This is your friendly reminder that Rabies has a mortality rate of 99%.
Here are some possible ways of encountering rabies:
-Rabid wildlife bites your pet.
-Rabid pet bites wildlife.
-Rabid wildlife bites you or family member.
-Rabid pet bites you or or family member.
No matter how anti-vaccine you are. If there is 1 vaccine you should take advantage of its the Rabies Vaccine. You got less than 1% of surviving, if you delay care.
That 1% depends on if you can get immediate urgent care and post-exposure prophylaxis vaccination of the patient. This includes bites, scratches, even nibbles.
Rabies can take about 1 week or even up to 1 year after exposure before it decides to start attacking your nervous system, that includes your brain. And by the time symptoms appear, its usually too late.
The vaccine's been around since 1885.
TL;DR.
Get your pets vaccinated.
Protect your pets.
Protect yourself.
Protect your family, especially the kids.
Protect wildlife, because if they don't get exposed to rapid pets they don't spread it to the other animals in the environment.
