have you ever had such intense imposter syndrome that you'll see a real-world thing that's inspired literally dozens of fictional equivalents and still be like, "but if i do that people will know i'm a horrible evil plagiarist who steals all the ideas"?

#bog post #a billionty fictional things: *has fantasy versions of the church/crusades/pope*#my stupid ass: 'if i put a Fantasy Pope into my original fiction people will think i'm stealing from (insert fictional property here)'#i'm always on some level plinking away at original fiction #using my literally thousands of words of DA fic headcanon stuff #(most of which is teeeechnically almost canon compliant but a lot of it not really)#and i always hesitate and get derailed at the most... idk how to put this #the most 'DA snagged this from other things to begin with' elements #the chantry/templars/divine/whatever is all just snagged from real life and gently scrambled #the wardens are just the night's watch from GoT #see this is what i meant when i was rolling my eyes at the reaction to Absolution #or the DA4 leaks when people were like #'it looks generic'#girl DA's aesthetic and basic premise is pretty Generic High Fantasy to start with lmao #it's unique because of the character writing #not the setup #DA is just tolkien by way of asoiaf and whatever other thing the devs liked #i'm just feeling whiny today i guess #bleh
