WIP list tag
This is a very interesting tag, thanks @kittensartswriting!
Rules: Share a list of all the stories you’re currently working on, regardless of whether or not you have introduced them to writeblr.
"Currently working on" is something I have always run very fast and loose with since I tend to have a thousand and one projects on the back burners at a time. For this, we will do ones that I at least regularly think about as that is most of what leads to things actually being written eventually.
Warning that this ended up a long post since I am incapable of not rambling.
The Corvine (my main wip): in the process of the second draft of book one. Book two is in the outlining phase. Description: YA/maybe NA fantasy set in a fictional country in an alternate history of North America. During the Industrial Revolution, old magic is rising in the kingdom of Zondereck and danger presses in from another realm. It comes down to young Lennox and his friends to save the world, but really, all they want is to save themselves.
A Mind of Static (was my main before The Corvine): still writing first draft of book one, possible second and third books with some ideas jotted down. ((Recently the main characters underwent name changes no longer have basic white names, Katherine and Kaedan, but more appropriate and interesting names, Valencia and Vincente.)) Description: YA sci-fi with a heavy emphasis on a romantic plot. A girl wakes up in a field with no memory of who she is or where she comes from, thankfully the boy, Vincente, who finds her is willing to take her home, and give her a new name, Vilencia. But things are not as sweet as they seem, Vincente is a rebel fighter in a war that has been waging for decades, and it seems like Vilencia might be connected to it all.
Story with Gods (the ever titleless wip that was my main before Mind of Static): still writing the first draft. no planned sequels. Description: YA/NA fantasy in a modern setting. Three teenage girls are ripped from their normal lives, kidnapped and killed only to wake up in the custody of a tyrant king who tells them that they are “The Big Three” Greek gods reborn, and destined to change the course of a war they know nothing about.
Pawns and Queens a.k.a. the chess analogy: don't think I've ever mentioned this one here before since it's quite new. Still in the outlining phase. Description: NA urban fantasy (and wlw romance??). It's the summer after graduation, and best friends Samira and Melodie are nervous about their futures. But they soon start feeling something much stranger than nerves. When they both develop unusual abilities, the girls are sucked into a secret magical hierarchy that runs throughout human society. They are expected to fill the roles of Pawns and join the team of either the black or white Queen, but neither of them are very interested in playing this game.
The Orphan Experiments and The Truth in Conspiracy: eternal undefinable drafts babyyy. I've been working on these and stories in this universe since I was in 13 years old (8 years ago). Very much Middle Grade these-kids-were-experimented-on-and-now-have-superpowers easy, no pressure writing. There's another in this universe that has the first (kinda second) draft done, but I don't plan on picking that one up again.
Rays: I'm slowly but surely rewriting a story I started over a decade ago in fifth grade and finished an (understandably terrible) first draft of in grade 7. This book is my baby, even if it's a fairly basic Middle-Grade plot where an "ordinary" girl finds out she's magic and goes to a magical school.
And there are so, so many more wips in various stages of first drafts and outlines, but this post is already too long. These are the main ones I think about and work on.
I'll tag @ratracechronicler and @concealeddarkness13 (oh you two wonders of a thousand wips that I love hearing about), as well as You!
yes, you seeing this right now. You've read this whole or at least some of this post, which is surprising. And now I'm very curious to hear about all the writing projects you're working on (hopefully something you manage better than I do)
