him “a man” and therefore should go on his own way. He had enough money for a small apartment and now he had no one to distract him from the constant noise of the ghosts

After this it only took a few months for micha to turn 19 and his wish was for his ghosts to die again and leave him alone forever so Merrill decided to do the next best thing

apparently no one told her that the ghost book thing didn’t work the last time so when she tried to see if she could exorcise her ex she ended up giving micha the gift of another ghost

Rita

The day micha actually noticed Rita is the day he tried to see if he could do a backflip off of his apartment with the ghosts stopping him immediately because if he was gone how would they get their stabbing and arson satisfaction if he was dead (so they sent him to the hospital after teaming up and possessing him for an hour)

Rita was by far the nicest to micha and would often compliment him and tell him how kind he was making all the terrible feelings feel a little bit less so when she finally asked for a favor he happily obliged

she wanted him to snap the neck of a puppy Yup she really likes killing animals

Micha really didn’t want to do this but Rita used her kindness leverage by saying that it was clear that Micha actually hated her and he would have never been nice to him. So with a slow turn he twisted until he heard a tiny snap. He would have cried if he didn’t get an absurd amount of dopamine and had vowed to never do that again (this will change)

after this he got super sleep deprived because all he could see was the terrible imagine of the things he’s done to himself and that poor puppy and tries to go for as long as he could without doing what the ghosts wanted until he suffered serious withdrawal

nowadays he tries to see if he can get the better of the ghosts and kill himself but makes his day by day doing small things for the ghosts mostly small fires because those are enough for him to not suffer withdrawal

his family hasn’t heard from him for a super long time especially his sister, and he hasn’t talked to friends in an even longer time and he hopes that one day all the icky feelings will go away one day

ant that’s where he is right now basically :3

No matter how hard Micha tries his escape attempt from his ghosts usually just ends up with him in the hospital and with nothing but a pumped stomach

His at home lobotomy didn’t go so after that he just went for traditional forms of dying but the darn ghosts are keeping him alive

Micha lore time part 1

so let’s start with Micha’s parents Micha’s dad (Fernando) dropped out of school at a young age and joined the navy and Micha’s mom (Ana) married him to get American citizenship and for some better opportunities

the two don’t really love love each other but they’ve been the only constant things in each others lives so they feel they should stick together no matter what

Mari (Micha’s sister yippee) came to them as a sort of accident. They were sort of thinking about having a kid but weren’t too surprised when they got her. Ana loved Mari and doted on her often, spoiling her and giving her all the things she couldn’t have as a kid.

When micha came it was 100% on purpose Ana wanted another daughter and Fernando wanted a boy so they rolled the dice and the genetic lottery gave Fernando a win!

Micha was less favored by Ana because she couldn’t do all the girl things she wanted to do with a second daughter so she had his hair grown out so she could at least play doll with his hair (occasionally put on a more feminine outfit on him when her husband wasn’t looking)

Fernando was very happy to have a boy but Micha really wasn’t shaping up to his standards of manliness. It wasn’t major stuff it was just little things that irked his dad like when Micha cried at dog movies, how his voice got higher and higher when he got madder, or when he didn’t want to do all the big contact sports. Fernando tended to call Micha a sissy, a weak little baby, and a girl pretending to be a man. He really does love Micha but he’s had these manliness standards since he was a kid so having his kid not follow them annoyed him to no end.

since Micha’s dad was in the navy he never really stayed in one place for too long and tended to only stay in one place for a year or two before leaving forever so micha never really made long term friends outside of the other kids on the military base (sometimes he’d get lucky and see them again) so he tended to be whatever a friend group needed just so he wouldn’t be alone

things stayed like that until Micha’s dad got a bad injury and got a bit skewed over by the government so they ended up with medical bills and a new permanent home

micha and his family weren’t unused to all cramming in a small house so it wasn’t that bad of a shift they just all had to share one bed (they are all helicopter sleepers they kick the whole night) and it was like that until Mari was about 16 and the family got a pullout couch and got some money from the government (lawyer family member for the win)

and so Micha lived a pretty normal life from then the moving when he was youn lead him to feeling like staying in one place for too long was really boring so he’d find random ways to distract himself he was a little chaotic but nothing too bad

then the ghosts came in :3 (I’ll make a part 2 soon)

fun fact the way Micha is able to resist ghost possession better than most same goes for mind control he treats them more like suggestions and he can ignore them if he tries lol

micha has always been super light and has really weak arm strength

the ghosts made this much worse and it got to a point where it just hurt to move causing him to stay inside way more

Sometimes he’ll have good days though and he goes outside for a while (if he wasn’t classified as a corpse right now he’d have some real vitamin D deficiency)
