7:16 pm
“Sunghoon. I'm so serious. I need you to stop talking before I shove this pen into your throat.”
Your best friend, Sunoo, being part of a band had its perks, it was hard to get hit on by greasy strangers when you're surrounded by 7 men you, for the most part, trust. It had its cons too… the biggest being the existence of Park Sunghoon. He was cocky, always made fun of you, and seemed to make it a point to push you to your limit. The only positive you could think of was that he was, at the very least, eye candy. Unfortunately for you, he was still part of the band, and he was still one of Sunoo’s closest friends. There was no changing that.
You'd only been out to dinner for around half an hour. Jake had found some pizza joint with drinks and cheap food. In that half hour alone Sunghoon had made fun of your height, and your choice of clothing, and bumped into you a few times which you assumed was on purpose. The food hadn't even made it to the table. Whatever the reason, you especially weren't in the mood for his shit today.
“Aww, I'm so scared.” Sunghoon leaned back in his seat, arms crossed over his chest. “You gonna throw a hissy fit, huh?”
“You know what.” In one quick movement, you shoved your chair backward and slammed your hands down onto the table as you stood up. “Fuck you, Sunghoon. I'm going.”
Grabbing your purse and heading toward the door, Sunoo called after you. “Where are you going?! At least tell me where! You didn't even drive here!”
“Anywhere that isn't with that asshole!” You slammed the door behind you.
“Damn. What's up with her? I thought you were just joking around.” Sunoo murmured and shoved his face into his hands. “I should go after her. It's not safe to be out around here alone. Sunghoon, you're coming with.”
“What about the pizza-”
“Get up.”
“Fine.”
7:23 pm
In the meantime, you'd slipped into some grimy little dive bar a few streets down. The cleanliness was questionable, and it smelled concerning at best, but you supposed they didn't serve food. Perhaps the standards weren't so high. Fighting back tears, you slapped your card down on the counter and waved for the bartender.
“Give me something strong. I don't care what it is… Please.”
Thanking the man and tossing your head back, the shot burned the entire length of your throat. “Shit tastes like motor oil… guess I got what I asked for.” You sighed and ordered a cocktail. Something fruity, something to lift your mood.
A man took the bar stool next to you, placing a hand on your shoulder. “Did you come here all alone?”
You hesitated, feeling uncomfortable already. “No… My friends are in the bathroom. They'll be back in a minute.”
“Playing hard to get? I watched you come in. Not a soul following you.” He pulled the thin strap of your shirt and let it snap back against your skin.
“Fine… You got me. Can you just let me be? I'm not in the best mood.” You chuckled half-heartedly and swatted his hand away.
“Aw, this kitty has claws. What's the matter? I just wanna talk. I can cheer you right up.”
By the time Sunghoon and Sunoo made it to the bar, you were a few too many drinks deep and desperately trying to convince the man to leave your side. They'd checked every building in the area, asking if anyone had seen a girl yay high in a black crop top and long black pants.
You heard a set of footsteps approaching you from behind, clutching your purse and preparing to have to fight.
“Leave her alone, shithead.” Sunghoon’s voice rumbled over the snide comments of the stranger. “She's not into you.”
“Who are you? Her boyfriend?” He scoffed.
Sunghoon cringed slightly at the suggestion he'd ever date you but gave the man a shove all the same. “What's it to you? What? You can't get some pussy so you creep on lonely girls at the bar, huh?”
“Why you think pretty highly of yourself, huh? How about we take it out b-”
Taking note of the commotion, the bartender waved over security who grabbed the dirt bag by the collar and dragged him away, much to his displeasure.
“Thanks…” You muttered and stirred the ice of your cocktail with your fingernail. Your heart was heavy, a predator replaced by the most insufferable man you'd ever known.
“Don't mention it.” Sunghoon stopped and for a moment you thought you might've misjudged him. “I just did what Sunoo told me to do.”
“Oh? Great to know you care about me soooo much.”
“Don't get your panties all in a twist, jeez.”
You shot a razor-sharp glare to Sunghoon and stood up, moving behind him to cling to Sunoo’s arm.
“Sunghoon, get your act together and apologize when you can bear to act nice.” Sunoo sighed and pulled you into his arms tightly. You were crying into his shoulder now, staining the dark orange fabric of his sweater.
Sunoo was a constant for you, you'd known him for years. He was always there to support you and the familiarity was something you needed far too badly.
“Come on,” Sunoo tapped your lower back with his finger. “I'll pick up some drive-thru and drop you off at your apartment. Sunghoon, go back to the boys. I'll meet you there in a few.”
8:00 pm
The drive back to your home was quiet. You didn't say a word, staring absentmindedly out the window. Sunoo hummed along to the songs on the radio which provided you some small amount of comfort. Walking you up to your door, he brushed the hair out of your face.
“Stop crying, alright?” He smiled and wrapped his arms around you again. “Get some rest. I'll talk to Hoon… call me if you need me.”
“Thanks. Love you, man.” You nestled your head into the crook of his neck for a moment before pulling away from him, then you slipped into your apartment. You peeked your head out the door until he reached his car safely and then collapsed on the couch.
8:37 am
You awoke with a start, jumping out of your skin to the sound of someone knocking firmly on your door. You threw on some modest pajamas and opened the door, immediately pissed. Sunghoon. At your front door. Admittedly he looked incredible. His long black coat was double-breasted, adorned with silver buttons, and taken in at the waist to compliment the shape of his body. His pants were just as well tailored, and his shoes well polished.
At some point in the night, it had snowed and was continuing to snow now. Sunghoon’s ears and cheeks were flushed pink by the biting cold. Fluffy white snowflakes decorated the black hair that landed so naturally to the sides of his face and more landed on his lashes before he quickly blinked them away.
“What do you want?” You avoided his gaze, shuffling your feet and feeling defeated.
“Sunoo thinks I'm here to apologize.”
“So you aren't?”
He simply shrugged and questioned if you were going to let him in.
Reluctantly agreeing, you sat down on the couch with him clear on the opposite end. Neither of you said a word, but you could feel him staring at you even while you looked away.
“I was just messing with you, y’know.”
“You know I don't like it.”
“I know you overreact.”
You snapped your head to look at Sunghoon in bewilderment.
“You know what I know? I know that I hate your guts.”
“You gotta learn to calm down and take a joke.”
You were standing in front of Sunghoon now, annoyed at the way he lounged back on the couch and man spread like he owned the place.
“Honestly, Sunghoon. If you just get out of my fucking house you can tell Sunoo you apologized, and I'll even back you up. I was sleeping pretty peacefully until you got here. To be entirely truthful, I could die happy if I never saw your stupid hot face again! I could live my whole life without seeing those dark eyes or the little moles that dot your face and be-”
“Hot?” Sunghoon raised an eyebrow. “You think I’m hot?”
You stared at him stunned, not even realizing what you'd said. You opened your mouth as if to speak but nothing came out. Those same deep brown eyes you'd thought about more than you'd ever admit were now resting heavily on your form.
“Shut up.” You hissed and crawled on the couch, straddling Sunghoon's lap and crashing your lips against his.
He gasped, processing what was happening, before grabbing your waist with his large hands. He attacked back with vigor, forcing your bodies closer together. Despite having spent time in the freezing cold, his body was searing. He tasted like bitter coffee, the scent of it lingering on his breath and mingling with the scent of your perfume.
“You know I wanted to like you,” You tugged on his bottom lip with your teeth. “I've always thought you were so fucking fine, but every time you open your mouth I pray to whatever higher power that you shut up.”
“You seem to like me plenty right now…”
“Stop talking. Please.”
Sunghoon made some sort of acknowledging nod, allowing you to settle back in. Your chests were pressed firmly together, your hands tangling through his silky black hair. Heavy breaths filled the surrounding air, panting against each other's faces with lewd strings of saliva connecting you.
“Hey,” Sunghoon’s voice was laced with need that made your stomach swirl. “I-I'm gonna be honest. I'm getting really hard here but if we're going to go farther I need to know if you really want to do this or if it's just the heat of the moment you'll regret later.”
You smoothed Sunghoon's hair back and pressed a kiss against the tip of his nose. The tenderness of your action made his train of thought falter.
“I mean it when I say I hate your guts,” You growled. “That unfortunately doesn't mean I hate the way you feel against me. Please make yourself useful, I want it.”
He let out a breathy “fuck” and lowered his hands to your ass, urging you to give him some kind of friction. He sheepishly heeded your warning of getting too greedy, you reminding him this was out of the kindness of your own heart. Sunghoon latched onto your neck, his sharp canine teeth nipping at the sensitive skin. Something was too good about the warmth of his mouth with the slight pain of his bites that was soon soothed by his plush lips.
“Sunghoon,” You moaned softly. “Bra. Take it off… if you even know how.”
He was quick to oblige, grabbing the hem of your nightshirt and aiding you in slipping it off. You donned a sports bra, one that closely matched your skin tone and featured a zipper up the front. You insisted they were more comfortable to sleep in and easier to remove this way.
The confused “ah?” that escaped Sunghoon was almost cute. He took the zipper in his shaky hands and unzipped it almost painfully slowly, biting his lip at the sight of your tits suddenly being free of their confines and spilling out.
“Damn…” Sunghoon muttered with wide eyes, making you feel suddenly vulnerable.
“So now you like what you see? Men. All the same.” You looked to the side in an attempt to hide the deepening blush on your cheeks.
Only after sneering, Sunghoon happily took your tits into his hands, squeezing lightly. His tongue swirled around your nipple, purposely avoiding the bud itself. Your hand rested on the nape of his neck so you could encouragingly (or rather, impatiently) dig your nails into his skin so he'd cut to the chase. Sunghoon harshly sucked your nipple between his teeth, tugging and swirling it in the process.
Sunghoon felt he could stay in this position forever and be completely content with his decision. He shuddered when you scratched his nape softly, trying to get his attention.
“As nice as this is… I didn't agree to this so you could use me like a stress ball.”
He considered making a snarky remark but thought better of it. The sight of Sunghoon’s flushed face and furrowed brows almost stressed you out, praying he couldn't feel the pulsing of your cunt against his lap.
“Alright, I'm sick of this…” You sighed, smirking at the way Sunghoon’s face twisted into a pout. “I think I'm going crazy, just get your dick out.”
The two of you scrambled off of the couch, removing most of your clothing in a hurry. You kept your panties on at first, allowing Sunghoon to rip them off of you as long as he bought you a new pair, a pair even nicer than the ones he'd ruined.
Settling back down on the couch, you lay on your back with Sunghoon moving to hover over you. Sunghoon freed his cock from the confines of his briefs and gave it a few languid strokes for good measure. The sight of him nearly stole your breath. He was of pretty average length, but girthy with a pleasant curve to the left.
Feeling precum drip onto your thighs, you huffed and pulled Sunghoon into a brief but harsh kiss. “I've been insulting you and treating you like shit this whole time, yet you're leaking all over the place. You like it when I'm mean to you, hm?”
“I… I guess I can't deny it at this point.”
“Slut.” You murmured, which caused Sunghoon to gasp in protest.
“I'm not a slut, what the hell?!”
“Yes, you are. Why else would you be so worked up from me degrading you? Say it.”
“Absolutely not.”
“Sunghoon. Say you're my bitch or I'm putting my clothes back on right now and kicking you out.”
“Fine… I'm… I'm your bitch.”
Sunghoon despised the electricity that shot through his core when he heeded your demands. What the hell was he doing? He was supposed to be the one in charge, the one calling you names. Yet, the humiliation that burned his cheeks clouded his mind with hazy arousal.
You reached down, wrapping your hand around Sunghoon’s cock so you could guide the tip to your entrance, rubbing it in small circles against you.
“Are you ready?”
“As I'll ever be.”
Sunghoon's reply came across so softly, whining when you urged him to finally push into you. Every inch of him stretched your walls so intoxicatingly.
“Oh, fuck,” Your breath hitched once his hips finally pressed against your skin. “So good, Hoon, so good.”
“Ah? I haven't even done anything yet. That's all it takes to-”
“Watch your mouth.”
“Sorry…”
His thrusts were slow at first, too slow. You could tell he was absolutely relishing in the feeling of your walls around him, this would have irritated you if it didn't stroke your ego so well.
“Sunghoon,” He hadn't moved in a minute. Just staying in place with his eyes screwed shut, panting heavily. “Earth to Sunghoon. Speak to me or I'm shutting this whole operation down.”
Sunghoon’s eyes shot open, his pupils blown wide with lust. His hand moved to grab your own tightly. “W-wait, I'm ok. Promise. Just… so tight. Please.”
A moment later, Sunghoon seemed to regain his icy composure. Every slap of his hips against you brought a low grunt from him. Yet, every so often he faltered with a whine. He was trying his best to maintain some dignity though deep down he knew he was slipping.
Suddenly, your phone rang. Blasting some shit default ringtone you never bothered to change. You groaned as you reached for your phone, squinting at the brightness of your screen. It was Sunoo.
“Keep it down,” You warned. “It's Sunoo. I gotta pick up or he's gonna show up at my door.”
Sunoo sighed in relief when you greeted him. You sounded awake which was enough to convince him that Sunghoon had come to apologize like he instructed. You told him it had gone fine, that Sunghoon apologized and left, though you still hated his guts. Hah. Ironic, given he was in your guts at the present moment.
Snap. Sunghoon had apparently grown sick of waiting and granted a particularly rough stroke that slammed into your g-spot. You just about dropped your phone, doing your absolute best to stifle the noise of pure shock and pleasure that you let out.
“Y/N… you ok?”
“Yeah, I’m good. Sorry. Just stubbed my toe.” You feigned pain quite well to try and pass off the aforementioned moan as an unpleasant one.
You found yourself gripping Sunghoon’s hair tightly and pulling it angrily. Unfortunately for you, Sunghoon did not try to hide his reaction. Not that he had much of a chance to process how good it felt.
There was radio silence over the phone from you and Sunoo both.
“Y/N was that Sunghoon?”
No reply.
“Y/N.”
“I gotta go, I’ll call you in a bit. Byeee!”
“Woah, hold on, wait a sec-” Sunoo was cut off by you ending the call and practically throwing your phone across the room.
“Oh. Oh we’re screwed aren't we?”
Sunghoon’s voice speaking meekly sent a wave of ire through you.
“Oh. Oh we are. Guess what? It's your fault too.”
You sat up, causing Sunghoon to slip out of you. Grabbing the silver chain he'd so foolishly left on, you yanked him toward you, causing him to lose his balance for a moment and hurriedly try to settle on his knees.
“Oh, fuck!” Sunghoon's breath caught in his throat as you tilted his head upward and smacked him square across the face. He was trembling visibly.
A realization hit you with horror and intrigue. He was loving this.
“Oh my God! You really are getting off on me treating you like shit!” You smacked him again, this time with more purpose and calculated force. “You're no better than a common whore!”
“Don't stop. Please don't stop!” Sunghoon was absolutely desperate. He'd tried to explore this aspect of his sexuality before but hadn't had luck finding a girl willing to indulge him. He absolutely couldn't lose this now.
Pushing him into place so that you were now hovering over him in turn, you closed in on Sunghoon like he was your prey.
“Is this what you wanted, hm? Is this why you dedicate your time to getting under my skin?”
Sunghoon, at this moment, thought he could die. How could anyone be so indubitably hot? He felt vulnerable under you. Powerless. He was always the dominant one. Not just sexually. Tall, hot, imposing, and a man that people generally didn't want to mess with. You weren't scared of him. Sunghoon didn't understand why, but somehow he trusted you. Finally, he granted a reply. Perhaps it was time to give in.
“Yours. I wanna be yours.” His voice was barely above a whisper. “If I knew we'd end up like this I would've pushed harder. So, take it out on me. Whatever you want, I can take it.”
You could not believe your eyes. Your ears. Any of your senses. This wasn't an opportunity you were going to give up. You took a timeout to establish any hard boundaries and a safe word. You hated him (did you?), but he was still a person at the end of the day.
Sunghoon sat on the bed with his back against the headboard. You bound his wrists together with white rope that was specially designed with this in mind, then tied them to the posts of the bed. Normally it was being used on you. He looked gorgeous with the snowy bindings contrasting beautifully on his tanned skin. You cupped his cheek in your hand.
“Look at you.”
You forced your thumb into his mouth, pressing down on his tongue so that he'd open up, spit pooling before running down his chin. You always did appreciate his sharp canine teeth and now was no exception.
“You dirty boy. Park Sunghoon, all at my mercy.”
Sunghoon flinched when you took tight hold of his sore cock. You kept your grip tight with every deliberate stroke, causing him to whimper and buck his hips up against your hand. You released him only to place a firm slap to his shaft which you followed with soft soothing tugs. Sunghoon yelped, slumping over helplessly. He'd become so pliant for you, so obedient.
“So this is all it takes, Hoonie?” He whimpered at the pet name. “Just needed someone to boss you around to crack you open.”
You spent god knows how long teasing and tormenting Sunghoon until his cheeks were wet with salty tears. Eventually, you felt like you were torturing yourself with how needy you were with your pussy clenching against nothing. You untied Sunghoon’s wrists and granted him permission to touch you again. He took you up on this eagerly, his hands roaming your body mindlessly.
“Be a good fucktoy and maybe I’ll let you cum.”
A choked moan ripped from Sunghoon’s throat when you finally sunk down onto his cock. He was even more sensitive and jumpy than when he'd first entered you, and you were even wetter. One hand placed on his abdomen, you felt his stomach distend and shudder along every pathetic sob. Sunghoon's stomach was well toned, not rock hard, but sculpted. He had a noticeable happy trail that drove you absolutely insane.
Sunghoon clung to you like he might lose you, allowing you to ride him to your heart's content and doing his very best to thrust up into you at the same pace. The more overwhelmed he got, the more he struggled to keep up. His head was buried into the crook of your neck, drooling and whining against your soft skin. He really has lost all his will to maintain his attitude towards you. It almost made you melt.
“Sunghoon,” You softly raked your fingers through his silky black hair. “You doing ok, hm?”
“Y-yes, love your pussy, wanna cum-”
Your pace slowed down to a consistent level. You held Sunghoon as close as you could. He’d entrusted himself to you and you felt the need to keep him secure.
“Alright,” Your voice was soft in his ear. “Cum for me. You've earned it.”
Sunghoon let go with a high-pitched cry, his thighs shaking underneath you. His cum flooded your walls in warm spurts. Your orgasm followed soon after, squeezing each and every drop of semen from Sunghoon’s twitching cock.
The two of you were quiet for some time, clinging to each other and coming down from your highs. Once you pulled off of him, his cum spilled from your pussy down onto his hips. Though he clearly wasn't completely clear headed he was already making moves to get his clothes on and go.
“Where are you going?” You frowned.
“Uh. Home… I figured you would just want me out of here as soon as possible.”
“Sit down, Sunghoon. Just sit down.”
You tossed a loose t-shirt on and hobbled to the bathroom with a groan. Your legs were already this sore? You were so fucked tomorrow. Cleaning yourself up quickly, you proceeded to wet a cloth with warm water and make your way back to Sunghoon.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why are you doing this, Y/N? Why aren't you kicking me out?”
“It's aftercare, Hoon.”
“I…”
“I know. It's ok. You deserve it just as much as any of the girls you've slept with in the past.”
In the midst of you wiping the tears off of his face, Sunghoon looked up at you so weakly and did his best to keep himself from crying on the spot. He never expected you to let him be so exposed, never mind how sweetly you were treating him now. You handed Sunghoon his briefs and a throw blanket.
“I’m sorry, Y/N. For being such an asshole. Everything I’ve done for you was willing, even if it was Sunoo’s idea. I actually couldn't stand the thought of you being alone in that bar with strangers. It's just… when our reputation for fighting is so strong it's hard to let you know I care.”
“It's alright. I accept your apology. I think I should say sorry too, though. For refusing to let you in. You trusted me to watch over you in your most vulnerable state and I… I don't know. It will take time but I think we can really be something.”
Crawling into bed, you invited Sunghoon to stay awhile. It was still early, after all. You rested your head on his chest, listening to his strong, steady heart. He hesitantly grasped your hand.
“To new beginnings?”
“To new beginnings.”

"Cheesy" Leon Kennedy x Reader
(A/N: What if you were set up on a blind date with Leon Kennedy? This is extremely self indulgent. You could picture any age of Leon, I guess. Also, Reader works at a school in this.
Warnings: awkward/nervous interactions, use of (Y/N), (mx), and (Y/L/N) for your names, pizza topping preference for cheese, language, and mentions of Leon’s arms.
Word Count: 4,087 words)

Your friend knew people, could network like no other.
But set you up on a blind date?
You were anxious. Curious, but nervous at the thought of going on a first date with someone you had never met.
Your friend knew you well enough. Knew some of your preferences in a partner. A good amount.
You hoped.
They had gotten your permission to try finding someone.
“Stop giving me that look.” Your friend laughed. “I’ve only heard good things.” They sipped from their cup of coffee.
“Only good things?” You asked.
They crossed their arms. Staring at you from the other side of the table.
“Well, I mean…like what? What’s his name? What’s he look like? Does he know my name?”
They laughed and nodded. “He knows your name.”
“And?” You leaned over your lunch.
“He has a steady job, his name is Leon, he’s interested, and you’ll like what you’ll see. That’s all I’m saying.”
“But is he nice? Clean?”
“Yes and listen, I basically asked fifty questions before fully considering this guy. And he had agreed to the pizza place you suggested.”
“Oh. Okay, cool.”
“Everything’s set for Saturday.” They beamed.
You exhaled hoping to calm yourself from the news.
Maybe this’ll be fun.
. . .
Saturday afternoon and the lunch rush was on its way.
Thankfully, you managed to arrive early. You could not think of arriving to your destination any later.
Nerves and excited curiosity filled you.
The pizza place was one of your favorites. Kind staff, good food, and a chill atmosphere. A nice small restaurant for a date. Nothing fancy and you would be able to hear your own conversation.
At least I picked a Saturday, you thought, Friday evenings are wild. Especially right after school.
Entering through the front door, you did a quick glance around the small waiting area. The smell of fresh pizza was a welcome delight.
Definitely not them, you thought as you watched two families trying to shush their children. Probably waiting on someone.
Squeezing by, you walked up to the server station. The little podium looking thing no one was standing behind.
You waited a moment.
And breathe. This isn’t a job interview or anything.
Running your hands over your clothes, you were still happy with your choice of outfit. A flattering soft of casual.
“Hi. Welcome,” a young woman rushed up to stand behind the station. “Sorry for the wait. How many today?”
“Two,” you said. “I’m meeting someone.”
A flicker of thought shown in her eyes and she asked, “Are you (Y/N)?”
“Oh. Uh, yeah.” You answered, clearly surprised.
“Is your date’s name Leon?” A small smile peaked the corners of her lips.
“Yeah…”
I thought they didn’t do reservations.
She walked around the station and gestured toward the dining room. “Right this way, please.”
Wait. Can I pick for a booth or somewhere not by the restrooms? Who would make the reservation? You thought as you followed her.
A good amount of the tables had hungry guests chewing between conversations. None too obnoxious.
Still, the woman led you forward, blocking some of your view.
You were starting to get the feeling you weren’t early enough.
Coming to a stop by a booth, the young woman turned enough to speak to you and a man who stood up upon your arrival.
“Here we are. Do you know what you two would like to drink or should I give you a minute?”
Locking gazes with the man, you swallowed.
You really wished your friend would had told you how handsome your date was.
You blinked and answered, “Ice water.”
“Uh, water, please.” He said and cleared his throat.
You caught the server’s smirk.
“All right. I’ll give you some time to look over the menu and I’ll be back.” She left with her notepad.
The last window along the wall illuminated the man’s brown hair and expressive blue eyes.
“I’m Leon,” he said and offered a small smile, “hi.”
“Hi, I’m (Y/N). It’s nice to meet you.” You gave a smile of your own and a small wave you wished you hadn’t.
“Yeah—uh. I’m glad we could do this.” Leon glanced over to the booth and gestured quickly.
The both of you took your seats across from each other. Two menus lay on the table between.
Maybe he’s nervous too.
“So,” Leon tapped the menu, “I have to ask… What’s your favorite topping?”
“Not pineapple.”
“Oh, good,” he chuckled, exhaling some tension. “I wasn’t sure if we were going to have a debate on our hands.”
“I hope not. I’ve always preferred extra cheese. You?”
“I’m not too picky. I like pepperoni. We could—”
“One water and one ice water.” The server placed each glass on its own paper coaster. “Do you know what you’d like to order?”
Crap. You thought and eyed the menu.
“Would you like to share a pizza?” Leon asked. “Half cheese half pepperoni?” His blue eyes holding a soft kindness within.
Here come the butterflies. You took a steady breath and nodded.
“What size?” She asked, holding her tiny notepad.
“Medium?” You looked to Leon.
“Medium.” He agreed while glancing over to the server’s notepad.
“Alright.” She tapped her pen.
“Thank you.” You said as the server left again and took the menus.
That was fast.
Taking a long sip of the water, you were grateful for the coolness. A nice refresh to ease you and cool you down.
Because your date was hot. Simple as that and yet you were still taking time to process the fact: you were on a date.
No weird vibes. That’s good. You thought as you set the glass down. And he got here before me! Peering up, you saw your date glancing around the dining room.
When he caught you looking, Leon smiled. “This place is nice. Do you come here often?”
His words made you crack a smile. “A little bit. Not as often as I used to.” You lowered your voice and added, “I usually make my own pizza now.”
Lighting up with interest, Leon leaned his arms on the table. Quite muscular arms shown well with his button-up shirt.
“You make your own pizza? It’s better than any takeout, huh?”
“Not gonna lie,” you sat a little taller, “the dough’s a lot better and no grease on top.”
“Sauce preference?”
“Family recipe. Homemade.”
Leon grinned. Clearly you were making an impression.
The butterflies in your stomach returned tenfold.
“Favorite cheese?”
You crossed your arms over the table and thought on it. “My favorite cheese…is whatever I have at home.”
That earned you a snicker from your date.
“Have you made pizza before?” You tried your hand at a question.
Food was an easy topic it seemed. Pizza mostly.
Hair shielded some of his face as he tilted his head, Leon squinted his face and admitted, “I’ve made pizza orders.”
“So, no?”
“No.” He affirmed. “I should.”
“Maybe one day.”
He nodded softly.
So far, Leon was easy to talk to. Your date thus far would rank less awkward than talks you’ve had with overly curious neighbors. You were more than grateful for that.
And he has a really cute smile. You thought as silence filled the table.
“How are you?”
“What?” Leon perked up as if the question caught him completely off guard.
Perhaps it did.
“How are you?” You asked again, trying to put all of your honesty into your tone.
Exhaling, he turned his sights out the window, but only for a moment. “Better than I expected.” His blue eyes held your gaze. “I’ve never been convinced to go on a blind date before.”
You were surprised with how relieved you were with his answer.
“This is your first blind date too?” You whispered.
Both of you took a moment to read the other. Making sure and double checking. Learning through observation.
Once Leon nodded, you sat back with a relieved exhale.
“Oh, thank goodness. I thought it was just me. My friend wouldn’t even answer all my questions.” You laughed lightly at yourself. “I’ve been making myself nervous.”
“Is that a rule?” Leon asked. “My friends refused to tell me shit.”
Covering your mouth, you muffled some of your laughter. Mostly, anyway.
Sitting back against the seat with a light affectionate smile, Leon managed to look twice as handsome and twice as comfortable. It made you start to wonder why he didn’t already have a partner.
Then again, he was probably having a similar question.
“What questions did you ask? No judgement.”
“No judgement.” He repeated, thinking.
Bring it on. We need to know more about each other. More than just pizza anyway, you thought while drinking more water and waiting for the pizza.
“Yah know, I asked what you’re like first. It’s a good start.”
“Good question.” You said, partially stalling as you thought to answer. “I’m…a hard worker, creative, uh…,” you trailed off. “I sound like my résumé.”
He smiled and said, “I won’t ask for references. Promise.”
“I’m really honest and empathic. I make a lot of movie references. My friends say I’m funny, but that’s really based on preference…and timing.”
“I believe them.”
“Thank you.” You wiped your hands on your attire, out of sight. “So what were your other questions?”
“What do you do for a living?”
You perked up. Glad to have an easy question. “I work at a school.”
His eyebrows rose a fraction.
“I’m essentially in charge of the media center—all the books, book faire, and some tech. It’s not what I planned, but I like it.”
“Do you like to read?”
“Yeah. My reading list keeps growing though. Not that I mind.” You said, noticing how his hair framed his face, a balance of soft and sharp. “What about you?”
Blue eyes flickered away. “Not really. Work takes up a lot of time.” Leon seemed to be drifting away, mind elsewhere.
“What do you do for a living?” You asked softly, just in case.
Tension in his jaw fully took away his smile.
Is this a touchy subject?
Leon’s voice was hushed and somehow almost distant. “I work for the government.”
“Oh.”
Returning his gaze to you, Leon gauged your reaction.
“Sounds like a lot of e-mails.” You tried lightening the mood.
I don’t think he likes his ‘steady job’.
The corner of his lips lifted.
Okay cool. He doesn’t think what I said was stupid. Cool.
“Well, um,” you swallowed and hoped you weren’t being too awkward, “as long as your co-workers treat you like a person and not tech support.”
Multiple emotions ran across Leon’s face, none of which you could read fast enough. What you could discern was how the tension left his muscles. A mystery really, your date.
“I’m not the first one they’d call to help with a computer.”
“Maybe for good company?” You offered.
In midst of leaning closer, Leon’s attention veered over to movement at the far end of the dining room.
Walking into the room with a pan in one hand and a tray under her other arm, your server returned with another employee. Steam rose from the pizza more clear as she reached the booth.
“Here we are.” She announced happily.
Before either you or Leon could offer help, the young woman set up the tray beside the table in a swift motion.
“Be careful. It’s hot.” She set the pizza pan on the tray.
The other employee placed a pair of plates on the table along with a pizza server and a pile of napkins.
A couple of ‘thank you’s later and you were both left alone with a delicious smelling pizza. Seriously, the two of you were eyeing the pie with hungry intent.
“That smells good.” Leon grabbed the pizza server and reached over to the pizza. “One cheese pizza slice comin’ up.” A playful side shone through easily.
“Thank you,” you said as he plated a slice.
Oh, no. He’s cute, you thought, glad he didn’t see whatever silly grin was plastered on your face.
Out of habit or restaurant routine, you grabbed the shaker of cheese. You took a second to make sure the lid was secure. Then, despite the hot cheese all over the wonderful slice, you shook a generous amount of parmesan on top and a dash more.
You hadn’t lied about favoring cheese.
And apparently you and your date were equally craving a taste of pizza. By bite number two your eyes met for a second.
Trying to hide a smile while chewing was an oddly clumsy human act. Awkward during a date, but humble none the less.
Behind you and out of view, children spoke animatedly entering the dining room. Kid drama and discussing characters. Common conversations held even in school. You had heard plenty from students. Some more entertaining than others.
You took another bite of the pizza.
“(mx). (Y/L/N),” a young voice came from close by.
Quickly swallowing, you glanced over to a familiar face.
“Hi,” the little girl waved, perched backwards in a chair.
You gave a friendly wave with your free hand. A movement watched by the child and her two tables’ worth of family members.
So was the life of working at an elementary school.
The girl pointed and asked, “Is he your friend?” Curious eyes on your date.
Behind the girl, a woman looked at the girl with wide eyes and glanced to you with an apologetic expression. “I’m sorry.” She said. “Lottie, turn around please.”
“I finished the book.”
“That’s great,” you replied earnestly. “I hope you liked it.”
“Kinda.”
“Oh,” you chuckled lightly. “Well, I hope you like your food more.”
Grinning, Lottie, sat properly in her seat. All attention reverting to whatever was just passed her nose; her family included.
“Sorry about that.” You turned to see your date with an amused expression.
“No need. Thought she was going to give you review.”
“Same here.” You reached for your pizza slice again. “I think hers was about cats or kittens. Something.”
“Are there any books you’d recommend to someone who doesn’t read much?”
Now that was a question you liked to hear.
“Are you more into fiction or non-fiction books?”
“Fiction.” He took a sip from his water.
“Hmm.” You were left with more questions of his preferences. “I think I need to know a bit more about you first before I can recommend one just yet.”
“Fair enough. Ask away.” Leon finished off a slice and grabbed himself another.
“Okay. Are you an outdoor person?”
“Some days more than others.”
You took another bite of pizza.
“Some times I just want to stay inside. Don’t have to worry about weather or animals.”
“Are you an animal person? I mean—do you like animals?” You shut yourself up with another bite.
“I do. They just live their lives. Unless some…someone leaves a trap out.” A seriousness made his gaze on the table firm.
“Some people are real jerks.”
“Yeah.” He took a quick bite.
“Morning person or night owl?”
“Night owl. When I don’t have to be up early.”
“Sunrises are pretty, but sleep is really nice.”
“You a night owl?”
“Yup. Forced to wake up super early for work. Then go, go, go. No wonder so many people drink coffee.”
“Do you drink coffee?”
“I prefer not to make it a necessity to staying awake. I see people drinking it throughout the day. I can’t imagine doing that. There’s other ways to get energy.”
“Food.”
“Exactly.”
“Want another slice?” Leon asked, pizza server in hand.
“Sure, thank you.”
“Can’t let someone as hard-working and cute as you go hungry.”
He plated the slice onto your plate as you felt heat start at your neck.
“Thank you.” Your voice almost hushed in sound.
Small smile on his lips, Leon handed you the shaker full of cheese. The tips of his fingers brushed yours before retreating to his pizza.
Crap. What were we talking about? You swallowed and added more cheese to your new pizza slice.
“So, uh… How would you describe yourself?”
Leon thought on it for a moment or two, eating pizza. Dark eyebrows pinching together as he considered an answer.
Honestly, you deeply needed to know what Leon was like. To know if he was friend material and more.
Shifting in his seat, Leon answered, “Loyal to ones I care about. A little too hard-working.”
“Dedicated?”
“Yeah.” He ripped off a piece of the pizza crust. “Helpful, protective… This is a hard question.”
“It is.”
“I try to be optimistic.” He added.
“That’s good. Some times it’s really hard. Even on what’s suppose to be a good day. It’s a part of life. Some days suck and others surprise you in a good way.”
A silent exchange of understanding passed between the pair of you, deep and dense.
Slices of pizza slowly disappeared from the pan as the date continued more strongly. Less awkward and more fun. Bouncing questions back and forth while being a little too honest with answers. Laughter really was contagious.
Time passed well into the lunch rush and the two of you remained in the booth. Sharing and reminiscing taste in music and movies continued longer than some people’s stay in the dining room.
A conversation of one specific movie had you two in a passionate exchange of words. Both leaning close and speaking animatedly.
“And people probably think we’re only looking at the decorations to call it a Christmas movie.”
“They’re not use to action in Christmas movies,” Leon added.
“Only the family drama.”
“Yeah.”
“But that’s a part of why it’s a Christmas movie. They’re apart in the beginning, they work through their problems, and—bam—they’re together in the end with better understandings of each other.”
“And it ends with Christmas music. It’s great.”
“She also punched the reporter guy.”
“He had it coming.”
“Kind of satisfying. Not gonna lie.”
Leon chuckled.
“Okay,” you spoke up. “Random question.”
He nodded.
“Can you speak more than one language?”
“Sí.”
“Bueno.” You smirked along with him.
Eyes roaming the sight in front of you, you tried not to be distracted by what of Leon’s muscles you could see defined from his nice shirt. It wasn’t even tight fitting. Plus it was a nice color on him.
Does he have to workout for his job? Or is he the best looking in the building by chance? You thought as you reached for your glass of water, condensation cool against your fingertips.
Until it wasn’t.
“No.”
The glass fumbled from your grasp and the last of the melted ice water spilled onto your thigh.
“Whoa.” Leon already had napkins in his hand as he leaned over the table. “You okay?”
“It’s cold.” You placed the glass down on the table firmly.
“I bet.” He replied sincerely.
Gratefully, you took the napkins and pressed them onto your leg as well as the seat to absorb as much moisture as possible. They worked as well as thin paper could. Fabric was just too absorbent.
“It’s mostly the side of my thigh. So it’s not too bad.”
“Glad you didn’t get a refill, huh?”
You looked up at him. “Definitely.”
Behind his blue eyes, a flash of disappointment emerged and he said, “You probably want to get going and be dry.” It almost sounded like a question.
“Probably.” Your words didn’t sound too convincing.
A small raise of his hand and Leon signaled over your server. “Hey, can we have two boxes to-go?”
“Sure.”
If you hadn’t been watching you would had missed him handing her the slim black bill folder. He must had slipped a card or cash in there when you weren’t paying attention. Leon was quick, you could give him that.
After the server walked away, you rose an eyebrow at him.
“What? Did you want the pepperoni too?”
“No…”
Shuffling in his seat slightly, he asked, “Do you mind that I paid?”
“More so that you didn’t say anything. I don’t want you thinking it’s what I expect or something. Does that make sense?”
“Yeah. And it’s well noted for next time.”
“Next time?” You perked up. “Are you…wanting a second date?”
“I am.” Leon smiled confidently, hiding most of his nerves.
Your heart beat picked up in your chest.
He likes me? You thought in glee.
“Here we go.” The young woman returned with two descent sized containers. “Is there anything else I can help you two with?” She slid Leon a receipt folded around a card.
“No. I think we’re good.”
“Thank you.” He pocketed his wallet.
“No problem. Have a good day.”
“You too.” You replied to her retreating form.
The pair of you packaged the remaining slices into the containers. Each of you taking one.
Leon grabbed his jacket off of the booth. “Ready?”
“Yeah.” You scooted out from the seat, suddenly more aware of the large wet patch on your thigh.
“Here.” Leon whispered from close behind you. He handed you his jacket. “Hold that there and no one will notice”
“Thank you.”
Grateful and a little flustered, you led the way out of the dining room with your date’s jacket draped over your arm. A shield in hiding your water accident. And that was not even a start of mentioning the man walking behind you. He wasn’t in your space, keeping a respectful distance. Yet you could sense his proximity.
Was it too much for you to consider him even an ounce protective? You weren’t sure.
Two steps away from the exit, Leon deftly slid by you to open the door and hold it for you.
“Thank you.” You stepped out onto the sidewalk and out of the way of the door.
How long were we in there? You wondered at the sight of a full parking lot.
Leon came up beside you. “Time flies when you’re having fun.”
“True. Cheesy, but true.” You smiled and handed him back his jacket.
“From what I’ve seen, you like extra cheese.”
“Yeah, okay.” You walked further down the sidewalk.
Chuckling happily, Leon went alongside you.
Why did it feel like the date was too short for you?
There were so many more things you wanted to say.
“If it wasn’t for me being a klutz, I’d treat you to either the soft serve ice cream or the place with gelato in town.”
“A gelato and more time with you. That is a treat.” Leon flirted openly.
“So…about a second date.”
Stopping at the edge of the sidewalk, you looked to him with a flutter in your stomach. Luckily, you still had a good grip on your pizza box.
“You’re cute, you know that?”
You ducked your head as a smile immediately appeared.
“Can I have your number so I can call you some time?”
“Only if I can have yours.” You pulled out your cell phone.
“Twist my arm,” he teased sarcastically.
After he fished his phone from his pocket, you both exchanged numbers. Immediately double checking afterwards.
“And I’m not weird with how long or how soon to contact the other person,” you stated. “That’s too complicated for me to keep up with.”
Stepping into the parking lot, you headed towards your vehicle with Leon, not far from the building.
“Good to know.”
“And I really had a good time. So thank you.”
The features of his face softened. A twinkle in his eyes revealing his genuine relief and hope. Your words meant something to him.
“Thank you.” He shifted the jacket in his hold. “I wasn’t sure about any of this…until you showed up. I’m glad I came.” Shoulders raising, he made eye contact with you again. “I’d really like to see you again.”
Yes. Yes, yes, yes.
“You can call me later. That way I can check my work-school calendar.”
“Sounds like a plan. I’ll call you later.” He glanced at your vehicle. “Drive safe, (Y/N).”
“You too.”
He took a step back.
“And Leon?”
He paused, attentive.
“I’m really glad I came too.”
Fully grinning, Leon made his way to his own vehicle. Peeking over to you as he did so.
Why’d I have to be a klutz today?
Even if you had to shorten your time with your date, you were more than happy with how everything turned out. You couldn’t wait to see Leon again. Then, perhaps, you could recommend him a book too.

FFXIVWRITE DAY 7: Morsel
Food-themed prompts for today. But really with Morsel, you shouldn't be -too- surprised. Spoilers for food items from ARR to DT as well. Bon Appetit, readers!
Mosaic had remained a mainstay of the community in Everkeep for a long, long time. It had remained that was when the surrounding area had merged with the Source, Zoraal Ja’s rule and after Queen Sphene’s death. When meetings between the new leadership run by Oblivion (and little Gulool Ja) and those in Tural, it became customary to eat at Mosaic before.
However, an interesting topic had been brewing for the last few meetings and linkpearl calls. For when it came to the crossroads between culture and food, the Culinarian of Light was there to help. It was well and good for the Alexandrians to look at a map of the Source. But with her help ,they could learn more through the various tastes of the Star. Even for a Bard like her, words on paper only went so far.
So before the meeting, multiple tables had been dragged together by Mosaic’s staff, nestled next to some of the comfiest cushioned sofas. The resident Alexandrians had brought some of their tins of meals for those who hadn’t tried it, but the recovered recipe of ‘popped corn’ had also been laid out for many to enjoy. The Turali of the meeting had brought tacos and other bounty from both Yok and Xak Tural, including the ever-important meal from the Feat of Repast. The food from the rest of The Source? A group effort, led by Chantelle herself.
“And here we go!”, she said, as she put down the first of many package containing food. “I outsourced what I got, for the most part. Even I couldn’t cook everything on my list. I did however, make the mushroom pasta, it’s a favourite from where I’m from, The Black Shroud. I also brought Sohm Al tarts from Ishgard, jhammel jerky from Gyr Abania, and some gyoza dumplings from Doma. As well, as some pizza slices from a recipe from Garlemald and some curry and mango lassi from Radz-at-Han!” The rest not found in Chantelle’s packages were taken out by Alisaie and Erenville, who had been deputized as her assistants for this venture.
She smirked at the tables of food laid out before the small crowd. Wuk Lamat looked very excited, but even young Gulool Ja was in awe at the different types of food laid out. Koana, there also to talk about logistics was looking suitably impressed as well. The Alexandrians were trying to figure out which to choose first, while the Scions present had started taking what they were most interested in.
Chantelle’s first choice was dessert over dinner, taking a Sohm Al tart in hand. Ishgard and Dravania, first in her heart, always. “It’s not food from every corner of Etheirys, but many. Maybe next meeting we can try food from other places as well.” She turned towards the likes of Shale and Nostalgia, “That is, if you can dig up more Alexandrian recipes.”

Many Roads Diverge in the Woods - Part Two
A JSE Interactive Fanfic
Previous
The results are in.
Tumblr media
Your path has been decided. Strange how such a small choice can change so much. Can't wait to see how you guys handle the situations that are coming :)c
The poll at the bottom to decide what happens next is only open for one day, expiring on October 5th at 12:00pm PST. Part Three will be up on October 7th at the same time.
<><><><><><><><><><><>
“Thanks Jackie, but I think the food situation is a bit more important,” Chase says.
Jackie sighs. “Yeah, you’re probably right. But hey, you can always join later.” He turns and heads down the hall, leaving Schneep and Chase there.
“Ah, thank you, Chase,” Schneep says awkwardly.
“Hey, it’s no big deal. You’re right, if we don’t have food that’s kind of a bummer.” Chase leaves the bedroom, closing the door behind him. “Besides, if we don’t have anything, I’ll have to drive over to the town to get groceries. You guys should really pass your driver’s tests, you know.”
Schneep shrugs. “There has never been a need for it until now.”
The two of them head downstairs. Jackie has convinced Marvin and JJ to help him with the PS5, so they’re all currently crowded around the TV. “Hey guys.” Chase waves at them as he and Schneep walk past. “How’s it going?”
“Hey Chase,” Jackie says. “We’re teaching JJ how to set up a console.”
“It’s not that difficult,” Marvin adds, nudging JJ teasingly.
JJ rolls his eyes. Alright, alright, I get the picture.
Chase laughs as he and Schneep head into the kitchen/dining room combo. The rustic look continues here, though Chase can’t help but notice the countertops are made of fancy-looking green marble. Those must have cost a fortune. In fact, this whole place probably cost a lot. How did Jack’s family have access to this? They weren’t that well-off.
Schneep opens the refrigerator. “Ah, good, Jack was right. There is food.” He lets out a little breath of relief.
“This was really worrying you, huh?” Chase says, opening the cabinets. Each one was full of dried foods.
“I would like everything to go as expected.” Schneep closes the fridge and opens the attached freezer. It is also full. “You know that.
“Yeah, you get a little, uh... anxious.” Chase gives him a small smile, hoping to reassure him. “Everything needs to be in control. I’m actually surprised you left the house keys by the door.”
“I did?” Schneep pats his pockets. “Oh, I-I forgot about that. You are right, I should probably hold onto those. I would hate to lose Jack’s keys.” He leaves the kitchen to go grab them.
Chase walks over to the archway connecting the area to the living room. Jackie and Marvin are now arguing about what to play while JJ fiddles with the controller. “Hey guys,” Chase calls. “We’re good on food. What d’you guys want to have for dinner?”
“You already know my list of foods I like,” Marvin says, shrugging.
I’m fine with whatever you want to make, JJ adds. It sounds like we may have limited options.
“We don’t want to make a mess,” Jackie points out. “Is there anything that’s easy to clean?”
“Uhh let’s check.” Chase turns around and looks through the kitchen again.
Schneep joins him. “I saw frozen pizzas in here,” he says, opening the freezer. “Yes, five of them.”
“Aw sweet, one for each of us,” Chase says. “Hmm, but would that be too messy?”
“Not unless our friends eat like your daughter,” Schneep jokes.
“Hey!... Well, that’s true.” Chase laughs. “Pizza it is, then. I don’t think five could fit in the oven at once, though. We won’t need all five, will we?”
Schneep shuffles through the freezer. “Oh! I think each one is our favorite, actually. Look, this one has olives for me, there is Jackie’s pineapple—ugh—and Marvin’s plain cheese. Jack must have really planned this out.”
“Huh. Okay, then, I guess everyone will have their own. Who’s the least hungry and ready to wait?”
Before Chase can go into the living room to ask the others, the lights in the kitchen all turn off at once, leaving only the light of the setting sun to illuminate the area. He hears Jackie and Marvin cry out in dismay, and he and Schneep return to the living room. “Of all the times!” Jackie complains.
“The power went out?” Chase says. “That’s weird.”
Perhaps it has been a while since the house was used and the fuse box is old? JJ suggests.
“I can go check,” Schneep suggests. “Jack said that the power was in the basement.” He walks over to the basement door, taking the house keys out of his pocket as he does so. After a couple tries, he finds the one to unlock the basement door, which then swings open. “Alright.” He turns to look back at everyone else. “I will be right back.”
“Hey, I can go with you, if you want,” Jackie offers.
Schneep laughs. “It is just a basement. I’m sure the worst that will happen is spiderwebs.” And before the others can say anything else, he heads on down. “I will text you if something is strange,” he calls, his voice getting farther and farther, echoing up the staircase.
Jackie frowns. “I don’t like that basement,” he mutters. “Strange that it was locked.”
This is more of a vacation home than a real home, JJ says. Of course they would lock everything up when they’re not using it.
“The bedrooms and bathrooms weren’t locked, though.”
“That’s cause the bedrooms and bathrooms only lock from inside,” Marvin says. “If they locked them, they’d have to leave through the windows, and I don’t think the ones in the bathroom open up.”
Jackie sighs. “Yeah, you guys are right. I’m probably just being weird cause it’s October and I’m thinking about horror movies.”
“I mean, if you’re really that worried about Schneep, you can follow him even if he said it would be fine,” Chase points out. “No one’s stopping you.”
“I could,” Jackie considers. He thinks about it.

Fanfic Writers: Director’s Cut
Blessings upon ye, Lolly!! I shall talk about “That’s My Mom!”
So, this fic actually began as a tiny divergence! It started with Junior seeing his mom’s photos and then interrupting the conversation shortly thereafter, halting the pizza stacking challenge. I decided after a while that I wanted it to fit in canon properly and changed CJ’s interruption to after Raph beats Leo’s record. I also plan to make this fit with the Casey (Sr) lore I’m writing, so you’ll eventually be able to read her perspective of this scene with the added bonus of context for how she’s developed since the show, huhuhu!!
So, there’s a bunch of scenes/lines I wanna talk about:
- The Incident mentioned near the beginning is the same one from the last flashback where Casey teleports F!Leo and Jr away. Junior suffered both physical and mental trauma from it, which repressed most of his memories of his mom. I hope I made that clear in the fic, lol!
- “Do you know how many ‘Casey Jones’ are in the Manhattan area alone?? Too many! I counted- TWICE!” << And Casey Sr has challenged just about all of them (and won) to establish dominance #FACTS
- “What are you talking about, I calculated the perfect am- OWW!!” Donnie rubs at the arm Mikey just elbowed. << Proud of this one, hehe!! I was actually a little nervous writing this fic cuz of how easy I know it is to mischaracterize the Rise turtles, but I think I did a pretty good job! *pats self on back*
- Casey is, at this point, halfway through befriending the Hamato Clan. She already had Splinter’s vote of confidence by the end of the show. And of Course she’s Besties with Raph! (I’ll get into the hows and whens and whys in my lore fic probably). Mikey wormed his way into her heart like the little gremlin he is. And she’s on full given name basis with Leo and Don (ie calling them Leonardo and Donatello) and on Last Name basis with April (due to a wombo combo of social awkwardness, presumed rivalry, and currently misunderstood romantic feelings). It’ll get better! …Eventually!!
- Okay, whatever he thought before was a big fat fucking Lie. He Can’t Actually Handle This. << Contradictory Transitions are Hilarious so of course I had to put one in
- It makes sense now, why the older members of the Resistance spoke of the past with such fondness. There’s hope in abundance here, in the idle chatter and the eyes lacking decades of trauma. He’s glad to have helped save this. << Casey only just beginning to understand the dissonance and gravity of being the sole survivor of a doomed timeline
- a scent of ozone fills the air and lightning forms and crackles around a glowing pink portal lined with the petals of the Hamato clan symbol. << Casey was already experienced with portal magic, so once she eventually (I’ll get into it in the lore fic) unlocked her Ninpo, I don’t see why she Wouldn’t utilize it to power the abilities she learned in the Foot
- “The Kraang, yes, I know.” << Girl knows the bylaws of the Foot Clan by Heart. Why Wouldn’t she know about the Kraang? Woulda been majorly helpful during the movie me thinks *looks directly at the camera*
- “All your talk about Family this, Togetherness that,” Casey spits. Then, the anger just- vanishes , and Junior watches his mother curl in on herself, arms crossed and head dipping below her shoulders. He’s too far to hear what she says next, but the Hamatos near her certainly do, sharing wide-eyed sorrowful looks. << lore fic will eventually reveal what she said, but ah y’know *points at Casey* we got a former cult member feeling unsteady on her feet and insecure about her place with this close knit family! *strokes chin* Similar to Junior’s own insecurities, hmm?
- He’s 7 and his mom gives him a Choice << Exact same age as Casey when she started training for the Foot. Casey maybe felt she didn’t Have a Choice, so she sure as hell made sure her son got one
- “Tell me something I would only ever entrust to my child.” << Again, Lore Fic will reveal All
- She hugs him, gathers him into her arms and presses him against her. And despite having been given comfortable clothes and modern amenities and food and the peace of mind that the Kraang will not ruin this timeline, Casey finally Finally feels safe. << 🥹🥹 made myself cry writing this one. L'oca
Went to Sherwood Park to visit L'oca- finally.
Tumblr media
I know it has been open for a while but I just don't have a reason to visit. .. my bro got a giftcard for this place so we went to check it out - bcos money is incentive xD
From what I've gathered, this place is like a fancier Italian Centre or Sunterra-like place, having groceries, pantry items, as well as a dine-in cafe/eating area. I already find the Italian Centre/Sunterra sort of pricey so .. let's see what this place has!
Tumblr media
Their in-store bakery.
Tumblr media
Smelled really good! haha prices were steep o_O
Oh, I should mention .. long story short, the physical space was huge! I think it was well organized as well, where I neither felt crowded nor thought things were very sparse & spaced out. The location of the aisles/sections made sense- for instance, when you enter, it's the cafe area & bakery; when you walk in more, it's the fruits/smoothie bar & fresh produce. To the left, it was the pantry stuff & in the back was the deli & butcher.
Tumblr media
Their fresh pasta booth.
Some of the decor & general atmosphere reminded me of a market market - like.. . Granville Island sort of?
Tumblr media
The butcher section. This section was surprisingly the most crowded. There was also a mini line up too.
Tumblr media
So this place has a steakhouse restaurant, a cafe, as well as this things here, which is kinda like a quicker dining place. They have things like salads, paninis, pizzas & some appetizers.
Tumblr media
Alas, the cafe <3
Tumblr media
Resisted on the coffee beans haha
Tumblr media
Their many flavours, some are staples & some are rotating.
Tumblr media
Of course, the espresso bean :P very good!!
Tumblr media
Mango sorbet - it was alright.
Tumblr media
The dark cherry vanilla - this was alright as well.
Tumblr media
Iced Americano wasn't good :( their bean choice was too acidic for me.
Tumblr media
So we wandered the aisles, & realized they didn't have much .. hmm how should I phrase this? "Special" items? A lot of their stuff exist in other grocery stores so there's really no need for us to buy things here. Price tags were marked up compared to other places -.-" this, though, is something new for me!! This little bottle unfiltered yuzu ponzu for $70 ?! o_O I don't know too much about yuzu products. I know they're expensive here but . .. this seems too crazy. Correct me if I'm wrong!!
How was the general experience / would I visit again?
General experience was good- I was disappointed by their coffee aisle, or rather, lack of. Teas occupied a lot of aisle space. Same with chocolates & vinegars, of all things. But their coffee beans (in the main store, not the cafe counter) were scattered around, existing at aisle ends & some next to the teas.. like they weren't in one place, & the inventory was lacking.
I wouldn't visit again due to lack of original items for the most part, but also it's far & unnecessary.

What are the Best Places of Accommodation for Students in the UK?
Finding Your Home Away from Home: The Best Student Accommodation in the UK
As I stepped off the train at King's Cross Station, laden with suitcases and a mix of excitement and trepidation, I couldn't help but wonder where I'd be calling home for the next few years. Like thousands of students flocking to the UK each year, finding the right accommodation was at the top of my to-do list.
Tumblr media
After extensive research and personal experience, I'm here to share insights on the best places for students to live in the UK, including a range of options to suit various preferences and budgets.
University Halls: The Classic Choice
My first year was spent in university halls, a rite of passage for many UK students. According to a 2023 survey by UCAS, approximately 55% of first-year students opt for this type of accommodation. It's easy to see why – halls offer a built-in social network and are often conveniently located near campus.
Personal Anecdote: I'll never forget the night our entire floor decided to have an impromptu pizza party in the common room. It was during exam season, and we all needed a break. That night of laughter and shared stress relief formed friendships that have lasted well beyond university.
Pros:
Easy transition to university life
All-inclusive bills
On-site support staff
Cons:
Can be noisy
Limited privacy
Might be more expensive than private rentals
Private Student Accommodation: A Step-Up
As I moved into my second year, I discovered the world of private student accommodation. Companies like Uninist offer a more independent living experience while still catering specifically to students. These purpose-built accommodations have been on the rise, with a 2.6% increase in bed spaces from 2019 to 2020, according to the British Property Federation.
Uninist, for example, provides modern facilities in prime locations across major UK cities. Their properties often include amenities like on-site gyms, study areas, and social spaces, creating a community feel similar to halls but with more privacy and independence.
Personal Anecdote: My Uninist flat came with a small balcony overlooking the city. It became my favorite spot for morning coffee and late-night study sessions. The view of the twinkling city lights often provided a much-needed perspective during stressful periods.
Pros:
Modern facilities
Balanced social and private life
Often in central locations
Cons:
Can be pricier than other options
Might feel less integrated with university life
House Shares: The True Adult Experience
In my final year, I opted for a house share with friends. This is a popular choice for many UK students, with the National Union of Students reporting that 29% of students live in shared houses or flats.
Personal Anecdote: Our house had a tiny garden, which we transformed into our little oasis. We held barbecues in the summer and even attempted to grow our vegetables (with limited success, I might add). It was in this house that I truly learned the art of compromise and the importance of a good cleaning rota!
Pros:
Often more affordable
Greater independence
Choice of housemates
Cons:
Potential for conflicts with housemates
Responsibility for bills and maintenance
Might be further from the campus
Homestays: Immersion in British Culture
For international students looking for a more culturally immersive experience, homestays are an excellent option. According to the UK Council for International Student Affairs, about 3% of international students choose this accommodation type.
Personal Anecdote: While I didn't personally experience a homestay, my friend Maria from Spain did. She came to our pizza nights with tales of Sunday roasts and British TV shows. Her English improved rapidly, and she gained invaluable insights into British culture that we missed out on in our student bubbles.
Pros:
Cultural immersion
Potential for language improvement
Home-cooked meals often included
Cons:
Less independence
Potential for cultural misunderstandings
Limited social interaction with other students
Making Your Choice
When deciding on accommodation, consider these factors:
Budget: The average weekly rent for purpose-built student accommodation in 2021 was £145, according to Cushman & Wakefield. University halls and house shares can often be cheaper alternatives.
Location: A study by Save the Student found that 55% of students spend less than £20 per week on transport. Living closer to campus can significantly cut costs.
Social life: Your living situation greatly influences your social experiences. Choose an option that aligns with your social preferences.
Study environment: Consider whether you need quiet study spaces or prefer a livelier atmosphere.
Length of stay: Some accommodations offer more flexible contracts than others.
Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all solution. What works for one student might not work for another. My journey through different types of accommodation taught me valuable life lessons and contributed significantly to my overall university experience.
As you embark on your accommodation adventure, keep an open mind. Whether you end up in a bustling university hall, a modern Uninist flat, a chaotic house share, or a welcoming British home, each option offers unique experiences that will shape your time in the UK.
Your accommodation is more than just a place to sleep – it's where you'll make memories, form lifelong friendships, and grow into the person you're meant to be. Choose wisely, but remember, wherever you end up, it's the people and experiences that truly make a place feel like home.

Teen Program Plan
Program Description, Audience, and Justification
The library closes at 5pm on Fridays, so the librarians will set up the clues between 5 and 6pm. The program will begin at 6pm with dinner from Rosati's pizza from 6-6:30pm. The scavenger hunt itself will consist of 30 clues hidden around the library, and the teens will be split into teams of four. The teens can sign up in groups or they can sign up as individuals and be grouped together at the program. The scavenger hunt will last about an hour to an hour and a half depending on how fast the teens are, but we will probably have librarians not involved with the program test the clues beforehand to see how long it takes them. There will be two librarians stationed at different "lookout" points at the library to watch for cheaters and offer hints if need be.
This program is relevant to the teens in my area because there aren't many (if any) places in Lemont for teens to hang out and be loud. Last year, the local Starbucks completely renovated its interior to discourage teens from hanging out there, so the only place left is really McDonalds (which is down the street from the library). I want to give the teens an organized activity during the summer where they can be rowdy (to an extent).
Budget and Additional Resources
This, if all goes according to plan, would cost approximately less than $100. All of the clues will be printed out on colored paper (a different color for each team), and the library is always well-stocked with colored paper for various things. For something like a later program, we usually have the librarian running start later in the day so that they still work their regular 8 hour shift. Hypothetically, this ends at most at 8pm, so the librarian would start at noon the day of the program. For dinner, the Lemont Library gets Rosati's pizza at a discounted rate since we have a partnership with them, so 4 large pizzas would cost us around $50 (and that's if we have all 24 slots fill up). Finally, the prize is a $10 gift card to a local business of the teen's choice, so four gift cards would equal $40.
Timeline
The summer newsletter goes out in May, so I would begin promoting this program around that time to try to ensure its success. I would for sure advertise it to the families of teens that come to the Summer Reading Kickoff Party (which happens the first Saturday in June ever year). I would write the clues a few weeks in advance, and then do a test run or two with a couple librarians on a Sunday when it's not as busy. The timeline for the event itself is above in Program Description.
Other Considerations
I have also considered getting ice cream from The Creamery, another local business, who gives out free ice cream at the Summer Reading Kickoff and Wrap-Up parties, as well as free ice cream coupons as Summer Reading prizes. This ice cream would be free as long as we promote that it's from them in the program description (pizza from Rosati's would also be in the program description).
Assessment/Evaluation Technique
To evaluate the success of the program, of course I will look at both the number of signups and the number of teens that actually show up. I think the volume and speed of the teens will be a good indicator of the success of the program, because if they're getting excited and running around, they are, in theory, having fun.
Supplemental Materials
The first supplemental material I have is a mockup Instagram post.
Tumblr media
The caption would be something like "Teens! Sign up for our after-hours scavenger hunt on July 12! Solve all the clues first and win a $10 gift card to a local business of your choice!"
My second supplemental material is an example of what some of the clues will be.
Clue #1:
In a castle tall, with secrets deep,
Where a boy with a scar, his destiny to keep.
Amongst the houses of bravery and wits,
Find the next clue where magic flits
Clue #2:
Through the streets of Baker, where stories unfold,
Find the abode of a detective, shrewd and bold.
Amongst the cases stacked and mysteries untold,
Find the next clue where adventure's gold
Clue #3:
In a world of whimsy and rhymes so sweet,
Where a cat wears a hat and things are neat.
Amongst truffula trees and creatures so small,
Find the next clue where the Lorax does call

Saucy Brew Works, Sandusky OH
17 June 2023
I stopped at the Saucy Brew Works in Cleveland a couple of years ago. Sandusky seemed like a good stopping place this year and since I'd been to Small City Taphouse on my last visit, I decided to try the new Saucy Brew Works here. (Spoiler: I'll definitely do Small City if I come this way again.)
Although you can't see from this photo, Saucy is right near the water of Sandusky Bay on Lake Erie and I imagine they do a huge business in the summer; there's an outside area in addition to a lot more inside space than I show here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since I arrived shortly after 2pm and didn't want to sit outdoors, I figured I'd do the "seat yourself at the bar or a high-top table" option; since a high-top would require ordering at the bar anyway, I sat at the bar. And sat. And waited. And sat. And waited. The bartender -- who turned out to be quite nice even though not quite on top of things -- noticed me right away and said she'd be right with me, but her sense of time and mine must have been quite different.
Eventually, I was able to order a flight (and food ... although she forgot what I ordered and came back about ten minutes later to ask what I'd wanted):
Tumblr media
All of these beers were decent, but they all reminded me of new wine -- somewhat rough around the edges. The descriptions run left-to-right on the top row, then the same for the bottom row.
Separate Czechs (4.1% Czech Pilsner) - This was very acceptable, quite pleasant, and good on a hot day.
Up the Hill (4.9% Munich Helles lager) - I actually liked this the best of the six and ordered a pint of it later (which was an odd experience in itself ... but more on that after a bit).
Swing Juice 2023 (4.9% Kölsch) - I love a good Kölsch, and while this was tasty, it wasn't what I was expecting from this style. I briefly considered doing this as the pint but thought better of it the more of the flight glass I drank. It just wasn't right for today.
Kado (4.1% Japanese style lager) - This is brewed with toasted rice and Japanese Sorachi Ace hops and I was worried that the rice might be too much, but it wasn't. In the end, this was a very close second to the Helles for a pint.
Juicy Asap ( 6.5% American IPA) - It was a beautiful color -- as were many of these -- and I did like it, but not enough to repeat. They say this is their best-selling IPA and I can see why that is, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for today.
Electric Lettuce (7.5% American IPA) - I love the name, but of the two IPAs, I'd take the first. I can't even quite say why, but this one just didn't make the cut in some way. Perhaps it was the wild mix of fruit flavors?
Tumblr media
Even though I'd planned to get something else, I ended up ordering the exact same meal I'd had at their Cleveland location, the pepperoni pizza, and it was even better here. That crust is thin and crispy, just the way I like it, and I love that it's the perfect size for a meal. No bloated feeling after!
Finally, there was the pint of Helles:
Tumblr media
I don't know, maybe she thought I wanted it to go? Is that even a thing here? At any rate, I took the sippy cup lid off and drank it straight out of the plastic "glass."
So, having tried Saucy Works in two different locations ... they're not a bad choice, but far from what I've come to expect on these drives. I'll give them a miss in the future unless I'm out of choices.

Food in Italy !!
Now this is a long awaited, very exciting blog post because who doesn't love food! I just wanted to share some of my favorite foods I have tried and learned about in Italy, so you can try them one day if you are ever around.
First of all, pasta. This is an obvious one to talk about and for good reason. The Italians are very serious about their pasta dishes, and you can always find pasta at pretty much any restaurant. Some of my favorites that I have tried so far are cacio e pepe, gnocchi, bolognese, truffle sauce pasta, and carbonara. Carbonara is an important one to point out because it is famous in Rome. I also think the best carbonara you will find is in Rome versus other areas of Italy. It is a pasta with a lighter sauce and bacon bits. SO delicious. Some places in Italy even hand roll the pasta that they use in your dish right in front of you.
Tumblr media
The next most obvious and important food in Italy is pizza! Italian pizza is so good and I have had my fair share of it all semester long. Something I like about the pizza here is they are all usually served personal size. So no large pizza from Dominos to split with the family, but more choose your own and eat the whole thing off your plate. Pizza here I would say generally has a thinner crust, but it really depends on the place you go. My favorite types of pizza are buffalo mozzarella which is like Margherita with the chunks of cheese and basil or the spicy salami which would be most similar to pepperoni. My favorite pizza I have had is actually from the place my program took us our first night in Rome. Popi Popi is in Trastevere where many good restaurants in Rome are and it never disappoints me.
Tumblr media
Next up are paninos or sandwiches. You can find great sandwiches amazing prices all over Italy. It is a very popular item to get at a cafe or from a snack place with pre made choices. Italians make excellent bread and have yummy meats so you can't really go wrong. I usually like ones with mozzarella and prosciutto or salami and arugula. My favorite sandwich ever though is from All'Antico Vinaio. This is a famous sandwich shop that originated in Florence, but they have a Rome location as well (and the line is shorter here). These sandwiches are huge and have delicious focaccia like bread. My new favorite from there is the truffle salami with mozzarella and arugula and honey drizzled on top.
Tumblr media
The boys have a whole bite of sandwich in their mouths because they couldn't stop eating it was too good.
Now some of the most exciting food items in Italy to me are the appetizers and desserts. I'll start with appetizers because that's the chronological order when eating. If you travel to Italy you must try a suppli!! This is easily my favorite food I have had all semester and I eat them way too much. They are a fried ball that has rice with red sauce and cheese in the middle. Had one my first night and eat them whenever I can now. My other favorite appetizer would have to be bruschetta. This is the slices of toasted bread usually with tomatoes and olive oil and seasons on top. You can also order different types sometimes though like eggplants topped ones. If you want to sounds like you know Italian when ordering this, the pronunciation is bru-sket-ta in Italian. And last but certainly not least is desserts. Italy has tons of specialty desserts like cannolis, tiramisu, and of course gelato. I can hardly ever turn down a good cone of gelato when I have the chance. There is even a place in the city center that has 150 flavors of gelato! There is also a place with 100 flavors of tiramisu. It is very exciting and the Italian sweet treats never disappoint.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am excited to eat all of my favorite foods and try some new ones during my last two weeks abroad. It has all been so delicious, and I can't recommend it all enough! I hope this made your mouth water and your stomach grumble.

FALL CSA WEEK 6
P I C K L I S T
LEEKS - RUTABAGA - CELERIAC - WATERMELON RADISH - RED KURI WINTER SQUASH - BROCCOLI - FENNEL - SPICY SALAD GREENS (ARUGULA & MIZUNA) - TINY RUSSET STORAGE POTATOES BREAD: FROZEN PIZZA DOUGH
It’s a real who’s who of root veg this week- so I won't bore you all with the weather and how it totally dominates our everyday life (as per usual) at Edgewater.  But most importantly, let it be known that our field crew drops from 8 to four farmers this coming Saturday when Roy, Garnet, Strong, and Jasper head back home to Jamaica.  Can’t get too emotional over their leaving just yet, we have a ton to accomplish before that day- and like most professional farmers do, we will continue to bury our feelings in farm chores: cleaning squash &  bagging potatoes.  But goodness gracious,  they will be missed- and every day until they leave, we will celebrate field crew love via baked goods fresh from the farmstand kitchen. Today it’s carrot ginger muffins. Tomorrow it’s ginger cookies. Thursday, it’s donuts from Jumbo Honey Bun Bakes.  Who knows what Friday will bring- But Saturday, there will be hugs and tears.
Pro-tips:
Storage heads up: Friends! Are you experiencing refrigerator overwhelm with all this veg?!? Here is a little heads up, if it is a root or an allium or a squash, and you are not eating it tonite, leave it out… maybe even make yourself a cutesy little counter top cornucopia of CSA goods… OR, if you do not anticipate meal making in the next little bit with said allium, root, or squash, do keep in a cold area of your home- but not freezing! MUDROOMS AND GARAGE SPACES are great places to hold veg.  Ray can attest to this, as he often comments on my vegetable hoarding skills as he steps over eurocrates and bushels of beets and onions and squash to enter our house.  You too, can start hoarding your veggies today with your fancy ½ bushel box of baby russet potatoes.  It will keep for a long time if stored correctly- think cool and dry.
Rutabaga… Because it would not be a proper Fall CSA without a rutabaga.
Let it be known that the rutabaga is by far the least sexy veg.  However there is a case to be made for the rutabaga.  Like turnips, they roast beautifully when chopped, and taste great as a mash.  And people swear by them when paired with pork.  Nigel Slater has tons of great recipes to explore around this root. I highly recommend a google sesh searching “nigel slater” and “swede*” for your rutabaga recipe.
*swede is another name for rutabaga
WATERMELON RADISH: What appears to be your everyday root veg on the outside, is actually a ruby diamond on the inside.  Slice in half to be wowed, then proceed to eat.  Great roasted (like you would a beet), shaved thin in salad or crudite’ it up into spears with dip of choice.
CELERIAC (aka celery root): For those that are experiencing this veg for the first time, again prepare to be wowed.  There are sooo many recipes on google for what to do with this alien looking rooty cutie- but the bottomline here, it is a less starchy potato with a hint of celery.  Roast in cubes with salt and pep,  boil to mash, or follow the next recipe below…
Garden keeper's pie is a cozy vegan main course with beets, lentils, herbs, and a creasy celery root topping. Perfect for a holiday meal.
PREP TIME:45 MINS/ COOK TIME:1 HR 35 MINS/ TOTAL TIME:2 HRS 20 MINS/ SERVINGS 4
 FILLING:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cooking onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 sprig of rosemary, leaves minced
4 sprigs of thyme, leaves removed and divided
pinch of chili flakes, optional
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
5 cups-worth of small diced root or tuber vegetables or squash (I used a mix of butternut squash, carrots & beets)
⅓ cup black or french lentils, rinsed
2 ½ cups vegetable stock
1 teaspoon tamari soy sauce
sea salt, to taste
ground black pepper, to taste
2 teaspoons arrowroot powder
1 tablespoon cold filtered water
 CELERY ROOT MASH:
3 cups peeled and diced celery root
2 cloves of garlic, peeled
1 ½ tablespoons olive oil, plus extra
¼ cup unsweetened non-dairy milk
Notes: These are rough measures, but this isn’t a fussy endeavor by any means. You’re just making one big sauté, thickening it with arrowroot, topping it with a rustic mash and baking it until the whole thing bubbles and browns.
Some cooked beans would fill in nicely for the lentils. Just make sure you throw them in closer to the end of the cooking process.
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Lightly oil 4 ramekins/cocottes/mini gratin dishes with at least 8 oz/1 cup capacity. Place dishes on a sheet pan and set aside.
For the filling, heat the 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until very, very soft, about 5 minutes, stirring often. Add the minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, and chili flakes (if using) to the pot and stir. Sauté until the garlic is very fragrant, about 45 seconds. Add the balsamic vinegar and stir. Add the 5 cups of diced vegetables and the lentils to the pot and stir to coat everything in the oil. Season heartily with salt and pepper. Sauté the vegetables and lentils another two minutes or so, stirring often.
Add the vegetable stock and tamari and stir. The liquid should cover all the vegetables and lentils nicely, by about a half inch. Bring the mixture to a boil and then simmer until the vegetables are tender and the lentils are just soft, about 45 minutes. It helps if you place a lid on top of the pot slightly askew, leaving a little gap for air to escape.
When the filling is done, in a small bowl mix together the arrowroot powder and cold water. Scrape this slurry into the pot with the filling and stir to mix it in. Remove the pot from the heat.
For the celery root mash, place the diced celery root and garlic cloves in a medium saucepan. Cover the vegetables with cold water/vegetable stock if you like, and then place the pot over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil and then simmer until the celery root pieces are tender, about 15 minutes.
Drain the celery root and garlic, and place it in a food processor fitted with the “S” blade. Pulse the vegetables a couple times to get them moving. Add the olive oil, unsweetened almond milk, and some salt and pepper. Run the motor on high until you have a cream, homogenous mixture. Check it for seasoning and adjust if necessary.
Divide the filling amongst the 4 oiled dishes. Then, divide the celery root mash among the tops of the 4 dishes, smoothing it out with a butter knife or spatula. Drizzle a bit of olive oil on top of each pie and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and thyme leaves. Place the assembled pies back on the baking sheet and slide into the oven. Bake the pies until the filling is bubbling and the tops are very lightly browned, about 20 minutes.
From The First Mess (thefirstmess.com)/ SERVES: 2-3 NOTES: This recipe is so versatile: use any steamed/roasted/grilled/raw vegetables you like, noodles of whatever persuasion you prefer. But the sauce! Please keep the sauce :)
soba:
2-3 portions of soba noodles (I like a 1:1, sometimes 1:2, noodle + veg ratio, but make as much as you prefer)
1/2-1 full bunch of broccoli, cut into florets (save the stalks for green juice or maybe some pesto?)
sauce:
1-2 garlic cloves, grated on a rasp
1 inch of fresh ginger, peeled + grated on a rasp
1 tbsp tamari soy sauce
splash of maple syrup/brown rice syrup
1/2 tsp light miso
hot toasted sesame oil to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
pinch of cayenne or chili flakes
juice of 1/2 a lime
4-5 brazil nuts, chopped + divided
Cook the soba noodles according to package directions. This usually takes anywhere from 8-10 minutes once your water's boiling. Drain them and rinse with cold water. While the noodles are cooking, in a small bowl whisk/stir together the grated garlic, ginger, tamari, maple syrup/brown rice syrup, miso, hot toasted sesame oil, olive oil, cayenne, lime juice and chopped brazil nuts. Add a little fresh ground black pepper if you want. Set aside.
Steam the broccoli to a point you find enjoyable. I like mine still sorta raw-ish, so once the water's simmering in the pot, that steamer basket hangs out for about 3-4 minutes.
Divide the noodles and broccoli among bowls, drizzle the sauce on top, sprinkle the tops with some extra chopped brazil nuts if you like and serve.

Good food all around but manger named jimmy wasn't the most friendly and wasn't willing to be a team player to the restaurant. Very scrumptious. Perfect lunch after riding all morning. Ordered a pepperoni pizza and cheese sticks and was very impressed. Some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. I would definitely recommend to any one looking for an amazing pizza place. This place was not a good experience. It looked like something out of a horror movie. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the customer service was good. I walked in to the bar area to meet up with my sister in law and her husband. The bartender completely ignored me That's okay, I operate a bar back home and I have patience and kindness. She was very rude to us the whole time. A few other things happened but it's not worth it Clean place for pizza at snowshoe. Great atmosphere and menu is good. Staff is pleasant and takes good care of customers. This was my first stop during my visit to Snowshoe, it was a quick and easy lunch before hitting the slopes. I had low expectations because its pizza at a resort. Staff was super friendly, welcoming and attentive. We got our pizza is a speedy manner. I was surprised with how great it was. The crust was fluffy and there was a generous amount of toppings. We were so pleased with this first experience we knew at that moment we were going to have to come back before our two day stay was over. We went again for dinner and go the exact same thing. So I can only speak on the Hawaiian pizza. If you're into fruit on pizza you must get the Hawaiian. The pizzas, 3 different, weren't good - terrible crust covered with black soot on the bottom, skimpy flavorless toppings, and overall way below the mark of being even decent. Came on a Saturday night during early ski season. The place was pretty packed but we got seated quickly we were there around pm. Really enjoyed the pizza, it was a little greasy but delicious. Our server was nice and the atmosphere was good. The cocktail menu was on the pricey side. I ordered the draft porter which was nice. Would come back again if we were wanting pizza. Great pizza! Crust is fantastic with lots of toppings Try the salad for two with their delicious feta dressing to start. So good! The toasted ravioli appetizer was really good. The pizza really good and unique choices of toppings. The beer selection on craft needs to be expanded. The wait staff was very attentive and had a good experience. Definitely the best pizza in The mountain!!! This is a avg pizza place. It was a tad greasy and the crust seems to be house made which is probably the best part of the pizza. The Pizza Slice. Glenwood Springs October 20-23 2022
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We planned a 3 night stay in Glenwood Springs at the beginning of mountain bike season.
Tumblr media
The Colorado State Mountain Bike Championships are always held during Fall break and my birthday so we usually plan a family vacation.
Tumblr media
Lloyd found out that he was going to travel to Amsterdam for at the same time as Colorado State Mountain Bike Championships.  I wanted my grandma to take his place and she agreed.
Tumblr media
The Fall colors were changing right at the time that we arrived.  Glenwood Spring's largest developed park (Two Rivers) is located at the confluence of the Colorado and Roaring Fork Rivers.
Tumblr media
Colorado State Mountain Bike Championships were located at Colorado Mountain College.  Colorado Mountain College’s Spring Valley campus is the newest venue to be added to the Colorado high school mountain bike racing calendar.
Tumblr media
The campus’s trails above the Roaring Fork Valley near Glenwood Springs was the site of this year’s state championships from Oct. 20 to 23. The event brought 800 racers plus coaches, families and spectators for an estimated total of 2,000 visitors to the Glenwood Springs area throughout the race weekend.
Tumblr media
Spring Valley recently completed over three miles of professionally built new trails that connect to an existing trail network, which have been hand built over several years by students and community members while exploring the campus environs. Along the way, CMC staff worked closely with the Colorado High School Cycling League to create a 5 ½- mile course, purposely built for high school-age student athletes.
Tumblr media
I stood near the uphill section of the course and watched Connor come up.  That looked steep and hard.  I heard other riders saying that it was the hardest part of the course.
Tumblr media
The coaches told us to have hard tires and soft suspension because it is really rocky and has long downhill sections.  I had no idea how to change the suspension and Connor bent his valve trying to put more air in it the night before so it was a bit stressful.
Tumblr media
They both completed their races and held their own pretty good.  It is a huge accomplishment just to make it to State.
Tumblr media
The town has a vibrant history.  In the late 1800s, dentist-turned-gambler/gunfighter John Henry “Doc” Holliday came to Glenwood Springs seeking a cure for his advanced tuberculosis. Unfortunately, his illness was too far advanced for a cure.
Tumblr media
During the warm-weather months, rafting the Colorado River through scenic Glenwood Canyon, cycling paved and unpaved trails and fishing miles of Gold Medal rivers and streams are top choices for visitors. I ran along the paved trails with Lola in the mornings.
Tumblr media
In the evenings, we would watch Netflix shows together and cuddle with Lola.  The kids were always hungry so we walked to Target to stock our refrigerator with milk, frozen pizzas, cheese, and yogurt.  Carly also talked me into going to the hot tub every day to relax.
Tumblr media
We had a good Chinese Restaurant (Zheng Asian Bistro) and Pizza Place (Russos) next to us so it was easy to get everything we need without having to drive anywhere.  The pizza was spectacular!  It took 35 minutes to make and was totally worth having real gourmet pizza.  Zheng Asian Bistro tasted just like real Chinese food from China.
Tumblr media
Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley had a nice view of Capital Peak.  Capitol Peak is notorious among the Colorado fourteeners for being the most difficult of the fifty-eight peaks to ascend. The challenges on this mountain abound. There's a long, 8.5 mile approach hike requiring backpacking skills. The rock is loose and rotten, making rockfall risk significant.
Tumblr media
Great Grandma Jeanine was a great support for the kids.  We had fun spending time with her and cheering for and watching the mountain bikers.  Since there was such a long walk from the parking, Grandma told the parking guys that she was handicapped and they let me drop her off right next to the race start.
Tumblr media
We went downtown and found some great boba.  "Deja Brew" had so many choices of milk tea.  Camilla got a French toast flavored drink and Lola even got a pup cup.
Tumblr media
The latest craze in the historic Colorado mountain town is public wing art. There are currently nine sets of eye-catching wings tucked away in discrete areas of the downtown core. You will find them in alleyways, on historic buildings, and even in pocket parks.
Tumblr media
The wings idea came from a local business owner who wanted to find a way to move people throughout the downtown shopping district creatively during the recent pandemic.
Tumblr media
Chrissy Lee-Manes of Homsted, a natural lifestyle retail store, said she came up with the wings concept to help revitalize and beautify some of the less visited places in the downtown core.
Tumblr media
“The wings not only give people a fun reason to explore,” she said, “they also offer our visitors a way to take home a piece of their Glenwood Springs experience.”
Tumblr media
I dowloaded the "Wing Map" and found all but 3 of them.
Tumblr media
The kids made fun of me for walking all over trying to find the wings, but I was able to see parts of the city that I would have never seen.
Tumblr media
We even found a set of wings behind a fence in a construction zone.  I almost jumped the fence to take a picture but Camilla would have probably collapsed from embarrassment.
Tumblr media
Connor was just a big goofball for the entire trip.  He teased all of us and ate enough food for the entire family.
Tumblr media
We also did some souvenir shopping but the city was very lacking in souvenir shops.  Most of them were pretty pricey.  One place I really liked was Bullocks.  It is a true western shop at the site of where Doc Holliday died.  They let Lola come in their store and have a treat.  They had nice cowboy hats, belts, boots, and home decor.  It was a lot of fun to walk through.

doctor todd.
jason todd x gender neutral vigilante!reader. 1,875 words. notes: requested by @jason-redhood as part of my hundred followers celebration! this got a lot longer than i intended, oopsies. thanks for requesting- hope you enjoy! warnings: tending wounds, mentions of food.
"y'know, lurking outside somebody's window is a good way to get yourself shot," jason called over his shoulder.
"i'll keep that in mind," you said, voice strained enough to shoot dread into his veins and draw his attention completely away from his work.
he set the gun he had been cleaning on the table and twisted around to find you gingerly sliding through the open window.
"hey," you mumbled, giving him a weak wave after your boots hit the floor. "sorry for not calling, i just..."
you were backlit, the glow of the city making it impossible to see your features from the dining area- but your posture alone was enough to have him shoving his chair back and crossing his apartment.
"how bad?" he asked, stopping a few steps back, now able to make out the tears in your suit and the bruises around your mask.
"pretty sure i sprained my wrist, and there's a poorly-bandaged gash on my leg, but otherwise i'm peachy."
"how bad's the leg?"
"i'm... not sure. bad enough that i think i need your help." you patted the windowsill with a gloved hand. "obviously."
he nodded and slid to your good side, gently resting a hand on your shoulder. "okay. c'mon, my stuff's in the bathroom."
-
"here." he handed you a pair of shorts and a large tank top. "change into this so i can get to the wounds, okay? i'll be right out here if you need anything."
-
"you're good!" you called.
he nudged the bathroom door back open and scooped your uniform up from the floor, carefully putting it in a canvas bag and tying the handles together before setting it in the tub to deal with later. "alright," he sighed, turning back to face you.
his clothes looked way too right on you, he realized, a wave of emotion he would vehemently deny surging through his chest and pushing heat to his neck and cheeks.
"alright?"
"okay. alright. uh-" he jerked a thumb at the counter- "up here, i guess, so i can see your leg."
you propped one foot on the toilet lid and braced your good hand against his shoulder, his hands instinctively coming up to hover around your waist as you pushed yourself up and settled next to the sink.
the grateful smile you gave him was enough to tug his lips into a smile of his own.
"you're up, doctor todd," you teased.
he stepped forward with a halfhearted eyeroll, fingers brushing the cloth tied hastily around your leg. "can i take this off?"
"go ahead."
he tugged gently at the knot, wincing when you inhaled sharply. "sorry."
the scrap fell away, revealing dried blood and an open wound on the outside of your thigh.
"yeesh, that is nasty," he said.
you scoffed lightly. "gee, thanks."
"hey, if you wanted a nice doctor, you probably should have gone somewhere else." he shifted to the side, grabbing a clean cloth and bottle of alcohol. "fair warning, you're really not gonna like me here in a minute."
your quick "i seriously doubt that." was greeted with a grin that felt a little too fond for his liking.
he told himself it was for your benefit.
...yeah, that sounded good.
he could live with that.
-
he made quick work of cleaning the gash, doing his best to distract you by making stupid small talk about the horrible movie he'd sat through that morning because the tv remote had been out of reach and the mediocre new coffee shop with dry blueberry muffins.
"was the coffee okay, at least?"
"okay, yeah, but not 'five-dollars-fifty' okay. if i hadn't been falling asleep in line i probably would have left when i saw the price."
"there's a nice one up by my place, they make the best blueberry muffins ever."
he hummed. "i'll keep that in mind, next time i'm over that way." he leaned back, studying your cut. "i think stitches would probably be smart."
you groaned. "of course they would."
"i'm okay to do them- i do them on myself- but if you want i can give you a lift to a hospital or something."
"no. if you can, i want you to do them. i trust you."
he sat with that for a minute, searching your face for any hesitation. when he found none, he nodded. "okay."
-
as you both expected, it sucked.
to make things worse, he was rapidly running out of mindless things to talk about.
how many times could two people really argue about pizza toppings before it got old?
-
"alright, done."
"holy shit, finally." you slumped back, leaning on your good hand for a moment before your head snapped back up. "no, not like- i meant thank you, you did great, i'm not being an ingrate-"
"i know, relax." he nudged your knee with a goofy smile. "here, gimme your wrist."
you pouted (which, yes, that was also adorable, much to his dismay), carefully stretching your bad arm out.
he took your hand gently, scooping it up in one of his and bracing your forearm up with his other. "it's actually not too bad, considering you hit hard enough to tear your glove. i'm gonna clean the scrapes here up, though, okay?"
"do i really get a choice?"
"it's your body, so, yeah."
you sighed dramatically. "fine, if you insist. go ahead, clean my wounds for me."
-
he was quiet this time, focusing intently on removing bits of dirt and stuff from your raw palm with a set of tweezers.
trying to ignore the way your eyes seemed to linger on him now that he was looking down.
he set the tweezers aside, glancing up at you to find you smiling at him thoughtfully, and dropped his gaze just as quickly as he had lifted it. "what, you enjoying making me do all the work?"
"you could say that, yeah."
he scoffed. "well, you're going to enjoy it a lot less in a second. time for the alcohol again."
"ugh."
-
he managed to dig up an old wrist brace in the back of his sock drawer. a little big for you, but it would work for now, he figured.
"may i?"
you nodded and held your arm back out for him to loop the brace over your thumb and tuck the velcro strap under and around, pulling it snug against your skin before sticking it to itself.
-
"last one, tough stuff." he pointed at your cheek, where a small patch of dried blood stained your skin. "ready?'
you nodded tiredly. "let's just get this over with. this counter isn't as comfortable as it looks."
he chuckled, dampening the softest cloth he had and wringing it out. "sorry, i didn't think i needed to get an apartment with counter cushions." he raised his left hand up, hovering an inch or so below your chin. "uh, can i..?"
your eyes widened, glancing at his hand. "oh, uh, sure. yeah."
he moved slowly, raising it to cup your chin softly with his middle and forefinger on one side and thumb on the other. "this okay?"
"mhm." your eyes slid shut and he could almost believe that you sank into his touch.
if it wasn't absolutely insane, anyway. his touch wasn't exactly the kind people sank into- much less people like you. people that good, that caring, that stunning? yeah, no.
he tilted your head to the side slightly, rubbing gentle circles across your cheekbone with the cloth and watching as the blood faded.
"so, who did this?" he asked softly, casually.
apparently not casually enough, though, because you snorted at him. "why, you think you need to go avenge me? defend my honor or something?"
"no! i'm just curious. just... making conversation."
your eyes opened, amusement dancing in them and threatening to hypnotize him. "good. i shouldn't have to tell you who won that fight, jay."
"well, i mean, you are missing a chunk of your thigh."
"aw, is the big bad vigilante worried about lil old me?"
he squeezed your face gently, pushing your cheeks up and forward into a goofy fish face. "it's rude to tease the guy tending to your wounds, babe."
he definitely didn't imagine your breath hitching. "babe, huh?" you asked playfully.
"shut up," he grumbled. "don't make me regret helping."
-
"alright, looks like that's the last scrape. you're all cleaned up."
"thanks, jason." you smiled up at him, soft and warm and genuine. "i really appreciate this."
"yeah, yeah." he squeezed your jaw again. "try not to make it a habit."
"mhm." a moment passed quietly before you spoke quietly. "so, you gonna do something here, or can i have my face back?"
he froze.
your mouth- which he was really trying not to look at- shifted into a confident smirk, a challenge written clearly in the angle of your lips.
your eyes, bright under the harsh lighting, told a different story. one of vulnerability, and want, and something close to fear.
"do you want me to?" his voice was hoarser than he'd intended, and he swore you could hear his heartbeat echoing in it.
your gaze dipped to his lips. "would it make everything super weird?"
"you just came crawling through my window in the middle of the night in a mask and kevlar. i think things are already weird."
he felt your hum under his fingers. "then why not?"
"do you really want me to answer that?"
"jason, will you please just kiss me already?"
"well, you did say please." he leaned in slowly, giving you every opportunity to slip away or yell 'sike!'
all you did was bring your good hand up to his collar and pull him towards you.
your lips were soft and gentle, and the way they pulled upwards slightly when his hand slid from your jaw to cup your cheek was something he'd be thinking about for weeks.
when he eventually pulled back, it took him a moment to open his eyes. he was half convinced that if he did, it would be to his bedroom ceiling, the past half an hour all a dream.
instead, he found your fond gaze.
"finally."
he let out a huff of laughter, thumb running over your cheek. "you should stay here tonight."
"w-"
"not like that," he clarified quickly. "you have stitches, you shouldn't go leaping across rooftops tonight. i can take the couch."
"hm." you smoothed out his shirt collar, the barely-there brush of your fingers against his shoulder almost tugging a whine out of him. "or i can take the couch, and then you can take me home in the morning and let me treat you to an actual blueberry muffin."
"are you asking me out?" it was a teasing comment, paired with a tiny smirk meant to fluster you.
but it was also a reality check.
you seemed to catch the second meaning. "yeah, i am. would you, please, let me take you out on a date?"
"i'll have to check my calenda-"
"you're so full of it."
"yeah, probably."
"is that a yes?"
he laughed, bringing his other hand up to squeeze your knee. "yeah, i can let you take me on a date. i could use a good muffin."

"MY FACE IS ON FIRE!" Taika was panting and fanning his burning cheeks. The moms running the stand you both went to were cackling at him.
It had been a day since you both landed in Puerto Rico, and after sleeping off the jet lag and trying some of the fine dining, the first thing to do was explore the city, San Juan, from start to finish. Coincidentally, you both walked right into the outdoor market area, where fresh produce was being bought and sold everywhere. That's when Taika, the jackass, got ballsy and decided to try a pepper from one of the stands. He had been warned.
Oh well... guess you can see how that went.
To make up for the commotion caused, you bought a pineapple and a papaya from the same stand, as well as a couple of exquisitely bottled cokes. Taika was consoled, given a bit of coconut milk, and sent right back down the boardwalk. That was the first and last time he tried a freebie from a pepper stand. He was complaining about how his tongue felt (you would have thought that might make him get a little quieter and talk less), and he didn't stop until half of his bottled soda was gone. He sort of forgot about the pain after that and started looking for souvenirs.
You began your walk with him at eight in the morning, sharp. It was near noon by the time you were finished, and Taika had two big bags of fruits and veggies, exotic jewelry, tour maps, and trinkets. You were starving, and, more than once, tried to steal a kiwi from his bags but he would always manage to catch you and slap your hand away.
"They're for later!" He'd say that or make up a different excuse each time.
Taika wasn't neglectful of your hunger, in the end. He took you to a nearby restaurant after doing some searching on his phone and dropping the bags off back at the hotel room.
The restaurant was quaint, but vibrant at the same time. There were colors, dancers, and live music played on a little wooden stage just meters away. Ordering was fine, but it took some time for Taika.
"I've never seen so many things with pineapple in it! And it's not pizza, so it's bound to be good!" He seemed so excited for the food. It made you happy, but you eventually had to pick for him since the waiter was getting tired of actually having to wait.
"I have something special planned for tonight!" Taika exclaimed, the alcoholic drink of his choice being waved around in his hand. You were already reaching for the napkins, afraid he was going to spill something.
So now he tells you...
"Should I be concerned?" your first question came out with ease.
"Honey, if it's anything with me, you should always be concerned," he was smug, but the look on your face told him he needed to fix his wording. "BUT! Uhm... No, no you shouldn't be concerned about where I'm taking you. It's going to be a blast, I promise!"
"Better not be lying, Taik," you warned, and he just started to grin. That made you nervous, but you put the feeling on hold when the food came out.
Two bowls of Asopao de Pollo were placed in front of you and Taika, and they were devoured briefly in the span of thirty minutes. Extra time was added because Taika decided to add hot sauce to his. 'It's to add a kick,' he said. Yeah, whatever.
The rest of the afternoon was spent snacking, and checking out the more historical side of Puerto Rico. Abandoned forts, old canons, battle fields, you name it. It was truly a blast, even when Taika became cocky around one of the forts you visited.
It was at the Sitio Histórico de San Juan when things got... touchy. You were with a group of people, and you and Taika decided to linger around the back so if something interesting was spotted, you wouldn't have to move immediately. Little did you know, Taika was devising a, "ditch the tour guide and go make out somewhere," kind of plan.
Much to your demise, and to your pleasure, the plan worked. The tour guide hardly noticed the two of you disappear down an unknown corridor and push yourselves deep into a dark corner.
The smell was wet, ancient, and dank. Taika had you pressed up against one of the concrete walls while his hands worked their magic, lifting up the hem of your shirt and immediately grasping for your bra. You let him squeeze and grip through the fabric of it and press his body so close to yours, the waistband of his shorts was rubbing a red line across the skin of your stomach.
Your legs trembled while you completely forgot about the tour itself and your fingers started to run through his curly hair. Taika's thigh was moving to be between both of yours and he started to slowly rub the top of his against your clothed cunt. Slowly. Achingly slow.
Whimpers of his name and the sound of your tongue mixing echoed along the dank walls, and whimpers turned to moans, and moans turned into garbled sentences when his hand sunk into your underwear and sought out your clit. You tried to warn him, this was a bad idea. You could be noticed missing from the group and people could come looking for you. There could be papz right around the corner, needing a good look for a filthy headline. He didn't stop, though. He started rubbing faster, playing with you like you were some toy.
You knew he wouldn't give you anything but his fingers. Yet. Taika waited and waited, getting you closer on just clit stimulation, but just as you reached your brink, he started to pull his hand away. Dazed and confused, you looked up, your chest shaking from all the heavy breathing you had been doing. Your hands were grasping at his shirt, damn near begging to have just the tiniest bit more, but the look on his face said it all. Even through the darkness of the corridor.
"What the fuck, dude? I was so close!" You hissed at him. All he did was click his tongue and say:
"That's for later too."
The rest of the tour was dreadful to you. It was long, and hot, and dank while you found your way back to the group. Taika was nonchalantly following just a ways behind you while you consistently traveled in circles or down a corridor and through the next. As if he knew you were getting yourself lost, he eventually stepped in, and lead you back towards the entrance of the fort, where your tour group had huddled together for the last destination and for the tour guide to say goodbye. Oh well, at least you got to take in some historical views.
After one more cramped trolley ride back to the hotel later, you were utterly exhausted, but you knew your night wasn't over yet. Taika still had something planned, and it must have been on the spot this morning too. If he had planned it any further back, he would have blabbed it all out to you by now. You laid on your bed while you could, right on your stomach with your face buried into the pillow, trying to let your heavy eyes fall closed for a second, but the moment you did, you felt a large hand smack you right on the ass.
You flipped over, mad as a hornet when you looked up at Taika. You hadn't heard him come out of the bathroom.
He had dressed himself up in all black. Black button up, tucked into his black pants and pressed firm with a black belt. He looked like one of those pit musicians you'd see when you go to really good musicals with live orchestras.
"Dirty Dancing cosplay, ooor?" you nipped at him and he rolled his eyes.
"Ha ha, you're funny," the sarcasm dripped from him. He then threw a piece of (also black) clothing on. "Put that on."
The reluctance was real, but you followed his orders anyway, grumbling and griping your way through. Turns out it was a dress. A short one, at that, only going down to be just half way down your thighs, but it was comfortable enough. Luckily you had a pair of flats with a slight heel in your bag to pair with it. You had no idea where you were going with him, but you were not about to walk there in heels.
Taika was giving you "the eyes" as you walked out of the bathroom, admittedly messing with the hem of your dress to try and bring it down lower. As a result, came more cleavage that you would have liked, but oh well. At least Taika enjoyed the view.
He took the grocery bags in his hands and in the crook of his arms, and like that, it was time to go.
"We'll be late if we don't rush!" he hurried you. You knew that was just a big fat lie, and he was excited to get to wherever you were going, but you played along for as long as you could.
Taika made you go down the boardwalk again, through flourishes of people while the bags in his arms still jostled from side to side. Eventually, you stopped, just outside of a well lit building, and he took you inside.
He stepped up to a desk, signed something, and set all of the groceries down on the desk. While he did those things, you had a look around. To your left, deeper into the building and with dimmer lighting, there were tables and chairs set up. Almost all of the tables were meant for two, or for four. Before you could investigate further, Taika was back to leading you around, through a few more doors, which opened up to a big ballroom.
A few more people were waiting there, dressed almost in the same fashion as you or even a bit more flamboyantly, and obviously coupled up. Taika wrapped his arm around your waist and made you jolt.
"Care to dance?" he mused quietly and you gulped. You've got to be fucking kidding.
"You're joking," you murmured, but he wasn't, because he took you right over to the group of other couples and started conversing with them while you started to freak out quietly.
Honestly, you had never been the greatest dancer on earth. Sure, you could cut a rug from time to time, but that was in the privacy of your own home or at Taika's place if he happened to pick out a really good song worth dancing to. You knew Taika loved to see you dance, he loved to dance with you most of all, but you both never got into anything fancy.
Now was the time.
Soon, your instructors announced themselves, and the room fell mute while they introduced themselves in their very heavy Spanish accents. You stuck to Taika's side most of the time, even as the mood was set and stone. You would be learning to salsa dance. But what did this have to do with the food? You'd find out later.
To put it simply, things got... touchy. Of course, the one and only Waititi was the one touching you, wrapping his big, strong hands around your hips and making them sway back and forth, but it was personal at some point. His hips were pushed against yours most of the time, and that awakened a more primal sense.
Once the dance had been established, the lavish music and the glow of sweat and cologne heightened your senses, and the lights began to dim or flash with lavish pinks, purples, reds, yellows, and greens. You got lost in the feeling as Taika set his hands on your hips again, his warm palms making your legs ache to feel his skin touch yours. Your back was against his chest while the footwork got complicated. Focused, yet mystical.
All the couples around you, doing the same moves as you, turned to blurry blobs, and your breathing got heavier as the pace of the music piece got faster and faster. Taika's breath drew across your ear, and made you shudder. It nearly knocked you out of focus, because you bumped your hips backwards, and pushed your ass against his hips. Like a chain reaction, you felt his hands squeeze your hips a little more than he was supposed to. So, you bumped your hips back against his again, and suddenly you were whipped around by his hands, and pulled flat against his chest.
The bodies around you still writhed and moved with beauty and grace, then there was you and Taika... in the very middle of the dancefloor while a small hard on pressed against the side of your thigh. He was looking down at you, and through the darkness, just like in the corridor, you could see his expression. It was a look of want. Need.
Before anything could be done, however, the lights flashed back on, and the song had finished. Only you and Taika were out of position. The instructors paid no mind. They just clapped, as well as everyone else. Taika removed his hands from you, but made sure you were close enough to hide the little bump in his pants. You hoped there was nothing other than this, because now you really wanted to get back to the hotel room.
The couples started filing out of the room, back to where the tables and chairs were, and Taika kept you in front of him the entire time, pressed almost a little too closely to him.
"Mr. Waititi," a waitress called to him from the kitchen as you met the front desk again. "Your food has been prepared."
Taika looked at the waitress, then to you. He was debating something. You knew what, but you'd let him figure this out for himself. He was the one with the more visible problem.
"Awesome," Taika sighed, then looked down at you. "Join me for a bite real fast?" He said it through almost gritted teeth. Reluctantly... you agreed.
If it was worth it, that's for you to decide. This place had taken the groceries you bought, fruits and veggies, and made a beautiful dinner with mango kiwi sangria. With the time the lessons had taken, the chefs in the kitchen had made the perfect meal. They had even thrown in a few extra elements like chorizo and perfectly cooked rice dishes. As much as you loved the food, you couldn't forget about the need between your legs. And it was obvious Taika couldnt simply forget about his.
You would watch him squirm in his seat while he sipped on his drink, or you would find him staring at you a little more than usual, and little more intensely with each second. His eyes would gloss over, and his breathing would slow, but he'd snap out of it, only when you said something to him, or a server came out of nowhere to check on both of your meals.
Even if the dinner wasn't as romantic (although more sexually charged than you expected), you still had a fantastic time. As soon as Taika finished his dish, he paid the check and was quick to dash out the door with you at his side. Sure, you managed to have enough time to pack up what was left of your food for later, but that hardly deterred Taika's speed and agility.
The walk back to the hotel room went by faster than you thought. The crowds had started to dwindle, and lights began to dim, because all of the shops and side markets had finally closed down after a long day of work. There was just enough darkness to cover the fact that Taika had his hands all over you. All the way to your room.
The moment you touch the door handle, the frenzy began.
He closed the door with his foot, and with both hands, he grabbed your hips and slammed you against the nearest wall he could find. His lips breathed over yours, whispering dirty praises and hot needs, and his hands reached down to pull up your dress to bunch it around your waist. His hand reached between your thighs, and cupped your wet panties, just over your folds. He started to stroke it, while his lips teased over yours, never kissing you, but needing you.
His strong fingers prodded through the fabric, seeking and searching like he had done with you in the corridor of the filthy base. Filthy actions in filthy places.
You moaned for him, but he seemed busy. He continued to bunch up your dress until your stomach was exposed to him. His parched lips drug themselves down your collarbone, again, avoiding your lips, while your hand shot up into his curly hair.
"Fuck, baby," he muttered, opening his dirty mouth just to use his teeth on you. He bit down on your skin, making a hiss seethe from you through your clenched jaw. "You're so fucking beautiful... making my dick so fucking hard."
You watched him kneel, the position making his pants crumple up, but the bulge in his black pants remained as prominent as ever. His nose brushed over your stomach, and you could feel his tongue prop out softly and hover over the hem of your underwear, just as well as his teeth hooking into them. Your thighs spread on their own, and he started to pull your underwear downwards.
He could see the glisten on your clit and the need drip down your thighs. His tongue poked out again, and you felt it slide across your inner thigh. It crept higher and higher,
He placed sloppy kisses along the soft flesh. The kind of kiss that you could hear. The smack and the pop from the wetness and eagerness to taste more of you and take more of you in. He needed that, and he only got more of it as he neared your core.
"Such a wet fuckin pussy, baby," he groaned and placed his tongue along the lips of your folds. His tongue drug itself along the slit, and dipped in to be right on your aching clit. He swiped his tongue back down, pushing it along your hole. Your legs began to tremble, and he began to dig in like the meal you had gotten at the restaurant only whet his appetite.
He took you seriously this time. The rough pads of his finger nimbly drifting along your hips, tracing every mark, every bump, and every hair, because he wanted to memorize this feeling. He also wanted you to remember these exact moments, when he ate your pussy out on the exotic islands of Puerto Rico.
You gripped his hair so tight, but that only pushed him further into your cunt. His nose swiped along, to add flavor to the sensation. His face, most certainly, would be dripping with you by the end of the night.
How long this went on for? You didn't know. You also didn't know it his goal was to disturb your neighbors, because you got pretty fucking for him at some point. He didn't stop until he was satisfied, and you didn't bother keeping track of how many times you had cum on his tongue. You knew he loved the taste. He loved your taste.
Eventually, you both made it back to the bed for once, after one or two earth shattering orgasms. Thighs shaking, breaths colliding, and tongues twisting. His lips touched yours and your mouth was immediately drenched in your own taste, mixed with his.
He got you out of your dress. You stripped him of his clothes. Skin met skin, and it was an instantaneous bon fire of pure, raw sex.
His hand met your throat and he pushed you against the bed while he sat between your legs, unconsciously rubbing his dick through your folds. His lips were on yours again, and he gave your throat a gentle squeeze from time to time.
"Fuck, Taik, just put it in me," you breathed desperately, and the air grew thick. Your eyes never met his. You just watched the way his hips rolled into you, and took the time to feel his scratchy hair rub against your belly each time. You were addicted.
"You're so soft..." His large hands trailed down your stomach, "I'd rather just play with you and see what would happen if I teased you some more." His snickering and plotting drew a whine from you. It sounded so pitiful, he knew you were on the edge already.
"Aw, pretty girl?" He clicked his tongue in a fake sympathetic way, "You don't like to play games, do you? That's such a shame... I thought fuck dolls loved to be played with."
"Taika," you whined again, and you started to wriggle beneath him.
Taika didn't usually mind it when you wiggled about, but something about tonight, it really pissed him off a small bit.
"You want it?" He hissed. "Fucking fine."
You nearly screamed so loud, the hotel walls would have shook, but he shoved himself in, with hardly any warning, and slapped a hand over your mouth.
"You're such a loudmouth... just shut up and take it," he muttered by your ear, and his hips wasted no time making a fool out of you. While one of his hands stayed over your mouth, the other was planted by your head, almost threateningly, and he gripped the bedsheets. If you had just turned your head a little bit, you would have seen the veins popping on his wrist.
Taika pressed his thumb right on the high of your cheekbone, keeping your mouth clamped shut harder as he lost himself in you. Fuck it, you were gone too. High as a kite as he pummeled you and fucked you up something awful.
He was making your sore already, with the intense clap of his hips that never seemed to slow. He was persistent. He was determined.
You let yourself cum for him way too many times that night, and he knew it. He would watch your eyes roll back, and the way your body would weakly tense each time, like you were recieving an electric shock to the brain. And he kept going. He kept going for a long time.
You just let him use you as the night went on, and the look of satisfaction grew more intensely each time you spilled over. It went on and on and on... until he suddenly just couldn't take it anymore.
"Oh my God," he panted, finally letting you speak out and be more vocal, but he had knocked all the breath from your lungs, so there was nothing you could say. "You're so fucking tight... so fuckin pretty, holy shit."
Taika's head rocked back and his eyes watched the ceiling. Shit. He was starting to give out. Shit, shit, shit.
He hunched back over, his thrusts becoming uneven with the ache of anxiousness and lust. It was a blissful, awful, horrible mix. Taika fucking loved it.
A grunt, a groan, and a brand new hickey to get him through it. He finally gave in, burying his face in the same shoulder he marked you on, kissing, lapping and nipping at your skin, as he came, and filled you up.
His body shook and quivered like an earthquake, and soon he felt much heavier on you. Exhaustion kicked in, and you felt like falling asleep right then and there.
You managed a hand to rub up and down his back, comfortingly, and he would let out the occasional groan in response.
"Do you have any more surprises I should be aware of?" you asked, voice hoarse and very very quiet.
"I might," Taika asked after a long pause of silence. "But those are for later..."
