I draw her in April, in a way to chill myself down.

I ended up drawing a full-body drawing of CBC-Lette. I do love her.

I ended up changing her shoes from heels to more formal shoes.

I keep remembering my Canal+ Channelette Gijinka design that I sketched but haven't finished.

I love the design I made, but again. I haven't finished a drawing for it. I'll complete the two WIPs I'm working it.

Also, random comment. I'm a fan of Étienne Robial's graphic work, after learning about Canal+. I love how stylish it looks, and he gave me my love for the font "Futura".

I really wanted to make a Gijinka of this channel, since for years I was fascinated by its graphic design.

I made a sketch of the design, and felt in love with it. But I haven't done a complete drawing with it.

And I ended up making a drawing these recent days. I finished it in two days!

TV-am and ITN

I can imagine TV-am, the franchise that led the beginning of ITV's breakfast television; waking up the other members of the ITV Family, as well as making really good breakfasts.

While ITN is the franchise dedicated to bring out the news to the channels. So I can imagine him being serious, like INTJ energy. But then again, I need to check more about ITV's history.

Weird imagination. I imagine TV-am talking to ITN while bringing him a nice cup of tea. And ITN checking the news while drinking that tea.

That's kinda cute.

Introducing... The Channelette Project

"The Channelette Project" or just "Channelettes" is a personal project, for the moment consisted of character designs based on Television Channels. The main purprose will be character designs, but in a future they can be used for stories about television history, and even miscellaneous stories..

The Main Character Design Bible will consist of:

Graphic Design: Logos, Idents, Animations, etc.

Location: National image and symbols

Time: The years or era when those channels were airing can also inspired future designs, like alternative clothing or appearance.

Programs and Personalities: There will be moments where certain programs that were produced for that channel, or certain people who are important to the channel; will influence on the appearance and design.

I am aware of the massive quantities of TV Channels that exists around the world, but I'll try to make the most important ones, As well as some lesser-known ones too. As well as to figure out how to address the fact that networks like USA's ABC, CBS, etc. have channels that are connected to a main network. That one will be addressed in the future, while UK's ITV Network has been addressed, due to the network having regional franchises like Yorkshire and Tyne Tees, as well as other franchises like ITN and TV-am.

Let's take a look to the World for the Channelettes, Shall We?

The Airwaves

The main plane that covers the Earth and where the Channelettes habit, like other waves like Radio Waves.

The Channelettes are composed of Waves, and those waves can be:

Analog: The original format of transmitting channels.

Digital: The new format of transmitting channels.

And they can be connected to the Earth (AKA their respective channels can transmit) via:

Wireless: From Terrestrial to Satellite

Cable

Internet: There are channels that only transmit via that format.

And the Channelettes can have their status:

Active: They're currently being transmitting and on duty.

Legacy: They're not longer being used, either due to the channel going defunct or they changed to the point that they're not exactly the same channel.

Legacy channels can still exist on the Airwaves, but they're unable to be upgraded nor updated. For example, if a legacy channel used to be a analog channel, they can't be upgraded to be a digital channel. They're pretty much stuck on time. The only way the can be leave their legacy status is to returning transmissions, although it happens rarely. An example of a former Legacy channel is Chile's Telenorte, which returned transmissions via Online, albeit in a experimental state.

The Channelettes can be varied from theme to theme. Like General, News, Entertainment, etc. And they can even have hybrid themes, having two or more themes. But if they tackled a lot, they are a General-themed Channelette.

There are some dangers on the Airwaves. Like the Rouge Signals, or Rosigs for short, which are signals made by unauthorized sources that can interfere and even hijack a Channelette. Hijacks can be represented as a possession, the hijacked Channelette starts to act as the Rosig commands it to do, like sending a message. Even some Rosigs can even be shaped as Channelettes, although it is rare. An example of a Rosig Channelette is Lucky 7.

Although, the main enemy is the time. Technology advances, human interests shifting all the time, and the support for the channels; can led to Channelettes to become legacy and stop being updated.

Especially during the current event being The Signal Migration. While in the Earth they're doing the shift towards Digital and the Analog Shutdown, the Channelettes have to be upgrading to become Digital and continue doing their duties. While those who are not yet being upgraded to Digital, their signals cut short and their presence on Earth becomes sharply lower.

In other moment I'll be showing my story ideas. But this project will be Character Designs first, possible branches like story later.

Reflection of 2023

Well, this ended up being the first blog post of 2024.

I'll admit it. I felt that I wasted my year being depressed and not doing much.

I finally left behind my abusive ex. Then I got hit by massive realization punches to my gut, the amount of abuse and the fact that I got groomed. As well as my naïvete and complacency led to me being harmed and taken advantaged by people who only did to me, more harm than good. As well as making me commit actions that I really regret.

Then, the depression episodes hit me for months, unableing me to do my studies at a consistent pace. But then, when I got scolded by it when I thought I was going to stop studying.

Also, I have a massive procrastination problem. Oof me... And I TRYING to figure out how to finally manage it, because I hate feeling overwhelmed by stuff and life. As well as the fact that I had to deal with Maladaptive Daydreaming and that I live a lot of my time in my head. I need to NOT live in it all the time. And I'm a overthinker too...

Yep. I realized that I have a lot of issues that I need to address... And that's why I felt that I wasted this year.

But at least I did some good stuff. Like... Good Good Stuff.

Again, finally having the guts to leave my ex. The best decision that I made that year. And I need to thank my friends who used to be part of the same clan where that jerk used to be its leader; for being on my side. I really love you, guys. Especially one who helped me to not chickened out of that decision. (There was a moment where I tried to leave him, but due to my broken hyperempathy, I chickened out. Worst decision on 2020... And I still blame myself for not doing it...)

I learned how to be "selfish" sometimes. Well, more likely, how to respect and love myself. I still need to practice that, but I'm not self-hating so much like before.

I opened myself more to my friends about what happened to me. And I strengthed my relationships with them. As well as apologizing to them for hiding my issues before. I also reunitied with some old friends, even some from the DA years. (Hi, Yoshi, Ryan and Arianna!)

I regained my hope! Yeah. I'm still struggling with some cynicism on me. But OH BOY. I was a complete doomer! I thought that things are just going to get worse. I thought that I lost my hope since... Really late 2020. But I since realized that, No! My hope is still present! It's just that I got used to see it that its brightest. As well as regaining my humanism view. So yeah, I became a bloomer and returned to, AT LEAST my ideas of humanism. I believe that humanity can progress and be better, help each other to be better persons, and to bring justice to the wrong-doers, no matter in which position of power they are. Because after all, we are all humans. No one is more human that others.

I'm still proud that I managed to show off BladeCrossEXE, from the YT Channel FlashingBlades, my Elec Man Unhearted creepypasta for his Mega Man Creepypasta readings that he did from October to, New Years Eve. As well as helping him with some facts for the Rockman.EXE iceberg.

Developing more of my personal projects and some fan projects. In personal projects, The Channelette Project and internally Virus Deleter. In some fan projects, I need to draw and write those ideas.

I'm happy for my new interests! Especially in my new interest in Street Fighter! As well as my desire to get into more fighting games!

As well as a another, REALLY personal one. I'm not going to tell it, though. Please respect my private life.

Well... 2023 could've been better. Being depressed didn't helped. (I don't know if you guys really want my Spotify Wrapped of this year. Let's just say it was a Depression Sandwich)

But at least I'm getting better on my mental issues, and I want to fix those that I have to need to check on, like my overthinking and not living on my head all the time. (Random comment related, but the infinite cube that I bought during the writing of this blog post, is helping me to relax and stay focused. Best adquisition that I made, I think)

So yeah!

I'll try to return to my studies and to drawing more!

CHANNELETTES SKETCH DUMP

Context: This is for my idea of Channelettes, which are Antropomorphised TV Channels. Or TV Channels Gijinka.

I love Gijinka ever since I became fixated with OS-Tans when I was young. Gijinka, in my opinion, is a good creative exercise in giving human qualities and characterization on non-human things.

I'm planning more on this project. But for the moment, have this sketch dump.

The First Sketches

Featuring early designs of ITV's Anglia, Southern Television and Channel Television. All being part of the United Kingdom's ITV Network.

While I did some ideas of TV Gijinka before, Adam Martyn's Ident Review Extra episode of the ITV Idents inspired the whole new Channelette Project, and with it, those first three designs.

The design for Anglia convinces me, while the others need more refining. Especially Southern Television. Although, Channel Television will be a catgirl, without doubt.

Deutsche Welle (Or DW-Lette)

Made in May.

Sorry for the weird pose, I tend to do those. I don't know what's missing on DW-Lette's design.

RT-Lette

Based on the State-Owned Russian channel.

(Before I did this drawing, I did some sketch with her and CGTN. But I'll not post it here, since it's kinda unintelligible)

She will be portraited as a selfish daddy's girl (The "daddy" being of course The Pudin, You-know-who) who uses the majority of the money given for her own benefict. She doesn't like the other Channelettes. And the other Channelettes doesn't trust her.

She's CLEARLY made for satire. (NO Russophobia allowed with the character!! Xenophobia will NOT be tolerated!)

TV3 Catalunya

Based on TV3 of Catalunya, Spain.

The reason of me making this Channelette is because the 80s TV3 theme is so DAMN EPIC SOUNDING!!

I imagined a Gacha-Inspired animation of TV3-Lette with her flag-carrying spear. It was so cool, I HAD to draw her design.

I tried to draw her with a traditional Catalunya outfits. Making the flag was REALLY hard, though...

EARLY, PRE-CHANNELETTES IDEAS

(Note that NOT every design will be there. Because I sketched in different notebooks and I ended up missing some sketches)

1984 TVN Gijinka (or 1984 TVN-Lette?)

Done in January 2023. Based on Chile's TVN logo from 1984 until 1988.

I LOVE this TVN logo, even if it was short-lived. I love it due to how beautiful and creative the idents are, with those two ribbons moving around. Really elegant idents, also.

I tried to make her design look so formal (Authoritarian? because ya know, dictatorship)

She needs a more defined design and a bigger drawing. Random idea, she will have Ribbons on her main design.

BBC News Early Design

Okay. I forgot that this sketch was from 2020!

I Watched the BBC World News channel and sometimes I watch it with my dad's TV box. And I liked watching the idents and the intros. And I love the countdown.

And I tried to draw her more, but I stopped with this. She needs a better design, still. BUT the idea of her using a antenna-inspired spear as her main weapon will carry on her design.

UCTV Early Design

Based on UCTV, actually named Canal 13, from Chile.

Oh god (ironic), this design also comes from 2020! The idea was older than I thought.

His design was based on a priest, because the UCTV at that time was owned by a Catholic university from Chile. (WAS, nowadays no more, since... Late 2000s early 2010s)

Also because the channel used to show off some priests telling reflections before the channel signs off. (I remember catching some of those Reflections when I was a kid. But I didn't payed attention to those)

While I like this design, I think I'll redesign him. Spoiler of the new design idea, the channel used to have bumpers with angel cartoons, and it's why UCTV was nicknamed "The Channel of the Little Angel" ("El Canal del Angelito"). Wink Wink.

There was this 2022 redraw of UCTV-Lette's design, with another designs for two other Chilean channels.

UCV Televisión, which design is the one with heels and one-eye covering hair. She's was the oldest Chilean TV channel, so i'll try to give her justice on a upcoming design.

AND Telecanal. Which is the one who's holding a box exclaiming "Buy My Shit". The joke refers to the fact that Telecanal's programming consists of an ABSURD majority of infomercials, and little to NO original content... I'm still baffled that this channel SOMEHOW is STILL AIRING. Sorry for the random rant. I'll try to come up with a better design.

I'll be continuing posting more sketches, as well as develop more of the Channelette project.

I'll be making a Masterpost of the whole Channelette later.

When I return to digital drawing, I'll try to digitise the designs. (And Hopefully do more drawings in general. I'm trying to make drawings from my tablet but... I need to build confidence with it)
