linktober 31 - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I thought for the last day I'd write a little retrospective on what this whole thing was like and what I learned. I'm too tired to draw literally anything else I'm due for a break lol

So this was my second time ever attempting a linktober/october drawing challenge, but my first time managing to complete all the days and prompts. I feel super proud of myself and accomplished for pulling it off.

There were a number of things that were surprising and that were challenging for me that I wasn't expecting this month. If anything, I think this challenge really highlighted my flaws and mental blindspots with how I approach making art.

For one thing, I came away from this not liking everything I made. I think I only like about 9 or 10 of the 30 pieces I put out there. When I don't like my art, I tend to get stuck in this mental stalemate of refusing to finish a piece until I like it, but also refusing to retrace my steps and erase/rework what I have so far for fear of losing progress or not being able to replicate the line/angle/color/etc that I liked.

It was surprisingly hard to accept when I didn't like a piece but had to move on for the sake of time and post it anyway. But once I did it a few times, it got easier. I realized prioritizing my standards over my available energy is not gonna promote progress. If I kept sinking myself into one piece and not moving on until it was optimal, I never would have finished anything-- that was the pitfall that ultimately made me bail out 10 days in last year.

I also realized my sunk cost fallacy/"what if I erase this and can never redraw it good again" stems from some real lack of confidence in my knowledge and techniques with art. I'm self-taught, and I think I tend to believe that everything I make is a dumb happy accident, even though I have mental rules when I draw, use tons of references, and have a process lol. There are a few pieces I started over 2-3 times before I got them right, and that's starting to feel liberating instead of like failing to me now, which I never expected to come out of this experience so that's cool.

Another place I had to learn to let go of control in this was with allowing for style variation. I really wanted each and every piece to be coherent and painterly, like they all came from the same book or something. But then I couldn't decide whether I wanted to do all/no lineart, all/no detailed background, all/no heavy rendering, etc. At the end I settled on just keeping the same canvas dimensions and just prioritizing filling up the space. Glad I ended up doing this, because I really would benefit from continuing to chill out and scale back how much I default to making dramatic, high-render pieces. I gotta break out of my comfort zone and make more sketchy little guys!

Sometimes my attachment to the prompts fluctuated; some prompts I thought I would love and then just wanted to get them over with. Some prompts I thought I would hate and subsequently half-ass, then I ended up redoing them and putting more effort & time into and loved the end result!

It was funny to also see how some pieces that I loved straight up did not get a whole lot of notes or attention. Some pieces I was "meh" about did crazy numbers lol. I'm used to posting maybe 5-6 times a year on here, so I'm usually indifferent to getting notes (by which I mean, I'm super grateful for likes & reblogs and the super sweet & funny messages in y'alls tags, but I'm not butthurt when I don't get notes because whatever happens, happens). Churning out 30 pieces in 30 days made me sometimes get bewildered by what did and didn't get notes, but frankly in the end I think it helps reaffirm that I should continue putting whatever I want out there because it! is! not! graded!!!

So would I do Linktober again? Probably not, sorry! it was a lot of time & effort and took me away from fall festivities more than I would have liked. I kinda only managed to pull this off because I was transitioning between jobs this month and had a week off to just draw. But I also completely see the value in taking on a challenge like this and finishing what I started, I'm super glad I did this, I think my art improved from it. I would definitely do future drawing challenges/prompt things that are quicker or have less prompts!

My advice to prospective future linktoberers: pace yourself and be gentle; this is a great chance to do something exciting and new with your art, but above all it's about you having fun. There are no prizes at the end except for what you've learned and how you feel about it, and that's for the best!!

One thing's for sure, I am zelda'd out lmao so I'll be branching out towards some little projects I have lined up for personal art and other fandoms I'm into right now

So i’ve recently become a little fan of yours from your small, silly tadc comics and im just wondering how you come up with them and generally just how you make them (like how you set up scenes and what not lol). I’m pretty new to procreate and digital art as a whole and wanted some little tips since i’ve sort of hit a wall with trying to make comics digitally.

I'm so glad you've enjoyed the comics - Oh boy so -

How I come up with them: Most of the time I have a central idea I want to explore like 'What If Caine had the Players go through a Grueling Medieval Adventure with a Promise of a REWARD, but the Reward is literally the thing they want least (Princess Caine smooches, anyone?') or 'What if Ragatha was the one to do something Really Bad (descriptive, right?) because It's hard to imagine she, out of everyone there, ever would' .

Most start out super loosely, not super planned out, and with a rough bit of dialogue written down (Not for the Princess Caine one...and you can tell, the dialogue is repetitive and meh, I came up with on the spot lmfao)

As for setting up scenes: Most of the time I very roughly plot out each page/panel/ 'scene', trying to figure out the angle that will give me the emotion I'd like to portray most.

Something as simple as this, I meant to evoke a sort of 'tired, long journey come to a close' sort of vibe with a flat distance shot without detail and sleepy coloration. Almost cozy idk

I purposefully left out Ragatha's facial expressions here and foreword to give a bit of unease in her decision, and angled shots down at Jax to give the impression that he's not in charge here. For once he needs her help. (there's no way he couldn't have climbed that himself tho asdjhdlsdh)

I aLSO only put detail into panels where I wanted to evoke the most feeling. Some panels took literally 5 mins, others a lot longer. Pick your battles!

Not great examples? But both of these I made pretty quickly without too much plotting - just a 'strong' central idea I wanted to explore. I hope that gets the idea across!

Honestly I almost didn't post the Ragatha and Jax one - didn't like how it came out! But I did anyways and most seem to enjoy it, even if it's highly non-canon and a little iffy. (I also didn't plan each 'scene' out, just doodled only enough pictures to get the idea across, it could have benefitted from more but...eh.)

I'd say just GO FOR IT when it comes to comics! Try to get a strong idea or emotion across, it doesn't have to be a super detailed or long comic. Don't worry about how people take it, people have different opinions. The important thing is you learn with every page you post! Look at lots o' references, or just explode colors and shapes over the page (A healthy mix of both, perhaps); sounds lame but most importantly make sure YOU are having fun with this!

My thoughts on the Wicked movie teaser trailer... so far.

Before you pop off in my replies and reblogs yes I know, this is just a teaser trailer and not the official tralier. Regardless that doesn't give this movie a magical critique pass. Most of my critques on this teaser come from my own thoughts and some of points raised in this post. This is also just me rambling into the void. Don't like don't read lmao.

If you've been following me for a while, then you already know my opinion on the Wicked movie and casting. Surprise surprise, you guessed it... I am extremely underwhelmed and disappointed. For so many reasons.

I'll start off with some things I like.

Johnathan Bailey is hot asf as Fiyero. (even if he looks way older than Fiyero is canonically meant to be)

The set and props. I think some of them actually look pretty neat. I'm glad they didn't use a green screen for Shiz and put in the effort to build a university campus. The train from Shiz to Oz looks kinda dope. I was always wondering what it would look like and I'll probably use that as inspiration for my fics and art comms.

Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard. I won't lie, I haven't seen a lot of movies with Jeff in them so I was cautious about his casting. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much his look and his performance so far actually fits Oscar. Time will tell if he can hold up to those standards.

I'm happy a WOC is playing Elphaba. Everyone complains about Fiyero not being racially book accurate but nobody talks enough about Elphaba being discriminated against as an amalgamation for rac!sm. More women of color should play her on stage.

THE NAILSSSS. Come on people this is the Wicked Witch of the West we're talking about she should be SERVING WITH THOSE CLAWS! Although personally I would've preferred them sharp but I'm over here with almond arylics what do I know lol.

I'm happy they casted a disabled actress to play Nessa. I always wondered why they never did that.

With that out of the way, let's get into a million reasons why I hated this trailer and why I'll most likely hate the movie anyways.

Arianna as Glinda. Look, I don't hate Ari. I like some of her songs and even bought some of her perfumes because I like smelling good. At worst I just don't care about her. However whenever I see Arianna as Glinda, I'm sorry I just don't see Glinda, I see ARIANNA GRANDE dressed in last minute cosplay for a Halloween party. I heard one line... ONE LINE from her and the delivery is NOTHING like Glinda's character or cadence, it's just Ari in drama class.

The wigs and costumes. What the hell was the makeup and hair crew thinking when they selected that wig for Arianna???? It's an ashy dull blonde that brings no color or life to the character. The #1 thing about Glinda is her vibrant blonde hair, it's even mentioned IN THE SONGS. MULTIPLE TIMES. This wig looks like a botched bleach job. Then, there's the costumes. Good lord what are those glasses on Elphaba's face??? I get they're trying to be all "whimsy" and "peculiar" in tone with WOZ, but they just look silly. Why not stick to the glasses in the musical? Why overdo it? I fear how the Emerald City sunglasses will look (if they even add those in) Also why are Glinda's clothes so dull? Where's the vibrance? Where's the pink frilly coquette contrast to Elphaba's dark coquette?

The camera work and Elphaba's entrance. This is Wicked the musical. I'm expecting a huge and grandiose presentation, especially when it comes to THE MAIN CHARACTER. Showing Elphaba from the back of her head in slow motion while she's walking to the entrance is just... boring and an overused cliche. Not to mention the underwhelming reactions from the extras. The cinematography is just meh. I'm expecting better for a fantasy film. It's been done before.

Cynthia as Elphaba. Listen, Cynthia is a great singer and talented actress. I have absolutely nothing against her. With that being said I'm going to be brutally honest: much like Arianna, she is not Elphaba... at least not entirely. Like Johnathan, Cynthia is way older than Elphaba is meant to be canonically and the editing team clearly used the de-aging filter on her to the point where it looks unnatural. If this movie had been made at least five years ago or earlier Cynthia would've fit perfectly.

Continuing my point with Cynthia: the singing. I'm sorry but what the hell was that riff with Defying Gravity??? I'm not entirely blaming Cynthia for this because this has become a massive problem with a lot of musical film adaptations which I like to call the popification of songs. It happens in nearly all the live-action Disney movies and I'm sick of it. What confuses me is STEPHEN FUCKING SCHWARTZ is involved in the musical production. He wrote the god damn songs, how the hell does he not direct Cynthia to sing the right note instead of letting her do whatever she wants??? I don't think he did that with Idina, which is why this riff is so iconic. Come on, if a tiktok meme trend can do that riff better and more accurately than an actual singer can, that's just embarrassing. I'm not good at explaining myself in terms of singing, so I'm hoping a youtuber I occassionally watch does a reaction video to the trailer and does a better job at explaining than I can.

The acting. Like I said with Arianna, the delivery is so bland and dry. I'm trying not to judge all of the acting on a teaser trailer but if this is how the leads are going to act throughout the whole movie then I'm disappointed.

Too much CGI in some parts. I get it. This is a fantasy movie there's bound to be certain effects you can't do practically. But that's no excuse when this is a $145 million dollar movie. The flying monkeys are so painfully obvious CGI. This was a wasted chance to get Doug Motherfucking Jones to play Chistery in prosthetics. So much of this movie ends up looking like those garbage Oz spinoffs. (If you know you know) The CGI is just bad. The bubble and Emerald City buildings look so cheap.

WHY IS THIS MOVIE SO DARK? This is suppossed to be OZ! Why do I have to turn up my brightness to look into the shadow realm???

Now onto some things I'm confused about.

Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible. I'm praying to god she'll blow us away because she's such a good actress and is serving c*nt in her costumes. I haven't heard her sing (I'm dumb but unless the opera song she sang in EEAAO was her then WOW!)

The silver slippers. I KNOW! I KNOW! The ruby slippers are copyrighted and can't be thrown in all nilly willy wherever you please. But keep in mind this is a 145 MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE ALL FOR PART ONE. Do not tell me they couldn't shill a few extra bucks on signing a few contracts. AND YES I KNOW. The musical uses the silver slippers in the first act in ode to the L. Frank Baum books which I love, but don't forget, they turn red when Elphaba enchants them to give Nessa the ability to walk. Dorothy shows up after Nessa is killed and has her shoes stolen. Why aren't they red now? Not to mention most of the audience might not know the original slippers in the books were silver. This would've been a great chance to combine two different canons.

Finally, why did John Chu absolutely insist on this being a two parter movie with a year long intermission? Is this shit show really that fantastical that it can be akin to Kill Bill part 1 and 2?

That's pretty much it for now but expect an update to this post with a reblog with updated thoughts when an official trailer drops. My mind probably won't change though. I'm totalllllyyy not considering pulling an Eddy Burback sneaking into Morbius for a week when this movie comes out lol.

The suggestion wasn't for you btw, just seeing the topics of your asks and posts on the tag, really. I find things so weird sometimes. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if they want to be adamant, so be it, I just think they'll be really frustrated and may end up hating the show. And the whole point of entertainment is to be fun, lol. Sure, it won't always be sunshine and rainbows, specially here, but it should be overall a good experience? And I think this show is basically perfection. Yeah, there are things that I would've done differently, but they're such punctual decisions. I have never been neutral or disliked anything/anyone here, let alone hate. I find all the characters, ships, episodes so wonderful. It's only been 2 seasons and so many of my favorite scenes ever are from IWTV. And not that things outside the show matter that much, but I really appreciate how they love the show, the books and get along. You can see they love what they're doing and have fun. It's great when they're do it out of love too and not just to pay the bills. It's really lightning in a bottle. And I have never seen that on any other show or movie. There's always something that's meh, or a character that I hate, or one weak season... But here, things already started so well and just seem to be getting better. And the fact the discourse here is such a mess and there's so much complaining has me wondering what do these people like? I'd expect that for other series and movies, and gosh some really deserve this kind of negativity, but IWTV????? I just don't get it. Maybe the hard truths that this show confronts is hard on some people, idk. Anyway, not really a question, just rambling lol.

In the official video Rin and Len have their default outfits so i decided to make my own desins for this, I'm actually really happy with these minus the chalky color of the hair.

I tried to give them a cozy feel because thats the emotions the song gives yknow and i think i pulled that off, the color scheme is also reddish brown because the song is about a coffee shop so i think that is a cool detail. I tend to avoid color schemes like these but I think i managed to make it work. Also I was cookin with Rins hair its so nice, I allways like messing around with the Vocaloids designs when I do this sorta thing I think the curls and making it slightly longer really work with this song. I've never made a len desin for anything so his is more meh lol.

anyway heres one unfinished drawing

this was for the "eiga mite mo ii ne, karaoke demo ii ne, aiteru ka mite miyou ka" part, rin was gunna do a little bounce and len would pop up when his line happens. The mv mostly would be in my normal style rather than this chibi one I think i also planned to use chibis for the part about rain idk

the bell ringing would be.... the bit where the bell rings at the start. IDK why this is so well animated but it is good job me.

JD 2025 Previews: Week 3

I'll be honest, i got spoiled on this song from the Just Dance Wiki (since some random store leaked this song)

I personally don't listen to Shakira, but i thought this map was good (I'm a sucker for pirate like characters so yeah-)

Idk if this is actually Shadow Rider (since the hair is very similar) I personally don't think it is but since the JD team has been reusing alot of coaches this game, it could be her but i don't want to jinx it

She just came out and i already have lore ideas for her (idk if i'll actually post it here lol, who knows though)

Another stop motion map! And this is a cute one!

For me, these kinds of maps are easier to dance too, so its nice to get an easier song after playing a few difficult ones lol

The coach is cute, and i love all the details in the background (another reason I love stop motion maps)

Don't got much to say, but i think this map is very cute, can't wait to play it!

This map seems very cute and fun! I love the coach's costume (she's giving off fairy vibes lol, she might aswell be a fairy since she's so small so)

The choreography seems fun, and i love the way they made the background seem bigger and making the coach smaller in comparison

Overall, this map is my favorite out of the previews, can't wait to see it all next month!

I honestly thought the detective mentioned in the Eva Chase lore short was Inspector Thomas Dance (from The Master Blaster) since he was the only detective coach at the time

I love her and Eva's relationship already (judging from the drawings in the background), it would be cool to see Eva actually appear maybe towards the end of the map (just to tease her lol)

This map is great

...i just have one criticise-

This is just me but...her outfit is hideous, there, i said it

I know this is a classic detective outfit, but i'm just not fond of the orange color scheme (i thought her outfit was gonna be purple when i saw the teaser post, mainly cause of the purple highlights)

I would just perfered if the JD team gave her a different color scheme, but that's not gonna happen

Overall, i like this map, i just don't like her outfit (idk if i'll get used to it in the future...)

She got such a glow up! She looks amazing!

The background is also cool, i love how the ground moves below her (i do think it is a bit weird for a map like this, but i still like it)

Don't got much to say, but it's nice to get more lore on Woodcrown High School and the other students there (speaking off, can't wait to see Ari's map)

Basket Case didn't really deserve an alt, the original map was good enough (i wouldn't have mind for an extreme in my opinion)

Don't get me wrong, i love seeing accessible maps like this, i just don't think this song fits with the whole bathtub theme

I like the vibe of the coach i guess, but they could have given this alt a different song in my opinion

AND there you have it, for me, this preview list was kinda...meh (which is weird for me cuz i really didn't have much of a negative opinion on any previews from 2023 or 2024)

I guess i just don't get mych of the hype for these songs (the only songs i've heard were Poker Face, Unstoppable, Yeah!, Sleigh Ride, and Party In The U.S.A)

But despite that, i can't wait to see next weeks previews (hopefully a SKZ song pls🙏)

What is the hardest part of your life right now, and what is the easiest? I think the hardest part is not having any sort of employment. I think I make it pretty clear I want to be a self-employed photographer, but that's not easy to achieve, at all. Not having a job plays a massive role in my depression, and for just being insanely fucking bored nearly all the time. Which further feeds my depression, and lately has been causing my anxiety to ramp up, too, because I'm so bored and understimulated that anxiety can just bulldoze its way into focus. Then there's the obvious factor to not having a job: I don't have my own money (I don't receive help from the government), which in our society, feels fuckin' bad. I can't help my mom (who I live with) financially, and she's deep in the fucking hole with money right now. We don't even have a working car right now. If our landlord wasn't who it is, I can assure you we wouldn't have a home right now. I kinda wish for my own sake Mom wouldn't even talk to me about this stuff because I can't fucking help. Uh. For the easiest part of my life... I'm sure SOME people would argue being unemployed, I don't have a lot of responsibility, but it's fucking hell and I promise you there's not a damn thing to envy. I'd rather be DOING shit and supporting myself instead of having to rely on my mommy for everything like a newborn. I guess in MY opinion... it'd be having a house at all? Mom and I hate it here, like a lot, but at least we're not sleeping in the cold or fighting for shelter from the rain. I don't even like talking about this, living on the streets is my biggest fear and it's just more terrifying knowing how easily that could be us. We were already homeless once, but at least we had people to house us. I'm in a bad mood after this question lmfao

I love the people I associate with there and I feel like it's a much more politically left place (yes I'm full aware not everyone is and dark corners exist) than the shit I see on Facebook and stuff. I USE Facebook more, but it's so easy to get pissed off there at the shit you see. I think Tumblr is definitely better at catering towards your interests and stuff. Like no, Facebook, I had no interest in seeing a proud-as-hell father and his son posing with bloody wolves they'd shot to look as if their corpses were smiling at the camera. We've seriously talked about me and working and Girt really doesn't care if I never do (he's pretty fortunate with his job and he's probably going to keep climbing the ladder there), even though it's anxiety-inducing to him because he worries about what happens to me if he dies or something. But ultimately, he's fine if I'm a stay-at-home wife, which he knows I don't WANT to be and he very much encourages me to keep pursuing photography or art in general, but if that's how it happens, well. My point is though, I should really be patient.

Are there any specific skills or areas of knowledge you would like to develop or improve upon? I would like to become certified to handle venomous snakes, solely for the purpose of relocation if I know someone who needs to get rid of one. I'm very protective of all snakes, but I have a soft spot for venomous species since they're so quickly killed by people, even if they just SUSPECT it's venomous. Or if it's just a snake at all... I've taught myself to be able to identify all my local snakes (although I can't differentiate species of Nerodia, I just know a water snake when I see one), so I can guarantee I'd be able to recognize the venomous species that live in my area, and with certification, I could safely transport them away from where they could be harmed. I wanna point out that I would NEVER handle a venomous species with my bare hands; that ain't my jam. I would never go beyond a snake hook.

I mean, it's a 700 episode daily soap opera from the early 80s, so it's a very different animal from Wentworth. I kinda run it in the background and half pay attention most the time. It's the exact kind of thing that I find fascinating on many different levels, and it's fun to see how they may have gotten from point A to point B when they were making Wentworth. I was only gonna watch a couple eps at first, but now I'm DEEP into it. 😅 But I'm a sucker for exploitation-type media anyway, so maybe it was inevitable.

Not a secret at all! I've got kind of a colorful creature-themed patchwork sleeve building on my right arm, and one black and grey warrior demon lady on my left arm that hopefully some day will become a black and grey sleeve. A few on my right leg, and David Cronenberg from Nightbreed on my left leg.

1. I’m officially sushi-ed out for a little bit. I had chirashi mon night. Omakase Tuesday lunch and then sushi again wed lunch. Got me feeling like meh it’s just ok. Lol.

2. Yesterday I went to Trader Joe’s with the girls and we got a ton of snacks. It’s fun eating with them. They’re totally molded in my way of snacking. I got them the frozen macarons and they love those. Then tonight for dessert we ate some strawberries and cream ice cream thst naya picked out topped with freeze dried strawberries. Then we just ate the rest of the freeze dried strawberries on their own. Then I wanted to try these everything but the bagel mini chip things and they’re very garlicky and oniony. I don’t think I love it but I like it enough to eat this bag. Prob just won’t get it again. Naya wanted to try it and she did not like it lol. Then she wanted to eat pistachios so we ate those too. Oh also while they were showering we all shared a bowl of blueberries plucking them out one by one. Naya told me not to say they’re blue but to say they’re a different color when she asks (think she picked that up from an Alice and wonderland 5 min story where the Cheshire Cat tells her to pick the blueberries even though they’re red). Anyway so we start calling them every color. Then every body part. Then everybody in our family but with Berry at the end. How simple the jokes and laughs are now.

I’m truly a bit terrified for when the girls become teenagers and they become mean to us. To be fair we can be mean to them too. Jason and I mock naya lately lol (“I wAanT a pRimCesS drEsS”). So I guess 싸다 싸.

3. I was spiraling a bit planing Nayas bday bc nothing was available but finally Jason was like do u want me to just tell u what to do? And I said yes please. And he said just do pp even if it’s at 2 so I finally succumbed. I cannot think abt it any longer.

4. I am on the second to last chapter of my book. Can’t believe it’s finally come. I have to rewrite the entire book but still I can’t believe I’ve got a draft of a book (almost). I am going to try to take a one month break from it (we’ll see if I can stay away) afterward and just read tons of books, write other things, and then crack the whip and try to finish it up with what remains of the year.

Kai: Is not a huge ice cream guy but will still eat it when the opportunities arises. Pretty meh about the Dairy Dragon; all ice cream places are the same to him. Is a little wary about the villain flavors and generally avoids them. Likes lemon + berry flavors primarily, but will try something wild like a chilli pepper flavor or a spiced chocolate and wind up utterly addicted. Has a topping called "Kai Krunch".

Jay: Loves ice cream, but likes Ice Planet more than Dairy Dragon. Flipped his shit upon seeing the Bananakhan flavor (especially because Skybound events aren't erased this time around ahahaaaaa), but is also amused by the fact it's a banana-flavor. He likes ice cream that has "Stuff" in it, like cookie dough, brownie pieces, fruit bits, peanut butter bites, cheesecake pieces, candy crunches, pop rocks, etc, etc. It's about the texture for him (...and he tends to get Kai Krunch loaded on top of everything, but don't tell Kai that)

Cole: Love ices cream, indifferent on Dairy Dragon. Amused by the villain flavors and thinks there should be more, but will not say that to anyone's face. Like sorbets and sherbets the most as he had those for dessert a lot while growing up, but otherwise isn't all that picky. Has a flavor called "Cole's Rocky Road", which is just Rocky Road, but it's very popular Jesse buys it by the carton

Zane: Indifferent on Ice Cream and Dairy Dragon; much prefers ice pops as a frozen treat. He does make a habit of tasting the villain flavors just to see if they're accurate lmao. Has no real partiality to any flavor, but makes Ninjapolitan his go-to, since its four flavors are based on him and the Core Four (which is cherry, (blue) raspberry, blackberry, and french vanilla).

Nya: Likes ice cream, liked Dairy Dragon until Bananakhan became a flavor (she was always more of an Ice Planet gal anyway), aaand is a huge chocolate ice cream junkie. The "Nya Special" is literally chocolate ice cream filled with chocolate brownies filled with fudge and covered in chocolate syrup and fudge sprinkles, and just looking at it is enough to put even Lloyd into a sugar coma.

Lloyd: Loves ice cream and Dairy Dragon, but is the vanilla fan. "You can make vanilla into any other flavor, but you can't make any other flavor into vanilla, and plus vanilla is always good by itself", is his motto. Hates the villain flavors and is especially put off by Mango Morro and is a little bitter about how popular it is snksnknsnk. "Spinjitzu Swirl" is actually a flavor based on Lloyd specifically, which is essentially a green-colored cake batter flavor with frosting (...which exists and I have had it. It is to die for).

Jesse: Prefers frozen yogurt to ice cream, not that he won't eat ice cream. Likes mystery flavors or not knowing what he's going to get, because he likes being surprised (in this specific instance lol), and finds the villain flavors to be a bit distasteful. Also really enjoys Ninjapolitan and Spinjitzu Swirl. Lowkey slips in some suggestions for a "Fruity Fuchsia" flavor. The time will come, he's sure of it.

Antonia: Ice cream is like her favorite treat ever, but doesn't even discover Dairy Dragon until way later on and kicks herself for it. Doesn't mind the villain flavors, but thinks they could be more creatively named. Is a Buttered Pecan kind of gal, but otherwise just gets whatever she's in the mood for. Is also a strong advocate for making "Fruity Fuchsia" a thing, but for different reasons.

Harumi: Used to like ice cream a whole lot, but the novelty wears off over time. Will still go to the Dairy Dragon if Antonia's egging her on about it. Likes strawberry the most, sometimes shares in Kai's penchant for spicier flavors...but is also unfortunately a huge fan of Spinjitzu Swirl and Ninjapolitan (she tried the latter out of spite) and there's literally nothing else like it in the world so she has to get that specifically if she wants to indulge RIP. Would also actively boycott Fruity Fuchsia if it existed hgdhsfhfs

Miranda: Not crazy about ice cream but certainly isn't going to turn it down either, especially if it's from Dairy Dragon (which Nelson gets her hooked on). Surprisingly has simple flavor preference, as her go-tos are mint chocolate chip and cookies & cream. Also has a whole list of idea for future villain flavors that they could and should use (such as Time Twin Tropicana, Pythor Punch, Mechanic Marble, Overlord Overload, and a Garmadon popsicle with gumball eyes)

Olivia: Might be contradicting something I said previously but she tends to avoid ice cream—the cold is really sensitive on her teeth. She can force herself to eat it but it's not usually a good experience. She does, however, like chocolate-flavor almost as much as Nya does, and can manage some salted-caramel flavor on occasion as well. Attempts to destroy the Dairy Dragon once or twice just to figure out how it manages to stay standing throughout everything lmao

Pixal: Does not like ice cream at all, but can be encouraged to at least try a bite or two, but will never go overboard with it. Therefore, indifferent to Dairy Dragon. Can stomach some vanilla on occasion, but like Zane, would probably go for a fruity ice pop first.

Skylor: Has not really had the chance to indulge in ice cream until getting off the island, and then the Dairy Dragon winds up becoming one of her favorite spots. As with her drink preferences, like a lot of the more tropical flavors (pineapple, coconut, dragonfruit, etc) and finds things like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry a bit bland. She can get behind citrus flavors, however. Really hopes they don't make a flavor out of her dad—she's already got enough bad publicity to deal with.

Bridget: An Ice cream hater, somehow even more than Pixal.

Sunni: Is lactose-intolerant and probably shouldn't even be eating ice cream but that's not going to stop her from indulging in Ninjapolitan or Spinjitzu Swirl snksnksnksn. Would also probably die if she attempted to eat the "Nya Special", and very loudly attempts to boycott Bananakhan (with reluctant help from Samantha).

Harleigh: Not a big ice cream fan herself, but is lowkey waiting for them to make an ice cream flavor out of Ronin (for better or worse)

apologies for the week and a day late blog ...

this week is spirit week !! :) i was a little busy last week with testing and the week before that i was filming a LOT for a short film project i had to do !! i really hate being busy, but you gotta do what you gotta do for school >_<

there's not too much i'm excited for this week, but i get to go to homecoming this saturday (which i already mentioned <3). i finally got my hair done for it too, which is big, curly, and blonde, so i'm one step closer to achieving my classic hime gal dreams !! i ordered the dress long before the theme was put our though, so i'll stick out like a sore thumb .... but that should be alright :))

looking back at my photo album, 2 weeks ago wasn't very eventful co*de wise. i just wore a lot of stuff i've worn before, but that friday i was a manba cowboy (which was a SUPER fun look!). as for last week, a lot of my co*des were rokku and goshikku, but generally halloween themed <3 the stuff i ordered last post came in, so i just wore a bunch of it IMMEDIATELY lol !! only that thursday my co*de was really meh, but only because i had to wear white that day. monday i wore this super cute red and black co*de that i wear a lot!! it was basically a long plaid skirt with my black tank top and my fingerless gloves. i took a LOT of selfies thag day. tuesday i wore hot pink and black, my favorite color combo, and it was a little different from the usual, i'd say ! my clothes were very baggy and big instead of tight fitting. and my shirt was designed as the skeleton bones. wednesday i wore a striped off the shoulder purple and black top (though i couldn't really figure the shirt out), a long black skirt, and a spider headband !!thursday was all white, blegh ... and friday i styled my ruffled pink and black skirt with a vest and a pink tank top instead of the usual black tank top :)) as for today, for spirit week, i'm a hot pink and black nurse for career day

i'm VERY excited for tomorrow because my grade is doing 80s day, and my perfect idea is the workout/yoga outfit !! i'm planning on blending 80s makeup with gyaru, so it'll be super cute <3 i don't care for the rest of this spirit week, but my other school will be doing a spirit week next week so i'll try doing that as well :) i don't really know about the school spirit stuff, but i just like to dress up LOL.

anyway... last but not not least, my favorite co*des that i'vd done so far !! i'm just gonna pick 4 instead of 2 since it's been 2 weeks :) i hope you enjoy and see you next weekend (probably) !!

Long time no see huh

I have a bunch of stuff to post that I don't really feel like going through the hassle of organizing, so instead I’ll post a 30 minute redraw of an eye.

Anyway, since it's been a while since I painted (I can thank uni for that), and I just finished a sketch of a big painting, I wanted to do something to warm up. I remembered a very old drawing of Alies’s eye I did ages ago. I actually redrew it in the past, but i don't think I ever posted it... so ill post everything here.

So the original, from 2017, is one of the oldest digital drawings I still have on my pc. And it shows lol

I think this is actually a screenshot because I didn't know how to export back then. there’s not much to say about this tbh. it’s 6 years old, so obviously it’s pretty meh. But I had to start somewhere.

The next one is from 2018, when I started actually painting (with no lineart). Already the shape are wayyy better, and I learned how to use blending modes, which kinda carry the entire thing lol

now for the 2023 version, Alies’s design changed a lot, so it doesn’t look like the eye of the same person, but  I wanted to use his current design bc I like it more.

I really like how it turned out. It’s kind of insane to think that these were made by the same person. The 5 year progress is very satisfying.

Hello, was thinking of making a webtoon and I was wondering if you had any tips for comic creators?

uhfnjd heres some off the top of my head:

- use the process thats easiest for you! i know csp has a lot of comic page settings/presets but tbh for me (right now anyway) its way too complicated and too much work..,.its easier to just use the grid and box tool instead of creating panels with all these layers and uhfjdf no thanks

- not every panel needs backgrounds!! 1 actual background every 4-5 panels (or one per page if youre doing pages) is enough!! just to remind the reader where they are!! otherwise use patterns/colors/etc

- look at other webcomics to see how they handle certain situations!! like if youre wondering “hmm is it weird to use x here? / can i get away with x?” just go look at other comics to see if they do the same!!

- try to make diverse panels!! its okay to do a bunch of face shots, but ive read comics before where literally every panel is just a face shot and its meh LMFAO! try to use different angles, scenes, etc. one of my favorite things to use in panels to break the monoteny is 1) panels with NOTHING but speech bubble(s), 2) panels that show an element of a scene (like outside the window, the sky, the scenery, etc), 3) off-center whatever it is. cut off their face by half the panel. frame it cinematically. 4) weird framing like just the very top of their hair or something

- dont be afraid to make your style look silly/dumb. chibify your characters in funny scenes. make them low-res. not every panel needs to be the mona lisa (in fact you should save all your effort for the high-impact panels)

- on that same note, dont waste time on bad panels!! ive had that feeling before where i wanted a certain panel to look good but it just DOESNT for some reason?? either 1) erase the whole panel, do other things, and return to it a day or two days later to try again, or 2) just leave it. let it be ugly. odds are its not even that ugly, its that your style is honing. i GUARANTEE it looks just as fine as your other panels to your readers (plus theyre gonna spend 2 seconds on it reading the speech bubble and then move on)

- (this is very specific to me, but) backgrounds dont nessecarily need to be super detailed. obvious if the background is the focus of the panel and youre trying to communicate something with it, it should be clear, but otherwise you can get away with just the impression of a street/shop/room/etc!! again, dont waste too much time on things people will spend 2 seconds on!! as long as their brain sees it and goes “room,” youre fine!!

- its ok to choose a style for your comic that makes your life easier. obviously i would LOVE TCWG to be in full color but its just way too much work for me, between colors, shading and backgrounds (especially since its harder to use plain/pattern backgrounds in color comics), so i purposely chose a comic style where i rarely have to shade, and only use the gray spectrum and lots of plain white!!

- make sure you pace yourself!! a lot of my tips are things to streamline the process/make things faster or easier bc i would hate to spend so much time and effort on an episode, and once its finished people are just clamoring for the next one already!! which is sort of the bane of comic creating. i would prefer loosely connected one-shots as opposed to an ongoing storyline, because after finishing a one-shot im like “yeah!! people can enjoy this wholely and i can rest!!” vs. posting a 2-3 parter and after finishing one im like “damn i gotta do the next one soon so we all can sleep easier” and its a lil tiring LOL!!!!! ofc people rarely harass me for the next episode, but it does have a lil pressure when you leave a cliffhanger for over a month LMFAO!! 😭😭😭
